Michelle Obama: Don’t vote for a candidate just because “she’s cute”
posted at 1:45 pm on September 18, 2008 by Allahpundit
She’s referring to herself, of course. Even though she’s, um, not a candidate.
Why, whom did you think she meant?
Michelle Obama says voters need to decide this election by examining the issues, not because they like a candidate or think “she’s cute.”
Obama spoke in Charlotte on Thursday morning at a women’s round-table on economic issues. The crowd roared at her remark disparaging voters who might cast a ballot because of a woman’s looks, a clear jab at Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin.
Obama tried to clarify her remark with a smile, saying she was talking about herself.
This makes three times that one of the Obamas has deliberately belittled Palin, not including Barry’s “lipstick on a pig” crack which everyone in the world misunderstood except, apparently, for the crowd that was sitting there laughing at it. The first time was when The One glossed over her credentials as governor on CNN, just like his campaign did on the day she was announced as McCain’s pick. That’s defensible, at least, as not so much a personal attack as an attempt to draw a more favorable contrast with his own meager resume. But what about the second time, when the Bride of The One dropped this on her?
Obama then moved on to politics, where she first brought up her husband’s vice-presidential choice. “I think it was a really good pick—Senator Joe Biden,” she said, and later added, “People say they have amazing chemistry, and it’s true.”
Obama continued with talk about Biden when she said, “What you learn about Barack from his choice is that he’s not afraid of smart people.” The crowd softly chuckled.
Another unfortunate misunderstanding, another curiously giggling crowd. Exit question: What’s an innocent “civilian” like Michelle doing out on the battlefield, lobbing grenades at the other side?

Michelle’s statement was intended to raise the “lipstick on a pig” issue again. It also proves that Obama MEANT Palin.

Mary Todd Lincoln wasn’t much to look at — and she had a lousy personality too. Poor old Abe had to deal with a lot.
I nominate Tina Turner for the black beauties list. I know she’s kinda old now, but she was pretty hot back in the day — plus she showed a lot of character in the way that she recovered from all the Ike abuse.

Cindy McCain and Michelle are both free game as far as I’m concerned. Both speak in interviews and at conventions, so I’m not sure why the media and pundits are allowed to criticize what they say…

bradenmikael on September 18, 2008 at 4:33 PM
Here is the rule book, so we can all follow along:
1) Leftists/Fifth Columnists/Liberals/Democrats are compassionate. Republicans, Conservatives, “Right Wingers” are never compassionate. They are always devious, mean spirited, hate filled, racist bigots.
2) Leftists/Fifth Columnists/Liberals/Democrats are Smart. Republicans, Conservatives, “Right Wingers” are always stupid and subject to ridicule and condescension. These qualities, intelligence, “smartness,” etc., are inherent in your political world view, and are not related in any way to the individual, separate from their political leanings.
3) Leftists/Fifth Columnists/Liberals/Democrats are permitted to launch hate filled, vindictive, venemous, malicious bombs at the other side without reprimands, for they are always right and justified. Republicans, Conservatives, “Right Wingers” are never permitted to do so, otherwise they are merely “mean spirited,” and engaged in lies and vile campaign tactics.
4) Leftists/Fifth Columnists/Liberals/Democrats who are friends and family of the candidates are permitted to say anything they wish, no matter how mean, no matter if they are distortions, fabrications, and direct personal attacks and insults, against the opponent and his or her family. Republicans, Conservatives, “Right Wingers” are never permitted to do so, otherwise they are mean spirited and engaging in nasty politics. They are NEVER allowed to criticize, address, or respond to false and mean spirited, hate filled statements made by family members of Leftist/Fifth columnist/Liberal/Democrat candidates.
5) Leftists/Fifth Columnists/Liberals/Democrats may “Preach” from within a church, pushing their political agenda, vying for votes, and they may wax “religious” as they wish. Republicans, Conservatives, “Right Wingers” must shut up and never stand on their religious faith, never speak anything related to religion, and never resort to referring to religion or faith during their campaign, otherwise they are trying to “Push their religious beliefs on others,” and trying to establish a fascist government, a “Theocracy,” and are therefore violating the “Separation of Church and State.”
Those are just a few things to keep in mind during a presidential campaign.
Leftists/Fifth Columnists/Liberals/Democrats = Good.
Republicans, Conservatives, “Right Wingers,” = Bad.
Got it?
William2006 on September 18, 2008 at 4:33 PM
The Obamas are both so cute when they are condescending.
In truth Palin is very pretty. When McCain was a young man he was very handsome. But who cares? Michele maybe.
Terrye on September 18, 2008 at 4:34 PM
Funny I don’t recall Michelle telling voters when Barry showed up in swim trunks or the ladies of the press were supposedly ogling his crotch on Air Farce One, not to vote for him because he’s sexy/handsome. But at least Michelle concedes that Gov Palin is cute. Small victory.
eaglewingz08 on September 18, 2008 at 4:38 PM
So James Brown in drag wants us to vote for a candidate because of the issues, right? Well, Palin is as conservative as I am. I will not blink either.

manwithblackhat on September 18, 2008 at 4:44 PM
Don’t vote for a candidate just because their black.
JihadKiller1s1k on September 18, 2008 at 4:44 PM
I am pretty sure, most people are not voting the McCain/Palin ticket because Sarah is cute, that is a slam.
Sarah has actually accomplished things.
It would be the same as don’t vote for Obama because he’s black, and that I would bet, is the case with many black voters. Believe it or not.
I don’t get why the Obama crowd chuckled when Michelle said he was not afraid of smart people. Why was that funny? Anyone? Or were they just humoring her?
Conservatives R Us on September 18, 2008 at 4:44 PM
If being smart is the main requirement for running for president, then I, and many others like me, should all toss our hats into the ring!
If being of mixed race makes you qualified to run for president, then I, and my children, and many others like us, should run for president.
If being handsome, having excellent communication skills, being an excellent public speaker, and being knowledgeable about many subjects, including science, mathematics, music – actually performing it, not merely listening to hip hop and wrap music and knowing the “artists” names, History, Politics, etc., and being married to a smart, beautiful woman makes one qualified to run for president, then many of us should be running for president, having more qualifications than Barrack Obama in that regard.
If being smarmy, snobbish, dishonest, and if exaggerating, lying, being deceptive, disrespectful, and condescending are important qualifications to have in order to run for president, then I believe Barrack Obama and his mean spirited, condescending, disrespectful wife, Michelle, are possibly the MOST qualified of all.
Let’s not allow arrogant, snobbish, condescending individuals who are not qualified to work as Rattle Snake Wrangler in Arizona serve as our President.
No to Barrack Obama, Michelle Obama, and Joe Biden.
Yes to John McCain and Sarah Palin.
William2006 on September 18, 2008 at 4:46 PM
Good one, “manwithblackhat!”
Isn’t that the whole idea?
I thought we are supposed to vote for Obama because he is so sexy, so cute, so handsome, such an Adonis, and so much better than us.
I thought we are also supposed to vote for him because he is the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Oracle.
William2006 on September 18, 2008 at 4:52 PM
There is a thread behind all these sexust and ageist-type attacks by the Obama campaign.
The Obama campaign is purposefully (and in careful coordination) pushing the personal attacks against McCain and Palin regarding age and sexism in the hopes that some Republican on the McCain team out of frustration will make a remark that could be considered racist or along the lines of “well, the Democrats are sexists and ageists, then is the color of Obama’s skin fair game?”.
The Obama team are continually throwing out the snide personal remarks just trolling for a rebuttal from the Republican side they can call racist.
If it happens the press (editorials and video already written and produced) and Obama campaign will roll. They hope that this is their #1 campaign issue in the remaining weeks.
The Democrats are so champing at the bit to slam down the racist card that a few Obamaniacs have recently jumped the gun and proactively called the Republicans and non-Obama supporters racists.
albill on September 18, 2008 at 4:54 PM
I don’t see how that would be an equivalent to rioting and you’re conflating your LA racial incidents. There was no riot after the OJ verdict.
It defies actual logic–the type based on objective Truth–but for a Left-indoctrinated victocrat populace, it makes perfect sense. The logic goes like this: the doctrinaire Marxists will use any means necessary to remove the barriers blocking the implementation of full-on socialism, of which Bush was one. The average Obama voter is merely a tool use to bring this about.

Vanessa Williams recovered from being dumped for her sheer blouse on parade as Miss America, then girl-on-girl photos surfacing from a past job shoot. She has a better than decent voice. Though nothing to vie with Ella or Tina as a recording artist, Vanessa acts well, and is far superb to any “All American” Kathy Lee Gifford entertainer genre. She’s earned her place as a TV diva who will match Joan Collins’ longevity.
But I wouldn’t vote for her on a political ticket just because she’s one of the beautiful people.
