Michelle Obama: Don’t vote for a candidate just because “she’s cute”

She’s referring to herself, of course. Even though she’s, um, not a candidate.

Why, whom did you think she meant?

Michelle Obama says voters need to decide this election by examining the issues, not because they like a candidate or think “she’s cute.”

Obama spoke in Charlotte on Thursday morning at a women’s round-table on economic issues. The crowd roared at her remark disparaging voters who might cast a ballot because of a woman’s looks, a clear jab at Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin.

Obama tried to clarify her remark with a smile, saying she was talking about herself.

This makes three times that one of the Obamas has deliberately belittled Palin, not including Barry’s “lipstick on a pig” crack which everyone in the world misunderstood except, apparently, for the crowd that was sitting there laughing at it. The first time was when The One glossed over her credentials as governor on CNN, just like his campaign did on the day she was announced as McCain’s pick. That’s defensible, at least, as not so much a personal attack as an attempt to draw a more favorable contrast with his own meager resume. But what about the second time, when the Bride of The One dropped this on her?

Obama then moved on to politics, where she first brought up her husband’s vice-presidential choice. “I think it was a really good pick—Senator Joe Biden,” she said, and later added, “People say they have amazing chemistry, and it’s true.”

Obama continued with talk about Biden when she said, “What you learn about Barack from his choice is that he’s not afraid of smart people.” The crowd softly chuckled.

Another unfortunate misunderstanding, another curiously giggling crowd. Exit question: What’s an innocent “civilian” like Michelle doing out on the battlefield, lobbing grenades at the other side?

Of course if the McCain camp responds to this, Barry will claim they are “attacking” his wife. Nuance.

Obamas in the Mist. Suck it, Barack Hussein Obama Jr.

marklmail on September 18, 2008 at 7:40 PM

I wouldn’t vote for Palin because she’s cute. That’s just a perk. I’d vote for her because she treats libs and moose the same.

MO has spindly bowed legs topped by a fat ass, no tits, chipmunk cheeks and a wrinkled forehead like Worf from StarTrekNG. Yup..pretty ugly

Is Michelle Obama promoting the new odor, Fugly?

Calm Before the Storm on September 18, 2008 at 8:46 PM

Envy. Pure and simple. Correct, too. (the cute part)

The Lady Cudda has more class by far than the race baiting punks from Chi-town!

Any doubt that these two marxists are for forcing Slave Reparations!

If Sarahs winning the white man vote, the Jewish vote (usually solidly Dem) and close on white woman vote why are the polls even close?

Maybe they really aren’t!

cuteness is a problem? pffft. Makes some of the bad news a little easier to swallow should there ever be any, but cuteness aside the womans got spunk and isnt phoney.

Cute explains EVERY lib talking head on the news.

The hate Sarah ’cause she bests them at their own game.

Mojave Mark on September 18, 2008 at 9:59 PM

Actually, I could have topped it myself if I had spelled Comanche correctly.

Have you ever noticed that a ton of liberal chicks always look weird in some way. The face isn’t symetrical or eyes seem to small for the face or the head seems to big for the body? Maybe they were normal chicks at some point but at some point they screwed themselves up.
Susan estrich comes to mind, she could be a good looking chick but something just seems off, I can’t put my finger on it(nor would i want to)
Same drill for the guys(olbermann, Alan colmes)

Your eyes are not deceiving you they actually are and this explains some of the world view.

I’m not voting for her because she’s cute; I’m voting for her because she’s clean and articulate.

God love ya!

Upon perusing the posts here I have an idea … why don’t we have a thread which addresses the beauty, or lack thereof, of leftist-liberal females and conservative females, both physical beauty, and beauty of personality.

Tipping my hand here, I already find conservative women more compassionate, caring, fair minded, intelligent, brave, persevering, strong willed, decisive, selfless, generous, thoughtful, patient, and insightful than leftists-liberals.

I also have found them more physically attractive, perhaps because their personalities are also more attractive as well.

I know that the militant, hate filled, hostility of leftists-liberals regarding men, abortion, and more, is a BIG turnoff, and expecting government to be a sugar daddy is also a turnoff. Conservative women, especially married women, don’t want government to be their sugar daddy. Married conservative women have their husbands to love, and to help them and partner with in providing for their family.

Ok, Michelle.

I’ll do what most of Obama’s supporters are doing, and vote for him because he’s black.

(See, it’s ok for Joe Biden to say it, but not for me.)

Hawkins1701 on September 19, 2008 at 2:15 AM

Geraldine Ferraro, on Fox said Michelle was talking about herself and the comment is not sexist. Seriously, do they really think we are that stupid?

Great- those are the same qualities that helped George W. win the Presidency! I guess some things will never change.

This woman hasn’t demonstrated a keen intellict or exceptional knowledge. She hasn’t shared any insights or original thoughts that make her stand out.

Is it good to see the party of Lincoln and Roosevelt completely change its priorities? In 2000, the party started favoring candidates with the most unexceptional qualities, as if finding politicians with the most commonplace profiles will help the US compete in the global economy and solve the incredibly complex and difficult challenges that lie ahead.

You might go to California, or campuses of selective colleges, where most of the women are liberal. But that really isn’t the point. Attacking people because of their appearance instead of their character or the quality of their ideas is petty and shallow. It reminds me of all the photos comparing the expressions of Bush to the great apes.
