Open thread: Palin on “Hannity & Colmes”

posted at 8:40 pm on September 17, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

You’ll all be watching so let’s open a thread. Here’s the extended excerpt from the interview, thick with populist laments about “corruption” on Wall Street, in case you missed it in Headlines. Some commenters were grumbling that it’s too vague and boilerplate, but most people will be studying her less for flashes of insight than for reassurance that she has some basic sense of what she’s talking about. Grade on the curve for now; the debate with Biden is the final exam.

If the public at large is cooling to her, the crowds most assuredly are not.

I missed it, what did Rove do to Colmes?

Terrye on September 17, 2008 at 10:00 PM

If you can find it on You Tube – you must watch….

Rove ripped Alan a new one and handed it to him wrapped in purty paper with a big shiny bow.

It was brilliant.

tru2tx on September 17, 2008 at 10:07 PM

Wow Rove hit creased Alan across the his mellon with a Beuford Pusser stick.

The throw under the bus was good also. Not sure if they will fit under Obamas bus though, lol

tarpon on September 17, 2008 at 10:08 PM

OK, reaction to this – yes, I absolutely do want to see Sarah Palin as VP, and preferably as President at some point. The Troopergate-droolers are looking over something very important: she axes people who don’t get the job done. This is a lot like some COs I have known in the military and IMHO this is a very effective way to keep your staff and organization honest. I want someone like her who doesn’t F around running the show.

She handled herself very, very well and handled the ANWR question brilliantly. Of course Sean didn’t mess with her that much, but I think this is very reassuring to conservatives. I do wish she would open fire on Bambi, though.

humor is needed with Obama attacks. Her speech was funny and it worked. she needs to poke fun at biden. and Obama. the liberals hate it when we laugh at them. Far more than any attacks humor drive them nuts. IT’s an ego thing. In their mind they can be wrong but they do not like looking foolish. I think that was one of the main reasons that the Left attacked Palin so much. she brought down Obama by laughing at him.

No, I just checked his site. his audio downloads from today’s show aren’t posted yet.
He was basically reading from Obama’s website about Barrack’s plan to provide healthcare, food, water to every child in the world at US taxpayers’ expense. It was unbelievable. Obama does not intend to stop at being President of the USA. He wants to be the leader of the world.

McCain needs Rove to start taking down libs like K9 Karl just did. That was classic stuff. He ate the Colmie and spit him back out. Colmie was all flustered because he doesn’t think on his feet all that fast anyway.

Glad to see someone finally hit Colmie with facts and make him just fold.

Seans a nice guy, but lets face it, he’s the “Conservatism for Dummies” type of guy. Rarely will you see a very intellectual debate with him. It’s very plain and predictable. He follows talking points too much. Never reaches back in an instant with hard core stuff. Rove has that down. That’s why libs hate him so much.

fiatboomer on September 17, 2008 at 9:44 PM

So is this how you respond to people who ask honest questions, folks who care not for political parties but rather demand excellence from anyone seeking elected office?
Look, Palin’s interview was quite pitiful. It’s kind of ironic: politicians have never had the ability to get their message heard as they do now, yet they actually say so very little. Such a waste. There’s no contest in terms of content of speeches given by leaders of old and contemporary politicians. Who needs a message when image is all that counts? Who needs a systematic political philosophy when you can woo an audience through irrelevant, yet somehow effective, platitudes and cliches that used to mean something. Just saying, “I’ll help make this country safer, more prosperous, more energy independent…” means nil to me. I want to know how, not just what. So she’ll help make the country “safer”? Really? So, what does that mean for the southern border? “More prosperous”? How? Taking money from successful companies and giving it to everyone else (like Alaska does with the oil companies)? “More energy independent”? How? Sen. McCain has already nixed ANWR drilling and is a Global Warming apologist. I ask, how is this different than the Democratic platform?
Granted, the Democratic response reminded me of “My Cousin Vinny” where Joe Pesci wakes up and says, “Everything that guy said is bull****. Thank you.” Heck, in our culture, if Obama did just that, I’d bet good money that his popularity would soar.

The left is definately organized today. The different blogs are definately on very similiar talking points.

Any discussion about her e-mail is (what was she hiding behind a private e-mail instead of government accounts)

They’re collectively saying the poll bounce is either (McCain/Palin got p’wned on economic discussion) or (the conservatives are turning on Palin)

They are all over the web and they are saying more acidic evil things than I ever thought I would hear about one person, They absolutely hate her. Some of their rhetoric actually scares me for and of them that have to be in public during this campaign.

Snore.

This is all just old Obamacrap that is already factored into the mix a long time ago. Actually i don’t think the Obama campaign has been ‘on message’ as you say. They’ve trotted out all kinds of distorted gunk, like McCain running the most dishonorable campaign, etc. What I see happening is that the MSM is reporting no gaffes (like Biden’s last five or six the past couple of days). If they are on message with this stuff I hope they keep on it, I doubt it will throw the McCain camp off its stride. Which by the way I think they’re rounding into form again on the economy and will start hammering the Dems with the collusion stuff in FM and FM.

Question for Michelle Malkin: “Michelle, when are you going to get rid of Allahpundit and hand the helm here over to someone with a brain?“

AntonK on September 17, 2008 at 9:19 PM

I know this has already been addressed, but this really hacked me off. I do not always agree with AP, but how dull would it be if there was no boos to our yays, and someone keeping us thinking about, or at the very least defending what we do believe in. Secondly, Michelle Malkin hired him and that is good enough for me. I would trust the woman with my kids, and I have never met her. So I think she was and is smart enough to know whom to have running this show.

Off topic, I read one of the titles of the stories on the header and it said AP knows who broke into Palin’s email. My first thought was Allah knows who did this? LOL!

Back to topic, I think she and McCain both must be more specific. The battleground states are certainly looking for more defined answers to job woes they are all suffering from. Sure most of these states are being run by Democrats, but ultimately we all pay the price via elections and taxes when other states suffer.

I am tired of hearing the word “reform”, “Maverick”, and “foreign policy”. They are going to have to get off the speech she made and move on to some new verbage. But I pay more attention to this stuff and listen to most everything and not all folks do.

I think she did well, but CONGRESS and CLINTON was the reason for the financial issues and I am not liking the trashing of Wall Street mantra. IF they keep this up some Americans are going to want more regulation that is not needed and capitalism will falter or eventually die off. I am hoping some of this is just to play to the Indies and Dem voters, but you never know with Johnny Mac. He needs to go after and name Dodd, Frank, Biden, Obama and all those in the GOP that are in on this Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac business.
All in all I think she did okay.

ManlyRash on September 17, 2008 at 10:39 PM

I let it go some time back Manly.

It’s all good.

Couric’s going to go after Palin hard on foreign policy.

Palin needs to remember.

America RA RA RA

Get the terrorists – even with limited strikes in Pakistan. easier to ask for forgiveness than ask permission.

Defend our allies. Increase NATO membership.

Win in Iraq.

It’s not that tough, really.

lorien1973 on September 17, 2008 at 10:42 PM

The Lefty trolls are definitely spamming Greta’s poll.

No. Greta showed some highlights on fox just a moment ago.

The View c*nts make me ill.

FiveWays on September 17, 2008 at 10:43 PM

I just saw a clip of the view. again. let me just say:

Gag me. .I need to go clorox my eyes

anniekc on September 17, 2008 at 10:44 PM

That made me cringe a little. Couric’s going to go after Palin hard on foreign policy. Bank on it.

FiveWays on September 17, 2008 at 10:40 PM

Couric is yet another empty-headed reporter with an agenda. If Palin prepares well, she could realistically kick Couric’s aft across the universe. But of course she can’t take anything for granted.

Cool. Lotta posts here. Sorry if I seemed to jump on ya.

This election is about John McCain and his positions.

I never expected anything from Palin other than agreeing with her presidential candidate and working in an executive position carrying out orders by her commander in chief.

I’m still comfortable.

winemkr on September 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM

Just watched Governor Palin and Senator McCain on Greta at their town hall meeting. As usual, Sarah hits it out of the park. She is the genuine article. Amazing. McCain did well, too. They are an amazing team. They complement each other well. The crowd seems to love them, too. You Go Girl!

I’d love to see those View clips back to back repeatedly …. “I’m John McCain, and I approved this ad”.

Marcus on September 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM

Couric is a perky jerk.

bloggless on September 17, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Tension? Oh no, no tension there. What a bunch of sea hags. even the young blond- does she have no dignity?
