Open thread: Palin on “Hannity & Colmes”

posted at 8:40 pm on September 17, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | regular view

You’ll all be watching so let’s open a thread. Here’s the extended excerpt from the interview, thick with populist laments about “corruption” on Wall Street, in case you missed it in Headlines. Some commenters were grumbling that it’s too vague and boilerplate, but most people will be studying her less for flashes of insight than for reassurance that she has some basic sense of what she’s talking about. Grade on the curve for now; the debate with Biden is the final exam.

If the public at large is cooling to her, the crowds most assuredly are not.

Was it Sean that talked to Pelosi’s daughter and for 5 minutes said “answer my question” (not that she ever did)?

OMG Rove just threw Alan back into the steel cage. Then he jumped off the turnbuckle.

No Bill. If Obama wins, come down here to Texas. We can successfully secede. We have our own miliary, NASA, oil, farms, cattle, guns, and hot babes/hunky dudes. It’s a great place to live. Golf in January, coast, mountants and lakes.

C’momn down y’all!

So much for laissez faire. How about less government involvement?

Was it Sean that talked to Pelosi’s daughter and for 5 minutes said “answer my question” (not that she ever did)?

Pianobuff on September 17, 2008 at 9:48 PM

Yes! I saw that. He could not get her to answer a simple yes or no question: Would it be a step back for women if Gov. Palin was elected VP?

carbon_footprint on September 17, 2008 at 9:50 PM

Rove is awesome!

Govgirl on September 17, 2008 at 9:50 PM

Pianobuf, yes it was Sean. Pelosi’s daughter refused to acknowledge that a Palin Vice PResidency would be a positive thing for women. She simply wouldn’t answer. She refused to disagree with Biden. A stubborn, party line bitch, just like her mother.

cannonball on September 17, 2008 at 9:50 PM

Mr. Colmes, please just shut up. You are so stupid you are an embarrassment to the Democratic party.

The garbage that comes out of you mouth is discussing..

IF Obama is elected I hope you are the last in line at the soup kitchen.

What school of stupid did you go to?

Fox should take you off the air.

Uhh…dude, you still have an “Edwards ‘08″ banner on your site; you might want to refrain from giving advice to Palin. Jus’ sayin’.

I left that for historical reason for everyone to see where I was coming for prior to endorsing Obama.

Plus, I’m not sure I’m giving any advice to Palin.

Chudi on September 17, 2008 at 9:54 PM

but frustrating when only Wall Street gets the blame for Democrat economic/social engineering.

OK, you’re not a meathead (sorry), I see what your point is, you want her to smash the Dems in the way the truly deserve. I don’t see what she DID say as populism though, just plain old fashioned Americanism . . . you know, government for the people, etc. I think the McCain campaign wants to come out with all that stuff in a concerted effort and today may not be the right time.

Rove is on fire tonight. Can’t stand that guy Colmes.

JonPrichard on September 17, 2008 at 9:54 PM

know about what?

lorien1973 on September 17, 2008 at 9:39 PM

This is how it all started……. Social Engineering for votes, and guess who is going to pay the price?

Worth the read:

“But it was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that dictated where mortgage lenders could lend, and originally helped create the market for the high-risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus the balance sheets of many of Wall Street’s most revered institutions.”

Carter initial concept + Clinton lobbied to pass regulation for lending institutions to make bad loans or be hit by government fines + Democrat stooges are put in charge of Fanny Mae and money + Money is laundered back to Democrats to block any type of reform or oversight + Democrat stooges make $100 Millions that truly belong to the share holders and investors + more unsecured loans are forced on lending institutions or else face government penalties + 20 million illegal aliens get the loans + they send all their money back to Mexico and don’t pay the mortgage + the promise of the loan is insured by the taxpayers as long as you vote Democrat + resistance to any real anti-ILLEGAL immigration reform by the democrats + Democrats and MSM hide what is going on to the American people = Collapse of the American Economy and it is all Bush’s fault.

Does that about sum it up?

Seven Percent Solution on September 17, 2008 at 9:55 PM

Night and day difference. It really shows just how bad Gibson was. Hannity is respectful, the camera angles treat her as an equal, and not some lowly peasant in the presence of Lord Gibson, and she can actually answer questions without fear that she’ll be edited the heck out of.

We need Sarah here and if you don’t like it, well, we’ll take her and that other guy.

kellyjane on September 17, 2008 at 9:56 PM

I thought Palin did very well. she is easy to listen to.

And I don’t mind some of that populist stuff. The problem was the greedy guys on wall street and the greedy guys at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the greedy guys in the Democratic party got together and made a mess.

If I understand this right, the Alaskan government takes money from oil company profits and gives it to the people at large?

Why not? Should Alaska charge the oil companies below market rate? Unlike my state, which no matter how much revenue it takes in, spends billions of dollars more until we are 15 billion in the whole, the state of Alaska is fiscally sound. They have money in the bank and enough to return the citizens of Alaska who OWN the resources that are being sold to the companies.

unseen on September 17, 2008 at 10:02 PM

McCain needs to do to Obama what Rove just did to Alan. The campaign has shown that they have it in them. I suspect that someone thought that the public would want a more upbeat message not more mudslinging during the crisis. They might have been right but McCain flubbed with the fundamentals line. I suspect that they will have some heavy hitting ads out tomorrow.

Tuari on September 17, 2008 at 9:55 PM

Yeah, I’ve never understand why Republicans feel it is necessary to go on the MSM to give interviews they know will be hack jobs. Though Sarah Palin did great on ABC, there was no reason for her to legitimize the MSM after all their attacks. Everyone knew that they were going to do camera angles and editing to make her appear in the worst possible way and ask gotcha questions. From now on it should only be live interviews with the MSM.

most people will be studying her less for flashes of insight than for reassurance that she has some basic sense of what she’s talking about.

Which people need reassurance that “she has some basic sense of what she’s talking about?” She did fine on the ABC interview. Nobody but liberals think otherwise.

Gabe on September 17, 2008 at 10:05 PM

There’s a real question. “Many people make promises to cut spending. How do you actually make it happen?” Has anyone asked Obama how he expects to pay for his socialist agenda?

So, I wonder if McCain will talk about Obama taking money from the bad guys? I hope so. I really was shocked to find out that Frank Raines was with the Obama campaign. The nerve of those people. You would think that with everything going on they would distance themselves from people like that.

I bet Rove is frustrated. Bush started talking about all this back in 2003 and no one wanted to listen.

I can’t believe they still have the screen shots up that are stolen from a private email account. Huffington Post really don’t understand the gravity? Maybe when the Secret Service shows up.
