Jack Cafferty: If Obama loses, it’s because of racism

posted at 1:10 pm on September 17, 2008 by Allahpundit

Technically he’s asking, not asserting, but it’s no more an earnest question than the chyrons on Cavuto’s show are. Could it be that McCain is a strong candidate and The One simply hasn’t run a very good general election campaign, as many Dems admit? Nah. The flaw in that theory is that it would legitimize a McCain victory, and we simply can’t have that: It’s an article of leftist faith that not only has no Republican been legitimately elected since Bush I in 1988, no Republican could possibly be legitimately elected after eight years of Bush II. If Maverick pulls it out, there’ll simply have to be an alternative, discrediting explanation. And so here it is, preemptively, just in case there are no Diebold snafus on Election Day to demagogue. Expect much more next month, needless to say, as well as the odd veiled threat or two if McCain holds tight in the polls and the Democrats start to panic. Biden’s and Sebelius’s comments are just the start.

Update: Forgot to mention — stick with it until the end or you’ll miss the viewer hypothetical about how The One, supposedly doomed by racism, might be faring right now with Hillary as his VP.

Yeah, it seems to be slowly dawning on them like something from a Kafka novel that a) they could lose and b) there’s only one winning issue left.

John on September 17, 2008 at 1:14 PM

There wasn’t much evidence of that in the primaries. Polling was pretty close to results, wasn’t it?

lodge on September 17, 2008 at 1:15 PM

Technically he’s asking, not asserting

I disagree. This is what Cafferty said before he asked his question:

“He [McCain] is Washington and very much apart of the George Bush legacy and yet the polls are very close which doesn’t make a lot of sense unless it’s race.”

And because he’s a Liberal Extremist.

Chakra Hammer on September 17, 2008 at 1:15 PM

Please tell me what Republican in the primary would be this close in the polls today as McCain is? There is none. McCain image makes this election so close (added to the fact that we haven’t had an non-incumbent running since 1952). Racism is out there, yes, but I doubt it has as much impact as some are attributing to it.

Also, where do these racists belong? Democrat racists? Independent racists? It wouldn’t make sense for a Republican racist to vote for a Democrat, so obviously they aren’t talking about them. The election is this close because of McCain, not racism.

DanStark on September 17, 2008 at 1:16 PM

carbon_footprint on September 17, 2008 at 1:18 PM

Yes. It is being revealed that accusations of racism are all the left has to refute McCain/Palin’s rise in the polls.

I know the majority of Americans, who aren’t racist, will reject this BS and vote McCain/Palin.

After they lose, the Dems will scream racism until their throats are hoarse. What a bunch of childish losers.

alteredbeat on September 17, 2008 at 1:18 PM

And the left will never look in the mirror and contemplate that perhaps, just perhaps, America is fed up with 60s liberalism and blame America first attitudes. Or, that they are the ones perpetuating the “America is racist” meme, and if the libs would just shut up and go away, the country would continue to progress on the issue.

Notice it is the liberal left MSM that is making all the caterwauling on the subject of race. They have to make this argument because they can’t use the argument of female discrimination that they were saving up for when they all thought Shillary would be the Democratic nominee. The only way they could now use the argument would be due to the ridiculous personal attacks on Sarah Palin, but we already know there is no way in hell they will do that, since the majority of these same attacks are coming from THEM!

By the way, anyone ever notice that Jack Cafferty always looks like he belongs in a laxative commercial?

…if you vote against someone on account of their race as a primary factor, its’ racism.

…if, as with 90% of the already Democratic black voting block, you vote for someone one account of his race as a primary factor, it’s racism.

racism n.
1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition copyright ©2000 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Updated in 2003. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company.

…see…from a real dictionary, not the bowels of the Democratic Ministry of Truth…

Well, try this on for size:

dis·crim·i·na·tion (d-skrm-nshn)
n.

2. The ability or power to see or make fine distinctions; discernment.

ibid.

…so, to choose — discriminate=choose from among what’s on offer — based on race, racism.

To claim that someone losing an election based on racism?

whine (hwn, wn)
v. whined, whin·ing, whines
v.intr.
1. To utter a plaintive, high-pitched, protracted sound, as in pain, fear, supplication, or complaint.
2. To complain or protest in a childish fashion.

ibid.

…so, it would seem that Mr. C is preemptively whining…as in “He’s a bad man, Mr. Policeman, and I know he’s gonna steal my candy, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

Still…while November the 5th may be as calm as a millpond (aside from the inevitable, endless “analysis” by opinion whores and actual whining from those off beyond the left side of reality) if Mr. McCain wins, it might be wise to stock up water, batteries and MREs for the promised race-riots and demonstrations.

…it worked for Y2K….

Puritan1648 on September 17, 2008 at 1:25 PM

Note to Caffety et all who’re in Obama’s crotch -

Clinton top fundraiser states clearly why O. will lose

Lynn Forester de Rothschild has said she thinks Democratic nominee Barack Obama is arrogant and has a problem connecting with average Americans.

Entelechy on September 17, 2008 at 1:25 PM

Of course racism exists in this election. The demographic detail in the polls demonstrate it beyond any reasonable (okay, got me there) doubt.

The problem of course is that its the ‘wrong’ race showing racism. Can’t really talk about *that* on TV now can we?

To show the demonstrable racism, the MSM would have to bring up race, which would be racist – right?

My theory? Not talking about the racist elephant in the polling data living room is a self defense mechanism. It seems the Liberal Brains spontaneously creates a self consuming Black Hole if required to contemplate the concept that someone ‘of race’ might, or even can ever, be racist.

Obama’s big problem now is that people are realizing that underneath his skin, he’s Jack Cafferty. That’s way too big a problem for anybody to overcome. P.S. Have you ever noticed that when a black person is involved, his/her accomplishments are always based upon his/her outstanding merit [having nothing to do with the reverse racism of affirmative action]; but, his/her failures are always due to the racism that will never end in this country.

If only for a day, I wish that the failures in life, for some, could be blamed on something – other than racism.

Think this Alinsky disciple isn’t willing to use race to rub raw the lefterns wounds after a loss? Or if they think they are going to lose? He is running a new kind of politics after all – the kind we had to fight to put behind us after the Civil War, the kind that killed MLK.

Dangerous mix of ‘I am, said I’, limitless ambition, and willingness to cut open healed wounds to advance his cause.

I detest Hillary for this. (oh, and obama probably does this too.)

Jack Cafferty asks: Will Barack Obama’s race cost him the White House?

Absolutely! It will absolutely have everything to do with his race – his political race. He has arguably run the worst Presidential race in decades, and the only thing keeping him alfoat is that the country is pretty evenly split between Republicans and Libtards. Without that split he’d be circling the drain already.

Now if he wants to talk about color as the race issue, why didn’t he ask this question when Michael Steele was running two years ago? Oops, forgot, Steele is a Republican…

Brass Pair on September 17, 2008 at 1:39 PM

Jack Cafferty I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but the citizens are free to vote for whoever they want based on whatever they think. Had they put up a black man with the skill and experience of say, Douglas Wilder and he lost, then they could more reasonably make the claim race had a role in his defeat.

Elizabetty on September 17, 2008 at 1:48 PM

I have no idea why this jerk is on TV. Obama is where he is because of reverse racism. Ferraro was right, in this campaign it was a huge plus to be black.

A man of so little experience and accomplishment would never get anywhere without a hook. Obama’s hook is his race. And a lot of mob money no doubt.

There is no way that the most liberal man in the Senate should be nominated by Democrats and even less should be elected by independents and Republicans. It does not make sense and should not be so.

Race is the only explanation.

if a black man can run an hard-fought party primary campaign…

…and then lose in the general election because his decisions were as screwed up as a football bat…

…because his staff were as dextrous as an elephant on ice skates

…and because the media — his erstwhile champions — were as blinded by their own agendas when his opponent chose a citizen instead of an insider as a running mate (picture a cat chasing a laser pointer here)

…I’d have to call it “democracy in action”…losing fair and square. That proves the health of the system.

The man will have lost because he wasn’t entitled to the position…he fought and lost an election, even with muddying of the race and gender issues by his own people and partisans, on merit.

Maybe next time a black man — or woman, or black woman, or a gay left-handed Jewish Eskimo with a harelip in a wheelchair — can win fair and square…because of the campaign he fights….

…you know…on the merits….

So being a socialst isn’t enough? Couldn’t be his friends, his associates, his politics, his thinking, his behavior, his stance (pick-a-day)?

It’s has to be race. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Personally, if a blue-skinned, woman of Asian descent showed up and said only part of the things we hope to have with McCain and Palin – but was a Democrat, then I’d consider voting for her.

Seems to me that the GOP is doing quite nicely with a female VP candidate (something Obama had the chance to have, but passed… putting 18 million votes back in play.)

While McCain probably won’t attract much of the black vote (12.8% of the population) Obama went out of his way to alientate women voters (50.1% of the population.)

Or could it be that his pompous remarks about “people clinging to guns and religion,” ticked off 42% and up to 94% of the voting public, respectively?

Ot could it be that Americans simply do not trust Obama’s socio-political history, his lack of experience, or his apparent desire to move the U.S. toward European-style socialism?

Sorry, my not voting for Obama doesn’t make me a racist… but it does make the shills at CNN race-baiters.

it might be wise to stock up water, batteries and MREs for the promised race-riots and demonstrations.

Funny you should mention that. My husband already stocked up on all of the above (including ammunition) in case Barack Obama WINS, not loses. Not because of riots and demonstrations, either.

Is Jack Cafferty applying for a job at MSNBC? My goodness. This guy is beyond moronic.

The real reason it would have to be about race is because there’s no real difference in their policies, just like there was no difference between Obama and Hillary.

Yup, makes sense to me.

If O. loses, I’ll get drunk, for the first time ever. I’ll stay off bicycles, though :)

You’d better, when he’s driving around your neighborhood.

Maybe it was a rhetorical question?

Did ya’ll forget Mayor Jackson (not Jesse Jackson) of Atlanta, Georgia from 1974 until 1982 and a third term from 1990 to 1994? What about Mayor Kwame? ooohh bad example….
