Video: Born-alive survivor scolds Obama on vote protecting infanticide

posted at 7:14 am on September 16, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

A new pro-life group comes out swinging today, and it chose a powerful spokeswoman for their cause. Gianna Jesson survived a saline abortion 31 years ago, and has fought to stop the barbaric practice of leaving such living infants to die by abortionists unwilling to face the failure of their procedure. Jesson testified in 2001-2 to get Congress to pass the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, and now she joins Born Alive Truth to point the finger at the only current member of the Senate to have voted against such a bill:

In this powerful ad sponsored by BornAliveTruth.org, abortion survivor Gianna Jesson questions Barack Obama for his active opposition as state senator to IL’s Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

Born Alive was introduced to stop IL hospitals from leaving babies who survived their abortions in soiled utility rooms to die. …

Born Alive passed on the federal level overwhelmingly. The abortion group NARAL even expressed neutrality on the bill, which passed unanimously in the U.S. Senate 98-0.

Barack Obama is such an abortion extremist, he has positioned himself to the left of the entire U.S. Senate and NARAL.

If it were up to Obama, Gianna would not be here today.

We have covered Obama’s track record on infanticide in several posts:

Make no mistake about this.  Obama voted four times to protect this barbaric practice, even after hearing direct testimony from a witness about how babies were left to die from neglect after surviving their abortion.  Obama worried more about the burden on the abortionists than he did about the child.

Gianna Jesson shows how heartless and cold those four votes were, and is a living reminder of the countless children that Obama failed to protect — and who aren’t around to make this commercial because of Obama’s success in killing the Illinois bill that would have saved their lives.

Update: Jesson appeared on Hannity & Colmes last night:

ALL babies are wanted, not always by their mothers, but they are indeed wanted. Millions of loving couples are waiting for babies to adopt. God wanted these babies born or He wouldn’t have given them live.

Wow, your god is one sick puppy then because I’ve seen babies born without vital organs, with life-long debilitating defects and others born with massive brain damage due to the drugs the mother took while pregnant. That’s not to mention the babies that are born from rape and incest. And YOUR god wants all of that suffering? Gee man, are you sure that you’re not worshiping the Devil instead?

DanKenton on September 16, 2008 at 11:15 PM

You silly little fetus-freaks never learn

Fortunately for you, and unfortunately for everyone else, your mommy was a “fetus-freak.” Among other varieties of freak, I would imagine.

Jim Treacher on September 16, 2008 at 11:35 PM

DanKenton – Go volunteer at your local Scottish Rite Hospital to witness first hand how many kids with severe disabilities are supported and cared for (without charge, BTW) to see how God works to give us strength to face a less than perfect life. That strength and guidance is what makes makes the difference between the mom who chooses life for her Down’s child and the one who chooses death.

Do you plan to tell God all of that when you see him. I’m praying for you that His mercy is sufficient.

Wrong Jimmy. My mom “CHOSE” to get pregnant and she “CHOSE” to raise and care for me in a RESPONSIBLE manner. You fetus/jeebus-freak only consider life sacred for the pre-born, but never the post-born. You have no problem killing life when it doesn’t fit your funny little cult-like code of BS. If you really believe that each man stands before jeebus, then what the hell do you care what other people do? Are you going to say, “Uh, jeebus, I tried to stop abortion on earth…am I cool?” To which jeebus should say, “Fine pinhead, what about the abortion doctors and staff that were killed in the process, how about every soldier that died in a war that YOU supported AND what about every human that died from suffering and needless killing including those on death row?” I’ve got news for you, if saving lives is what you’re trying to impress jeebus with, you’d better get your excuses ready.

Actually, if you look closely, you’ll see that it’s actually HUMAN BEINGS that are doing these tasks, no some mythical, sky-jockey with a “grand plan” for some to suffer while others succeed. But if that’s your definition of divine intervention, you’re easily impressed.

Current evidence to the contrary.

“Jeebus-freak”? Let’s dial down the troll factor by five or six notches, please.

Good luck with that one, AP.

If you want to see just one example of how God uses those that you would probably want to see killed before they were even born, check out Nick Vujicic’s web site at

I was fortunate enough to hear Nick speak at a local church recently and then meet him in person afterwards. What an inspirational young man he is! Check out his web site and tell me again about suffering with out purpose.

For some reason, the links were not working for me in the message above. Nick Vujicic, who was born without arms or legs, has a web site at: http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org

ABC Brisbane interviewed her recently, too

Her mother confronted her and stated ‘you are an embarrasment to our family’

That’s pretty hardk0re.

“so she berated you for living?”
“yes”
“did she not see something.. perhaps a little unusual about that?”
she‘s a broken woman.”

Actually, uncle, the timeline is as follows:

Original Illinois abortion law–1975
Federal “born alive” law–August, 2002
New Illinois “born alive” legislation–2003

There is just something about the purity of the name Jesus that some cannot just come to grips with, so they use some other name…as if they fear the name.
Funny, they fear something they don’t believe in…

right2bright on September 17, 2008 at 10:28 AM

Laura Ingraham scolds Cindy McCain for punting the interview question.

Advice:
John, don’t launch spouse for interviews.
Cindy, don’t demise McCain’s pro-life position to be abused the opponent. When there’s a difference of opinion with your husband’s political platform, defer to McCain’s position or keep your personal views to yourself.

Seems reasonable.

She is one courageous woman. God bless her.

Idiot liberals like my brother rail about how Palin will ‘bring out those knuckle-dragging, one issue voters!’. When I thought about his favorite rant it finally dawned on me: his wife, (then girlfriend) had an abortion when she was 17-18. He told me that she wasn’t pregnant after all, but my mom’s behavior said otherwise. He is riddled with guilt to this day; how dare the religious right shove his face in (t)his mess every election year?!!! He’ll never grow up and take responsibility because it would destroy him.

Christine on September 17, 2008 at 11:53 AM

“You fetus/jeebus-freak only consider life sacred for the pre-born, but never the post-born.” DanKenton: that was so intelligent! NOT.
I don’t fit your profile but my view is that lefties promote their culture of death with abortion on demand and when they do decide to have a child, they begin neglecting and abusing their children as soon as they are born, because narcissists are unfit to be parents.
My parenthood and the Clinton years made a conservative out of me and like an ex-smoker, there ain’t nothing worse than a reformed lefty.

Christine on September 17, 2008 at 12:06 PM

Also: An abortion may end a potential life, even murder a viable baby, but liberal ‘parents’ often ‘soul murder’ their children if they succumb to the urge to ‘breed’.
I can’t decide which is worse. I gotta get the hang of the term: nuance.

So is she still just a blob of tissue? Was she a blob of tissue in the uterus?

right4life on September 17, 2008 at 1:53 PM

I’m pretty sure it’s NOT Obama who wanted you dead…try asking your mommy about it instead. You silly little fetus-freaks never learn: abortions are just like guns…try and outlaw them and the black market will thank you.
DanKenton on September 16, 2008 at 7:54 PM

Obama is an enabler on a massive scale; he’d enable millions more abortions. Just as bad.

And don’t give me that ‘abortion black market’ cr@p. Illegal abortions were a TINY percentage of the mass slaughter we have now – the ‘clinics’ were usually dirty, run by shifty persons, and located in dangerous neighborhoods.

No, if one got ‘in trouble’ back in the day, ya had ONE option: have the frakking baby. That’s a law of nature, Trying to circumvent it is a bad idea as witness this brave survivor.

Why? because you can’t turn off unprotected sex and UNWANTED babies…

Grain of truth. We *could* offer sterilizations for free or even with incentives to do so…IF there wasn’t some obsession over the right to have kids no matter what.

Dark-Star on September 17, 2008 at 2:08 PM

Whaddyaknow. If you find abortion abhorrent, you’re a… ‘jeebus-freak’?

huh.

I do like how bass-ackwards his ‘hypocrisy’ argument is though. So basically you have no rights until you’re ‘born’… and then you do have rights, but only the ones the government lets you have, or something?

Reaps on September 17, 2008 at 7:43 PM

You fetus/jeebus-freak only consider life sacred for the pre-born, but never the post-born.

And you people don’t consider humans as anything but a blight on the earth. Not to mention – you think you’re above anything as provincial as “morals”. What’s funny is you think all your new-age stuff is actually new.

Dan, I’m all for free speech, but you’re so obnoxious I sure hope Allah brings out the banhammer.
