Later on, people will understand that Obama lost this election the exact moment that broke his pledge by turning down the public financing system.

Funny you should mention the NRCC.

I don't know of a more disgraceful Republican fundraising effort.

I first discovered this scam last year when the California small-business I was working for received a phone call.

They use B2B telemarketing to flatter small business owners with honorary chairmanship of an imaginary "Business Advisory Council" -- in exchange for money of course.

Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole is the leader of that shenanigan.

This is the kind of things that make all Republicans look bad.
Idiots.

Obama campaign so far has agreed only to let Senate Democrats use Obama’s name — as well as those of his wife and running mate

Umm, Barry, we don't want those things - in fact, keep your loser a** away from our campaigns. But we do want your little green-n-white pieces of paper that have pictures of old dead white guys that look nothing like you.

Is Obama REALLY spending all that money on the campaign?

I don’t see how unless he is giving every democrat voter $500 to vote for him.

Elizabetty on September 16, 2008 at 11:43 AM

I have a feeling there are quite a few creatively fictionalized expenses -- such as people who two or three years ago spoke freely about how they didn't like his tactics in Chicago for instance, but today support him, as a paid campaign "advisor" or "organizer."

It's got to be a drain.

[...] Ed: Obama told the Saddleback Forum that the major failing of America was a lack of charity, a statement that shows a fundamental lack of understanding of his own nation. He then selected a skinflint for a running mate, and now gives a poor demonstration of sharing among his own colleagues. Beyond that, though, this shows how badly Obama miscalculated when he betrayed his pledge and became the first major-party candidate since Watergate to opt out of the public-financing system and its spending limits. His selfishness will cost Democrats down the ticket, and perhaps himself an election if he can’t raise $100 million a month on his own.
This is a campaign commercial ready to happen.

"Obama recently refused to help his fellow Democrat millionaires in the Senate. [Picture of the usual suspects.] With Obama's half-brother living in a hut in Kenya [picture of same], should they really be surprised?"

[Obama clip from Saddleback on Americans' lack of charity]; [clip of the lovely and gracious Michelle Obama saying Americans are just mean]; [Obama clip reciting liberals' favorite Bible verse about the least of our brothers].

The NRSC, NRCC, and RNC do not have to compete with the McCain campaign for the final 60 days, making their fundraising efforts a lot less complicated.

Moreover, because McCain took public financing, he will be relying much more on joint efforts with the RNC and state parties (which has to support other candidates also). I would bet they have budgeted pure McCain money vs. McCain/RNC money to get the most bang for the buck in states where there are hot Senate races.

When Obama says "America," do you think he means "Americans" collectively...or the federal government of the United States of America?

I seem to remember media complaints that the US government was giving a smaller fraction of GDP to victims of the tsunami disaster, leaving out that the private donations of US citizens swamp everything else.

Possibly the main failing of Liberals (or what we call liberals now) is an over dependence on theory, and a lack of respect for the tried and true.

Trust me, I've been there. A good definition of a neo-con might well be someone who has watched his favorite theory blow up in his face.
