Meghan McCain on Palin: “She’s really chill”

posted at 4:02 pm on September 16, 2008 by Allahpundit

Meghan can do (almost) no wrong, a fact acknowledged even by a magazine as reliably lefty as Slate. Even so, Breitbart’s clearly mocking the goofiness of her response, which makes me wonder if we haven’t reached saturation point now with tales of the ‘Cuda’s extraordinary ordinariness. Hockey mom, five kids, hunts, good with pop culture — fantastic. It’s high time to transition to phase two: Operation Gravitas. Which I guess is what this little stop on the trail next week is all about. Click the image to watch.

BINGO

Chill out, people. Megan knows what she is doing and she is doing it very, very well. She’s one classy young lady.

ManlyRash on September 16, 2008 at 4:07 PM

McCain should take her to Iraq as well – but on the quiet. There’s no need to make a big stunt out of it.

One thing is for sure, Palin has given the Obama campaign a serious case of the chills.

420sniper on September 16, 2008 at 4:12 PM

I don’t mean to throw cold water, but what I find interesting about Meghan McCain is that she is 24, single and apparently has all the time in the world to sit around and do nothing but find ways to get recognition and make money off of her name.

She is like the Paris Hilton of the 2008 campaign.

BigD on September 16, 2008 at 4:12 PM

Indeed Allah. Gravitas is needed.

Personally, if Palin is going to be the vice-president, I don’t care if she’s up-to-speed on pop-culture. What is happening on TMZ has absolutely no bearing on our national security or foreign policy.

Unless of course Paris Hilton plans on purchasing the nation of Zimbabwe…

Not quite. Meghan is actually working hard on behalf of her father’s campaign – as opposed to Paris Hilton, who is whoring really hard in her father’s hotels.

BigD on September 16, 2008 at 4:12 PM

I don’t think she’s trying to make money off her name (how anyway?). I’m sure she gets a nice enough allowance. But it’s not unusual for candidates kids, especially in their 30’s and under, to pretty much join the campaign fulltime

BuzzCrutcher on September 16, 2008 at 4:20 PM

Not quite. Meghan is actually working hard on behalf of her father’s campaign

My point was, she’s 24, single and doesn’t have a real job? She doesn’t have any other responsibilities? She can just campaign all the time?

BigD on September 16, 2008 at 4:20 PM

I love the Palin and McCain families. Michelle Obama grates on me.

Whatever, bimbo. Here is a hint, most of us are only voting for your daddy because Obama sucks even more. We all know in our heart of hearts that the “chill” Sarah Palin is not ready to be POTUS. But, still, better than Obama. Soooooooo, shut the hell up.

On what basis do you judge Ms. McCain to be a bimbo?

What makes Sarah Palin any less ready for the vice-presidency than Obama is for the presidency?

Does her executive experience count for anything in your analysis?

ManlyRash on September 16, 2008 at 4:25 PM

Perhaps….that, and Palin lights up our lobes.

After seeing McCain of F&F this morning yabbering moronically about the economy, corruption, fat cat execs etc…..I was reminded exactly why I didn’t want to see him in the White House, and how phenomenally fortunate he is to have Palin supporting him.

Meghan McCain is a trust fund baby. She think Palin’s understanding pop culture is the important thing in this campaign. Her claim to fame is her parent’s name.

As a lifelong democrat I was all excited to vote for Barack Obama when it dawned on me that Joe Biden’s son is in no small part the very lobbysit class our Messiah has been decrying. Aside from the potential conflict of interest of a Vice-President’s son lobbying a Presidential candidate it makes me wonder just who got the most lobbying money from these failing banks. I have made it a personal policy to vote for the party that screws the little guy the least and in this case, sadly it looks like John McCain.

EACH time? Might as well go back to sparring with the trolls. Or just posting DFTT in the response.

He meant ‘Republican’ politicians. Please pay attention.

duly noted…

BigD, it’s none of my business, but I think you could use some Metamucil.

She works for her father’s campaign, and she does a damn good job with her blog and her little film crew. She’s going after the youngster vote, as others here have said.

sparring with the idiots brings out the occasional epic post and since they spout moonbat talking points they actually sharpen our talking point fu….

I’ve seen some of the reports from Meghan McCain. I think she does a good job, and appreciate her outreach to young voters, who shouldn’t simply be ignored or ridiculed, like the Obama campaign does to older voters.

Of course, I have no idea what the contemporary slang definition of “chill” means, as Ms. McCain is using it here, even after an internet search, but I assume its a desirable quality.

I’m tiring of my own topic …. Meghan’s book was autobiographical, just like Hilton’s. She “is going” into fashion design (presumably someday), another Paris Hilton foray. She’s a trust fund baby ….

Look, I’m just sayin’ …….. wait until the election season runs its course and see how McCain uses his daughter.

Topic closed for me.

Meghan does a great job.

Spirit of 1776 on September 16, 2008 at 5:01 PM

Okay, well that is example #1 of making money off of her name. The book is about her and her dad.

Meghan McCain is a trust fund baby. She think Palin’s understanding pop culture is the important thing in this campaign. Her claim to fame is her parent’s name.

As I said, she is the Paris Hilton of the 2008 campaign. How long before we see her in a commercial?

BigD on September 16, 2008 at 4:31 PM

My parents are both deceased. They had very little to leave to my brothers and me, and they left me the least of all of us – but one thing they did leave me was the lesson that envying and hating people who are financially better off is wrong…so I don’t do it. Ever. My dad taught me to make my own way in life, and I’m happy with that.

Any other comparisons to Paris Hilton (sex, drugs) you want to make, or are you pretty much finished with the “trust fund baby” crap?

Whatever you do, ease up on the bold at least.

well of course it is you slimed one candidates child while totally forgetting about “Scranton’s” son….

I mean she could be of lobbying and helping banks go under but I guess that requires a (d) by your name.

I don’t need Metamucil, thanks, and I love Meghan McCain’s blog, actually.

That is separate from my original points.

BigD on September 16, 2008 at 5:03 PM

I do get very tired of politicians and their families claiming to represent “the people” when their adult children have never worked a day in their lives.

Here’s what McCain’s 6 adult children do, in order, from oldest to youngest:
airline pilot and former naval aviator
executive with Hensley & co.
music industry executive
campaign worker
midshipman at Naval Academy
Marine
