Meghan McCain on Palin: “She’s really chill”

Meghan can do (almost) no wrong, a fact acknowledged even by a magazine as reliably lefty as Slate. Even so, Breitbart’s clearly mocking the goofiness of her response, which makes me wonder if we haven’t reached saturation point now with tales of the ‘Cuda’s extraordinary ordinariness. Hockey mom, five kids, hunts, good with pop culture — fantastic. It’s high time to transition to phase two: Operation Gravitas. Which I guess is what this little stop on the trail next week is all about. Click the image to watch.

We need you over on the Fiorina thread to deal with a troll posting random Huff Po links.
Or you can send your golden to chew on his leg.

Let’s hear it for Strong Women !!!

I do get very tired of politicians and their families claiming to represent “the people” when their adult children have never worked a day in their lives.

Here’s what McCain’s 6 adult children do, in order, from oldest to youngest:
airline pilot and former naval aviator
executive with Hensley & co.
music industry executive
campaign worker
midshipman at Naval Academy
Marine

juliesa on September 16, 2008 at 5:03 PM

Thanks for posting that. And the McCain’s 7th child, Bridget, is not yet an adult. I find the story of her adoption very inspiring and quite revealing of the character of the McCain family.

Loxodonta on September 16, 2008 at 5:14 PM

We should all “chill” out and let Meghan do what she does best–try to win young people’s votes for her father and the “chill” Governor of the Chilly State of Alaska.

Obama ran an ad about McCain entering Congress in 1982 and being too old and “out of touch” to use the Internet. News flash to O’Cool(Aid): old Senators can have young daughters that CAN use the Internet to get in touch with young voters–and Meghan wasn’t even born yet in 1982. Such a shame that Obama’s daughters are too young to use the Internet. Boo-hoo.

Oh, yeah, yeah.

I’ll be in my bunk.

Politicians kids really need to STFU and let their parents do the campaigning, on all sides.

can we at least introduce mentors into the campaign?

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/obamas_foul_weather_friends.html

As a gesture of solidarity, the Vietnamese who Dohrn met in Budapest presented her with a ring made from an American aircraft shot down over North Vietnam. Bill Ayers would receive a similar ring while meeting with Vietnamese communists in Toronto. He later recalled being so moved by the gesture that he “left the room to cry.” He said, “I realized…America was an evil… and that I was… living inside the belly of the beast….”

In January 1969, at the request of the Cubans and the Vietnamese, Dohrn assembled another SDS delegation to travel to Havana to plan what the Chicago Sun-Times called an “antiwar campaign during an eight-day seminar with representatives of Hanoi and the Viet Cong.”

Bambi’s got neat friends….

“what can I say?”

I read that too. It really gave me the creeps that Ayres & Dohrn could have Vietnamese Communist rings made from part of McCain’s aircraft. I shivered at that. What did Obama call them? “Respectable?”

if the radical left thinks they are the only ones who will play hardball in the event of a loss….I won’t riot but I will make it my 4 year mission to destroy his administration if he wins.

If Meghan McCain is addressing the “pop culture” youth, as some have claimed here in this thread, Why is she doing it on Larry King?

I must be really REALLY out of touch with pop-culture if I am unaware that the yutes are watching Larry King.

SilverStar830 on September 16, 2008 at 6:07 PM

I’m not sure you understand. We old folks refer to the Larry King Show as “grandpop culture.” Jiminy Cricket! Larry is the Cat’s Meow!

Loxodonta on September 16, 2008 at 6:16 PM

Meghan McCain for President in 2024!

Hottest. President. Ever.

Are all of you guys that terrified of women?

reaganaut on September 16, 2008 at 4:31 PM

Afraid? Not at all. In fact, I love the Palin women: they’re easy AND they have money so they don’t run to welfare to support the little bastards babies!

DanKenton on September 16, 2008 at 7:18 PM

I will watch Meghan McCain anytime, anywhere. Even Larry King.

JollyRoger on September 16, 2008 at 8:14 PM

Anyone biatching about Meghan needs to confront reality.

Chelsea Clinton works at a hedge fund (ironic) that has contributed very substantial amounts to her parent’s various cause. She was also able to travel to many campaign events and eve did her own tours, meeting with Super Delegates, etc. Most 28 year olds in finance are lucky if they get to take half days off on Sunday and leave the office before midnight any day of the week.

2 of John Kerry’s step-sons (Chris and Andre) took time off from their jobs to campaign for him full time, at the ages of 31 and 35. John’s daughters Vanessa and Alexandra (ages 28 and 31 at the time) also campaigned full time for him. Vanessa took a leave from med school to do campaign work.

Mitt’s sons did their own roadshow and had a blog about it as well.

Meghan is doing serious campaign work and is involved at a much higher level than most 23 year olds in politics. She’s been on the campaign full time for over a year, quite like many kids just out of college. I’m really shocked at the ignorance about the mechanics of campaigns and the idea that it’s not a real job.

This is her first job out of college and it’s one hell of a doozy. Traveling nearly every day is really hard, and she does lots of high risk interviews. But because she’s female, people are deriding her contribution. That’s utter crap, and those who diminish her contributions should consider exactly who owns this site and who one of the favorite columnists of this site is. But yeah women in the media and in politics have it sooo easy.

So does this guy. Right after he tears up his voter registration card.
And for the record, Sarah Palin ‘being up’ on pop culture should cost her credibility, not give it to her.

austinnelly on September 17, 2008 at 1:22 AM

If Meghan wasn’t doing anything, all the libtard blogs would be saying she doesn’t support her dad, like Giuliani’s kids supporting Obama.

Sarah Palin has money? Funny how that’s not common knowledge.

And “easy”? Now they’re sluts? You really need some better material. Isn’t there some place on DK or DU that has some more intelligent talking points?

austinnelly on September 17, 2008 at 1:22 AM

Why wouldn’t she be “up” on pop culture. She’s got a couple of teenagers at home.

MarkTheGreat on September 17, 2008 at 8:35 AM

Same reason Snoop Dogg does, I guess. For whatever reason, King has cachet.
