I have previously discussed at length the extent to which the public mood has focused on the issue of integrity in this presidential election. If anything, the recent credit crisis has heightened that concern - frankly, the public doesn't understand.....

Did Palin look for the most qualified candidates or just her friends?

It depends on how you view "qualified." If you're coming in to clean house and shake up government those with the best credentials but ties to the establishment may not be those the most qualified to to what you, the governor, want.

My father was an extraordinarily successful executive with a major retailer, and whenever he was tasked with a new venture, he always brought his own team with him and summarily fired the members of the management he replaced. Dad knew his people were not only loyal but also knew they understood and could quickly implement his management practices/style;they could quickly enhance his overall ability to succeed. Why would he keep the old staff and start from square one with unknowns whose loyalty and whose qualifications were unquantifiable? That's just plain stupid.

It's all about executive skills...not about pleasing the old order. Dad knew how to make crucial managerial decisions. Bush, however, made the mistake, because he wanted to placate the Dems, of keeping them on in positions of prominence..."a uniter, not a divider"...which proved to be a huge management error that eventually bit him bigtime in the backside. (When Bush finally fired all those attorneys that he should have fired immediately, he endured an avalanche of feigned fury.)

Palin made the right executive dicision. She needs credit, not criticism.

It would be interesting to know to what extent Obama's dispatched team of lawyers and investigators have been feeding the press.

Dollars to donoughts there is a more intersting/disturbing story that will never make print about the cozy relationship between reporters and the Obama team working toward a shared goal.

Ugh this makes me so mad...I've never seen journalists looking into former classmates and things before...trying to make connections like this. This has to be the most biased coverage to date that the media has employed ina pres election.

Jazz Shaw intelligently asks the following question:

"Here’s a thought for you. I “live in a community” of aerospace engineers, only ten miles from one of the larger plants run by the nation’s premiere defense contractor in that field. Can I pilot the next shuttle, please?"

Verrry good, "Jazz" - but, of COURSE - the answer is NO!

Here's why:

While Sarah's appointees are bright, articulate and intelligent,

You - are an IDIOT.

This is incontrovertibly verified by your own admission that you have a degree in journalism, which ensures that you should not be allowed to "pilot" a commode during a defecation session without designating three people to hold on to you and keep you from falling off.

Hey - I didn't get a "harrumpf" outta you, buddy!

I'm not sure that it matters. The media has been so bad the past 3 weeks, they have lost all credibility with the general public. Anything said from now on will be looked at skeptically, if at all.

The left fears her because she looks like she just might be a Republican that can shrink government. Without a lot of wasteful government programs, the Dems don't have votes to buy with tax money. This fine lady looks like she is scaring the left to death......McCain/Palin '08!!!!!!!!

Compared to the Clinton White House, Sarah's appointments seem like a dream come true for conservatives who want crooks, extortionists and black mailers out of any level of gov't.
At least Sarah's staff will be able to pass the FBI clearance.

Does anyone EVER entertain the question of how O’Bama will be “welcomed” in old power Washington?

I'll bet the Troopergate issue got scant mention because it is what the Dems are hoping to use for their October surprise. The MSM doesn't want to provoke any substantive reaction by the McCain camp because the situation appears to have a pretty straight-forward resolution, with even the main subject of the investigation on record denying that anyone pressured him to do anything. The Dems don't need actual proof of a scandal; they just need to tag her with the appearance of scandal right before the election. Why else would the Obamabots who are involved demand an October 31st "report"? I'm really hoping that Palin gets out in front of this and doesn't fall back on the "truth will out" strategy that Bush used in the face of the "Bush lied, people died!" meme. That didn't work out especially well.

Old power structures don’t give up easily. She won’t be welcomed with open arms in D.C. by either party, although the pubbies will give her obligatory lip service.

I recall a Democrat attack points document that was developed as Palin was moving up in Alaska politics. It was somewhere online, are any of these things just a rehash of that?
