I agree with several posters above that the GOP should hammer on "what has Obama done"...with one modification: emphasize results!!

Examples: Sarah Palin took on corruption in Alaska - result: several people indicted and forced from office.
Obama worked as a community organizer to help with job loss - result: his community still lost more jobs.
Sarah Palin worked with Canada on a long-stalled gas pipeline to bring energy to America - result: a Canadian firm is going to spend 40 billion to build the pipeline.
Obama took a trip to Europe to meet with European leaders - result: nothing.

Similar contrasts could be run with academic achievements, earmarks, corruption, campaigns (Palin & McCain beat real opponents in an election: Obama used the Chicago machine to get his opponents disqualified so he never actually had to run against anyone), Leadership in legislature, Bipartisan leadership, problem solving, executive experience, ability to handle military affairs. As long as the Dems continue to shoot themselves in the foot by inviting Obama comparisons to Palin, use such comparisons. But at least a month before the election, frequently contrast Obama to McCain regardless of what the Dems do.

For all those who were asking how to HELP McCAIN, I got this in an email from the campaign today:

Can you invest 10 days of your life to make history?

The John McCain 2008 Presidential Campaign is looking for volunteers who are willing to spend the final ten days of the campaign helping in a nearby state. Deployed volunteers will take an active role and participate in a number of Get-Out-The-Vote activities. These activities will include making phone calls, going door to door, recruiting volunteers, and assisting with additional campaign activities and operations.

These ten days will be unpaid and participants will be responsible for arranging their own transportation and housing. The campaign is unable to reimburse any expenses.

Please consider this opportunity to adhere to John McCain's call to serve a cause greater than self! On the evening of November 4th you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you did everything possible to secure the future of our nation.

Let us know that you are ready and able to serve from October 25th through November 4th by replying to this email with your resume and cover letter. Please send both to Volunteer5@JohnMcCain.com.

Thank you!

Kameron Wilson, Deputy Director of Volunteers

Politician Obama rose through a Chicago machine that is notoriously the most corrupt in the country.

...Just like Jesus and Ghandi.

Did anybody see McCain last night praising Obama's "accomplisments" as a political organizer (thereby becoming the thousandth person in a row to do so without actually listing even one of them.)

And in the process, he basically condemned Governor Palin's acceptance speech. Sometimes I feel as interested in those actuarial tables as the liberals are.

BHO is a flawed man seeking to find himself through the approval of others.

He should be looking to find himself through the mercy of and sacrifices made by The (real) One, since he professes to be a Christian. I think Obama is still driving THAT bus. As they say at my church - "IF GOD IS YOUR CO-PILOT, SWITCH SEATS!"

And this is exactly why the repubs need to stay away from whining ads like you describe below. Attack Barack on his record, invite the comparisons, and let him and his disciples sputter into the gutter; don’t follow them.

Mr. Bingley on September 12, 2008 at 8:13 AM

Agreed. The debates are coming up and the public needs to hear what the 2 candidates stand for or against. Then they can hear the debates for themselves. I've heard "issues, issues, issues" from regular people around me who haven't made up their mind yet.

I listened to that National Service forum last night and McCain is impressive. Obama still rambles trying to answer the question without actually saying anything. McCain can do this stuff in his sleep (wink). I have issues with him but having listened to him for the past 6 weeks, I am def impressed.

Even my conservative husband (but registered Demo!) likes Sarah. He says he feels more hope than he ever has during an election year, because of her.
If there's conservative values behind it, it's Change we can believe in because The People will make it happen.

Actually, Obama has done something other than run for office -- he has been an academic -- a Constitutional scholar -- and a member of the Illinois bar (although he is not authorized to practice law).

Now, he's not licensed to practice Constitutional law before the Supreme Court either but -- what the hay -- those who cannot do, teach, or at least try to.

Nice point. I think McCain has to do more to stress Obama's lack of experience in reform. Obama does not have experience as a reformer. McCain does, as in McCain-Feingold, attacking pork barrel spending, etc..

Two pseudo-autobiography books and 'Two Mules for Sister Sara', obviously it's a different Sarah. Obama is wilting in the desert -- due to running out of hope, and Telepromters.

BTW, it was a funny movie, crummy Marxists books.

Speechmaker Obama has built his campaign on the promise of reform, the need to change the culture of American political life, to take on the special interests that undermine government’s effectiveness and erode trust in the system itself,
Politician Obama rose through a Chicago machine that is notoriously the most corrupt in the country. Live in NC on about 100 acres close to a small town 5 mi away yet close enough (25mi-35mi drive) to three major cities in NC. thus I got it pretty good each way. nightlife if I want it but peace and quit and of course freedom when I don’t.

100 acres!! Wow. Would I love to see something like that. I keep telling my wife that we ought to visit western N. Carolina to find our new home–Carl Sandberg style. My very best to you.

Don't overlook the Eastern part of the state. I moved to NC about 4 years ago from Calif. This state is awesome. What is fascinating is the acceptance of so many lifestyles in NC. I would have thought it was a "southern" state with narrow views, but not so.
Don't have 100 acres, but 3/4 on a lake with large mouth is all I needed.

they aren't they are trying to move on. Heard alot in the media today about Palin is a fun story but this is about MCain and Obama can we please talk about that. Look for the reps to continue to have Palin right next MCain so that the media is required to cover her.

They actually think they are going to take down Palin, it is too late, she is a beloved institution.
Even when they say, "I have a lot of respect for her and what she has done" it comes off as condescending.
My wife, the one person who could care less about politics, could care less about elections, could care less about "sides of the aisles", looks at Palin and says, she is a model of woman hood. She has demanded I go down and get her a McCain/Palin bumper sticker, not ask, demand!!
She is pissed off at every mention of Palin by the dems, because she knows they are brushing her off, thus brushing my wife off.
And no one is more middle American then my wife...you can't cut the heart out of the heartland.

I agree with folks here. The media is not doing it's job and Palin provides the perfect contrast to Obama.

They need to leverage from strength and use the opportunity contrast all the problems with Obama.

The victim stance is not a winning strategy but I would be less than honest if I didn't say that the inequality of media investigation is beyond annoying. I don't want the McCain campaign to address it because the press is a fact of life. To me this is where 527's should be used.

To think I had you pegged as a Wall Street banker or tax preparation specialist; as they say, “never think inside the box” or is it, “always think outside the box”…?

Someone once told me, either of those options was ridiculous…!
