No bad weather here. At least not yet. However, there is a 19 year old man missing after being swept off by a wave.

terryannonline on September 12, 2008 at 11:53 PM

This might be a little off topic, but that fool Geraldo is still standing on the beach trying to peck a fight with IKE. He says he is waiting for eye of the storm to come. He must be trying for another youtube.

Guy from my office here in Austin headed to his place in Palacios this morning. We called him at noon, he wouldn’t head back. My understanding is his place is on the water. Not the brightest bulb in the box.

Stop picking on Pink. What she said isn’t a valued political commentary. It’s little more than a verbal fart that sounds like a vague memory she has from a leftist talking point. Celebrities have nothing of value to say.

stonemeister on September 12, 2008 at 11:57 PM

Heres the scenario that scares the hell out of the
left!!!

I was a lucky kid,it was the summer of 67′,we moved
up to Ignace,Ontario.

That summer I was going on daily Cessna and Otter
rides to various hunting and fly-in camps delivering
supplies,I’ll never forget that summer!

Now what PINK doesn’t get, Sarah Palin grew up 24/7
in that environment, but Alaska is a tad further than
Ignace!

Sarah,is a product of can do,improvise what ya got,
and make the best of what ya got!

Pink on the otherhand is packaged, and yet Sarah Palin
is the real McKoy,forget American,or Canadian Idol,
Sarah grew up in the hardships of the real true “Great
White North”!

Sarah is a real AMERICAN WOMEN,and Pink won’t even get it!

Any women,that can pick dew worms,go fishing,hunting,
and be a crack shot, carry her own weight,is an asset
in Alaska!

Governor Sarah Palin is a product of what she has endured,
been put through, and learned in Alaska, real life as an
American Women.

PINK,is the product of packaging!!

I can tell you this,if stuck in the bush,PINK will
survive in grand style with SarahCuda!!!!

If PINK is stranded in the bush with Nancy Pelosi
or Hillary,I would say the odds were stacked against
Pinks survival!!!

I’ll bet my life, for survival on a women who knows how
to get it done,in the “Great White North”,and that is
SarahCuda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

No Katrina of course, but your local gov’t is a lot better than Nawlins.

New Orleans is probably the most sensitive place in the U.S. for a hurricane to hit because it’s like a bowl. I would say perhaps the second place is Galveston so that is why every is so worried. So many people live in the Houston/Galveston area.

I don’t think so… They say that the size of this storm, Cat II or III, makes the storm surge the equivalent of a Cat 5.6 and the possibility of 27 ft in the Houston area.

Not good at all. In south Louisiana we’re getting a substantial amount of surge.

john1schn on September 13, 2008 at 12:15 AM

They got the leadership they voted for. It sucks that they paid the price they did for it.

One might make the case that NO was a microcosm of what may happen if the voters elect Obama and the whole country takes its eye off the ball.

There is an analogy to be made of the levee failures to the security failure that an Obama presidency would make of the War on Islamofascism.

There’s hysteria about Palin’s position on Roe v Wade.

Charlie Gibson: John McCain would allow abortion in cases of rape and incest. Do you believe in it only in the case where the life of the mother is in danger?…Would you change and accept it in rape and incest?

Ponder the framing of this question for a moment. If you repeal Roe v Wade, then individual states would make the decision. Should a woman in New York City have a say about the policy of, say the state of Utah in abortion law? Why don’t they let Utah do as they’d like? Instead he asks Palin to change her PERSONAL view of when abortion is appropriate. What an oddly framed question. As if her personal view has anything to do with what the voters and/or legislature of a state would decide. He wants to make it sound like she personally, herself, would prevent victim of rape or incest from getting an abortion. When all she said about Roe v Wade was she’d like it repealed so the issue would be sent back to the states.

Paul-Cincy on September 13, 2008 at 12:32 AM

It should have been left to the states.

Damn thing won’t sit still!

Bush/Chaney/Rove plot to fool FEMA?

What would be the point?

Exactly!

That’s the brilliance of it.

Don’t you see?

Makes sense to Pink.

Whether fast or slow, this storm seems like it is going to be a disaster for a lot of people. Each state seems to handle evacuation orders differently, with local, county and state government. Unless all are well coordinated & planned, it can be chaotic. I think I read an AP report, sort of wistfully stating that Cuba handled their evacuations very “efficiently.”

You don’t mean to say those fools are hoping for a mega disaster do you?

TheCulturalist on September 13, 2008 at 1:22 AM

The local authorities offering to kill you at once if you don’t move helps “efficiency”.

Starting to get power bumps here guys. Signing off. Will check back in when things normalize a bit.

Later

sven10077, have you ever been in a major hurricane? I was in one once, when very young, and it looked not too much different than being inside the tornado in the Wizard of Oz, with pieces of houses and all sorts of objects flying all over the place. The place I was staying (near shore) was flooded but not destroyed. Not more than a thousand feet away, there was total devastation of hundreds of homes.

Hurricanes are proof “there is a God”….I guess Rove is his “profit”?

They think a spike in gas costs endures Barry wins….I suspect Hurricane Sarah will shield the GOP by pointing out how Donk policy and granola munching lawsuits leave us vulnerable to disruptions.

sven10077 on September 13, 2008 at 1:26 AM

I have faith that it will not be as bad as the KOSsacks hope, but will be bad enough that we all will need to try to help.

sven10077 on September 13, 2008 at 1:18 AM

No kidding! They’re hoping for a tragedy so they can try to blame it on the Iraq War. That’s just sick.

I guess if we brought them home and lined up the soldiers and the tanks at Galveston they could shoot at Ike with their AR’s to stop it.

Idiots, just like Pink.

BTW they have a livecam on Fox with some fire burning in Houston. You can see the blue flash of transformers dying left and right.

darclon on September 13, 2008 at 1:27 AM

Another memory: empty boats crashing into one another in flooded streets. It was very exciting!

Yes, Rush was talking about that the other day.

Cubans find it easier to evacuate because they have so few possessions to take with them. And, they know who has the guns so they tend to follow orders well. That works for the AP.

TheCulturalist on September 13, 2008 at 1:28 AM

Expect anything better from a website named Poopeater, Oh wait its Popeater? Well i think mine fits better.

I’ve been in 5 hurricanes, 2 tornadoes and a really bad dorm party. To be fair 2 of the hurricanes were far enough inland I was hardly nervous. I was about 1/4 mile from the bay I was hit in, 1 was at a condo 1/2 mile inland, and the other was on an army base 40 miles inland.

I am not in the habit of freaking out as regards “acts of God” if anything I welcome the reminder I am smaller than creation. Keeps me from the hubris of thinking my car is killing the Earth. Gore should try it.

sven10077 on September 13, 2008 at 1:26 AM

Oh, I see.

There are bigger forces at work in the commodity and financial markets right now than a hurricane. Any price blip will be minor and sort lived.

Sorry KosTrolls.

I thought Barry was the Messiah? Biden is making a move for the top of the ticket?

TheCulturalist on September 13, 2008 at 1:08 AM

Maybe, but he failed, so that spot is out. Had to make the rest of the audience “stand up for Chuck”.

As Rush says, Biden is the gift that keeps on giving.

AZfederalist on September 13, 2008 at 1:33 AM

Sven. I assure you that you are indeed smaller than creation. And therefore, you are also smaller than Gore’s and Obama’s ego’s.
