<blockquote>Open thread: Palin vs. Gibson, round three; Update: I think Obama regrets not picking Hillary, says Palin

If Palin remains as popular as she is now I think the October surprise will be Biden dropping out & Hillary coming in either at the top of the ticket or as number two.</blockquote>

CORRECTION: It's not erased. I was Google-ing to see if I could find a link and here it is:

I guess I wasn't searching for the correct keywords. My bad. Although when I'm wrong I admit it, them not so much.

D'OH!

Over at http://www.upi.com/ there was a story using Gibson's edited and out of context quotes from Palin's prayer for the troops titled <strong>"Palin Says Iraq Is God's War"</strong> or something like that.

I set up an account so I could comment and informed them that she'd <em>PRAYED</em> that is was part of God's plan, not <em>SAID</em> it was. Then I told them what I thought about the "100 Years Of Journalistic Excellence" line on their masthead.

I checked back today to see if they corrected it and it's gone. <strong>ERASED.</strong> What media bias?

The MSM/DNC Cabal is on a full court press to stop Palin in her tracks. Good luck with that fellas...

ABC was biased, but not so much to obscure the fact that Sarah Palin needs to spend a week going over McCain's briefing books. Also, she needs to stop rehearsing lines and start going off-the-cuff.

Whoever is telling Palin to rehearse lines and memorize instead of to talk normally is killing the McCain/Palin campaign and needs to be fired right the hell now. The poll numbers are slipping to fast to allow this to continue.

This is Newt's perspective on this subject:

Mr. Gingrich also said that Mr. Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, committed "the biggest political mistake of his career" by choosing not to pick Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as his running mate, and that Mrs. Palin's selection by Republican nominee Sen. John McCain had stolen the Democrat's thunder.

"Had he shown that he was strong enough to have both Bill [Clinton] and Hillary with him without being intimidated ... he would have had a ticket that would have been hard for us to beat. But he didn't. <strong>He flinched</strong>," Mr. Gingrich said.

I think the treatment that Palin is getting from the media and the Nutroots is absolutely wonderful. It does two great things for our side. First, it makes many Americans love her because of the unfair and despicable treatment she is receiving. Second, it highlights in neon yellow the kid glove treatment that Obama has received from the media.

And as an extra added and tasty bonus, the Marxist style feminism practiced by the likes of Gloria Steinem is being ripped to shreds.

I just registered my complaint to ABC, demanded the full interview be aires and asked about the extreme differences in the questions asked Obama.

I expect no response except a tiresome form letter, but if people keep pointing out the differences maybe somebody will ask Obama something substantive.

While the Palin interview was tough, in its unedited form it was the sort of questions candidates should answer as opposed to the vague pufferies masquerading as questions that were lobbed at Obama.

Kudos to Palin for answering the questions without trying to grab Gibson's knee the way Obama did with O'Reilly.

Is Obama hot for O'Reilly or was it just a "stop this, protect me" thing?

Kudos to Palin for answering the questions without trying to grab Gibson’s knee the way Obama did with O’Reilly.

Is Obama hot for O’Reilly or was it just a “stop this, protect me” thing?

*Goodling from Wikipedia:

<blockquote>According to David Ayres, senior chief of staff to Attorney General John Ashcroft, "She was the embodiment of a hardworking young conservative who believed strongly in the president and his mission".[5] But according to Bud Cummins, one of the fired prosecutors and an Arkansas Republican, “She was inexperienced, way too naïve and a little overzealous". Goodling stated that she "crossed the line" and broke civil service rules about hiring, and improperly weighed political factors in considering applicants for career positions at the Department of Justice.
</blockquote>

btw, what's the relation between Bill Ayers and David Ayers if any?

Headline: Will McCain ruin Palin?
Although I can appreciate the concern for Palin expressed by someone afraid that she might resemble Monica Goodling,* there are big differences contrasting Palin from Goodling. First of all, AGE and experience. Goodling's entire education was from ultra-religious institutions. Not so with Palin. Goodling's appointment occurred earlier in her career than Palin's nomination to the GOP POTUS/VP ticket. Finally, note well the concern over management contrasts the Chief Executive differentiation between GWBush and McCain.

Therein, note well, McCain IS NOT another GWB. McCain is so much more experienced and wise than GW was running for POTUS.

I don't see McCain foolishly entrusting anything to anyone beyond their proven ability. There is absolutely no comparison between McCain's expertise in himself studying a phenomena from all perspectives before acting upon a determination VETTING his entourage and GWBush's habit of giving his friends opportunities beyond their capacities (Harriet Meyers, Alberto Gonzales) as though to prove how stupid affirmative action is for the public record.

So beyond contrasting the person Palin from the person Goodling, the contextual setting contrasts McCain's militarily honed prowess over Bush's lame happy-go-lucky style of "try it out for size".

I think that what Palin has is the "right stuff" and with McCain, Palin is provided the vanguards of wisdom, as witnessed by those supporting her now; John Bolton, Fred Thompson, Rudy Guillianni, Newt Gingrich, etc.

Whereas, Monica with less "worldly" and executive experience, only had Gonzales' direction motivating her personal inclinations that were far less tolerant than Palin's.

No real comparison.

The double-standard Gibson applied to Palin, compared with the uncritical media platforms repeatedly offered to Obama, who has had zero executive experience running anything, was especially striking. ABC and Gibson focused on Palin as if she were running right now for the presidency rather than the vice presidency. He and other media pundits, by contrast, have never asked the Democratic vice presidential nominee, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, if he has ever had to make a decision on anything.

Gibson's aggressive approach appeared to take Palin by surprise: He was clearly attempting to put her on point by presenting her as having extreme religious views. This again, however, appears to be a double-standard, as Palin grew up in the Assemblies of God, one of the largest Christian denominations in America with 16 million members, and is now a member of the Wasilla Bible Church. Even now, Obama has yet to receive any comparable grilling on his 20-year attendance in the congregation of the notoriously racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

UPI gives a very pro Palin assessment. Read the whole thing.
