New McCain ad: No, it is I who will deliver the nightmarish amnesty America neither wants nor needs

posted at 1:15 pm on September 12, 2008 by Allahpundit

A de facto response to The One’s recent Hispandering, to borrow one of Kaus’s better coinages.

I like to imagine it was paid for with money donated by our very own readers.

ANNCR: Obama and his Congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?

The press reports that their efforts were ‘poison pills’ that made immigration reform fail.

The result:

No guest worker program.

No path to citizenship.

No secure borders.

No reform.

Is that being on our side?

Obama and his Congressional allies ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead.

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

Here’s the RNC donations page in case you suddenly feel the urge to help pay for an ad calling you a racist or something. Whoops: I mean another ad calling you a racist. Exit question: What did these illegal immigrants ever do to put so many people “on the side” of basic enforcement of longstanding American law?

Blowback

We could use cargo ships. The “Dole Chile” has a capacity of 1,000 40′ shipping containers. That’s 2,261,000 cubic feet per ship; allowing for 10 cubic feet per preson, means roughly 226,100 people could be moved south per shipload. It would take about fifty-four trips to deport 12 million people. Operating on 14 day round trips, it would take one ship a little over two years to deport this many invaders. Ten ships could do it in two-and-a-half months.

Why doesn’t anyone like math anymore? Stupid public schools…

What do you want? A lot of conservatives don’t like McCain. Do you want us to fake enthusiasm, and just go along to get along? I agree that voting against Obama is a powerful argument, and many conservatives are swayed by it, but I personally would like to see the day come when I could vote for a conservative, instead of against a socialist.

1. Last time I checked, Palin was a conservative. And, as the libs love to remind us, she’s only one heart beat away.

2. Face it. While campaigning, McCain is not budging on amnesty. Fighting him right now just brings down the base entusiasm (read: shrinks voting). Fight and complaign once he’s elected.

3. Don’t be a Single-Issue Eagle.

Hey, lets up the ante a bit. Using your plan above, we could also furnish those 40′ containers as pre-fab condos. Offload the whole village, stack’em up anywhere you want, presto..instant community with free housing. Let the kids tag’em and you’ll have cultural expression built right in.

What’s the lifetime cost delta between a furnished 40′ box container + shipping and supporting that illegal alien family unit?

BobMbx on September 12, 2008 at 4:08 PM

Don’t get excited folks, he’ll correct it with a different spot that will be aired tomorrow.

Was it a senior moment again or actually a Freudian slip and the truth…?

Aw come on, Mc knows where Pooty Poot actually runs the show.

Senator McCain catches a break from CBS; can you believe it…?

Finally some talking heads feel ambivalent concerning the Saint’s penchant for senior moments…

No big deal…!

Well, if bureaucrats were shopping, the price would be astronomical. But aluminum containers go for about $1,000 wholesale, and I could furnish one nicely with RV-style digs for another thou.

So that’s $2,000 per family of four, or a one-time cost of 6 billion dollars to house 12 million illegal invaders. According to the Heritage Foundation, the invaders cost us $2.2 trillion in taxes.

Even with labor, it seems far cheaper to me.

I have no problem with legal immigration, and I don’t believe most Americans do…

Now as far as illegals go; they should be shipped out whenever they’re found.

The only “immigration reform” I really wanna consider now is:
1) Seal the Borders
2) Establish strict new, LOW levels for a few years ’til the population level stablilizes-and no exceptions for relatives, no exceptions…perios!
3) Overhaul the guest worker program, at both the high and low end, to make sure that no Americans are unemployed while were importing folks from India or Asia to do high-tech jobs…
4) Did I mention seal the borders?

Mav better be careful, no ‘Cuda good will can get him past this issue…

Let’s hope enough people see your point, which was well made. McCain never was Reagan and never will be, but the difference between him and B. Hussein Obama is gigantic on some issues and considerabe on most.

How many times do you and I–and many others–need to repeat this? Meanwhile, ignore the trolls ( especially the fake ‘Republic of Vietnam’ vets )

Illegal immigration is not a single issue. It over burdens our schools, hospitals, social services, and effects the economy. We can’t really understand where we are on many issues until illegal aliens are removed from the picture. When California isn’t spending millions giving multiple liver transplants to an illegal alien, then medical costs might drop for the rest of us.

DFCtomm on September 12, 2008 at 4:29 PM

Ignoring the fact that your idea is insane…why is a felony the cutoff point? Why not a misdemeanor? You do know that a lot of criminals (both citizens and illegal immigrants) get charged with felonies, but take plea deals to reduce them to misdemeanors?

truthmattersfa on September 12, 2008 at 1:59 PM

Insane why?

What cutoff point would you prefer? Traffic ticket and higher? Fine. I just don’t think even that’s doable.

No need to split the hair with me. Find a cutoff point that is acceptable and DO IT.

Unless you have a better idea. I’m all ears.

The cut-off point is Legal immigrant.

J_Gocht on September 12, 2008 at 4:44 PM

There is no such thing as an illegal alien that is law abiding. First; Cross the border, illegally. Second; Tax fraud. Third; If taxes are paid, identity theft, falsifying government documents, ect.. Possible welfare fraud. Just to name a few.

Johan Klaus on September 12, 2008 at 4:50 PM

Son of a …… !!!!!!!

First he praises Obama’s “service” and now this crap. I think I speak for all conservatives when I say I will be voting for Palin and will take what comes with it.

Why does he have to be such a freaking tool.

America1st on September 12, 2008 at 5:04 PM

Insane why?

Besides it would let illegal immigrants who committed misdemeanors (including those who with multiple misdemeanors)
be eligible for citizenship. Can you find any other country on earth that let people come into its country without permission, commit crimes on the citizens of that country AND then gave citizenship to those individuals????

What cutoff point would you prefer? Traffic ticket and higher? Fine. I just don’t think even that’s doable.

Any immigrant who has been convicted of any criminal offense (Felony or misdemeanor) should be deported.

truthmattersfa on September 12, 2008 at 5:05 PM

Eh. That McCain’s an amnesty pusher isn’t news to the conservative base. We still remember that it was us who torpedoed McCain-Kennedy. Even so, conservatives will still vote for him because (a) there are far more issues at stake as well, and (b) we remember that we torpedoed the McShamnesty bill.

However, conservatives need to keep this aspect of McCain in mind when it comes to down-ticket people. Congress is going to be the place where amnesty lives or dies. Elect solid conservatives (or at least people who care what their constituents think) to the Senate and the House, and this will be a non-issue.
