New McCain ad: No, it is I who will deliver the nightmarish amnesty America neither wants nor needs

posted at 1:15 pm on September 12, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

A de facto response to The One’s recent Hispandering, to borrow one of Kaus’s better coinages.

I like to imagine it was paid for with money donated by our very own readers.

ANNCR: Obama and his Congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?

The press reports that their efforts were ‘poison pills’ that made immigration reform fail.

The result:

No guest worker program.

No path to citizenship.

No secure borders.

No reform.

Is that being on our side?

Obama and his Congressional allies ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead.

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

Here’s the RNC donations page in case you suddenly feel the urge to help pay for an ad calling you a racist or something. Whoops: I mean another ad calling you a racist. Exit question: What did these illegal immigrants ever do to put so many people “on the side” of basic enforcement of longstanding American law?

Self deportaton. I read somewhere that they were doing it to the tune of 700 per day now. McCain vs. Obama = not much difference on this issue. I hate it too. I just keep holding my nose and repeating, Taxes, and Judges, and Iraq, oh, my.

mwdiver on September 12, 2008 at 1:42 PM

They are criminals by virtue of being here ILLEGALLY.

Elric66 on September 12, 2008 at 1:41 PM

Crimes beyond the violation of immigration laws. The worst criminals first, essentially.

amerpundit on September 12, 2008 at 1:43 PM

Did you read my post? Where was there any talk of shipping people anywhere? And then you talk about how ‘retarded’ something sounds that I didn’t say? ROFLMAO.

Yes, I did. You said we get to decide who we want living in our country (which I don’t disagree with), but your overall tone made it sound like since we get to decide who stays, we need to kick out all these illegals.

Just the way I took it.

nickj116 on September 12, 2008 at 1:43 PM

So how do you round them all up and kick them out?

nickj116 on September 12, 2008 at 1:35 PM

Easy enough. As an aide to the plan, just turn on any news channel that has IKE on. Pay particular attention to the number of people who are being evacuated. It’s around 1 million.

Now, with that piece of the pie in place, lets do some math:

2-3 days to evacuate 1 million people (fact)
12-20 million illegal aliens need to be “evacuated”
3 days multiplied be 20 million = 60 days.

60 days. Not bad. Hell, lets double the estimate to 120 days. 4 months. Tops.

Of course, the hard part is rounding them up. Not nearly as difficult as it seems. Put a law enforcement officer at every single cash register in stores that sell food. You wanna buy food, cough up some ID.

heheh

BobMbx on September 12, 2008 at 1:43 PM

McCain could stand to never air another “immigration” ad.

catmman on September 12, 2008 at 1:43 PM

The idea of sending back those who came here illegally sounds great in theory. Put into practice, it is impossible.

We don’t have to send all of them back….a lot start leaving on their own!!!

Example 1

Example 2

Example 3

truthmattersfa on September 12, 2008 at 1:44 PM

It’s a multi-step program. First of all, stop (or at least significantly reduce) the number of illegals coming into the country by securing the border

It seems like you could reduce some of these steps by raiding Yankee Daddy concerts. Go to concert in Spanish, and you’ll find the illegals.

I find it disgusting, yet predictable that McCain uses the carrot of amnesty to woo Latino voters to his side. The problem is that the Latino community traditionally doesn’t vote. Conservatives pounce on this red meat issue and won’t let go, even after McCain leaves the earthly plane.

We are slowly (finally 7 years too late) starting to do all three. Some of the fence has been built. The Border Patrol has been doubled in the last 7 years (I believe).

For point #2, we’re just starting to see cooperation between local cities/counties and the federal government. The problem is until the fed. govt. starts punishing sanctuary cities, we will never get 100% compliance and that will inhibit the ability to remove criminals.

For #3, again, the Bush administration FINALLY started to put some measures in place, but when they had a program to mail out letters to businesses with mis-matched SS #’s under E-verify, the ACLU (American Criminal Liars Union) sued, took it to court, and it got put on hold by an insane California District Judge). So we can’t start doing everything because knuckle heads on the far-left are trying to stop the process.

But disappointing some at the Latino civil rights gathering, he said he stuck to his position that he only would consider a path to citizenship for illegal residents after he can prove to Americans that the border is secure. Otherwise, he argued, reform measures will never be enacted. He cited fears of national security and that a porous border leads to drug smuggling and other crimes.

ctmom on September 12, 2008 at 1:52 PM

I find it disgusting, yet predictable that McCain uses the carrot of amnesty to woo Latino voters to his side. The problem is that the Latino community traditionally doesn’t vote.

The real problem is that they don’t vote on this issue. McWhore is taking this tack to please his paymasters in the agribusiness sector, not because he gives a rats ass about “Gods children” or the Hispanic vote. Hispanics vote Dem because they want more government services. Which should give even people like Nick some clue as to why a “path to citizenship” is a the end of conservatism and is really a “path to socialism”.

flenser on September 12, 2008 at 1:52 PM

Thanks for the links. That is impressive.
Perhaps that is the way to go.

It is. The problems are (1) it will take time. This isn’t going to be a 2-3 month problem. This is going to take years to undo the incompetence of the Bush/Clinton administrations and (2) this will not get rid of ALL illegals. It should however be able to greatly reduce the numbers. And a third major problem is that a lot of the self-deportation is due to local/state ordinances, not federal government. So when you have sanctuary cities/states then a lot of them are just going to shift from Arizona/Oklahoma/Prince George’s County to San Francisco/Baltimore, etc. where they will be able to live and work without any fear of being reported to ICE.

I can’t get everything I want with McCain. This is one of those issues. But Obama is the same, and probably worse, on illegal immigration. Obama also provides me with absolutely nothing for which to vote, and a host of reasons for which to vote against. To me, the illegal immigration issue is best fought today at the Congressional election level, then later with President McCain.

Loxodonta on September 12, 2008 at 1:55 PM

Don’t think you are one to be suggesting anyone is retarded.

I didn’t suggest anyone was retarded. I said the idea that shipping 12 million illegals back to their home countries is retarded.

And by the way, it’s not bad to ask for people’s opinions on how to effectively do something dumb@ss. I asked several different people that question, I didn’t just blindly throw it out there and ignore their answers.

*Correction: I said the idea that shipping 12 million illegals back to their home countries is feasible is retarded.

nickj116 on September 12, 2008 at 1:56 PM

We all knew this was coming because he hinted at it in his acceptance speech. We all knew this was coming because he has never indicated he has changed his mind on this.

However, none of this changes the fact that Obama is a MARXIST and cannot be allowed to receive 3 a.m. calls in the White House. We have to think about our military men and women that would suffer unmercifully under THE ONE MANCHILD COMMUNITY ORGANIZER. We will suffer unmercifully under THE MESSIAH MOST HIGH OBAMA, but with THE GOVERNOR and THE MAVERICK we might survive just like all those people governed by Pontius Pilate survived.

If McCain would just understand all he has to do is build the fence, and have the current laws executed then none of this would be a problem. Sanctuary cities must not receive federal funding and churches must disentangle themselves from this issue. Case after case of cities have executed the law and illegal left in droves. After that, then we can work on some type of guest worker program with no path to citizenship except by filling out the paperwork everyone else fills out, and getting in line with everybody else that is trying to get into this country.

The key is to elect Conservatives to Congress that will fight with us on this issue. 70% of ALL Americans opposed McCain-Kennedy and those running for Congress need to push this and drilling as being the top issues for why they should be elected. IF we have a stronger force in Congress, then we will have a stronger gavel to rap across the MAV’S knuckles.

Build the fence FIRST. Then deport anybody who has been convicted of a felony.

Ignoring the fact that your idea is insane…why is a felony the cutoff point? Why not a misdemeanor? You do know that a lot of criminals (both citizens and illegal immigrants) get charged with felonies, but take plea deals to reduce them to misdemeanors?

truthmattersfa on September 12, 2008 at 1:59 PM

Any illegal that takes advantage of that first baby step on the path to citizenship has to be identified, photographed, fingerprinted, and have a specific employer willing to vouch for them. Those are all good things to have on record, as long as they’re going to be in the country anyway. Better to know who’s here.

No one said they were for shipping 12 million illegals. We are saying make it undesirable to stay here illegally and they will go back on their own and save the tax payers the money to ship them back.

That’s right. They prefer their own country. If there are no perks/freebies they will not immigrate and those here will not stay. Unfortunately, state and local governments are passing policies encouraging illegal aliens to come here. These policies are bankrupting taxpayers. Worse, we have criminals and gangbangers that local government refuse to turn over to ICE to deport who go on to murder innocent people. Nothing like having your husband and sons murdered by a illegal salvadoria MS-13 gangbanger who has spent mucho time in local custody only to be released time and time again.

Blake on September 12, 2008 at 2:05 PM

Build the fence FIRST. Then deport anybody who has been convicted of a felony.

Then give the rest of them permanent alien status with no benefits

.

McCain has a better plan than most of those who just say kick out all illegal immigrants. In any advanced nation with low unemployment, low-skilled immigrants are necessary to fill all menial jobs and keep the economy moving forward.

People living here will always have benefits- access to public transportation and roads, education for their children, and emergency health services in the ER. The problem is that when the immigrants pay 0 taxes- no payroll tax, state, or federal taxes. The answer is a mix of amnesty and a guest worker program that collects taxes directly from employers for every hour that an immigrant works.

bayam on September 12, 2008 at 2:05 PM

He does not want to build a fence. He has never introduced a bill to that effect in all his decades in Congress.

He wants a guest-worker program, which is fine.

It is not fine. We do not need or want a “guest worker program”, aka open borders.

He wants a path to citizenship (which is where the big debate is) AFTER the borders are secure.

Yes another lie. McWhores idea of “secure” is that the Democratic governors of the border states will tell him “sure, the border is secure – go ahead and give us those twenty million new voters now”. At which point he’ll fall over his fool self in his eagerness to kiss up to Archer-Daniels-Midlands.

As long as he works with Conservatives

When has he ever worked with conservatives on anything? He hates conservatives as much as Obama does.

flenser on September 12, 2008 at 2:08 PM

Can you please cite one politician that has ever taken than position????

The answer is a mix of amnesty and a guest worker program that collects taxes directly from employers for every hour that an immigrant works.

Yes, what a wonderful idea. At the very least, with illegal immigrants we get cheaply produced goods (along with all the of the negative consequences). Now you want to make them all legal, which means that now instead of earning $3/hr they will get federal minimum wage protection and we’ll see our good prices go up. So we then have the worst of both worlds. Expensive goods. Fewer jobs for Americans.

nickj116 on September 12, 2008 at 2:00 PM

The problem is that his first priority has been the “path to citizenship” (better known as amnesty), with the fence serving only as a political means to the end of getting it passed.

Securing the border and enforcing immigration law should be the first priority, with other immigration reforms being a distant second. Unfortunately, McCain has it backwards and thus his promises to secure the border aren’t terribly convincing.

anyone catch Whoopi asking McCain if she has to worry about being a slave again??

Nope. You got that link somewhere?

McCain has a better plan than most of those who just say kick out all illegal immigrants. …

bayam on September 12, 2008 at 2:05 PM

Again the tired, old, false dichotomy of Bush, Graham, McCain, et al: “We can’t deport 12 30 million immigrants illegal aliens, THEREFORE we must make them citizens.”

Please pay attention, open your eyes and ears. Most American citizens and posters here want attrition through enforcement, not mass deportations. READ THE DAMN POLL.

Listen to the illegal alien himself.

And pay attention. Please.

Homework assignment: read McCain’s ‘better plan’ and explain why he changed the (defeated) 2006 version’s Z visa 90-day waiting period to a single business day in the (twice-defeated) 2007 bill.

fred5678 on September 12, 2008 at 2:17 PM

I don’t understand McWhores? Like what does the idea of promiscuous women have to do with his wrong policies??

His wrong polices are based on money.

What, you people think that he and the other GOP amnesty lovers are taking that position because they love “Gods children”? They do it because they are responding to their base. Their base is not conservatives, it’s Americas corporations.

No, missed that. Did he answer “yes, if Obama gets elected and we begin to succomb to Sharia Law as is happening in the UK”.

I still don’t understand the relevance of the “Whore” part.

You can’t even ask simple questions on this topic without getting murdered getting answered.

Fixed it for you.

he totally wilted, as usual. He just gave some lame response. “I totally understand where you’re coming from.”

Sounds like a child who just lost an argument with his mommy.

fred5678 on September 12, 2008 at 2:19 PM

…Of course, the hard part is rounding them up. Not nearly as difficult as it seems. Put a law enforcement officer at every single cash register in stores that sell food. You wanna buy food, cough up some ID.

heheh

BobMbx on September 12, 2008 at 1:43 PM

I and most Americans I know will not stand for an ID check at the grocery counter, but you choose to do that then you should at least ensure that the police uniforms are brown.

There is no need to round them up, since they will leave on their own if there are no jobs, and the rest can be rounded up during routine checks such as traffic stops. We don’t need to exert a lot of effort or spend a great deal to accomplish this. We simply need to enforce the laws currently on the books, and prosecute offenders who hire illegals. We also need to quit sending a double message to employers.

We cannot say don’t hire illegals, and then say but don’t try to hard to determine if they are illegal, because it violates their civil rights. It’s unfair to place people in that situation. We can clean this mess up, but the cleanup shouldn’t be an even bigger mess.

I would have asked her when was she a slave before.

Elric66 on September 12, 2008 at 2:21 PM

still don’t understand the relevance of the “Whore” part.

Perhaps because you are under the impression that “whore” equals “promiscuous women”. If you corrected that misunderstanding then I think that things would fall into place for you.

Hint – a whore is not a promiscuous woman. It’s not even neccessarly a woman, or a promiscuous person.

flenser on September 12, 2008 at 2:22 PM

Hint – a whore is not a promiscuous woman. It’s not even neccessarly a woman, or a promiscuous person.

1: a woman who engages in sexual acts for money : prostitute; also : a promiscuous or immoral woman
2: a male who engages in sexual acts for money
3: a venal or unscrupulous person

So you’re going with definition 3 (the same way Chevy Chase described Bush)? whatever.

truthmattersfa on September 12, 2008 at 2:25 PM

I’m using it in the sense of any person who sells their virtue for money, which is the basic meaning of the word.

If all promiscuous women are also whores, then there are vast numbers of whores in the world who are not normally described that way. Including a lot of women whom I (and perhaps you) have slept with.

Stop quoting me some nonsense you read online and engage your brain. Or “whatever”.

flenser on September 12, 2008 at 2:31 PM

No shit. Maybe the whores of the world should unite and the defintion of whore changed so that they won’t be offended. Or, they could sue Webster, et al, for libel.

If your behavior fits the defintion, and you dn’t like it, change your behavior.

BobMbx on September 12, 2008 at 2:35 PM

Yes, I did. You said we get to decide who we want living in our country (which I don’t disagree with), but your overall tone made it sound like since we get to decide who stays, we need to kick out all these illegals.

Just the way I took it.

nickj116 on September 12, 2008 at 1:43 PM

Plain english. Citizens and legal immigrants stay.

Johan Klaus on September 12, 2008 at 2:37 PM

I’m so confused. I agree with everyone about building a fence, but what is wrong with some sort of path to citizenship? What is wrong with a guest-worker program? What are you gonna do? Round up 12 million people and haul ‘em out?

Not gonna happen.

nickj116 on September 12, 2008 at 1:19 PM

A guest worker program already exists. It’s the H2A visa program, but farmers hate it. Here is a link to the requirements for that program. The fact that employers shun this visa is a good indication of what kind of labor they are seeking.

DFCtomm on September 12, 2008 at 2:38 PM

“Stop quoting me some nonsense you read online”

You mean stop quoting the definition of a word straight from the dictionary. Moron.

I’m using it in the sense of any person who sells their virtue for money, which is the basic meaning of the word.

ohhhh..ok. now I get it. A basic meaning of the word that you made up from somewhere. whatever.

truthmattersfa on September 12, 2008 at 2:43 PM

I think we reached consensus over on Michelle’s site that the 13th amendment abolishes slavery, and the 14th amemdment secures the citizenship rights of former slaves and their descendents. So it is the constitution itself that guarantees Whoopi’s freedom and citizenship.

My collie says:

The question Whoopi leveled at McCain was a non-sequitur. It’s a glaring example of the woman’s ignorance.

CyberCipher on September 12, 2008 at 3:00 PM

We vote for McCain in Nov only to try to impeach him in Feb.

moughon on September 12, 2008 at 3:00 PM

I like to imagine it was paid for with money donated by our very own readers.

AP, no offense but with remarks like that it’s like you want us to stop denoting/voting so that Obama will win.

DethMetalCookieMonst on September 12, 2008 at 3:02 PM

What do you want? A lot of conservatives don’t like McCain. Do you want us to fake enthusiasm, and just go along to get along? I agree that voting against Obama is a powerful argument, and many conservatives are swayed by it, but I personally would like to see the day come when I could vote for a conservative, instead of against a socialist.

DFCtomm on September 12, 2008 at 3:10 PM

69% Now Say Controlling the Border More Important than Legalizing Aliens

One of the problems with being a Maverick is that you have a tendency to say “F*ck what 70% of Americans want“.

As far as caring what foreign nationals want, how is McCain any different than, say, Obama wanting to do something against the will of the American people because the French want it?

jaime on September 12, 2008 at 3:36 PM

You mean stop quoting the definition of a word straight from the dictionary. Moron.

It’s not the meaning of the word in the dictionary, moron.

But if you want to call women who sleep around “whores”, knock yourself out.

Just don’t try to tell me that McWhore is not one.

flenser on September 12, 2008 at 3:42 PM

Secure the border and enforce immigration law, then and only then should other immigration reforms be considered. Otherwise we’ll be having this same debate in another 20 years in Spanish.

Fixed it for ya.
