Video: The sadly obligatory “Gina Gershon as Sarah Palin” parody clip

Hey, remember when Gershon could act? (Me neither.) Simply awful, but I offer it to you anyway for two reasons. One: It comes from Will Ferrell’s outfit, Funny or Die, and as such stands as a shining example of how narrow the gap is these days between the pros and the better YouTube amateurs. Two: I’m going stir crazy waiting for the Charlie Gibson interview and need to get my Palin fix any way I can. If there’s a gaffe, on which subject is it most likely to come? I’ve got bad, bad vibes about Gibby tossing her a curveball on power vacuums in North Korea if Kim keels over. Take China for a thousand, Sarah!

Anyone have any Vicodin?

I wonder which hot actress they will get to play Barry in the next sendup, “You can’t go reinventing yourself!”

trailboss on September 11, 2008 at 4:34 PM

Utterly unfunny, except for the tag line…

“Sarah Palin… If she shoots you in the face, it’s because she was aiming for it.”

Now that’s funny!

gridlock2 on September 11, 2008 at 4:35 PM

Lame, Lame and Lame.

This woman would not even be noticed if she was in the same room with Sarah Palin (except that she does look simular).

No charism, personality, energy or beauty.

Proof that beauty is more than skin deep.

The Rock on September 11, 2008 at 4:37 PM

Ted Nugent should make a big scene, ala Heart, and demand they stop using Cat Scratch Fever.

carbon_footprint on September 11, 2008 at 4:38 PM

Funny or die?

Well, it ain’t funny.

drunkenmaster on September 11, 2008 at 4:39 PM

Pointless.

pugwriter on September 11, 2008 at 4:39 PM

Gershon was a lot funnier back when she was playing with Clintoon’s “gun” and trying to deny it. That’s the difference between staged humor and unintentional humor.

miles on September 11, 2008 at 4:40 PM

“Sarah Palin… If she shoots you in the face, it’s because she was aiming for it.”

I think we have a new campaign slogan.

Ars Moriendi on September 11, 2008 at 4:40 PM

zzzzzzzzzz

flyoverland on September 11, 2008 at 4:41 PM

Hmmm Gina’s kinda hot for someone her age.

But seriously…

Give any anti-Palin female out there the chance to trade places with Sarah Palin and 99% would jump at the chance.

Lawrence on September 11, 2008 at 4:41 PM

Oh yes, Bubba, sticking his cigars where they did not belong while terrorists were plotting against us.

carbon_footprint on September 11, 2008 at 4:41 PM

Your Palin fix? AP you’ve become a junkie. That pessimism may give you a momentary rush, but hear me, it’s gonna kill you, man.

Dude, I love you. I won’t let this happen.

Cicero43 on September 11, 2008 at 4:42 PM

Me too. But I think Charlie’s zinger will be a legitimate question, rather than a pop quiz, along the lines you suggest. Our best hope is that her tutors have anticipated all the legit questions, and that she’ll be ready for them.

petefrt on September 11, 2008 at 4:49 PM

Look for MUCH more of Hollywood’s creativity, now that film studios are shut down with threat of SAG strike (idle hands in the Devil’s workshop or something like that …)

From LACasting:

Project Name: Rush Limbaugh Does Ann Coulter
Project Type: Internet
Rate/Compensation: Credits and Meal

Parody of Rush Limbaugh getting intimate with Ann Coulter. Partial nudity out of frame only. For internet and will be decent.

Whoopie Goldberg oh wait you said hot actress …. never mind

So what if it sucked? ALL OF YOU WOULD HIT THAT AND YOU KNOW IT!

fossten on September 11, 2008 at 4:59 PM

Very lame indeed. The only good line in that was “if she shoots you in the face, it’s because she was aiming for you.” And that, frankly, is just another reason to vote for her.

morganfrost on September 11, 2008 at 5:00 PM

“Funny or Die???”
Not funny.

tgillian on September 11, 2008 at 5:00 PM

Isn’t it reasonable that we should expect that any question, “gotcha” or not, that is relevant enough to be directed at a VP candidate should previously have been asked of the Presidential candidates?

Perhaps we should ascertain if Obama knows who the Associate Deputy Minister for Fisheries of Lithuania is, before we worry about whether Sarah knows! Fair?

drunyan8315 on September 11, 2008 at 5:02 PM

They’re not very good at this are they?

Mr_Magoo on September 11, 2008 at 5:05 PM

Hey, remember when Gershon could act? (Me neither.)

You know I can tolerate the unrelenting pessimism and tediously insightful political commentary AP, but I will not tolerate anyone who belittles Gina Gershon’s acting abilities. Particularly after her tour de force performance in Showgirls.

It made me laugh. It made me cry. It made me demand a refund.

Mike Honcho on September 11, 2008 at 5:06 PM

Funny!? Not!
Gag me with a spoon.

aLoha Tim on September 11, 2008 at 5:07 PM

When will the Charlie Gibson interview air?

flyfisher on September 11, 2008 at 5:08 PM

I don’t expect objectivity from Hollywood. They’re all brainwashed bubbleheads living in a fishbowl.

I don’t expect intelligence. They make a living playing make believe, like you did when you were six. And they’re surrounded by people who do the same thing. Let’s face it: if anybody wanted to burn some books, you wouldn’t really need to stop by the average actresses house, now would you?

I expect just one thing: for professional actors to be, well, professional. As in, good. To have a little talent. Make me laugh. Something.

This was epic fail. How stupid. It is an insult to average joe You-Tubers to compare this crap to what they do. Give me a wig, some boobs, and a camera, and I could do a way funnier Palin impression. You’d laugh, too.

This just sucks.

It sucks like ALL things suck from Hollywood when they let their political punch-guzzling trump their (ahem) “creativity.”

The only funny bit was the narrator’s line: if she shoots you in the face, she was aiming for you.

Now that’s good. It’s funny … cuz it’s true.

Professor Blather on September 11, 2008 at 5:13 PM

The “better” link was crude but funny. They think they are mocking us but those are the personalities we like! We’re actually not afraid to laugh at ourselves or our candidates!

Mr_Magoo on September 11, 2008 at 5:14 PM

Stupid.

Very much so. I love parody. But that ain’t parody.

Hog Wild on September 11, 2008 at 5:17 PM

She’s now off my I’d hit that list.

MirCat on September 11, 2008 at 5:18 PM

Hey, remember when Gershon could act? (Me neither.)

I never considered her as an actress – just a very hot babe.

What?? What did I say wrong??

Her next movie – playing a madam or prostitute, with Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci.

fred5678 on September 11, 2008 at 5:19 PM

For a 50-year old woman, Gershon still looks good in a bikini. I’d hit it.

Travis Bickle on September 11, 2008 at 5:23 PM

Not funny, except that line “if she shoots you in the face, it’s because she was aiming for it.”

Micheal on September 11, 2008 at 5:24 PM

Was the clip supposed to be funny? Really? I guess I just didn’t get it.

conservativegrandma on September 11, 2008 at 5:30 PM

I’m new here — I have to say here, that you, Allahpundit, are SO funny! I haven’t even looked at the clip yet, but you’ve made me even more nervous than I was already about the interview. I feel, in my gut, that she’s going to be better than she needs to be, but you NEVER know. At least that seems to be the least painful way to proceed right now. I have a feeling that her power lies so deeply in her authentic self that she’ll be able to negotiate any question from any interviewer, certainly Gibson.

Moxie on September 11, 2008 at 5:42 PM

If it wasn’t for her looks she’d be pushing a elotes cart at North ave and Kimball.

LtE126 on September 11, 2008 at 6:04 PM

I used to like Will Farrel, but this is just another in a long line of unfunny. Comedians should be like lawyers in that they should be able to take either side and lampoon it well. So sad that they can’t even make their side funny anymore.

gridlock2 on September 11, 2008 at 4:35 PM

Agreed. It’s not that it toed the lefty line on Sarah`Cuda either. I’ll laugh at well done humor (and yes, sometimes Al Franken is funny). But this sucked.

darkpixel on September 11, 2008 at 6:14 PM

Unacceptable!

carbon_footprint on September 11, 2008 at 4:38 PM

lol Indeed. Nugent would do it too if it occurred to him. Heart just complained about Barracuda, and remember when Chrissie Hynde’s “people” were upset at Rush for using her song? Rush called that bluff and Hynde’s herself said Rush could use the song because her folks love him and it would get her in trouble with them lol.

Ozprey on September 11, 2008 at 6:32 PM

Does this mean that the Big ears, Uh, Uh, Uh,
bomb throwing with Bill Ayres clips are game.

And his sing along with the Rev Wright and that other nitwit fletcher or something is on. The more they
throw the easier the targets they become. Gawd they’re
Stoooooopid.

Texyank on September 11, 2008 at 6:35 PM

Eh, I ff’d right to the bikini part.

Now, I feel a profound sense of fatigue… and a feeling of emptiness followed. Luckily I… I was able to interpret these feelings correctly. Loss of essence.

aquaviva on September 11, 2008 at 6:52 PM

Lame

aikidoka on September 11, 2008 at 6:52 PM

isn’t she doing the first black president?

Kaptain Amerika on September 11, 2008 at 7:07 PM

Travis Bickle on September 11, 2008 at 5:23 PM

Unfortunately, she’s only 46…

SuperCool on September 11, 2008 at 7:48 PM

I’d totally tap that. I wouldn’t brag about it and I’d need to scrub with hot water afterwards.. but still… I’d TOTALLY do it………:)

KMC1 on September 11, 2008 at 8:03 PM

Well, whoever made this video wasn’t particularly bright… Palin doesn’t live in Anchorage. She has lived in Wasilla, and at last check stayed at the Governor’s Mansion in the capital, Juneau.

RightWinged on September 11, 2008 at 8:07 PM

Why are you one of the first to go wobbly AP?

Haunchie on September 11, 2008 at 9:27 PM

What, no Fargo meme?

Introduced her nosy Wasilla neighbor to a mini-woodchipper!”

Or… Time to unwrap the Anti-aborter slime?

Sarah Palin~ determined to keep giving birth, and forcing her entire gender join her!

The final line was good, the rest was boring.

canopfor on September 11, 2008 at 10:48 PM

I am glad Gina took some time out of her busy schedule working on…oh, that’s right, NOTHING…to contribute her most thought provoking take on Presidential politics. Hey, was she in Redacted? /s

PatriotPete on September 11, 2008 at 10:56 PM

Liberals are consistently wrong on Foreign and Domestic policies, but they have usually been good at entertainment.

After watching this clip, they now suck a$$ at that to.

Baxter Greene on September 12, 2008 at 1:06 AM

Die.

…no contest.

davisbr on September 12, 2008 at 2:23 AM

I’m I the only one that thinks today’s “parodies” suck? All of them? The ghosts of the Great Dictator and Dr. Strangelove will haunts these failures forever… here’s hoping An American Carol will at least try to bring some prestige back to that genre.
