The lipstick comment wasn't about Sarah Palin. Most red blooded Americans know if she was an animal it's be a fox. But the comment was uncouth and incredibly politically bad. He didn't choose his words carefully enough. But he'll need to learn to be able to speak off prompter and not make these gaffes. He's trying to be president for Christ's sake.

That seems to me to be venturing into opinion and not “fact” checking … but your mileage may vary.

That frustrated me as well. I was starting to trust the site a little, until he made the 'opinion statement a fact'.
Now I just can't quite trust them.
VERIFY! But i thought that's what they were doing...???

From the www.FactCheck.org site...

The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state, and federal levels. The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded by the Annenberg Foundation.

I believe this is the same foundation that gave $49+ million to the avowed, unrepentant terrorist William Ayers to essentially radicalize the Chicago public school system. Ayers promptly hired Barack Obama to help him run the project. Go to the www.FactCheck.org search page and type in William Ayers Barack Obama. What you find may well dispel any previously held notions of this organization's objectivity. Despite their pious protestations to the contrary, it appears that FactCheck is less than impartial and their connection to the Obama campaign is less than arm's length.

Sometimes lipstick on a pig is just lipstick on a pig, not a Freudian innuendo about where pitbull's shop for cosmetics.

I agree that McCain's campaign used it as a false accusation, and I wish at least they would stop with the hysterics. It would do us all some good.

Just like I thought picking Hillary was his only chance before; I think it’s his only option now. But will his pride let him? Just imagine if he asks her (on the QT, of course), and she refuses but then leaks it!

Another question, considering all that has happened. While Hillary's pride let her accept?

I didn't react with outrage or surprise. At first I thought that it was just a coincidental and poor choice of words, but after i heard the 'old fish' comment and the reaction from the crowd, I knew that something was up. He played it real cool when he scratched his cheek with his middle finger (in April) and the crowd's reaction was obviously good; this time he had the same cool demeanor.
O'Reilly said that there is no history of mean-spirited attacks by Obama. I guess he's now in the tank for Barry after he got all up in his face during that interview.
No wonder I rarely watch that pompous windbag.

Obama's environmental policies are like a watermelon, green on the outside, socialist red on the inside.

I somehow doubt the communication department of the Obama campaign, the MSM that is, would be explaining to us what McCain really meant if McCain were to use a watermelon analogy to criticize Obama.

So I fail to see how the pig analogy was harmless and should be ignored. I need smarter people than me to explain the double standard.

It was opinion -- and he's right. In Uh-bama's analogy, clearly Palin was the "lipstick" applied to the "pig" of McCain's policies.

What Uh...bama is lacking is some lipstick of his own to pretty up that stupid non-flying pig of a meme that "McCain = Chimpy McBushitler"... No one buys that but the BDS crowd, who are unreachable by Reason, anyway.

The lipstick thing reminds me of something a black co-worker told me one time. We were looking at the cover of a telephone book. It showed a drawing of two kids listening to two different kinds of phones It was a while back, and it was th anniversary of AT&T. The white kid was listening to a regular phone, and the black kid was listening to one of those phones made with two cans and a string. My friend said "See? That's racist. Why wasn't the white kid listening to the can?" and I said "I'm sure it wasn't meant to be racist" to which he replied "You know, he may not have meant it intentionally, but you don't understand what it's like to be the object of racism. He may not have meant it to be racist conciously, but racism also affects the subliminal mind." In other words...well, you know.
So, my point is, Hussein Obama meant the lipstick thing as a jab at Palin, of course it was subliminal.

I fear a McCain victory where Obama gets the popular vote will make the Rodney King verdict look like a walk in the park.

I don't fear that. Bring it on because if that scenario happens and violence is the result I think it will be the end of the Democrat party.

Yeah right! I dread the day that someone with an R next to their name or in the McCain camp calls Owhiner a “spade”…

A primary reason I like Palin is she doesn't whine. For all his faults, GW didn't whine either. McCain doesn't whine. Obama ... HE WHINES. Yesterday, in reply to Lipstickgate, he said, spare me the false outrage. LOL! Excuse me any moderators listening, but the balls on that guy to say that. He's the king of faux outrage and whining.

If we think PDS is bad now watch how bad it gets when Palin/McCain is elected.

It will be hard enough for the left to come to terms with their chosen one losing, but to have lost not because McCain was the better candidate but because a white conservative woman kicked his ass will drive them into fits of rage that will make BDS and Cheney hatred seem mild in comparison.

Yes, this concerns me a lot. The left has become unhinged in the last eight years and I don't see them recovering any time soon. No matter who wins will bring out the worst in them. An Obama victory will bring out the demands for vindictive things like war crimes trials and "punishment." And not just from the nutroots either, this stuff will be from party leaders and congressmen. A McCain victory will bring out four more years of hatred in the media and all up and down Democratic Party lines.

It isn't going to be pretty. And it won't be until some adults take over the Democratic Party; the closest thing they have to adults are the Clintons and we all know how well that works.

Your post came off as a bit insulting towards Track. - 2arm

I don’t let ANYBODY challenge my loyalty to our troops, I used to BE one. If somebody needs to be set straight, then so be it. Sorry if anybody took my question about the S.S. as an insult to Track but that just means you didn’t read it carefully enough and had a knee jerk reaction. I love the fact that other Posters would come to his defense if he were indeed insulted, but anybody who reads the comments on HotAir on any sort of regular basis knows that I’m 100% behind our Troops.

People are unfortunately on edge, sensitive to cr*p from the lefties. You remark was misinterpreted and I'm sure entirely innocent, simple curiousity.

Now,think about if McCain/Palin are elected. Todd will get Secret Service cover which means he'll be out on their salmon fishing boat with two guys in suits, ties and sunglasses :-) Actually should be great fun for the protection detail --- days of salmon fishing and getting paid for it too :-)

One of the things I like about this site is the fact that most people don’t use foul language or when they do, use symbols. You still get the point, but it doesn’t look like a Daily Kos comment thread. - 4shoes on September 11, 2008 at 9:56 AM

Some of us (myself included) do slip up and insert a profanity here and there in an unguarded moment. Then again, most of those who frequnt these parts (excluding the trolls) are not unhinged adolescents.

Profanity is the sauce piquante of conversation: when used sparingly and at the right time it adds zest to a verbal dish.

If too much is used, however, the food becomes unpalatable, and if it is used on food that is already rotten, it will do nothing but make it taste worse.

Yes, the 'Pig' comment was offensive, but all this attention to it is wearing thin. McCain won't win the presidency by running as Sarah McCain. He needs to focus on Barry's policies and not on mudslinging by the Dems. The citizens are capable of figuring out who the pig-in-a-poke is without Johnny Mac's help.

The Arctic Fox is speaking at the send off of Alaskan troops to Iraq today. (Personally I think cold state troops ought go to Afghanistan) Her son Trap … Trail … Track is on his way over there. Question, does he get Secret Service protection?

No, he's got an entire US Army brigade instead :-)
