Important: Matt Damon horrified by Palin

We cannot afford the possibility of an Alaska hockey mom with no experience having to face down Vladimir Putin, which is why we must elect an Illinois suburban dad with no experience who’ll definitely and immediately have to face him down. Who’s already embarrassed himself with the weakness of his response to Putin’s incursion into Georgia.

The odds he gives for McCain surviving his first term are also off, of course. Exit question: He sneers that Palin was picked for “political purposes” and nothing more. Remind me again, which important policy proposals landed trial lawyer turned first-term senator John Edwards on the national ticket four years ago? And whom did Matt Damon endorse at the time?

Thacker,

The Russians aren’t the problem; it’s the Soviet machine still alive and kicking. That’s the problem. Even when making whatever lame argument you’re attempting to make, try to get your people groups straight.

AubieJon on September 10, 2008 at 3:25 PM

Matt Damon has just proven that he is at least as stupid as I had assumed.

Chosen for political purposes? I’m shocked – Shocked! – that politics would enter into an election campaign!

landshark on September 10, 2008 at 3:25 PM

Dinosaurs?

First P-dizzle-fo-shizzle-i’m-so-ig’nant-i-can’t-choose-a-name-homie-g-funk opens up his crap trap and makes us all stupider with his “I wonder if I can jam my nose further up Obama’s crack” video.

Now Matt Damon Demon makes a video demanding to know what Sarah Palin thinks about Dinosaurs?

See what marijuana does to people (crack cocaine in that retard rapper’s case)?

leetpriest on September 10, 2008 at 3:25 PM

Matt, you dumb ass, where in the hell did get that 33% probability of death for McCain during his first term. What about your empty suit candidate that has been fewer places and has done considerably less than Palin? And you think she was picked for “political” purposes . . . what a profound conclusion. For Gods sake don’t let this idiot play with sharp items.

rplat on September 10, 2008 at 3:26 PM

The odds he gives for McCain surviving his first term…

OK, nobody wants to say it, so I will. What has the bigger possibility of happening: McCain dying during his first term or some unreconstructed racist taking a shot at Obama? I damn sure don’t want “plugs” Biden at the helm of this country.

Rumor has it this is why Powell’s wife would not let him run for high office.

Insert Team America video mocking “MATT DAMON”

Hell, insert “buttocks where our faces should be” South Park episode mocking Matt Damon. The possibilities are endless.

Spanglemaker on September 10, 2008 at 3:27 PM

Exactly why does he think that his Hollywood experience gives his the gravitas to comment on her executive (and dinosaur) experience?

Spirit of 1776 on September 10, 2008 at 3:27 PM

The “actuarial tables” argument is made by scientific illiterates (WHY IS THE LEFT ANTI-SCIENCE?). It doesn’t account for the fact that his mother is older than dirt and still living, and it certainly doesn’t account for the extraordinary medical care provided to the sitting President of the United States.

DaveS on September 10, 2008 at 3:27 PM

All of this coming from a guy who voiced a horse made by Disney, that had a voice in his head and could tell stories.

TheHat on September 10, 2008 at 3:28 PM

Obama’s 47. He’s a not-quite-former smoker. His mother died of cancer at just shy of 53. I hate to bring that up, but if people are going to point to cancer histories and age, let’s bring all the facts into the conversation.

And the Edwards business is a perfectly legitimate topic for comparison, too. If Damon could endorse that preening mediocrity, what’s the problem with Palin?

crr6, I had a half-dozen Democrats at my July 4th picnic, career DOJ and prosecutors, who I’d say are more qualified than Barack Obama to be President. If you’re that impressed by those thin bullets on his CV I certainly hope you’re never allowed to interview anyone for a job.

The guy’s a neutrino. Fast mover, but negligible mass.

DrSteve on September 10, 2008 at 3:28 PM

More like The Alaska hockey mom educated at the University of Idaho with a minor in political science and 20 months as governor vs. the former president of the Harvard Law Review who has been in the Senate 4 years, met with many foreign leaders and has served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

crr6 on September 10, 2008 at 3:14 PM

The sad thing is that you actually believe you have said something relevant.

1) Anyone who didn’t go to an Ivy league school is inferior to someone who did.
2) What foreign leaders did Obama meet while not attending any of the meetings of the Senate Foreign Relations sub-committee (not committee)
3) On the other hand, Palin not only met with foreign leaders, but carried on direct negotiations with them.

MarkTheGreat on September 10, 2008 at 3:28 PM

Palin would gut that boy, Matt, like a run’ed over moose on the Seward highway.

pabarge on September 10, 2008 at 3:28 PM

If he’s concerned about McCain passing and Palin becoming President, he surely must be concerned about Obama living and Biden NOT becoming President.

tgillian on September 10, 2008 at 3:28 PM

McCain’s mother is how old now? 96? 97? And everybody seems to act like McCain’s going to kick the bucket just any moment now.

Beo on September 10, 2008 at 3:07 PM

No kidding and did anyone else notice how fast this woman shot out of her seat when she was introduced? I replayed it 5 times to show my kids and husband because it was amazing. Please – someone load that to YouTube because McCain’s got some decent longevity genes.

Obviously, its America that makes Putin do these things! Why if it wasn’t for us, he’d never try to expand his borders and bully the world for his means. He’d mind his own business!

Will fault matter when 10’s of millions of Americans are dead? Will it make you feel better to kill 10’s of millions of Russians?

Oh, I see now, you are a disgruntled Catholic. Don’t worry, I won’t be in heaven anyway so you can just be smug in that knowledge of eternity.

ThackerAgency on September 10, 2008 at 3:22 PM

So you think that abject surrender is the best way to make sure that Russia doesn’t kill millions of Americans? Or is it just that you like the way Putin rules.

And anyone who objects to your anti-Catholic bigotry must somehow be a Catholic?

Man, if you could think just a little bit better, you could give Matt Damon a run for his money.

MarkTheGreat on September 10, 2008 at 3:34 PM

I’m sorry, but the age thing is offensive. I think the Dems bring it up in the context of senility at least as often (or more) as they bring it up in the context of him dying in office. To that, I say if he is so out of it (senile), he shouldn’t be in the friggin’ Senate.

In terms of dying in office, anyone can die at any time. The whole point is that in electing a president, we’re picking someone who will assemble a team. If McCain did have a recurrence of cancer, he would not drop dead overnight. There would be a transition to Palin, the Cabinet and advisors would assist, and the country would survive.

And, at the risk of bringing up a delicate subject, what happens to the actuarial tables when race is added into the calculation? It’s my understanding that black men have a higher chance of dying a violent death. The Obama camp likes to point out that their candidate is different. Which of the two candidates is more likely to be assassinated?

Should I factor that into my decision? Of course not.

It is ironic that the democrats, who beat on the insurance industry all the time, are relying on actuarial tables to make their case for Obama for president.

The really stupid part; just look how the “running of the mouth with out of the mainstream Liberal comments” has worked out for Clooney, Rosie, Penn, and all of the other Hollywood loons. This is a road that leads to utter failure for these Hollywood critters who have walked before Damon.

MarkTheGreat on September 10, 2008 at 3:45 PM

From Politico:

S.C. Dem chair: Palin primary qualification is she hasn’t had an abortion

South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate ” whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”

Palin is an opponent of abortion rights and gave birth to her fifth child, Trig, earlier this year after finding out during her pregnancy that the baby had Down syndrome.

Fowler told my colleague Alex Burns in an interview that the selection of an opponent of abortion rights would not boost McCain among many women.

“Among Democratic women and even among independent women, I don’t think it helped him,” she said.

Told of McCain’s boost in the new ABC/Washington Post among white women following the Palin pick, Fowler said: “Just anecdotally, I believe that those white women are Republican women anyway.”

Never thought I’d quote a neighbor across the stateline on a political blog…but…

Here’s Kid Rock’s take on all of this:

“I truly believe that people like myself, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics because at the end of the day, I’m good at writing songs and singing.

“What I’m not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for… I think would be very irresponsible on my part.”

Kid Rock…nice guy from Michigan.

Matt Damon…some guy from Massachusetts.

OMT: I love the music created by Bruce Springsteen. The man is gifted for sure. However, since he became so damn political on stage, force feeding his audience Liberal talking points, I stopped buying his CD’s and make no effort what so ever to support the man.

This is the price one pays when they attempt to force feed their political views on the public. Politics like Religion, are very private matters. I’m not an extremely religious person, however I do honor and respect those who are. It’s only when someone attempts to shove their religion down my throat that I pull back and unload. I feel the same way about politics. I hang out with people that are like minded if I have a choice. I don’t hang out at KOS or DU because I don’t belong there, I’m not like minded, but I do honor and respect the rights of those who do hang out there if they are there for the right reasons.

Which brings me back to Rywall….. Oh, never mind!

Keemo on September 10, 2008 at 3:49 PM

You know I’ve always liked Matt Damon as an actor and I’ve continued to watch his movies even though his political leanings are so removed from mine. Unfortunately, Damon has resorted to name calling and making fun of Palin’s political experience which is sad because I thought he was smarter than that. Here’s a clue for Damon “Shut Up and Act”. What’s next? You’re going to move out of the country if we all end up in a bad Disney movie? There’s a reason why actors are just actors – Damon is the proof.

Texasrocker on September 10, 2008 at 3:49 PM

Aren’t actors the epitome of empty suits?

They recite lines written by other people. They let other people do the stunts and actions that take skill. They often let others with better bodies become body doubles for nude scenes.

Stick with acting, Damon. Oh, wait…I saw “The Good Shepherd”. Nevermind.

I’m not even going to watch the video. How can anyone be not be horrified over the fact that B.O. has no experience outside of the streets of Chi-town, oh wait, he does have 140 days experience as a senator and he did consider joining the military.

People, people, if you aren’t smart enough to get with the O!’s program, or too busy going to church and playing with your guns, you will find yourselves under the bus.
