Fred Thompson: How would the media treat Palin’s bio if she was a Democrat?

posted at 7:05 pm on September 10, 2008 by Allahpundit

Courtesy of Ed Driscoll and PJM, I haven’t seen a softball this soft since watching Olbermann play slo-pitch with Obama the other night. Is it true that the ‘Cuda’s narrative is tailor-made for leftist movie-of-the-week hagiography, though? A woman as resolutely pro-life as her really isn’t, shall we say, qualified.

Your related exit quotation, from Rasmussen’s new gimme poll of attitudes about the media: “Interestingly, while 83% of Republican voters think most reporters are trying to help Obama, 19% of Democrats agree, one percentage point higher than the number of Democrats who believe they are trying to help McCain. Unaffiliated voters by a 53% to 10% margin see reporters trying to help Obama.”

Blowback

they need to start making ads showing that McCain has some bad Arses that are going to be vetting his judges (fred) and other appointments

Yeah, if she were a liberal and she was beaten by her hubby, she’d be a movie on LifeTime.

The same way they are attacking Obama’s inexperience. The democrats just do it with such hate that borders close to being evil.

volsense on September 10, 2008 at 7:11 PM

Keep Fred in Virginia…send Mitt to Colorado and Nevada (if he wants to go. Where WAS he during Palin’s speech?)..send Rudy to Florida and *gulp* New Jersey…send Palin to Pennsylvania…send McCain to Michigan, New Mexico, and Ohio.

Well, if Sarah was a Democrat, the Left would call her “intelligent,” “proven,” “courageous,” “commited to principle,” and “unafraid to do the right thing.”

But then, in their little Bizzaroworld, the Dems see all of this as being a negative. Instead, they call her a hick with a trailer park family, who’s too religiously bent to have an abortion, even when she probably ought to.

I give Sarah all the credit in the world for standing up to the hatred being shown to her by the Left. I truly hope that the Independents are watching the Dems melting down, and are horrified at the thought of being aligned with them.

Actually, all kidding aside,Governor Sarah Palin
story of growing up in Alaska, raising a family in
those harsh conditions, and rise in politics,is
the ‘real McKoy’ movie that Hollywood only
dreams of making!!!!

Its authentic,and the real deal!!

canopfor on September 10, 2008 at 7:22 PM

The point is…she couldn’t be a democrat with her bio. What democrat goes after their own party, what democrat refuses earmarks, what democrat has an 80% plus approval rating, what democrat wouldn’t abort their down syndrom child?…the real fact is, she couldn’t be a democrat.

Mommypundit on September 10, 2008 at 7:23 PM

Foghorn J Leghorn has it right.

I think it’s time to get Rudy really busy on the campaign trail. Hurling the truth at Osama Obama is vital between now and the election.

I can’t remember where they said he was today, but Mitt called in to Howie Carr this afternoon and basically said he’s “whereever they need him to be”. I think McCain and Palin should be scouring Penn., Ohio, and Michigan (She could be HUGE there); three crucial states where I think Sarah can really make a major impact, a sort of “Sarah Belt”, if you will.

Hold Ohio and peel off Michigan and Penn. and Obama’s cooked.

“Keep in mind that technically had I meant it this way — she would be the lipstick,” and McCain’s policies would be the pig, he added.

Obama on the “offensive” again.

Yeah, I’m confused about AP’s comments.

But, get ‘em Fred!.

davidk on September 10, 2008 at 7:37 PM

The point in the rasmussen poll is that 69% of the people thing the media is in the tank for either McCain or Obama.

And 50% of Americans think its for Obama. So that means 19% think that the Media is backing McCain.

And so a closer look at the numbers means that 20% of DEMOCRATS think the media is in the tank for Obama. That is 1% higher than democrats who think the Media is backing McCain

William Amos on September 10, 2008 at 7:43 PM

I heard the audio, yet I picture Fred in ‘character’
from the movie “Flight of the Intruder”,as he’s
speaking!!!

So,it would be nice if Fred could take the odd trip
aboard McCain/Palin campaign bus,that would be a
surprise!

Haha thanks for that link, Bill.

I resent the claim that Olbermann’s interview of Obama was a “softball” interview.

It was T-ball. Get it right.

ynot4tony2 on September 10, 2008 at 9:19 PM

AP, I’m sure I speak for all sane inhabitants of Tennessee’s 9th Congressional district when I say you have our heartfelt appreciation. After that humiliating speech this morning by our so-called ‘representative’, Steve Cohen, we were slinking around with tails tucked. We desperately needed a shot of teh FRED! to restore the pride. Thanks for obliging!

grits on September 10, 2008 at 9:29 PM

Go Fred! I hope you’re in the cabinet.

Mojave Mark on September 10, 2008 at 10:31 PM

Thank, you, Fred. Finally, someone asks the right question. All we’ve heard from our side is “would they treat a man like this?” Replace the word “man” with “democrat” and you’re on the right track.
That reminds me, if Sarak Palin had said “You know what? I think Mitt Romney would have been a better VP pick,” the MSM would have been all over it like a cheap suit. It will be interesting to see their reaction to Joe Biden’s comments.

infidel65 on September 11, 2008 at 4:47 AM

How would the media treat Palin’s bio if she was a Democrat?

Moot, I think. The media driven culture has brain washed many into believing that a Dem woman would NEVER resemble a person like Palin. You know, able to: bring home the Moose ribs, fry em up in the pan, and make BO look much less than a man.

I can’t wait for the debates …

Benjamin9 on September 11, 2008 at 5:38 AM

Amen on the debates!! Sarah will eat ‘em alive as will McCain.

Tim Zank on September 11, 2008 at 7:45 AM

Palin is pro-life. If she were a Democrat, they’d be trying to drive her out of the party.

MarkTheGreat on September 11, 2008 at 7:58 AM

That was a question, right? Do you need an answer?

tarpon on September 11, 2008 at 8:56 AM

Remember when vet was a sports car or someone who neutered your dog? Stop saying “vetting” like it’s a word you can’t get enough of. Jeezum Crow.
