You’re absolutely correct (on all points). I saw them together in Washington PA, the day after the announcement. She has a great deal of enthusiastic respect for him, and he beams like a proud father. She’s rubbing off on him, too. He’s getting back a lot of that feisty energy we used to see in him. They work really well together.

Besides, we are engaged in what is arguably the most important presidental election of our lifetimes. Now is the time for us who support John McCain and Sarah Palin to put aside our differences and do everything we an to wn the this election.

More importantly, the Church — like any church — is about community and service.

Church is about worship first. If you have the worship right, then the community and service parts will come on their own. If your focus is community and service first, then you might as well join the Moose Lodge.

Sorry for the late response, Lansing. I went to bed right after my last post.

I suppose you could say that I am an orthodox Catholic in the sense that I accept and believe everything the Church teaches. Praxis is another matter. I have my own, very personal, spiritual issues with which I struggle and my own fair share of sins in want of shriving. I am in no position to hurl stones at others in these matters. After all, I am not God.

McCain and Palin are running as Pres/VP, why shouldn’t they campaign together? Lord knows Obama needs to keep Biden near him at all times. Laurel and Hardy those two..

I think the synergy of the two at this point outweighs the ‘coverage’ angle – at least for the time frame they are talking about.

She is so far removed from Washington that this will allow extra time to hone the McCain/Palin message and give Sarah a chance to learn from Maverick’s tutleage.

McCain got a chance to meet guys like Pawlenty and Romney over the years – but it’s not too often a politicians travels take him to Alaska.

With all the baseless Palin smears being spread you know the media is going to try it’s hardest to get a ‘gotcha’ moment on her. Don’t think Palin will be given a free pass by the media jackals (Hot Air staff excluded) if she has a ‘muslim moment’.

I like the idea of making them wait just because of how eager I know they are to try to smear her. Added bonus: She is more on message and better prepared.

L.Q., as a self-described PUMA, what was it that turned you off Obama and onto McCain/Palin (or is it just Palin?)? Just curious. We’ve had some lady PUMAs posting here lately, and they seem to be outraged at the sexism from the Obama camp. Was that it for you too, or was there something else?

Well, for starters, I was a Michigan Primary voter (“lansing” for “Lansing, MI”), and that whole debacle sent me into a tailspin of “wha? really? HUH?”

I mean, Democrats screamed and kicked that — allegedly — the Republicans stole ballots in ’00 in FL (and to a lesser extent, ’04 Ohio). But here was the Democratic leadership, carving up Michigan to the public eye.

My Obama friends lied and spun and parroted “Obama did was was right! All candidates were required to remove their names! And it’s your own fault — blame OTHER Democrats, but not Obama!”

From there it got into the sexism, the “racism!” canard, and so on. That just got me angry, aside from the actual “Obama is bad on policy” thought that went through my head. Before it was “Obama is worse, but is still a Democrat!” Now it’s just “Obama is worse.” Hopefully that makes sense!

I think that might be the most commented on diary at Michigan Liberal in quite some time.

As far as Palin? No, I don’t take it a gender pander, though I do prefer female politicians (hey, we all have our biases, and I’m not afraid to admit!). But it’s not like they could have thrown up “VAGINA ’08!” like the Obama-Left said it was. I generally agree with Palin’s policies and respect her positions. It basically buttressed how I felt McCain was better than Obama.
