Video: Red State Update on Obama’s Muslim “gaffe”

An old joke but a good one. Speaking of smears, did you know that goofing on community organizers now constitutes “swift-boating”? True story, according to a guy who finds himself roughly as dazzled by Obama’s decision not to go work on Wall Street after graduating from college — a choice thousands of Ivy grads make each year — as by McCain bearing up under five years of torture by the Vietcong.

I still don’t understand why you call it “gaffe“. It really was a gaffe, on any level.
Afraid that calling gaffe a gaffe will make you look like a Muslim-rumor-spreading-bigot?
Aristotle on September 9, 2008 at 10:43 AM
Obama went through hell during that 5 second decision! Poor guy! He then sacrificed by going to work studying to be President by being a Community Organizer, gathering up homeless people, giving them fake names, driving them to polling places, dumping them back in the alleys, arranging bribes, hiring goons to beat up pollsters…yeah, like the training scenes from Rocky!

Oh, come ON! Trotting out that emotional old canard, when Randi Rhodes exPLODED that myth yesterday?!?!
You must think we’re all backwoods hicks.

But… but… but he’s qualified to be prez because he was a ‘community organizer’
petefrt on September 9, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Huh, I still find that comment, even in the context of the interview, strange.
Inexperience as a politician? Probably…
ballz2wallz on September 9, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Pretty funny. The last line is my favorite:
“Even is he is a Muslim, that’s way down on my list of reasons to hate him.”
For the record, I think Obama is entirely secular, but he’s free to portray himself however he wants – which is apparently as a Christian.

Maxx on September 9, 2008 at 10:57 AM
Everyone blows this up into a ‘gaffe’ when I think it’s one of his relatively rare non-gaffes. It sounded to me like he was complimenting the McCain campaign on not trying to push the meme that he’s Muslim.
Well, ok – he did do a clumsy job of that so I suppose it is a gaffe.
KCSteve on September 9, 2008 at 10:57 AM
I know this is not what AP thinks, but it wasn’t a gaffe because Hussein was just telling the truth. So in a sense it wasn’t a gaffe, but the truth that slipped.
MobileVideoEngineer on September 9, 2008 at 10:58 AM

sven10077 on September 9, 2008 at 11:01 AM
Community oragnizers haven’t changed much since the days when “communities” were referred to as “villages”. The biggest change has been to apply the politically correct standards of today to the more descriptive functional terminology of years past so as not to denegrate the self esteem of those who served that role. While today’s community organizer is no different than yesterday’s village idiot, our kinder and gentler society precludes the use of the “i” word in polite discourse.
In modern society, there is a place for everyone. And just as no village was complete without its own idiot, no community these days can claim to be truly inclusive without its designated organizer.
Jim M. on September 9, 2008 at 11:01 AM
Only an insane person with a very bad case of PCism would deny that Barack Hussein Obama is a muslim, despite the mounds of evidence proving that he is.
Embrace the truth don’t run from it.
This is how we will win.
Unless of course you would like to risk having a Saudi funded manchurian candidate win the white house, just so you won’t appear “racist”.

Cohen feels the rats crawling up his leg just like any sentient Obamaton does these days.
They don’t yet realize the Obama balloon is busted. Not just a pinprick, either, but a two-inch gash. They keep blowing into it. Blow, Cohen, blow.
Pavel on September 9, 2008 at 11:04 AM
I don’t think Al Burack is a practicing Muslim (as of today), and frankly i’d pick a Muslim over a liberal any time. At least Muslims have some non-egocentric values.
But seriously, calling it a non-gaffe makes AP look foolish and knee jerked.
Aristotle on September 9, 2008 at 11:04 AM
Ahh, the “Obama is secretly Muslim” trope. The fact that some number of conservatives still think Obama is religious in any meaningful way is just precious.
He attends a bigoted hate church for a few decades for political reasons, then tosses them under the bus without looking back. I somehow doubt religious scruples are really on his radar.
Lehosh on September 9, 2008 at 11:07 AM
If Palin had said this, there would be 500 MSM reporters descending on her church at this very moment, looking for any speck of evidence that could prove she was muslim.
Oh, and such a gaffe would immediately prove she is an out-of-touch, unready for the big office rube.
Bishop on September 9, 2008 at 11:07 AM
Cohen seems to equate 5 1/2 years as a POW with not going to a high-paying New York law firm as far as courageous situations go — Obama could have been rolling in dough, but chose not to to become a community organizer, which therefore displays the bravery that qualifies him to be president.
As for the verbal gaffe on ABC, at least Daffy’s problem was with pronouns. Obama’s having trouble just differentiating the nouns right now. But even if it was just an inelegant way of saying McCain has not spread the “Obama’s a Muslim” claim, his other recent gaffes like “New Pennsylvania” or “Nittaly Lions” have gotten to the point where Republicans should put together YouTube highlight reel of Barack’s biggest flubs, probably to the sound of “Yakety Sax” from The Benny Hill Show.
jon1979 on September 9, 2008 at 11:09 AM
Question, knowing all of the famous Bush gaffes, such as: “Terrorists never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.” that happened in Bush’s two terms in office,
Does anyone know if Bush made mistakes as frequently while he was campaigning as Obama has done so far? Such as ten thousand people died, there are 57 states, my muslim faith … Because if you are going to compare the two, you need to compare apples to apples. Compare both of them in the months of campaigning before the election. Is Obama ahead of Bush at this point, I wonder?
Just think if Obama is elected, all the books that will be written of his “Obamaisms.“

Oh, and he’s not a muslim. Stop wasting time with rumors and focus on the numerous proven disturbing things about him.
MadisonConservative on September 9, 2008 at 11:19 AM
Obama is Muslim as the day is long.
In fact I would go so far as to say he is a sleeper.
He just attended that America / white hating church to throw us off.
Nah, nah, nah ,nah NOT GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD DAMN AMERICA.
Just remember this:
Al Queda, Hamas, Hezbollah, poot poot, Chavez and Amadinerjacket love him and want him to when.
I wonder way that is.
TheSitRep on September 9, 2008 at 11:19 AM
I just watched through Lettermans Bushisms compilation, and i’m confident Al Burack has already passed him.
Bush can easily be distracted and as a result he messed up some sentences grammatically, but he never spewed batsh*t crazy crazyness like 57 States, New Pennsylvania, 10,000 killed by Kansas tornados, non-existing Uncle who served in the Russian army and liberated Aushwitz, remembering “The Bomb” that was dropped on Pearl Harbor and so on.
Aristotle on September 9, 2008 at 11:20 AM
I agree that there are more reasons to keep Obama out of the White House than just “he’s a Muslim”, but if it’s such a “non-factor” then why is everyone in Obama’s campaign so afraid of the M and I words?
There are 10,000 other things that make Obama dangerous for this country, but the fact that people are becoming so PC that they have to cover for the truth (not just not acknowledge it, but actually COVER it up) is dangerous as well. I said in the other “Don’t pay attention to the truth, I’ll tell you what the truth is” thread by Allah that our country is going to be gone sooner than I thought if this continues.
MobileVideoEngineer on September 9, 2008 at 11:21 AM
I keep hearing Obama tossed the Trinity Church under the bus.
Which church is he attending right now? Anybody managed to investigate its track record? Is he using the excuse that he’s too busy running for POTUS to seek a new church?
What about Michelle O and the kids? Are they still Trinity church mmembers?
Where is some real journalistic investigation when you need them?

All I know is those interviews from O’reilly and Snuffalufagus, has reminded me of Senator Palpatine who later revealed to be the sith lord. Obama’s gaffes and accidental gaffes show who he truly is.
A DUMMY WHO VOTES “PRESENT” 100 TIMES.
jaboba on September 9, 2008 at 11:37 AM
Why is he not a muslim? Because the MSM tells you so?
Here are the facts:
Percy Sutton( a well known civil rights activist) admits that he was introduced to Obama by Dr. Khalid al Mansour..a radical black muslim, who represents one of the world’s richest men…the Saudi Prince Al-Waleed!
Khalid on the behalf of the Saudi Prince approached Percy Sutton and asked him to help secure Obama’s entrance into Harvard.
Why were the saudi prince and extremist muslims
concerned with Obama getting into Harvard long ago?
Now consider that it is a documented fact that the same Saudi prince, owns controlling interests in most of the major media outlets and could potentially blackmail them with the threat of selling off all his stock for pennies on the dollar and force them to lose billions overnight.

Obama is a sleeper candidate. If he wins it will be a coup from within.

Oh they are not. They are just part of the evil in the world.
However I think there is a link between Putin/Chaves and Islam, just like the ties that existed between the Nazi’s third Reich and Islam.
All people or groups that hate America and want to see it gone are the same to me. I don’t want to waste time understanding the nuances, I just wanna kill’em.

You can think about all the links you like. However, if you’re talking about killing people based on your presumptions that they are Muslim, then you are disturbed. Very, very disturbed.
No, because I know the extremist church he belongs/belonged to. I know a lot of other things about his past, as do many here. Also, you’re a zealot about your religion. I would expect you to buy this kind of tripe hook, line, and sinker.

Please elaborate. I’m sorry you think people need to be saved from buying into debunked rumors. Silly me, focusing on actual things like William Ayers.
It’s utterly mind-boggling how people like you are dead-set on focusing on unsubstantiated crap to paint Obama as a Muslim when we already know he’s in league with actual terrorists. That kind of mentality, the thirst for conspiracy, speaks of trutherism.

Lehosh on September 9, 2008 at 11:07 AM
Not that you need validation, but I agree with you. Religion is a prop that is used by Obama as long as it serves his ends. As you alluded to; any prop that begins to look like a liability is immediately discarded and replaced with the next convenient prop. I am cynical enough to believe this would even apply to his wife and children. It certainly applied to the grandmother who raised him.

What is it with rockers dying in plane crashes. With over fifty years of history on this, you’d think they’d learn to take a bus. I’ve taken hundreds of flights on small planes, but only four or five landings, so I avoid the most dangerous part.
