Of course I’m racist. I’m against any person of any race who opposes drilling for our own oil. I’m also against any person of any race who supports surrender, socialism, and taxes. My bigotry in that regard ranges far and wide.

Let’s not fall into that trap so easily. Anytime the Republican Congress attempted anything that annoyed the Democratic base [i.e., "Soros"], the Dems pulled out the fillabuster in the Senate and shut it down. That tactic came out time and again. To get anything done, Republican leadership moved on to less controversial bills.

Well then, can you explain how in the world they can get it done now without a majority in the House or Senate? I realize that the price at the pump right now is painfully high, but at the time, the price of gas was also, what seemed painfully high. You cannot tell me that there weren’t many people in both House and Senate and within the entire Republican constituency who did not know that oil supplies vs. demands were going to be an issue in the near future. It wasn’t done then because it did not suit their collective political fortunes and if you don’t think that they will sell you right down the river again when it suits their collective political fortunes, then you don’t know politicians very well.

Here is what I cannot figure out: How can this be a Republican issue if when the Republicans controlled the House, the Senate, and the WH, they did nothing? Why only now, during an election, are they making a fuss about the drilling? Don’t get me wrong, I want drilling here, there, everywhere, but I don’t see why anyone would trust the Republicans on this issue.

The Senate Republicans who’ve joined the gang of whatever provide a perfect illustration of why McCain should not/could not/did not choose a senator as his running mate.
