Are you suggesting that Palin really wants Alaska to secede from the union and that her oath of office to become governor was a lie, that this religious fundmentalist put her hand on the bible and lied to her God in front of the whole state of Alaska? Even if she did, which is wildly farfetched, what would be the salience of this to her political situation here in the lower 48? As VP she would work through back channels to help Alaska secede? COME ON!!! Is that all you’ve got?

Being a pragmatic, understanding and some might say pandering politician; Sarah Palin addresses the Alaskan Independence Party convention.

It was really interesting to read her views on the subject. Even with how wordy it was it kept my total attention throughout the article.

Ol’ Camille has one virtue if she has no other: she thinks for herself.

So, she probably thinks that her lesbianism is OK, but would talk your ear off if you had the opportunity to discuss it with her. She probably thinks that her support for Obama and her general social liberalism has rational underpinnings…and, once more, she’d bury you in verbiage if you gave her half a chance.

But, for as long as I’ve been reading her, these and the no doubt myriad other things which separate me from her pale when I take the time to actually give her an honest read. She is a modernist social critic, where fashion is reality, and yet she still manages to come to conclusions without letting fashion be the arbiter.

She thinks for herself. Let that be said of us and every one of us.

The fact, by the way, that she often puts into words ideas which were only shapeless, flabby notions in my head is another plus. I always tend to admire people who make ideas I claim as my own seem eloquent….

OK, Mr. Fact-check.org. Go thou and read this and then get back to me with specific examples that demonstrate that she is an extremist. Oh, and by extremist, I don’t mean anything that you find offensive. Extremist means anything that is way outside mainstream points of view on both sides of the spectrum. So, for example, to believe in God, and to pray to God is not extreme, because huge swathes of the America public, and most presidents before, say, Kennedy invoked divine providence in public addresses. Being religious–not extreme. Believing that anyone of a different religion should be penalized in some way for it–extreme. Got it? Now get to work and back up your scurrilous charge, or go back to the DU and stay there.

But the one fundamental precept that Democrats must stand for is independent thought and speech. When they become baying bloodhounds of rigid dogma, Democrats have committed political suicide.

Palin has made the biggest step forward in feminism since Madonna channeled the dominatrix persona of high-glam Marlene Dietrich and rammed pro-sex, pro-beauty feminism down the throats of the prissy, victim-mongering, philistine feminist establishment…

Has this alien to American culture ever visited earth?

Try spending a weekend in Maine, or any other State, where the weather is dangerous, the wages are not as high as everywhere else and husbands and wives cooperate to survive. My wife, and many women like her, have inherited the role that has been handed down to American women in terms of false equality, but she like others have actually made good at it. Honest women with honor that work hard, love their man and their children and don’t whine about it.

Comparing Madonna to that type of woman, with true grit and sense of justice and a true sense of equality is an insult to those women. Madonna has hurt the image of women and cheapened their role in modern society, which is just a part of her total failure as an American woman. She doesn’t deserve the title, and tarnishes the image of true female American heroes that make this the best country on the planet.
