Biden: Palin becoming VP would be a step back for women
posted at 11:09 am on September 9, 2008 by Allahpundit
People are sending this around like it’s some egregious gaffe or insult. Why? Unlike Heather MacDonald, I’m willing to play a little identity politics in the interests of victory — emphasis on a little. His talking point here, that conservative policies are bad for women, is standard lefty fare; to the extent Palin subscribes to them, he’s only giving her the same business he’d give Bush, Cheney, McCain, et al. Have we already reached the point where we’re fake-outraged at the idea that a woman in office could conceivably be a net loss for women, notwithstanding the virtue of having the glass ceiling shattered in the process? I’d hate to have to revisit that theory if/when Her Majesty reemerges in 2012.
Exit question: Actually, it’s perfectly clear why people are sending this around, isn’t it?

Joe Biden-more of a woman than Sarah Palin….
sven10077 on September 9, 2008 at 11:12 AM
This is nothing to get steamed up about. Amusing, yes, as Joe Biden of all people tries to sound “reasonable,” but it’s no biggie.
MrScribbler on September 9, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Say, doesn’t Joe’s bishop want to talk to him?
a capella on September 9, 2008 at 11:13 AM
I tell ya, all Palin has to do is get a little under his skin and he’ll spontaneously combust.
drjohn on September 9, 2008 at 11:14 AM
This is just politics as usual from Biden, what did anyone expect him to say?
Maxx on September 9, 2008 at 11:14 AM
I assume you mean he looks like he was in a bar all night and lost the fight over the last dish of peanuts, Allah.

This bite is a gift from God. Thank you, Joey Scranton.
Pasalubong on September 9, 2008 at 11:14 AM
They are so intent on tying her to Bush, but she fought Bush and his regime…like everything else this will backfire.
I would bet that Biden has voted more for Bush policies then Palin (seeing as he was a senator and she wasn’t).
Now he is saying that supporting Palin makes you “backward”? Because she is from a small town…see how easy it is to turn this back on him.
Although he did not support the surge which is why the surge is working, according to him…what a strange little man.
right2bright on September 9, 2008 at 11:15 AM
A women in the Number 2 spot in the world is a step back? Biden was a stepback in evolution from birth.
theguardianii on September 9, 2008 at 11:15 AM
I think Joe has been talking to his cardboard cut out of McCain just a little too much.
lorien1973 on September 9, 2008 at 11:16 AM
Does anyone think that Biden is going to be dumped in favor of Hillary? Can’t you see Crazy Joe just coming out with something so Wrightlike that Obama will throw him under the bus? I sure can.

o/t Glenn Beck is talking about how Biden is endorsing segregation in Iraq based on race and religion. Everything is upside down! Could it be the end days?

stenwin77 on September 9, 2008 at 11:17 AM
The real question is: Will Joe Biden purposely make stupid comments to give Obama an excuse to dump him in favor of Hillary?
Samhain on September 9, 2008 at 11:17 AM
By attacking mainstream values, Biden insults Middle America, especially those of the white female persuasion. His statement is polarizing, almost tantamount to Barry’s bitter clinging crack. Good work, Joe!
petefrt on September 9, 2008 at 11:18 AM
The reason Joe Biden was picked is because he is more of a woman than Hillary…. don’t you know.

Palin has a bigger pair than Biden, I’m sure he feels threatened
jp on September 9, 2008 at 11:20 AM
Yes, faux-outrage is just as pathetic from ‘our side’ as it is from ‘theirs’.
Biden is desperately trying to give a professional politician’s delivery to the same worm-riddled lefty horseshit they’ve been shoveling for decades.
LimeyGeek on September 9, 2008 at 11:21 AM
A step back, indeed. Next thing you know, they will start wearing shoes and wander out of their rightful place in the kitchen! You go, Joe!
Jim M. on September 9, 2008 at 11:21 AM
“
Would be“?!Binding Palin to Bush?! LOL.
Whether Biden sees Palin as a lame duck’s VP, or merely as Bush’s incarnation, Biden is obviously confused, showing prominent signs of mental deterioration. If ever he was, he certainly is not “with it” any longer. He persists in enhancing his own slow reputation for being mentally challenged.
maverick muse on September 9, 2008 at 11:21 AM
While 82% of voters who support McCain believe the justices should rule on what is in the Constitution, just 29% of Barack Obama’s supporters agree. Just 11% of McCain supporters say judges should rule based on the judge’s sense of fairness, while nearly half (49%) of Obama supporters agree.
Telling, Isn’t it?
It’s all slowly coming together.. wow
stlpatriot on September 9, 2008 at 11:21 AM
Well obviously, Joe. The only thing that defines “women” in DNC terms is, “believes in abortion.” Just like the only thing that defines a minority is “believes in affirmative action.” If they DONT believe in these things, then they are race and gender traitors and deserve to be destroyed.

Folks, we have to thank Obama for being such an idiot in choosing Biden. This is going to get hilarious further down the road.
I am suspecting that something is going to happen to Biden, that he has to suddenly give up his position on the ticket.

TooTall on September 9, 2008 at 11:24 AM
Hillary won’t take it.
If Obama loses without Hillary, she has a shot at 2012, if she is on the ticket, she is out of the running.
She has no respect for Obama, and I honestly believe she did not think he could win. Her best bet is to watch Obama implode.
I think with just 60 days, Obama is stuck with Biden, I doubt anyone wants to hop on Obama’s train right now.
right2bright on September 9, 2008 at 11:24 AM
Naw, it’s too late in the day for that now. Hillary isn’t going to tie herself to this disaster, and Palinmania has had enough time to take solid root. It can’t be turned around, and Hillary knows that. The donks are in a death spiral with no place to turn. I’m hoping ther are some long coat tails attached to this thing, although watching Palin preside over Pelosi in the Senate might almost be worth a donk majority. No, not really.:)

I am constantly hearing ads now that scare women voters into voting for Obama because McPalin will reverse Roe v. Wade.
I guess it’s part of the game, but I don’t want to hear a single Democrat complain about Republicans using fear tactics!
Democrats are starting to sound like the kid who gets hurt playing kick-ball, blames it on the other kids and runs home to tell Mom, Dad, and the School Board.

MJK: Biden becoming VP would be a step back for hair plug wearing men with no executive experience. Unless, of course, sticking one’s foot in one’s mouth is considered “experience.”
Sorry, darling, you can’t dictate what kind of woman becomes the possible VP. And if this is the one, just because she isn’t burning her bra, burying her uterus under a tree, or talking about how much men suck, doesn’t make her not a feminist.

His decision has a lot more ramifications than just 2008. If he hadn’t picked Biden, odds are, McCain wouldn’t have picked Palin, although that is certainly open to argument. That creates a whole new dimension for Her Majesty’s plans in 2012. Hillary running for the WH with a VP term under her belt against a male pubbie is a lot different calculus than what is now on the board.
a capella on September 9, 2008 at 11:34 AM
OT, but I am staring to believe Gov Palin is so appealing because she’s the genuine article.
My son used to work for an armored car company. They taught him how to spot counterfeit bills NOT by showing him fakes, but by becoming an expert at what the genuine article looks and feels like.
While some folks are more easily fooled, we generally all have an innate sense of authenticity…Gov Palin IS the real thing, and by comparing her to Obama, all of his phoniness comes clearly into focus.

mjk +1
So far, Biden has managed to keep his balance standing on one foot at a time while inserting the other foot into his mouth for decades. From Biden’s Vietnam War experience (or his lack thereof from Veterans’ perspective), Biden’s experience is all of the wrong sort, flaming the Killing Fields in Cambodia up to today’s flaming of the American Woman to be burnt at his campaign altar.
If Biden were harmless, he might have entertainment value. But aligned with Obama, his malignancy has metastasized.

Loxodonta on September 9, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Was it just a coincidence that gas was under 2.00 and the unemployment rare was under 5% before the 2006 elections when democrats promised change. Since they have had the control of Congress, our economy has floundered. Is this inflicted by a do nothing Congress or merely a coicidence?Libs are diciples of Joseph Goebbels, one of the most evil propagandists in history. His point was “if you repeat a lie long enough, it becomes the truth.” Every democrat has screamed Bush is stupid for 7 years and now its thought worldwide. Bush policies had the economy booming until 2006. Attacking Bush’s intelligence and now his policies may be just coincidences, but are they just practicing what Uncle Joseph taught them?
volsense on September 9, 2008 at 11:45 AM
This shouldn’t be a revelation. It’s the new talking point of Joebama these days. Connect McPalin to President Bush as furthering his policies, just as if they were in lockstep with the current administration.
It really has nothing to do with Palin personally. It has to do with the insinuation that this would be business as usual; Bush’s third term.
I think it’s pretty obvious to even the most casual Oberserver that W and McCain do not like each other and do not think the same way.

Maybe Biden will suddenly reveal that he is pregnant and go into hiding.
This Biden replacement theory is interesting. So many things at play. Obama’s ego, having to beg Billary, having to explain to Michelle. I think as long as the race is as close as it is, Obama will roll the dice with Biden.
Mr_Magoo on September 9, 2008 at 11:58 AM

Miss_Anthrope on September 9, 2008 at 11:59 AM
The only way this could work would be if Biden were to do Obama the favor of dropping dead.
Then a properly mournfull Hillary could do the honor of replacing the “valiant warrior” on the Obama ticket.
We need to make sure that Biden gets a really good food taster.
MarkTheGreat on September 9, 2008 at 12:02 PM
This would be a perfect opportunity for Palin to explain to Dirty Harry, (and Biden), that 1000 Marines followed by battle tested Army combat brigade are hardly considered “few resources”. Proof again that the left have no confidence in our military prowess or resolve.
