Quotes of the day

posted at 10:36 pm on September 8, 2008 by Allahpundit

“In democratic systems, politics often throws up women like Sarah Palin. They look and sound very different from the men around them — Palin seems to have taken a conscious decision to wear skirts, unlike Hillary Clinton and her jokey ‘sisterhood of the travelling pantsuit’ — but their agenda is even more anti-feminist than their male peers…

That is what makes right-wing women so dangerous to other women. They have perfected the trick of stamping a feminine image on male power and selling it as something new, when what they are in reality the most fervent upholders of the status quo or even determined — as Palin is over reproductive rights — to turn the clock back.”

*
“But central to Palin’s red-state appeal is her earthy embrace of motherhood. She differs from mainstream feminists in that her sexuality and fecundity are not in tension with her achievement and power. If anything, they rise out of them. Instead of holding her back, her five children embody her energy, competence, authority, and optimism…

Still, whatever the appeal of red-state feminism, it should bring no comfort to anyone in favor of a more mature political culture. Red staters share with their blue-state counterparts a tendency to sentimentalize and trivialize politics. They heighten the salience of Lifetime Television–style personal stories and gossip. They reduce candidates to personalities, lifestyles, and gonads. Some blue staters got behind Clinton because she was a woman; red staters want to vote for Palin because she’s a mom. Both positions are misguided. Multitasking your kids’ homework and dinner is nothing like weighing contradictory advice from your advisors for a decision that will change world history, and estrogen levels do not correlate with experience, judgment, and wisdom. In the long run, the blurring of celebrity and politics hurts everyone, women and men.”

Some of our teachers listen to npr on their way to work. I don’t listen, but from what they say, I am sick and tired of paying for that piece of crap with my tax money.

They list all of the talking points of daily kos. I guess I thought they might try and be a little more balanced.
We love the artic fox, but they believe all those things and think she’s a joke.
I also understand that one of our teachers had all the posters up for the dem convention in his room. So I imagine the kids were all told how wonderful the dems are. No balance, no information about the repub convention.

We really have to get a hold of our schools and know what is going on in them.

I think many people don’t realize there were two quotes there from two seperate articles. Regarding the first, like I said when it was in the Headlines section; This author is British so we care for her opinion, why? The second wasn’t all bad until the last paragraph. For me, the real positive I see in Palin is that she can be a successfull woman without having to be all activist about it. Simply because she’s a mom? Not so much, it’s just that she seems good at what she does.

Women who hate women. So it’s not feminism when your choice is birth versus abortion. It’s not feminism when you wear a skirt instead of a pantsuit. And of course, it’s not feminism if you’re more qualified, as potential VP, as your opponent’s camp’s Presidential hopeful!

Lefty Headlines from Bizarroland!

Here in the real world 8,000 U.S. troops are coming home from Iraq after having successfully turned the tide of a war that the Democrats gave up as lost.

Not in Lefty Bizarroland:
- MSNBC- Bush to keep troop levels in Iraq for ’08
- MSNBC Alternate- Troops won’t return on Bush’s watch

Nope. Now I’m going to be the feminist who comes in here and jacks you up a little. Read the Census data. This is not some talking point made up by the feminist camp. it is held up by numbers.

However, other numbers indicate that that will probably not be true in the near future since women, even in management, are about equal or above represented in work.

So, you know, you might want to think about who does what work for what pay. And, be nicer to your female counterparts or employees because, someday Pinky…

I find it amazing how feminists can generate an entire paragraph that says nothing at all.

Amazing, but not surprising.

Once again, the left views the right only as a caricature of their own creation. I really do try to give leftists the benefit of the doubt, but they always manage to prove their stereotype is spot on.

Seriously:

Still, whatever the appeal of red-state feminism, it should bring no comfort to anyone in favor of a more mature political culture. Red staters share with their blue-state counterparts a tendency to sentimentalize and trivialize politics. They heighten the salience of Lifetime Television–style personal stories and gossip. In the long run, the blurring of celebrity and politics hurts everyone, women and men.”

This is counterpointing assertions no one ever made and making assertions no one relates to. It is literally an entire paragraph that contains nothing of value. The uselessness is mind boggling. This woman should write a book entitled “How to use 131 words to communicate absolutely nothing: a primer on stretching pointlessness out to infinity.

A really weird SNL skit once Franken goes back. Tina Fey playing Palin, Garrett Morris (RIP) playing Michelle.

BacaDog on September 9, 2008 at 12:17 AM

I am new here so I am not quite sure how AP means this tidbit of info, but let me enlighten some of you, or him on this whole estrogen, female thingy deal.

For centuries this nation, like it or not, has been built on the backs of women. Women, who loved their husbands, endorsed their plans to go forth and fulfill their manifest destiny, and goals. But women also had responsibilities that went well beyond the love of their husbands; they had children to tend to, educate, and meals to prepare, cows to milk, fields to plough and homes to defend. We women have loved this country, and some women have served her with all they had; their sons and daughters. We have given our very children to this nation just to prove how much we believe in our nation, and our Founders ideologies for HER; the United States of America.

In keeping with the women of our past or our heritage, I would call your attention to one Elizabeth Annesley Lewis, wife of Francis Lewis. Mr. Lewis was one of the signers of our Declaration of Independence. While her husband was not at home, the Lewis home was fired upon by the British, and despite the pleas of her servants Elizabeth would not leave the home. Keep in mind the home was assaulted via land and water. Upon the invasion of her home, a British soldier tore the buckles off of her shoes. “All is not gold that glitters,” was her reply to the soldier. I will leave it to your imagination as to what happened to the Lewis home when the British soldiers rampaged the home. However, this time the British took Mrs. Lewis with them, and imprisoned her under circumstances more akin to a man, but this was a woman. A Negro man, and old family servant found out her location, and smuggled food and desperately needed warm clothing to Mrs. Lewis. The conditions Elizabeth were held under were so horrific that Congress took them up and were referred to the Board of War and then demands to treat Mrs. Lewis better were made. The British gave the international sign to General Washington, and this did not sit well with him. General Washington then sought the arrest of Mrs. Barren and Mrs. Kempe. Both were wives of prominent British types like Paymaster General and AG of PA. However, General Washington only confined these women to their homes and not jail like Mrs. Lewis. Finally Mrs. Lewis was released, but she was not allowed to leave New York. The new trouble to arise was the faithful family servant was severely ill and would not die without his last rites. There were no Catholic priest in New York at the time, and so Mrs. Lewis who was very ill, and still suffering from her imprisonment; well she found a way to send a message to Philadelphia in order for a priest to be smuggled through the British lines in order to perform last rites for her loving and dedicated servant.

I know, what the heck does this have to do with AP and women, estrogen, VP slots and American voters? For women of my age, 42, we have long been stuck between Mrs. Lewis, Phyliss Schafly, June Cleaver, and Gloria the Bra Burner. We however more identify with Elizabeth Lewis. We love our country and know very well where she stands, what she needs and what the heck is going on outside our borders.

We have had a voice, but no avenue to be heard other than amongst the traditional Conservative avenues. Imagine our voices being heard via the VP and throughout America! We love our husbands, defer to them, respect them, support them, but also have a need to achieve. The achieving comes sometimes in being a stay at home Mom homeschooler, but at one time ran a large Sports Medicine Clinic, and for others anything in between. We still managed to bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan and most of the time never let our husbands forget they were men; just to paraphrase I think an old “Charlie” commercial. Some of us have to work, and others have the ability to stay at home. For those of us who are like Mrs. Lewis and have supported our husbands no matter what the costs; we see in Mrs. Palin all those women who are US. We see a woman who knows what it is like to balance a state budget and a home budget, a family with a job or in her case, a state job. Governor Palin is like Michelle Malkin with strong Conservative views, and Governor Palin is also like Mrs. Malkin out there advocating with Melanie Morgan for our troops. I would be willing to bet Mrs. Malkin still went home, made major decisions, fed and loved her children, loved her husband and knows Russia has the veto vote in the UN Security Council! And as the two afore mentioned women, Mrs. Palin does inspire us to wear all those hats we have to wear on a daily basis along with Mrs. Malkin, Mrs. Morgan, and Mrs. Joe Smoe living in the middle of nowhere U.S.A. who is NOT cosmopolitan, but does know her son is serving in Iraq. You know that place Obama would not go, but Mrs. Palin did and sort of like those in Germany that Governor Palin went to see but Senator Obama did not because his ultra smart foreign knowing schmucks could not go with him while holding his hand.

Yes, I would trust just about any Conservative Mom to handle this country! Hormones and all. By the way, we are too freaking busy to watch Lifetime! And you know, I probably know more about foreign policy than Joe Biden! Note to people and AP, foreign policies impact our states and not just our borders and not just those breathing the purified air in Washington, D.C.! AP, Dude, you need to understand many women out here long ago turned off Lifetime and Oprah and any other afternoon soap and do read. We also have lectures available from all over via itunes for our ipods! I homeschool, and so my educating the “yutes”, (little Rushbo lingo), has also forced me on some levels, to keep up with what is going on out there and not just in my “small town”. I have traveled overseas in my lifetime twice. Once, before the wall fell in Germany and recently to Italy to see MY GIRLS win an international soccer tournament. By the way they also won a tournament playing for an all boys team too! First in history of the tournament and against boys that were 19 when the girls were 16! GIRL POWER!

See it is really not about burning our bras, whether or not our estrogen levels at 42 or 65 are out of whack, but it is about what is between our ears, what is in our hearts, and who is governing our soul. It is about whether or not we can answer to an authority higher than ourselves. I have seen many a man fail at that, and we are seeing THE ONE MANCHILD COMMUNITY ORGANIZER MARXIST do just that before our very eyes. His “flip” answer to when life begins suggests just that; he cannot submit before an authority of any kind! It is above his “pay grade” and somehow I think there are many things that Governor Palin will not find about her “pay grade”!

Ultimately, I do not blur the lines between estrogen levels and experience. I believe Mrs. Palin has experience. She certainly has more experience than many men that came before her in the VP slot. I look at her character and how he character has matched up to the women of equal or higher character that came before her. I also ask of her if she can lead. She is a down to earth American! We always lead! Check your history books AP! This nation was built via down to earth Americans like Elizabeth Lewis, and now Sarah Palin.

They have perfected the trick of stamping a feminine image on male power . . .

Bollocks. (Forgive my choice of epithet.) Sarah Palin ain’t stamping nothin’ on nobody except your narrow Gender Studies faculty a$$. Sarah Palin is a woman. She is a powerful woman. She is a powerful woman that thinks very differently than you do. That does not, however, disqualify her as a powerful woman. Tell me that field-dressing a moose is not powerful. Tell me that she is not a woman. You can’t.

In fact, I would go one better and say that most of your Gender Studies faculty, and their ilk, are the one’s who are in the “stamping” game (and I’m not talking about your hissy-fit type of stamping either). You all are the ones who have been trying to stamp a male image on a feminine frame–why is that not the very definition of a pants-suit–a male image stamped onto feminine power? And what is the result of this gender-bent crime against nature? Shrillness. All you Gender Studies-style “powerful women,” cannot get vehement without getting shrill. And where does that shrillness come from? The fact that you know that you know that you know that you are just a woman wearing a costume. That shrillness gives you away as a gender phony, just as sure as a big adam’s apple gives away a transvestite.

But Sarah Palin??? She has not one ounce of shrillness in her, because she has not one ounce of phony in her. Even when she is tearing up some bone-headed crap that the Obamensch has come out with, her voice does not rise and begin to sound the like the fingernails on the chalkboard. Her voice stays low, smooth, and strong. She never makes statements where the inflection rises at the end to make it sound like a question? Shoot honey, you wouldn’t know feminine power if it bit you in the a$$. Keep your eye on Sarah Palin, and you might learn something.

So don’t come over here with that “Sarah Palin isn’t a real feminist” crap. She is ripping the cover off of your con-game, and that’s why you all are running scared, and trying to destroy her. Too bad the crap that makes you run puking from auditoriums (like hearing that maybe there’s a genetic basis for the lack of women in Phd science programs) doesn’t raise even one of her eyebrows. You’re used to bullying people into submission, and you’ve met someone who won’t bully. Tough nuts, babe.

WisCon on September 9, 2008 at 12:34 AM

Kat_Mo on September 9, 2008 at 12:01 AM

Respectfully Kat, I disagree.

First, let me clearly state that I am all for equal pay for equal work, regardless of any considerations. Period.

Yes, there is a disparity in statistics. The workplace IS still slanted, and there is an extreme bias against women; as evidenced by the news media over the past year and especially the past week. Misogyny is, regrettably, alive and well.

My complaint is with groups like NOW, etc. who do not seek equality, but instead, a different measurement. Evidence of this is Hillary Clinton. Obama has arguably more experience than she does, at least in some measures… and that ain’t saying much. Hillary’s entire claim to anything is based on 4 factors:
1. She’s a senator- a race she would have lost in a landslide, had Rudy not dropped out. Since she was elected she’s pretty much named Post Offices. Hurray.
2. She was married to a President. Okay fine… let her run against Laura Bush. Both were 1st Ladies of states and the nation for roughly equal time.
3. She ran for president… one of the most pathetic campaigns in election history, which she bankrupted to the tune of over $20 million. Yup, there’s someone I want to put in charge of the economy. Obama’s got a better claim to experience by that standard… which again, isn’t saying much.
4. 18 million votes- which brings me back to my point. Why would 18 million people vote for 2 of the least qualified presidential candidates in US history?

Answer: gender and race. Everyone on the Dem. primary ticket was eminently more qualified than Hillary and Obama combined, yet no one voted for any of them (or at least not in remotely significant numbers)

That is the problem. People are so desperate for things to be racially/ gender ‘fair’ that they have abandoned reason and standards.

Dallas Morning News Editorial — September 8
FAIR’s Lobby week will include the “Feet to the Fire” radio blitz

Obama, McCain avoid immigration reform
Mr. McCain, trying hard not to offend his conservative base, says he would not vote for the comprehensive immigration reform bill that he himself introduced in the Senate. Mr. Obama has committed only to deal with illegal immigration sometime before the end of his first term. Instead of debating solutions before the voting public, they are punting this as far down the road – and away from the elections – as they can. [...]
If the presidential candidates are foolish enough to think illegal immigration isn’t on voters’ minds, they’d better think again. State and local lawmakers recognize voters’ outrage. They’re acting because lawmakers neither see “change we can believe in” nor “maverick courage” when it comes to progress on comprehensive immigration reform.

ManlyRash on September 9, 2008 at 12:43 AM

From Wikipedia, this is a description of Sarah Palin’s feminine role model. The NYT and libs have used it against her, and people might laugh, but even non-Christians get to enjoy the benefits. All the downside potential of her Christian faith has been shown to be nonsense so far. She’s all upside potential.

“Esther appears in the Bible as a woman of deep faith, courage and patriotism, ultimately willing to risk her life for her adoptive father, Mordecai, and the Jewish people. Scripture portrays her as a woman raised up as an instrument in the hand of God to avert the destruction of the Jewish people, and to afford them protection and forward their wealth and peace in their captivity.”

FAIR’s Lobby week will include the “Feet to the Fire” radio blitz – DfDeportation on September 9, 2008 at 12:40 AM

Over 40+ radio talk shows will be broadcasting from the Capital this week covering the entire country.

John and Sarah would be wise to address the “Illegal Immigration” issue front and center and not hide behind political speak, aka “Immigration Reform”.

It has never been about “Immigration”, it has always been about “Illegal Immigration” and the lack of our Federal Government to enforce current laws.

This could be one issue that could take the “Bloom Off the Rose”…………

Whereas the City girl kinda gets it, but really doesn’t.

The city girl comparisons of the Hill and our One are spot on, but the last paragraph is such a slap after kissing Palin. The British chick is venomous to the point of hysteria hilarity. I’ll bet her closet is nothing but pant suits.

I would love to see this issue get dealt with and some part of me thinks that McCain would actually do it from behind the Resolute Desk.

But, sheesh… this is a bigger hornets nest than Social Security. Both parties fear this political 3rd rail.

Everyone talk about illegal Mexicans crossing the boarder, but the bigger problem is the whole guest worker/ H-1B program. I was involved with some projects were THOUSANDS of H1-Bs were making in excess of $75-100/ hour for IT work, yet we graduate TONS of IT people in the US each year. Conversely, we have a shortage of medical personnel, but all the H1B slots are taken up with IT people.

The boarder is easy compared to that, but you can’t do something comprehensive there until you deal with all the H1-B people… who never actually have to leave due to loopholes.

BacaDog on September 9, 2008 at 1:02 AM

That is the problem. People are so desperate for things to be racially/ gender ‘fair’ that they have abandoned reason and standards.

Well, let’s not try to flush the real issue down the toilet because the messenger sucks raw eggs.

However, I will tell you something of a shocker…I believe very much that, if we don’t like the pay we can change jobs or start our own businesses, which women do.

I simply believe that you all should be aware that it is a real issue among real women who have to help support their families or are the sole supporter. And, as I said, we will out number men in the work force, particularly in management positions, very soon. We live longer, for one and the population is aging for another and we are 50% of everything. Not to mention, Palin may become VP and then off to the presidential elections soon.

So, I’m not worried about it as a continuing long term problem. ;)

Lived in the Philly/western NJ area for 10 years. Moved back to MO for the same reason. That, and where I lived, nobody had a drive way and the yards were postage stamp sized at best. Old houses were charming, but I couldn’t touch them.

Kat_Mo

I’m right there with ya on all fronts. On the business side, I’ve worked for, been shown up by, hired, promoted and otherwise worked with too many women to doubt your gender in the least. There are women who use their gender as an excuse and a crutch, but the same can be said for folks regardless of genitalia or any other consideration.

To tell the truth, watching the RNC last Wed. had me weeping like a fool… and I am one that you could shoot me in the gut and take away my birthday without crying.

There was a discussion here last week where someone asked if anyone though Palin would have been selected if she were not a woman. My answer’s been the same since before she got picked- hell yeah. She’s the kind of person we need in Washington because of who she is and what she’s done. Part of that is being a woman, but that part just puts her over the top.

I think it all comes down to guilt.

These liberals are the abortionists, promoters of abortion rights, victims of the lies that have lead them to actually have abortions or push someone else to…Sarah, with her five kids in tow and a grandbaby on the way forces them to face the reality of their ‘choices’. All of their arguments are smashed by this woman who not only accepted the responsibilities of having children, she glories in it. One of the ‘reasons’ for aborting children is fetal deformity or imperfection. Sarah adds insult to injury by forcing them to look at the life that they deemed worthless and showing them how blessed she is to be given such a gift.

Pro abortionists will argue to the end that abortion has no adverse affects, but everyone knows that is just another of their lies. Why else would Silent no More and Rachel’s Vinyard programs keep growing. As many babies that have been killed in this country, you can count on there being massive guilt.

Sarah makes them feel it and they hate her for it.

The libs hate Palin, in fact they’re scared to death of her. She’s the fly in their ointment, the mosquito buzzing around their head, the pain that just won’t go away. She respresents absolutely everything they hate. Thats why, even if the Obama campaign operatives tell them to cool it, they just won’t be able to stop. Their hate will become more irrational, their invective more rabid and strident by the day. They will end up losing everything they’v worked for. I think Princess Leia said it best. “The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.”

From the comments section of the Seattle PI article:

“The sad thing is that the Republicans will likely win. Why? Most are willing to do ANYTHING to win. They will lie, cheat, steal, redraw districts and lie again. The McCain from 2000 would be ashamed of the McCain today. As low as they sometimes might be, most Democrats do have some standards. Obama will not get as down and dirty as McCain is willing to. So he probably loses. And we get the angry old man and his spokesmodel caretaker with their finger on the button, bringing the ultra-right-wingers what they really want…Armageddon.

Django on September 9, 2008 at 4:13 AM

I’m a female who is very glad that I bypassed the whole “liberation” moment. I just worked very hard in life and tried to take care of myself and answer questions and do my work to the best of my knowledge, and, when I didn’t know the answers and couldn’t do, then I tried to go find out what I needed to know to move forward.

I missed out having children though I always wanted them and through no fault or cause of my own. I ended up divorced but it was a case of survival and necessity, not a case of not wanting to protect, defend and continue being married. Sometimes life is something that’s lived day-to-day and you can’t see on one day what the next one’s going to require inorder to, in the most severe situations, continue breathing and keep your wits about you.

I’ve never found this whole “women’s liberation” mantra stuff appealing and the reason why is because I have rarely known so much as one female (or male Liberal otherwise) who was trustworthy when the chips were down, or, worse, who hasn’t or wouldn’t destroy another female especially when their own wants was rocked around a bit or there was some perception of that happening. I’ve known more than a few truly brutal persons in my life and they were all female and most of their brutality is in the realm of spreading lies and hateful gossip (is there any other kind) about their perceived rivals.

I know my story is not isolated, I’ve read many stories from other females who have had similar stories of survival among the “clawing kind” in all of our midst. What happens is these stories by these “liberated women” destory other human beings, gender aside. Their INTENT is destructive, in other words, so of course they’re not reliable on smaller issues and concerns — they’ll always be the person who fooled you well and you found out years later was responsible for inflicting great ruin on someone else’s character.

Liberals, especially females, don’t need “liberating,” they need maturity and character. I’ve never met so many indecent individuals as I have read from in the last few days as to Liberals (who are also females) who are ranting about Sarah Palin’s whatevers — meaning, they’re just striking out at anything their claws can click into or try to.

The pitiful stuff I’ve read about Sarah Palin — here’s a woman who’s lived a great life and continues to, enjoys a wonderful family and continues to, lives in a beautiful, genuinely good community and continues to, speaks her mind, is well mannered and outspoken, does a great job with responsibilities before her and appears to be someone who goes out and finds more responsibilities moreoftenthan not (mark of intelligence, courage, willingness, curiosity, all things good)…and she’s somehow NOT acceptable to Liberals?

All the Liberals ever seem to do is generate baseless, negative gossip (is there any other kind) and fret their lives away by insulting anyone who isn’t doing any of that. Sarah Palin is someone everyone can admire and should. That she mirrors my values and beliefs is just icing on the character cake.

What’d I just write (previous comments here)? There’s proof of what I was just writing about, as also my own experiences have proven out to be true and predictable (in other words, survive that sort of garbage long enough, you start to anticipate it and from exactly the same source over and over again).

Just because Conservatives are not writing about (author of that screed that you quoted), that she’s eating her neighbors children while cooking up pets in the microwave for special sauces, I mean, what ELSE can anyone come up with to denigrate a political opponent? The Left has no mind to lose, it’s desperate and, well, spitting.

Equating Sarah Palin and beliefs with “Hezbollah” is a desperate statement for a crazy person (female or not, still crazy) to even suggest.

“But central to Palin’s red-state appeal is her earthy embrace of motherhood. She differs from mainstream feminists in that her sexuality and fecundity are not in tension with her achievement and power. If anything, they rise out of them. Instead of holding her back, her five children embody her energy, competence, authority, and optimism.

S on September 9, 2008 at 4:39 AM

. She kinda joked around when answering, which was fine – but she was also sticking out her tongue and biting it (!). It made her look very silly…
fiatboomer on September 8, 2008 at 10:49 PM

All of us have done “silly looking things” when we’re younger and particularly when you’re from more rural areas where “socieity” isn’t so ironclad and damaging to people being silly, especially when they’re younger.

I’m sure Palin’s learned a lot with age and experience. No one seems to have ever told John Kerry as much, however, the guy who routinely sticks his tongue out when speaking before the entire nation. And Obama, who makes those weird handmovements like popping his middle finger up aside his face when allegedly “listening.”

I agree that body language is telling (and I pay a lot of attention to body language) but in Palin’s case, that expression you described seems to have been mostly one limited to her younger years and was an expression of general “challenge” (otherwise called “naughtiness” in a cute way).

She is an anecdote to the insipid, obnoxious, vacuous, arrogant, and just plain snobbish attitude that permeates so much of the self styled movers and shakers. I say screw ‘em. If the woman is a such a dumbass, what the hell are they afraid of?

Terrye on September 9, 2008 at 7:00 AM

I really love it when the left wingers pull crap like this. An integral part of their elitism is the sense that Americans are too stupid to see through them. Admittedly, some people actually are that dumb. After all, they have some following. But also inherent in their message is a prison of ideology.

The left does not allow you to have a view that differs from their vision. To these “blue-state feminists” either you toe-the-line or you are not one of them. No dissent is allowed.

Americans that fall for this kind of divisionist politics are the worst type of lemmings. They cannot stand to be ostracized by those keepers of great wisdom. So they dutifully follow along. Because no dissent is allowed.

Meanwhile they completely miss the fact that they have sacrificed all sense of individualism and moral authority to their chosen leaders. After all, no dissent is allowed.

One of the reasons we love Sarah Palin is because she has told them she will dissent! She has told this ragtag bunch of 1960′s time-warp shrews that she is free and to hell with them!

After watching the response to Palin I am just not going to believe that most Americans are dumb enough to buy the garbage the left is feeding us. Americans are incredibly savvy about media image and a manufactured persona. No other populace is bombarded with the level of sophisticated propaganda that Americans are. We can smell a phoney a mile away and they know Palin is the real thing. That is why America lovers her.

Seriously, after a week of this, I have concluded that the thing that has really driven the Left nuts here is not that Sarah Palin is a woman, or a conservative woman, or a bad mother, or any of that, it’s that she is new and shiny and now Barack Obama is no more the new and shiny thing in this election. She stole his thunder and they are pissed. There are mre women who identify with her than there are blacks and guilty white liberals who identify with Obama. That, and she is forcing them to see just how shallow Obama is as a potential president.

Women come in all shapes, sizes, and political views, just like men. Some women will identify with Sarah Palin and some won’t. I don’t think it is productive just to hurl invective at women who do not like Sarah Palin. I think she’s awesome, I don’t think she is very qualified to be President, but I’m glad about the conversation she has started.

I always thought the first woman president would be a Republican, simply because conservative women rise or fall on their own merits and generally do not hide behind their gender when the going gets tough or ride the backs of their husbands to get to the top. Americans always prefer the person who has gotten there on his or her merit.

This is why most women don’t identify with or associate themselves with feminists. We know tht our jobs are tough, and require skill & organization. We see other women adapt to the workplace, or traditionally male roles, much easier than most men could adapt to staying home & managing a household. I have always known that I’m just as smart, and just as capable as a man. Maybe in different ways, but there are differences among women, just as there are differences between men & women. And I don’t feel the need to give up my femininity to compete with either men or women. Unfortunately, feminists only recognize greatness in other females who eschew any little scrap of femininity. Juggling the demands of motherhood, & marriage, while perfoming equally well at “manly duties”, and still managing to look good doing it, is truly an accomplishment & should be applauded, but the feminists mock it.

BeachBaby on September 9, 2008 at 8:59 AM

But, but, isn’t this good b/c it starts a dialogue? It gets women and men talking about gender roles in society and what is a woman’s place and where it all fits in w/family and politics, right? Right?

Where’s that stupid leftard argument now?
