I would like to see an ad that is highlights from Obama's I-hate-America Berlin speech. Then end it with McCain shaking his head in disgust. If there is anything Americans hate, it is I-hate-America, Carter-esque speech.

I am on the fence on this, but I've noticed how Obama is now aiming for Palin rather than McCain -- saying that she's more like Bush than McCain is. There should be some ad trying to paint Obama as a coward for feeling the need to go after the No. 2 rather than the top dog.

was that McCain’s first ad w/a woman’s voice used as the speaker?…hmmm…am going to have to do some research…

ocbrat on September 7, 2008 at 12:37 PM

Nah, the same voice talent has been used before.

I wish they would do better with the "higher taxes" thing. To the casual observer, it's easily dismissed or discarded since Obama promised lower taxes to 95% of people. Yeah, I know it's a farce, but the average person does not. The slightly better than average goes to any fact check site or media outlet and hears them call it false.

Go after taxes, by all means, but they need to define the argument.

Something on the order of:

"Obama want's to send you $1000 by taxing it out of your paycheck, cutting back your job or shipping your company overseas."

"What would you rather have? A job or a regular paycheck"

Here's a thought:

Do Obama's "devoted followers" know they follow not a leader but simply a "devoted follower of other leaders?" Tell em about it. Wake them from the trance.

Seriously. The next 60 days is literally about deprogramming a small portion of Obama cult members. You can tell with the reaction to Palin that they are still loyal to the cult and will blindly lash out at outsiders who threaten the to upstage or expose the leader.

Someone tell Schmidt to study cult deprogramming and hire a smart deprogrammer and the GOP can win the election using that understanding. Get one that knows the election and can backtrack the Obama message to see where they got sold on the cult and carefully unhook their brains to where they don't close ranks and resist to the death.

Schmidt is doing well but they aren't morphing the message here quick enough to bring people along to the new concerned thoughts about Obama they want to be told more about. Take them on a journey of discovery about Barack's vacant record now. Gov Palin was taking voters there and Schmidt he needs to back up what she said about Obama's non-leadership compared to her maverickness.

So I agree the end message needs change now to contrast with the Palin smears. Maybe... "Not ready to lead...because he has never led."

Then later maybe... "McCain/Palin: Mavericks...Leaders" "Obama/Biden: Stale Liberal Idea Followers"

Team McCain needs a parallel theme to this, because while this spot is effective, it may be a little too subtle.

Spot on, ED.
How often do we see those sidewalk interviews where no one can even point to the picture of the VEEP?
This ad shows all the far left Dems, but half of America doesn't know who they are.
.
SPECIFICS, Team McCain.

I think the attack on the word “Liberal” is a mistake. People like to think they are liberal. Conservatives like to think they are the true liberals in the sophisticated European sense that implies being for freedom. The word implies a generosity of spirit that it is dangerous to run against. Obama is not a Liberal. He and his backers are Leftists, Extremists, even Totalitarians but not Liberals.

The McCain campaign would be well served if they made a big public display of “reclaiming an honorable word” from the Democrats. Republicans should start focusing attacks on Obama and the “Left Wing Extremists.”

That, too.

The set up for the add is good, though.

Well Alaska is next to Russia. - crr6 on September 7, 2008 at 11:07 AM

Closer to Russia, I believe, than Cuba is to Florida.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

As C-in-C of the Alaska National Guard, she traveled to Kuwait to check on Alaska’s troops deployed in the war zone shortly after her election and involved herself in planning for their well-being.

Governor Palin, at the request of Governor Jindal, sent the Alaska Air National Guard’s 176th Wing with a C-17, and two Pavehawk search and rescue helicopters, with crews and support, to Louisiana. No waiting for permission, nor saying “it’s above my pay grade,” no “orders” from the Pentagon or FEMA or the White House.

Oh, and she also negotiated with Canada for the construction of the pipeline that Joe Biden voted against 30 years ago.

On all these issues, she has way more experience than either Biden or Obama.

FOXNEWSSUNDAY

Juan Williams is the rude chiquaqua allowed to bark and snap without rein. NO ONE interrupts Juan's time share, yet everyone allows Juan to interrupt their own.

Chris Wallace bends over backwards to overcompensate leaving conservatives shy on the "fair and balanced" scale of time and pressure applied on the show. PC cuts both ways in ratings. FOX obviously is set to err on the side of caution at all times by overcompensation, taxing the loyal audience to empower the opposition.

If George Stephanopoulos were to reschedule his hour to follow FNS, then ABC would enjoy the audience both from Fox and from the late Tim Russert. That would be the final nail in the NBC news coffin. Plus, I'd have my cake and eat it too.

I think the attack on the word "Liberal" is a mistake.

The McCain campaign would be well served if they made a big public display of "reclaiming an honorable word" from the Democrats. Republicans should start focusing attacks on Obama and the "Left Wing Extremists."

Although, on-screen names would be nice. I don't know all of those politicians by face, but I may recognize their names.
