Chris Muir has delighted conservatives and independent thinkers for years with his cartoon Day by Day.  He brings a fresh spirit and a sharp wit to political and social commentary, and provides it for free to his readers.  Chris relies on support from his fans to keep the adventures of Zed, Sam, Jan, and Damon going.

Here are a couple of examples from this week alone:

If you enjoy Chris’ efforts, consider donating to the cause!

Slick Willy escapes again!

Mr_Magoo on September 5, 2008 at 5:33 PM

I don’t get it.

Darth Executor on September 5, 2008 at 5:33 PM

It’s funny without being humourous

LimeyGeek on September 5, 2008 at 5:36 PM

I saw a story online the other day that said Murdoch was thinking about buying the New York Times. I laughed out loud, I am sure folks at work thought I was nuts.

Cindy Munford on September 5, 2008 at 5:41 PM

Donated via SDA last week. My day ain’t complete without a DBD strip.

Jim708 on September 5, 2008 at 5:43 PM

DBD is one of the funniest cartoons EVAH. I have them on my blog too.

Please support Chris!

originalpechanga on September 5, 2008 at 5:43 PM

I assume you are all men… Palin empowers women… especially ones with more than one child. Hillary is yesterday’s news…. And Bill always gets off scott free.

I think.

petunia on September 5, 2008 at 5:43 PM

Actually, I’m not sure about the NYTs connection in all that. So someone else?

petunia on September 5, 2008 at 5:45 PM

My favourite recent strip was the Ginger Rogers reference. Classic!

Jim708 on September 5, 2008 at 5:46 PM

I made a donation Tuesday. Chris is by far my favorite cartoonist. I go back and read the entire series from the front every once in a while, just to see some of the panels again.

ArkCon on September 5, 2008 at 5:46 PM

Neither one was really funny.

polarbear1876 on September 5, 2008 at 5:47 PM

Holy crap people! It isn’t about those two strips!

Jim708 on September 5, 2008 at 5:49 PM

It’s humour men, but not as we know it.

LimeyGeek on September 5, 2008 at 5:49 PM

It will be interesting to see how doonesbury spins this.

Kini on September 5, 2008 at 5:54 PM

Well, it’s political humor, so laughing is optional. Not funny like you know, Peanuts or umm, Garfield, which always make you ROTFLMAO.

kirkill on September 5, 2008 at 5:54 PM

It’s like Doonesbury.. but funny

DaveC on September 5, 2008 at 6:02 PM

LimeyGeek on September 5, 2008 at 5:49 PM

It’s worse than that he’s CONSERVATIVE, Jim!

Sakaki on September 5, 2008 at 6:14 PM

I assume you are all men… Palin empowers women… especially ones with more than one child. Hillary is yesterday’s news…. And Bill always gets off scott free.

How, exactly does Palin “empower” women? Unless women need to be running for high political office to be empowered, it seems to me the bar is far lower and candidates like Palin reflect the upper limits of that “empowerment.”

highhopes on September 5, 2008 at 6:34 PM

I laughed my ass off at:

“Not really.”

So tragic, so true, so Slick.

Jason Coleman on September 5, 2008 at 6:39 PM

It’s funny because it’s true.

SouthernGent on September 5, 2008 at 7:04 PM

Got to help him out. After all he did a story strip based on my blog story a few years back about the story of my cousin, Major Gregory Stone, who was murdered in Kuwait by Sargent Akbar in that well known tent grenade attack that killed two officers days before the Iraq war.

Kokonut on September 5, 2008 at 7:21 PM

DBD used to be featured on the old Captain’s Quarters site. Why can’t that happen here?

Skull on September 5, 2008 at 7:31 PM

Been meaning to donate; thanks for the reminder. They are usually pretty funny.

But even if I don’t always get the references, the women are really hot. :)

dinobalz on September 5, 2008 at 7:45 PM

I like Doonesbury–I miss Mr. Butts.

m064404 on September 5, 2008 at 7:51 PM

OK, I admit it; I’m a Luddite. I don’t use electronic funds transfers; if I can’t use cash or money order, I don’t need it.

On the other hand, I’d be happy to donate to Chris. I’ve been enjoying Day By Day for a long time, and I wouldn’t mind throwing a few skins his way.

Anybody got a valid mailing address, or link to same? If you prefer, use the email in the profile.

Rusty Bill on September 5, 2008 at 8:08 PM

you guys should get a daily cartoon… that would be sweet…

Kaptain Amerika on September 5, 2008 at 8:27 PM

I wish you guys would add him to Hot Air as a regular feature. I used to catch the strip every day at Captain’s Quarters. When you moved, I moved with you and now I rarely see Day by Day.

Of course it’s up to you all what if anything gets worked out. But I’d love to see it here regularly fwiw.

DaMav on September 5, 2008 at 9:52 PM

um, actually, they’re very funny, and insightful, but you need to follow along for a few days to understand.

JudetheFossil on September 5, 2008 at 11:12 PM

The last frame of the second strip is pretty good, but otherwise not very clever or well-drawn. I am sort of a cartoon snob, though.

Andrew D on September 6, 2008 at 1:03 AM

i love dbd; love how chris has basically re-written the book for the daily political strip. questino tho — when i try and pay via the amazon route [i despise paypal] it appears to send me to a phishing site [graphics look suspect, etc.]. has anyone else experienced this? can we get a ruling from chris if only to calm jangled nerves? thx. …

Buckaroo on September 6, 2008 at 3:14 AM

Chris Muir and DBD is the best. Not to mention the, uh, finer qualities of Sam and Jan. Can one propose to cartoon characters?

Halley on September 6, 2008 at 3:23 AM

These suck, sorry.

Levinite on September 6, 2008 at 4:05 AM

Where was Hot Air when Cox & Forkum bit the dust? They actually had talent and were amusing.

Levinite on September 6, 2008 at 4:07 AM

C&F were objectivists. Chris is a conservative.

/and if i have to explain the difference we’re already in trouble …

//and if i have to point out c&f VOLUNTARILY retired to move onto other projects, we’re even worse off …

Buckaroo on September 6, 2008 at 4:35 AM

” Can one propose to cartoon characters?”

go ahead and try, but zed & damon will just shoot yer ass ..

For those of you saying “it ain’t funny” I’d suggest several things:

1) you don’t understand the dry humor of the three panel strip
2) big words scare you
3) I know funny, and you don’t know funny

Thanks for your time and, as always, your mileage may vary.

Warner Todd Huston on September 6, 2008 at 7:29 AM

it is an acquired taste, yes. no reason to bash it
