I was going to save it for morning but it’s simply too sweet. Listen for the cheers at the beginning as the crowd recognizes the track. Exit question: When do the Wilson sisters file the copyright suit? Tomorrow or next week?
Update: Correct answer: Tonight!

Artists rarely have control over their songs. The RNC or McCain campaign could lease the songs from the record company and the artists are free to whine and cry…while the royalties start coming in again for the first time in twenty years.
(Levin impression)”That’s right! I said it! They are making money off of their complaining! They ARE Democrats, after all.”

Don’t you mean leaving the job or RE-WRITING the constitution to fit your pathetic religious views? That’s what you fetus/jeebus freaks really want to do; deprive the rights of others by subjugation and indoctrination. Because if you mean just enforcing the original document, then you’d better find another party buddy because the GOP and Co. have long abandoned its basic principles and intentions.

Sniff…Sniff… Did somebody step in something or is that troll I smell?

Umm, the ladies lack business acumen. If they had allowed the song to be played without complaining, they might have sold many more copies of their song to Palin fans. RDS/MDS/PDS trumps all for some.

I like the way you think, Vincenzo, I really like the way you think (includes your previous suggestions).

Speaking of Nickelback’s video (”Rockstar”), I saw Ted Nugent yesterday on Glenn Beck’s show — Beck asked Nugent what should we do now (as to Conservatives, where/how do we vote, proceed from here).
Nugent said after a very brief pause, rather, exclaimed (think: Ted Nugent speaking an opinion) “well, we should vote for McCain” “and then stay on his ass…stay on (all politicians’) asses…” about issues (I’ll now paraphrase), just keep on them and call them all the time and ask (Nugent stage-demanding tone of voice), ‘what’s going on with (this/that)?!’
Nugent, continuing, said “we’ve been calling ‘em up and asking (think: timid non-Ted Nugent voice here), “uhh, hhullo, do you think you could tell me what’s going on with….” and the politician responds (think: Ted Nugent imitating paper-pushing office executive voice here), “can I get back to you…”
Nugent (I’m now summarizing Nugent) said to vote for McCain and get going wiht the pressure on all elected officials and to stop being timid with our requests for information and to remain informed.
Beck asked him about the alternative votes, like for Barr. And Nugent admitted Barr was a good friend, “but…” Nugent’s no idiot, nor no fool and has a keen mind for just getting things done. Was an excellent show by Glenn Beck, by the way, and comments also excellent by Nugent.

I agree that that performance of “Barracuda” by Gretchen Wilson is just AWESOME, as also the whole band (includes Nancy Wilson, by the way, on one of the lead guitars).
Better, in fact, than the original and the original was great.
About the whole issue of HEART and their attitude about “Barracuda” being played at the GOP Convention, it’s a tiny, small and just stupid tact for them to take. They seem to forget that the Liberal side of folks have not been too kind to HEART through the years.
And they’re allowing their work to be limited to promoting goods in television commercials instead. Stupid.

Actually, that’s not entirely true. There are a lot of Conservative and/or pro-GOP artists among musicians, especially in the Country and Western genre, but also some in Rock.
The situation today is that people are harmed economically and via creepy gossip by the Left when/if/as they become too public as being associated with “Republicans”. That’s also true in all of the arts — film, television, publising most especially (well, actually, most especially film, television AND publishing). The Left will literally try to ensure if not ensure that certain ‘artists never work again’ and their calls stop being returned, people cancel social meets with them, etc., and over time, the career (and livlihood) starts to suffer.
This is a key method as to how entertainment “works” as an industry: by making it nearly impossible for anyone to earn a living IF they ever vary outside the demands of service (service to the shared politic of the Left).
It’s also why you see so many oftentimes hapless entertainers and other artists making these “charity” circuits (photos, media appearances, promotions for, etc.) because they rather corraled into associating with the groups and awards meets that are also opinion-vehicles FOR the Left politic. It gets the entertainer/artist publicity, gets them circulated with the “Left” opinion-shapers and they then get work. Without those associations, they get ignored UNLESS they’ve ALREADY made a very big series of hits.
A group like HEART, however, has been out of the loop for a long time now and could use this fresh publicity and boost (any publicity and any boost) and Cameron Crowe’s last films bombed by box office standards (Crowe’s married to one of the Wilson sisters), so, I don’t know, but hanging out with the likes of Sean Penn at the Democratic Convention doesn’t seem like a sensible, self-aware thing to do UNLESS there’s no concern for the career.

First of all I would like to say that I am in fact an agnostic. My “pathetic religious views” amount to: heck if I know. Second, I don’t need a God to tell me an unborn child is in fact a human being, science tells me that. The Dec. of Independence says that you are “endowed by your creator with the right to life” while leftists abandon that idea in favor of a right for one individual to choose for another who gets to live and who doesn’t. Also, I was referring to conservative views not the GOP which is becoming less conservative and more liberal every day. It is true that the Republican party is the home of conservatives, but it only amounts to one faction of the party with very little power. As proof I offer you George W Bush and John S McCain, hardly true conservatives but rather partial conservatives at best. Conservatives stand with the Constitution, Property rights for property owners instead of frogs and rats, the right to keep what you earn and not be forced to pay for every other American and half of Mexico’s health care costs. The right to practice religion peacefully, the right to own firearms for protection. These principals are what loudmouth liberals seem to want to erase from the document along with that pesky part about the electoral college. Let’s not forget their clear hatred for freedom speech with their “hate speech laws” and their “fairness doctrines’ to eliminate speech which they happen to disagree with. Their utopian promises of creating an anti-constitutional system of socialism which promises to take from the rich to give to the poor in the name of “fairness”. They want the US Constitution to say “promote the common defense and provide for the general welfare” and not the other way around. Talk about a desire to re-write the Constitution. I ask you to take a lesson from history, when a self described “agent of change” stood up on Mar 1, 1927 and said “”We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions.” These are the words that come from the lips of loudmouth leftists everyday in America but the guy who said them in 1927 was named was Adolf Hitler.

I would think that the Wilsons would be please that someone is actually playing their music at this point in time.
gstrickler on September 6, 2008 at 5:23 PM
I don’t know if it’s already been posted but over at Ace of Spades they say that two of the songs other co-writers(Roger Fisher and some other guy) have called into a Seattle radio station to say they support RNC use of the song. The Wilson sisters may not have the final say in this.

My apologies…most of the empty suits on this site equate the GOP with conservatism and applaud the force-feeding of chrisitian doctrine down the throats of all Americans. What they forget about our Consitution is that we have freedom FROM religion as well. I would no more trust these wetheads with the care and feeding of our Constitution than I would Dick Cheney with a loaded gun. BTW, I’m no Socialist either and I would not entrust said care to the other side of the aisle.

You mean like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution? You need to buy a vowel.

Mojave Mark on September 6, 2008 at 9:23 PM
Actually, you mean SELL a vowel as there were more vowels, not less in the word…not that it matters. You know the difference between more and less, don’t you? For example, you have MORE faith in a make-believe, guilt-laden cult because you had LESS formal education in your early years to teach you that blind faith in a religion cooked up and controlled by greedy men is for suckers.
DanKenton on September 6, 2008 at 10:05 PM
I accept your apology but I would like to point out that it was you who equated the GOP with conservatism. I said “leave it to conservatives,” it was you who brought up the GOP. As for being force fed Christian doctrine, I can honestly tell you that as an agnostic I have never experienced this. I am a free thinker, I don’t think anyone could peacefully force their religious views upon me without my help. I see no threat from people who talk to, worship, or pray to something I’m not even sure exists. I personally have no problems with Christians at all, I find most to be very nice people who respect my religious rights as I do theirs. I hope we can agree that the biggest threat to religious freedom in this world comes from Islam rather than Christians.

Has-beens are people too : )
The GOP should respect Heart’s feelings on this and let them go back into the ether like a fart.
Nastaran on September 7, 2008 at 11:39 AM
Ah, kick them some cash and let people scream ‘Baracuda!’ at Townhall meetings. Jeeesh.
They wanted to be asked for permission, but wouldn’t have granted it anyway, (I wonder why). I used to like the Wilson sisters, until 10 minutes ago…maroons! Apparently you have to be a Demo to be allowed to use that song.
Gee, I recall that MMoore didn’t ask for permission to use Ray Bradbury’s ‘Fahrenheit 451′ book title; there was never even an apology. But that’s…ok, (in the world of lefty maroons).
Christine on September 7, 2008 at 12:08 PM
We can begin to NEVER AGAIN BUY THEIR MUSIC!! Ever. How about!

Maybe Palin’s song should be “The Girl Can’t Help It”. Except that she can, and already has :p
