Another Palin smear bites the dust

Nutcase bloggers will have to find another smear against Sarah Palin … again. Did you hear that Todd Palin’s former business partner tried to get his divorce records sealed? Conspiracy theorists immediately began speculating on line that Sarah Palin — that vixen! — must have had an affair and broken up the marriage. Why else would the partner suddenly act to seal his records?
As the Smoking Gun discovered, Scott Richter wanted them sealed — to protect himself from conspiracy theorists (h/t: William Amos):
So when the blogosphere discovered today (via an online court docket) that Scott Richter, a Palin associate, personally filed a sealing motion in Alaska Superior Court, well, conclusions were jumped to. Was Sarah Palin named as the other woman in a messy divorce action? Well, since Richter’s September 3 motion, a copy of which you’ll find below, was denied yesterday, his divorce filings remain open to the public. And a TSG review of the 98-page file shows that the Palins are only mentioned in Richter’s sealing request.
According to the filing, Richter wanted the documents deemed confidential in a bid to cloak details about his home, workplace, and phone numbers because “reporters and news agencies” were using that information to contact him. Richter, a 39-year-old contractor, noted that he is “friends and land owners in a remote cabin” with the Palins and, as a result, journalists were intruding on the “cabin life and private life” of him and his 11-year-old son.
Isn’t that an extra dollop of irony? Mr. Richter wants to protect his son from lunatics. What happens? The lunatics use that as “evidence” that Palin had an affair with Richter and descend on him to get the dirt.
The desperation of Obama supporters keeps becoming ever more clear. We’ve now had them smear Palin and her daughter as sluts, notably Conan O’Brien and his crude “crease” reference on his show last night. Palin’s mothering quality has also been slandered, and her decision to have a successful career derided by those who would normally sneer at stay-at-home moms.
Keep it up — please. Keep informing the public that women have to stay on the ideological reservation or they have to stay in the kitchen, and that they’re not really free to have their own minds. Keep punishing those who express their own opinions and defy the media with despicable slurs and innuendo and by all means keep attacking their children. None of that will have any effect on Palin’s credibility — but it will strip her critics of theirs.
Update: Charles Martin at Explorations has the list of debunked slurs and innuendo, and it’s getting pretty lengthy. Coming up next: Sarah Palin is an extraterrestrial looking to infiltrate human society! Where’s the Weekly World News when you need it?
Update II: Just spitballing here, but what stereotypes of naughty women have the media and the lunatics missed? So far, they’ve made her out to be a slut, a b***h, a beauty-queen airhead, and an unfit mother. She’s obviously not frigid, so that smear won’t work. How many other demeaning gender-based slurs can they throw her way?

You people are really whining about jokes on late night talk shows now? I mean imagine, a guy who regularly hosts a character named “The Masturbating Bear” told a crude joke? I think I might faint!
Typhonsentra on September 6, 2008 at 12:34 AM
For the love of pete. That is a joke is it not?
Face the press? The press did a blitz on her 17 year old daughter and 4 month old son.
Catch that alphie? Your side is so pathetic that a 4 month old child is in the cross hairs. “Duh 1″ has two chidren, and the last time I checked, NEITHER of them has been subject to National Media Scrutinty.
How do you or people like you sleep at night? People like you make me want to be more intolerant that I want to be.
I’ll stop there, other to say it must suck to be you.

Alphie’s confused. What he meant to say is pretty soon the press will have to face her.
Btw how disappointed are the libs going to be when she rocks interviews too. They keep moving the line back, that’s got to be depressing :)
Spirit of 1776 on September 6, 2008 at 12:43 AM
alphie’s never been the same since that swordfight with King Arthur.
Holy crap, that list of smears is unbelievable. There’s no way the media dug up all that stuff in the space of a week. There is somebody feeding this stuff to them.
Jim Treacher on September 6, 2008 at 12:45 AM
It is suicidal for them to keep doing this and I would encourage it too if not for the fact that innocent people like the Richter family are being stalked by buzzards just because they were close to the Palins. I can’t imagine what that must be like.
Jaibones,
Enjoying your Palinesque comments to Alphie, and pointed questions about the missing records. Well done.

Nah. We’re just shaking our heads in amazement that a network late night joker can get by with sullying a 17 year old girl when we were told by the Messiah that kids were off limits.
The whining you hear are the gears in our heads grinding trying to keep track of the rules.

But cult think doesn’t produce these sort of smears out of whole cloth. The sheer number of them makes me think that somebody really, really wants to take her down. Whoever that person is probably hasn’t gotten a good night’s sleep in a week.
Jim Treacher on September 6, 2008 at 1:18 AM
I haven’t read through all of the comments, apologies if posted already.
When is the smear merchant Andrew Sullivan going to post a retraction. I love when these trash artists post the rumors but then when the proof comes out they don’t apologize nor post the evidence.
You know what is whacky, I can’t tell you how many Clinton supporters actually prefer Fox News now, I’ve heard many of these people say they are definitely voting McCain, they are even turning conservative in some areas.
This election exposed a lot. I think a similar thing happened after 9/11 when you had many liberals opposed to fighting in Afghanistan, it was during that time that I heard moderates say they were changing from Democrat to Independent or to Republican.
Crazy times.
UPDATE: Bill Maher on his show tonight tried to resurrect the false baby story again with Jeffrey Toobin, of course Toobin said he takes them at their word, instead of saying the obvious, it would be impossible.
These people are crazy.

And that someone published the model of her glasses and they are sold out all over the country!
Some fashion guy suposedly said that they had underestimated the frumpy smart girl appeal.
Suposedly, she is so attractive that she has to frump up her look so people will take her seriously… and now that is becoming the newest style!
Hilarious! Keep poking at her big boys–she plays to win!

A: As many as they can think up and judging by the rank sophism of today’s punditry, that could be quite a few.
Upside, they’re digging their own graves AND burrying themselves. By the time this is over, an awful lot of people are going to be out jobs.

“I heard from someone that knows a woman that went to U Idaho in the late 80s that was at a frat party where Sarah and some other female basketball players were naked and making out with each other.”
or
“word on the street is that Palin became super religious after experimenting with women in college and freaking out about her sexuality.”
The left sickens me… I can’t wait until this is over and we can dance on their political graves.

You know we really need some sort of open thread when you finally put this site to bed. I read / post some during the day, but by the time I get home, every thread has hundreds of comments and I feel very “insignificant” posting at that point. I feel like whatever I may have to say has already been said several times over.
I would like to see some type of clever open thread that would help make it through to the next day. I’m confident you can come up with something. The quote of the day wasn’t bad. I don’t want to get too pedestrian but a top five might work. At Dirty Harry’s Place, they have some good top fives related to movies and readers send DH suggestions for new ones.
As always, I defer to the experts…

Why is the book burning question so hard for people to understand?
Who did she ask it to? A librarian.
What do Librarian’s cherish/value? Books.
So a new Governor gets into office and decides to see if this person is a “yes, man” by asking same person if she is willing to destroy something she values. If the Librarian said “no, no problem burning some books. Which ones should I start with?” she probably would have been fired.
Who wants a “yes man”, in this case “yes ma’am woman” around?
If the person in charge had been a museum director the question would most likely have been about destroying fossils.
/sigh
Until I see some facts that show she was asking about this more than once, or actually pushing for the burning of books, anyone that brings this point up has a substandard IQ in my eyes & their opinions/statements are worthless.

This is a serious request. I have repeatedly stated that I believe that Senator Obama will lose 50 of 50 states based on two major factors:
Extreme liberals have lost their elections getting anywhere from 2% to 29% of the electoral vote and Senator Obama is far more liberal than any of those. (Extreme conservatives also… see Goldwater)
I have long been aware of the large portion of the Democrat demographic that is racist (they call them “working class Democrats”). I believe a very large portion of these voters either will not vote or will vote for Senator McCain.
Add to this the utter stupidity the opposition is demonstrating tell me, name one state that Senator Obama will carry. I suspect he will probably carry DC. For those of you about to say “California”… well, that is the home state of the “Bradley Effect”.
One state please.

LOL, OK you got me, so let me rephrase. She tried to fire the librarian, but buckled under public pressure to keep her on. But speaking of reading the story…
…I don’t know where you’re you’re reading anything about “perks of the job”. This appears to be a loyalty issue. So, I return to my previous question. What the heck does she care if the librarian is loyal or not? And my previous point stands. The librarian actually failed the “test”.
BTW- it wasn’t just the librarian, she went on a tear. To me Palin looks like a potential redux of the art of governing thru valuing loyalty over competence, a la Bush/Cheney.
ChenZhen on September 6, 2008 at 8:31 AM
Well, they can say whatever they want to about Sarah! but she’s gonna keep lobbing grenades at the O! and frankly that’s all I really care about, watching the slow trainwreck of summer as it roll’s over the landmines towards November. I’m sure by now the McCain’s team has got enough dirt on the O! to keep her very busy for the next two months. Man, I wish I had bought popcorn stocks.
JimK on September 6, 2008 at 8:38 AM
Oh dear. Now I’m really worried. I checked out the published sermons from the Wasilla Bible Church. Sarah Palin’s church.
Know what I found? Praise for the Lord, calls to repentence, exhortation to be kinder to others and more joyful in the expression of faith.
Bummer. Not one single rant about the unfairness of America or how it is actually a vicious, racist Ameri-KKK-a. Not one single “God-damn America” or glee about its chickens coming home to roost on September 11. Not a single plea for the plight of the poor Palestinians. Not even a word of praise for Reverend Wright, pastor of the church Obama attended for twenty years, who uttered all those things.
Good grief, this is worse than the liberals who support Obama could have imagined.
These stupid rubes are actually…Christians.

Obama in desperation is clinging to his harpies for defense. PLEASE take down Palin for me because I failed. His 3 a.m. SOS phone call to Hillary for rescue is priceless.
When Hillary first relinquished her run, and her former supporter turned Obama supporter came up to her to express condolences, Hillary bristled, “You chose WRONG!”
Hillary has no viable way to actively support Obama without absolutely playing his nursemaid. Hillary’s already given Obama as many featured endorsements as Oprah has. She can do her dinner engagement fund raisers, but owes Obama NADA. Considering how the DNC turned on her, she owes them no more than whatever she chooses to give.
And why should Hillary disaffect women voters at this point whom Sarah Palin has won over? Those are the bulk that elect Hillary to whatever office. Yes, obviously the core of Pinkos are around. But the MODERATES that have voted for Hillary in the past and would vote for Hillary as likely as not again in the future, those moderates are with Palin right now, and they’re not all women.
At this moment, wise politicians are observing the pulse of America, and not attempting to enforce cardiac arrest just to please Obama. SHOULD Obama lose, why go down with him? Should Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid fall into the minority, why lose good graces with Sarah Palin? Why should Hillary not grease the wheel leading to her next triumph? She knew all along that Obama would lose; that is why she thought that she would be the winner without trying at the onset. With Palin’s appearance, I’m not surprised that Hillary has two reasons to limit her exposure with Obama now.
Heh. I love it:

Had a conversation yesterday with a 14 year old girl who is supporting The One.
She first judged Bristol Palin for being too young to have a child – not an abortion! Then said she disapproved of Sarah Palin’s Family Values!!!!! When I asked her to explain she told me that the Palin’s had too many children and should not have had the last because they knew about the Downs.
I congratulated her on confessing to be judgmental and closed minded and wondered if my year of teaching her to think critically was a waste. Sadly, these leftist willfully remain blind to the truth of their bias, and that is why many of these smears will get some traction.
This all reminds me of the candidate who lost an election after it was revealed that he was a practicing Homosapien, his sister was a thespian, and he was known on occasion to masticate.

Sarah Palin is going to WOW the British audience who watch the BBC “The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard” broadcast on Masterpiece Theatre in America. (Put aside there being no political match between conservative Palin and the socialist character Pritchard.)
Funny, BBC laid the media groundwork and set the stage for a housewife to become Prime Minister in order to cut through the established cronyism and improve government for the people. Perhaps that leaves less room to groan for the miserable state to which Masterpiece Theatre has fallen.
SARAH! MADE IN THE USA is going to so out perform the BBC Pritchard concept. The British are already wondering that we found our Sarah! while their own Margaret Thatcher has yet to resurface. “Those Yanks!”

How to Argue like a liberal made me laugh (old i know but oddly relevant)
1. Make an untrue statement, preferably on the subject of something about which you know nothing.
2. Express astonishment that your source could possibly be inaccurate.
3. Demand what motivation your source would have to lie.
4. Assert that the other party’s inability to articulate this motivation is tantamount to proof that your source is not lying.
5. Question the motivation of the contrary source.
6. Argue that all sources are equal and that therefore the contrary source is irrelevant.
7. Change the subject.
Alternatively …
1. Make an untrue statement.
2. Deny that you said what you said.
3. Deny that the other party understood what you said.
4. Deny that the words you used mean what the other party claims they mean.
5. Redefine your definition and hope the other person forgets the previous one. Repeat as needed.
6. Assert that since definitions are irrelevant and subjective, the other person is mean-spirited, racist, sexist, intolerant and obsessive.
7. Change the subject.

Even I could conjure up a bogus book list to support my argument.
You can’t believe everything you read in the MSM.
I wonder who’ll get the first exclusive interview with the complaining librarian, Mary Ellen Baker…!
I gotta believe it won’t be Michelle…!

Weasels like alphie like to get in their little meaningles zingers every few days and then run for cover. They never engage anyone in meaningful conversation even though they feel superior. We like alphie because it reminds us of why we are fighting. Remember Hoot in Blachawk down said that when the fighting starts it’s all about the guy next to you.
See you in a couple of days alphie…
