Another Palin smear bites the dust

Nutcase bloggers will have to find another smear against Sarah Palin … again.  Did you hear that Todd Palin’s former business partner tried to get his divorce records sealed?  Conspiracy theorists immediately began speculating on line that Sarah Palin — that vixen! — must have had an affair and broken up the marriage.  Why else would the partner suddenly act to seal his records?

As the Smoking Gun discovered, Scott Richter wanted them sealed — to protect himself from conspiracy theorists (h/t: William Amos):

So when the blogosphere discovered today (via an online court docket) that Scott Richter, a Palin associate, personally filed a sealing motion in Alaska Superior Court, well, conclusions were jumped to. Was Sarah Palin named as the other woman in a messy divorce action? Well, since Richter’s September 3 motion, a copy of which you’ll find below, was denied yesterday, his divorce filings remain open to the public. And a TSG review of the 98-page file shows that the Palins are only mentioned in Richter’s sealing request.

According to the filing, Richter wanted the documents deemed confidential in a bid to cloak details about his home, workplace, and phone numbers because “reporters and news agencies” were using that information to contact him. Richter, a 39-year-old contractor, noted that he is “friends and land owners in a remote cabin” with the Palins and, as a result, journalists were intruding on the “cabin life and private life” of him and his 11-year-old son.

Isn’t that an extra dollop of irony?  Mr. Richter wants to protect his son from lunatics.  What happens?  The lunatics use that as “evidence” that Palin had an affair with Richter and descend on him to get the dirt.

The desperation of Obama supporters keeps becoming ever more clear.  We’ve now had them smear Palin and her daughter as sluts, notably Conan O’Brien and his crude “crease” reference on his show last night.  Palin’s mothering quality has also been slandered, and her decision to have a successful career derided by those who would normally sneer at stay-at-home moms.

Keep it up — please.  Keep informing the public that women have to stay on the ideological reservation or they have to stay in the kitchen, and that they’re not really free to have their own minds.  Keep punishing those who express their own opinions and defy the media with despicable slurs and innuendo and by all means keep attacking their children.  None of that will have any effect on Palin’s credibility — but it will strip her critics of theirs.

Update: Charles Martin at Explorations has the list of debunked slurs and innuendo, and it’s getting pretty lengthy.  Coming up next: Sarah Palin is an extraterrestrial looking to infiltrate human society!  Where’s the Weekly World News when you need it?

Update II: Just spitballing here, but what stereotypes of naughty women have the media and the lunatics missed?  So far, they’ve made her out to be a slut, a b***h, a beauty-queen airhead, and an unfit mother.  She’s obviously not frigid, so that smear won’t work.  How many other demeaning gender-based slurs can they throw her way?

I noticed where the NYT had to correct their front page smear…

d1carter on September 5, 2008 at 10:17 PM

The smear the left is on now is that Sarah is a book burner. Because she asked a librarian if she had problems banning certain books.

Palin said later it was a test question to see if the librarian would stand up to her. Now its blow up into that she is a nazi book burner with her christian facist veiws.

William Amos on September 5, 2008 at 9:29 PM

But that begs the question…

Why in the heck would she care if a librarian stands up to her? Seems rather strange to me.

ChenZhen on September 5, 2008 at 10:17 PM

I don’t cringe easily, but Conan’s “crease” joke was about as tasteless as any I’ve ever heard. He jumped the shark on that one, and I believe he will regret that bit of snarkiness down the road. Even his far-left-leaning audience seemed to understand that his statement was over the line. Wherever Leno goes, I go with him. Can’t wait to see Conan drive the Tonight Show juggernaut into a tree.

Did Sarah ban any?

I know those people are unhinged, I just don’t undertand why they are unhinged. I was just trying to be sincere and helpful to someone that I thought asked a sincere question. If I had said “they were unhinged” then I wouldn’t have sounded sincere in my reply.

Trust me, I know some people are crazier than a crap house rat. I’ve seen it first hand and have been amazed everytime, but not suprised. I know you meant well, but we are on the same page.

Hog Wild on September 5, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Meanwhile back in the real world – we have the chairman of the house ways and Means Committee not knowing he had to pay taxes on $75,000 rental income, a prominent mayor (d) disgraced, a representative (d) with $$$$ in his freezer still in office (I beleive) and Pelosi vowed to clean house (as long as you are white and republican).

What nonsense.

Fuquay Steve on September 5, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Obviously, she’s a Lesbian

Seriously. They will try this at some point. It’s one of their last ditch weapons and they’ve been using it since Joe McCarthy in the ’50s. Remember Kerry trying to “out” Cheney’s daughter 4 years ago?

ChenZhen on September 5, 2008 at 10:17 PM

Eh Maybe she has a problem with Heather has two mommies. Or a KKK clan biography.

People tend to find somethings offensive. As far as I can tell there is no evidence she asked for ANY book to be banned just if it bothered the Librarian.

William Amos on September 5, 2008 at 10:27 PM

They’ve dug deeper into Governor Palin’s life in a week that they have into Senator Obama’s in over a year.

TheBigOldDog on September 5, 2008 at 9:29 PM

Yep. Comcast runs a headline on how many colleges Palin attended before graduating, but I’ve yet to see a headline (or even a mention) about Obama’s receiving the official endorsement of the U.S. Communist Party. Somehow it’s more important for the public to know about Palin’s undergraduate courses than for the public to know about Obama’s associations with and endorsements from communists.

MSM = All Liberal bias, all the time.

ChenZhen on September 5, 2008 at 10:29 PM

I read the story. The Librarian was there for over two years and said Palin never asked that any books be banned.

As for the loyaty thing remember that there was an entrenched group that opposed palin. One thing about being a reformer is that the statis quo people fight against you. Palin probably had to weed out those that were hostile to any reform.

Im more willing to bet this was more over a budget fight than anything else and its been spun as something different

ChenZhen on September 5, 2008 at 10:29 PM –

Loyal? No. Professional.

Have a friend who is a librarian. In her job interview she was asked directly about banning certain books…titles and authors given…and she replied that is not her perview and she would not support it, nor follow orders from the county board to do so. Some of the other candidates, apparently, trying to suck up to the county board, during their job interviews, replied in various ways that they would ban all the books on the list, or some of the books on the list or some books that were not on the list. Guess who got hired?

If Mayor Palin did ask the librarian in Wassilla questions along the same line…good for Palin. More Mayors and County Commissioners should do the same, demanding the same results. Way to go Palin!

Oh, and having worked as a “civil rights attorney” without being able to cite a single successful litigation.

Obama had a strange Saudi sponsor who helped him in college. I’m guessing there was some kind of grooming going on during that period.

But the media is busy vetting Sarah’s prayer life.

The latest news hitting the front page of Sunday’s NYT is a follow up to the “Lord’s will be done” scandal. It seems when Sarah prayed as a little girl she asked for God’s kingdom to come too (obviously hoping to replace America’s Constitutional government). They allege that Piper is now being forced to pray the same subversive prayer on her knees on a cold floor. Experts are calling it a clear case of child abuse and saying it is family-wide. The thorough media vetting process has traced the behavior back several generations and are in the process of exhuming bodies to check for worn kneecaps from the torture Palin now claims was inflicted on her as a learned ritual. It is thought the violent revolutionary prayer was plagiarized from a man named King James.

Great article on Palin by Sen. Mike Gravel, Sarah Palin’s Clean Slate, at: http://www.counterpunch.org/gravel09032008.html

One of the money quotes:

Sarah has literally come to the national scene without owing anything to any party or corporate interest––not even McCain––he needs her more than she needs him. Imagine a person a heart beat away not owned by the military-industrial complex, Wall Street, corporate America or AIPAC. WOW! Can this last? Probably not. But she does have an uncanny sense of political direction and the ability to capitalize on change like putting the public interest above Republican Party interests.

It’s actually worse than that. The Boston Herald (I think) ran an article about her hair. They interviewed a hair stylist about it. It was all about how dated it is, and how her policies are probably twenty years behind, too.

Shades of Katherine Harris treatment from the Left.

Real feminists, these people. I wonder if they’ve ever commented on Eleanor Clift’s appearance, or maybe Madeline Albright’s. They probably would describe those women as “beautiful”.

How about:

These donks are doing such a bad job, I mean, damn, they are starting to make Alex Jones look credible.

If it were allowed, a synonym of “donkey” would have been much more appropriate.
As for Alex Jones, I think you are giving him too much credit. Maybe you should have said “they are starting to make Dan Rather look credible.”

I want to see Barry’s Columbia transcripts….are there NO media types out there willing to pound Barry on his rise from Columbia to Harvard Law?

Anyone? Bueller?

That’s the article I read. Who was whining about not addressing the issues? How is this an issue?

Most important, how does this help MichelleO’s kids?

Thanks for posting that. So, the folks who are saying these things are supposedly afraid of being found out? Might it be because their statements have no basis in truth?

Things like this just help the Obama folk continue their BS talking point that not voting for him means you’re a racist.

How many other demeaning gender-based slurs can they throw her way?

1) “Super-Secret Lesbian”

2) “Fag-Hag”

3) “Shop-a-holic”

4) “Fake Boobies”

5) “Amature Porn Star”

I got the sense from reading a news article about this that his grades would have suggested it was something else that allowed him to get into Harvard.

…and the left snivels about Bush being secretive. I guess he’s only trying to keep the US (and us) safe.

Oblahblah has an election to win, so no transcripts, no medical records, no explanation of Ayers/Dohrn/Rezko/Middle Eastern donors, no information on his ACORN ties, etc.

BTW, I think this is the best video of Sarah yet. Can’t wait for the Fox News special. I loved what she said when she was tying up Piper’s ponytails.

In the condescending drivel from the Dems in-box:

From the IHT, 5 Sept 08 –

“The Obama camp also plans to keep Biden campaigning steadily in such battleground states as Pennsylvania and Ohio. Obama advisers said that one advantage they already have is that Biden, as a six-term senator and former presidential candidate, is well-prepared for his debate with Palin in October, and that she will have to stay off the trail for more time to train for it.”

Sort of assumes that Palin needs a reading coach and has never had to debate anyone, or has no grasp of the “issues?” Ya think?

“Clinton’s campaign event in Florida, her first for Obama since the Democratic convention last month, will include a forceful response to the searing attacks and fresh burst of energy that Palin injected into the race with her convention speech on Wednesday night, Obama aides said.”

Telling the truth is now a searing attack?

Hillary’s apparently heading off to Florida next week to counter Palin’s popularity and appeal to undecided female voters. {So, no undecided male vboters need attend?]

Has anyone seen a compiled list of A-list, B-list and C-list media names/companies who have smeared Sarah Palin?

We need a list compiled so we can boycott their damn shows and show times.

That would be fun, but I just don’t have time to do it.

I noticed how she stopped, listened to her daughter, then picked up with her answer without forgetting what it was.

I did a population search on Wasilla. Ed, did you know that Wasilla is the fourth largest city in Alaska? That’s not saying much, I know, but I wonder what the average population of cities in the US is? if you average in all the small one-stop sign towns in the US I would be willing to bet that Sarah was the mayor of a city that represents an average American town or city… Can someone with more research skills than me dig up something on that?

telmah on September 6, 2008 at 12:21 AM

Coming up with a story that only true believers would fall for doesn’t disprove the charge, sven…it just proves how gullible Palin supporters are.

alphie on September 5, 2008 at 10:28 PM

Believe it or not, I’m not going to support her for vice president on her book-banning stances, whether she’s for or against banning books. If she gets elected and wants to ban books, I’ll be the first to say she should be thrown out of office, just like I would say about anyone who wants to ban books, because I have no desire to see book-banning anywhere.

It’s the other stuff she said that is appealing. Trying to isolate one item and saying it’s a “deal-breaker” (or, to be blunt, even a dozen items, in something as complex as politics) is rarely a fruitful exercise. Hence the saying, “Politics make strange bedfellows”.

August 04, 2002 LA Times

The daughter of Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (D-Del.) was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer outside a Chicago bar.

Ashley Blazer Biden, 21, of Wilmington, Del., was with a group of people on a North Side street where several bars are located when someone else threw a bottle at an officer, police said.

When police tried to arrest another person, Biden blocked the officer’s path and made intimidating statements, officer JoAnn Taylor said.

Biden was later released and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 20.

Sen. Biden’s spokeswoman, Margaret Aitken, declined to comment, calling it a private, family matter.

Why is no one talking about this?
Why is this not on the cover of Us Weekly?

Hey alphie- isn’t it simply amazing that ChicagObama “lost” his doctoral thesis?

When’s the last time you ever heard of that happening?

Especially from a bright ambitious Harvard Law Prof who is eyeing an agressive political career? Ain’t that strange?
