A Palin cone of silence? Update: Statement from Team McCain

posted at 10:03 am on September 5, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

According to Jay Carney at Time, the strategy from Team McCain regarding Sarah Palin will be to have her avoid media appearances and have her focus on campaign stops and stump speeches. However, if the clip that Carney produces below is all the evidence anyone has for this, then I’d suggest that Carney take another look at it again. That isn’t what Nicole Wallace said at all, and it frankly proves her point about the mainstream media and its animus towards Palin and John McCain:

Q. We know now that Sarah Palin can give one hell of a speech, she’s a natural, and that’s no mean feat. We don’t know yet, and we won’t know until you guys allow her to take questions, you know, can she answer tough questions about domestic policy, foreign policy –

NW: Wait, wait. Questions from who? From him, from you? Who cares? No offense, but –

Q: I think the American people care –

NW: I think the American people want to see her, but who cares if she can talk to Time Magazine? She can talk to the American people. They want to see how am I going to save my home.

Q: The American people need to know, just like they need to know about Joe Biden and Barack Obama –

NW: That she can talk to you?

Q: Not just to me — that she knows things about domestic and foreign policy that presidents and vice-presidents need to know.

NW: Right. But — but here’s the thing. I mean, the media called this … The media did something to this family that I’ve never seen before. In my life! And I think she took the stage last night and, you know, she made her own points. She — she put this discussion and this race and this convention in her own terms. And she didn’t do it by talking, all due respect, to people like you. She took the stage and talked to the American people about things they care about, how they’re going to save their homes.

Out of his, Carney launches a meme that the McCain campaign will put Palin in a bubble — which would be a neat trick, considering that they need her on the campaign trail in high-visibility states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and so on. It’s not as if she’ll be able to avoid reporters while campaigning, especially in this day and age, or that she won’t get asked these questions by voters and oppo plants alike while cameras roll.

Please point out anywhere in here where Carney can reasonably quote the McCain campaign as saying Palin will not appear on interview shows or interact with reporters. What Wallace says is that instead of relying on these journalists to vet Palin, she’s going to focus her message and communication above the media and directly to the American people — basically, a Reagan strategy. Reagan also did interviews and press conferences, but he talked past the media filter, and that’s what Wallace says here that Palin will do.

She’s also telling Carney that he thinks a little too highly of himself and his profession, especially after the miserable performance they gave this week in handling her selection. Want a few examples?

“There’s also this issue that on April 18th, she gave birth to a baby with Down’s Syndrome…. Children with Down’s syndrome require an awful lot of attention. The role of Vice President, it seems to me, would take up an awful lot of her time, and it raises the issue of how much time will she have to dedicate to her newborn child?” John Roberts CNN

“How can a woman run a state and bring up five children at the same time?… I think they have every right to ask that…” Liz Trotta, Media Prof at New School

“Is she prepared for the all-consuming nature of the job? She is the mother of five children, one of them a four-month-old with Down Syndrome. Her first priority has to be her children. When the phone rings at three in the morning and one of her children is really sick what choice will she make?” Sally Quinn, Washington Post

“Adding to the brutality of a national campaign, the Palin family also has an infant with special needs. What leads you, the Senator, and the Governor to believe that one won’t affect the other in the next couple of months?” Bill Weir, Good Morning America

” There is another question though which essentially I’ve heard expressed here many times today and from calls elsewhere, and that is the decision made by Sarah Palin herself, when knowing her daughter’s condition, by accepting John McCain’s offer she guaranteed that her daughter would be known globally as the best known 17-year-old unwed teenager in the world, and that decision many people question… The question of how it affected her daughter is not open to question. It has made her daughter a front-page item for the country.” Mark Shields, PBS

“But there’s also, I think the part of it is the particular dynamic of her family, Megan. Her youngest child, down’s syndrome and now her oldest daughter is pregnant. And there are some moms out there that are angry, that are saying she has put her family unfairly into the spotlight.” Meredith Viera, Today

“Congresswoman, what about the argument that, you know, vice president is a tough job, and that having a four month old baby, who has Down’s Syndrome, that will have special needs, requires extra time, that, that she should be focusing on her four month old, that some people have said that, fairly or unfairly. What do you think of that?’ Norah O’Donnell, MSNBC

Pitiful. Wallace points out that the mainstream media has a lot of gall appointing themselves the arbiter of candidate vetting after this performance, and she’s right. She never says or even intimates that Palin will boycott the press in the nine weeks to the election. (via Jazz Shaw, who is right that such a strategy would be incredibly stupid — if it existed.)

Update: The McCain campaign issued this response today after I asked them for clarification:

Gov. Sarah Palin spoke directly to 40 million people on Wednesday night. Only in the warped worldview of the beltway media establishment would that constitute a ‘cone of silence’. We will conduct our campaign our way and on our timeline.

Translation: Pound sand. I suspect that they have a list of shows on which Palin will not appear, and it will probably include those from which I’ve taken the above quotes, but that we’ll see her shortly on others. However, anyone thinking that any of the four principals could possibly find a “cone of silence” in today’s political world has to be fooling themselves.

Palin should pick who she tals to.

The MSM liberal dinosaurs can hunt for scraps!

Right_of_Attila on September 5, 2008 at 10:11 AM

If she does do an interview, the media will be frustrated when she doesn’t agree with the premise of the questions, which will of course come from the far left.

It’s pointless talking to these “journalists” who are nothing but errand boys and girls for the DNC, but unfortunately she’ll have to subject herself to it.

NoDonkey on September 5, 2008 at 10:11 AM

If any of these hacks would take the time to view some of her gubernatorial debate tapes, they would need to find another meme…

The media want to claim that this was a big surprise, but many of us here were talking about her as a VP choice months ago.

Actually, I dont give a rat’s behind if Sarah EVER talks to the Washington Post, or the NY Times, or Meredith Viera or any of the loons at NBC/MSNBC.

They will all be in full attack mode and treat her disgracefully.

Sarah should be taking her views and her arguments directly to the only people that REALLY matter: THE VOTERS.

Always Right on September 5, 2008 at 10:12 AM

She smacked Carney down pretty good…stomped on him, actually. Something tells me we are going to see more of this from those female reporters and commentators who are getting fed up carrying the liberal water at the expense of the dignity of their own gender. Megyn Kelly is the perfect example.

ManlyRash on September 5, 2008 at 10:13 AM

I think it would be smart to have her campaign hard in the battle states only. She won over a tremendous amount of people on Wednesday night. Not that I am worried about her looking bad, vis-a-vis media interviews, but you know the media will be going after her and trying to make her look stupid by asking her pointed questions about who is the ‘President of Canada’ and such.

She is most effective being exposed in the battle states in huge amounts. The crowds drawn alone will be strategically advantageous.

carbon_footprint on September 5, 2008 at 10:14 AM

These guys are in for a big surprise come November. When McCain and Palin win in a landslide. Not only will these MSM morons not understand how the RNC won the election, they also won’t realize how unimportant and foolish they as the MSM are. I would feel bad for them, but they have been asking for this for a long time.

Off Topic: Rudi Guilliani said in his speech that, “there hasn’t been a less qualified candidate for president in a 100 years”. I like to who in the last 232 years was a worse qualified candidate than Barry O.

Why, so they can cut her up on THEIR terms? They are cheerleading for the other team. If Oprah Winfrey won’t have Gov. Palin on her show, why should Gov. Palin talk to any of these clowns? Do you really think there’s an undecided voter out there who is going to say “gee, I don’t think I can trust John McCain to be President because Sarah Palin did not give an interview to a magazine that’s had Barack Obama on its cover 7 times this year”?

rockmom on September 5, 2008 at 10:14 AM

My attitude is let the MSM media to bash Sarah Palin from now until Election Day. All they are going to do is get more people peeved off at them for refusing to see this incredible and gifted woman for who and what she is and more and more of them will be turning away from B.O. and towards McCain instead.

What really gets me is for as long as I can recall, the majority of yoohoos in the MSM have been humongous advocates of women’s rights and have been waiting for a real living breathing example of woman empowerment to finally come on the political scene.

That real living breathing example showed on Wednesday night at the Republican Convention.

So what do we get from the MSM?

Bash attacks!

I swear, these people live in a hermetically sealed bubble of their own making.

They are totally unclear on the concept.

Palin owes the media NADA! She’s opened her record for public scrutiny. Until the media do their own homework, as a candidate she has absolutely no obligation to play their nursemaid. Furthermore, as a candidate for the Vice Presidency of the United States, she has business to attend. The VP job description is not press secretary.

maverick muse on September 5, 2008 at 10:15 AM

This is very simple – the MSM now knows that Gov. Palin “SELLS”,, and they want to sell magazines, TV shows, etc.

That’s all this is about – the MSM simply wants to hore their goods.

Only when a mother threatens their ill-gained rise to power does the left give a crap about family values.

Liberals are such a sick and twisted bunch of people. Of course, I guess it’s natural to abandon logic and respect for human life when you become a pot smoking marxist tool.

leetpriest on September 5, 2008 at 10:18 AM

I think they should make a big public deal out of the Oprah snub, put out the word that Palin really wants to appear on Oprah. Do the same for The View and Ellen Degeneres. She can easily handle those interviews if they accept, and if they don’t want her on, then that helps too. Win-win.

Dudley Smith on September 5, 2008 at 10:18 AM

Carney is a fool and a tool, and Obama’s adviser (Gibbs) is an even bigger fool and a bigger tool.

A McCain adviser (Rick Davis, I think) made an excellent point today on Morning Joe: How many shows did Biden do within the first week after his nomination? Give Palin a chance to breathe for a week or so, then let her loose.

Besides, last night on Hardball, as Howard Fineman was complaining about access to Palin, he complained about a similar restriction on access to Obama by Obama’s campaign. Where’s the reporting on that? Indeed, how’s the investigative reporting going into Obama’s Annenberg Challenge relationship with Ayers, Obama’s role in Chicago politics, Obama’s votes in the Illinois senate, the effect of Wright’s church on Obama’s position on reparations, Obama’s actual accomplishments as a community organizer, the true story behind Obama’s purchase of his residence for $300K less than the asking price in a seller’s market, and Obama’s $64,000 gift to Rezko’s wife?

How’s all that reporting coming along? Anyone? Anyone?

BuckeyeSam on September 5, 2008 at 10:19 AM

If “only the blogs” were hitting her why weren’t the newsies discrediting and mocking the blogs instead of running with “hey we just have to ask since the question is out there”….

I assure you they do not come to HotAir to get memes on THE ONE.

“The Media”…what a joke. Our media has become the laughing stock of all the world. We do not have news anymore, only opinions flying around like mosquitoes. I can not begin to comprehend just how these people are able to look at themselves in the mirror each day. Their bias and agendas are plain to see for anyone who cares to actually pay attention.

The sad part, it’s not just the Liberal media that are the morons, but so-called Conservatives as well. What is even more sad, is there are millions of people out there who eat this crap up and then regurgitate it to others.

Sarah’s job is NOT to set foreign or domestic policy anyway. That’s McCain’s job. It’s her job to support his policies(in public)whether or not she agrees with him. In the case of Obama, he has already made it clear that he is almost incapable of solid views or definite opinions on anything at all. I thought Rudy’s quip about “present” being a useful vote was his funniest moment. Obama has redefined “flexible” as “limp”.

aero on September 5, 2008 at 10:10 AM

Why, so they can cut her up on THEIR terms?

rockmom on September 5, 2008 at 10:14 AM

Because she’s not going to reach the independents by talking to 200 people at a time in McCain’s intimate little townhalls he loves so much. She’s not even going to make enough headway by talking to crowds of 5,000+ in the battleground states. She needs to go where the lazy undecideds will find her by accident — on the TV. The hostile media vultures don’t deserve her time and the ratings she’ll bring them, I totally agree. But she needs their cameras and viewers to keep pushing her message to the ones who will decide the election — the people in the middle who don’t have a clue, won’t be going to rallies, and won’t attend a townhall. They’re sitting in their easy chairs, being passive political consumers, and they need to be spoon-fed. Sarah needs to go to the news shows now and show them that she is just as formidable off-script and off the teleprompters as she was on Wednesday night. Now.

aero on September 5, 2008 at 10:24 AM

If she gives it some thought beforehand, she’ll defer all questions about her family. End of story. If she could only handle the press half as well as she gives a speech. We’ll see. She made it clear Wed nite she has no use for the press!

Paul-Cincy on September 5, 2008 at 10:25 AM

Has the Media Been Unfair to Sarah Palin?

Media in Denial?

Some in the mainstream media are defending themselves against criticisms of being unfairly harsh in their coverage of Governor Palin….

Foreign Defense

But some in the foreign press, which knows something about journalistic attacks, disagree. A column in London’s Daily Telegraph says, “Like Margaret Thatcher before her, Mrs. Palin is coming in for both barrels of left-wing contempt: misogyny and snobbery.”

A column in the Sydney Morning Herald says that what Palin has faced “just goes to show that establishment feminists are only champions of women who subscribe to a narrow set of left-wing positions.”

An editorial in The Australian newspaper took aim at the reporting of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy, saying, “Newspapers forgot their progressive embrace of different lifestyles and resorted to reactionary intolerance.”

A new Rasmussen poll indicates that a majority of Americans agree. Fifty-one percent think that reporters are trying to hurt Palin with their news coverage. Just five percent say the media are actually trying to help the Alaska governor….

Jim Treacher on September 5, 2008 at 10:31 AM

No, not 60 minutes.

She should only do live interviews. 60 minutes is notorious for post production editing of an interview to make the guest look like they said things that were never said.

As someone else said she needs to concentrate on battleground states.

Start doing morning interviews with local drive time radio hosts, both friendly and unfriendly.

She needs to hit the radio talk show circuit.

She needs to get her message directly to the people. She should not give the MSM any opportunity to edit what she had to say.

MarkTheGreat on September 5, 2008 at 10:32 AM

How would you feel if your kids were treated that way? Nicole has always been a smart operative, and I think she was a harbinger of the position that Sarah is going to take with the media. She will be selective where she appears and will focus on Fox, WSJ and those that are not out to tear her down.
Finally, MOTHERS NEVER FORGET.

Mr_Magoo on September 5, 2008 at 10:32 AM

Instead of relying on these journalists to vet Palin, she’s going to focus her message and communication above the media and directly to the American people — basically, a Reagan strategy.

With MSM campaigning against us, it’s the only approach that makes sense. It takes charisma, and I doubt McCain could speak above the media by himself. But Sarah Palin can do it in her sleep. McCain-Palin make a great team.

However, she will be glad to fit in when she can some interviews with our nation’s major news outlets. Just as soon as the same news outlets actually report these facts:

– Barack Obama has refused to release his college transcripts
– Barack Obama has refused to discuss his tenure as Chairman of the Annenberg Challenge
– Barack Obama has refused to explain why his campaign gave $800,000 to ACORN, an organization that is under a criminal ivestigation in five states for voter fraud and other criminal activities
– Barack Obama has refused to release detailed medical records
– Barack Obama has refused to release his Illinois State Bar application
– Barack Obama has refused to release the names of clients he represented as a “civil rights lawyer”
– Barack Obama has refused to release any records from his tenure in the Illinois State Senate

Perhaps the national news outlets might want to follow up on these items about the Democratic candidate for President before they sit down with our candidate for Vice President, whose records as mayor and Governor have been fully transparent, whose college transcripts have been released, and whose tax returns have been released.

Media bias alert:

Search Google News for “Intrade” and look at the garbage on Palin. Now comes the experiment in real time to see how long it takes brilliant big city Ivy Leaguers in the MSM to report the blockbuster shift in the election.

econavenger on September 5, 2008 at 10:36 AM

Palin should do as Obama has done. The MSM will attack her at every instance. She will be quoted out of context and misquoted at every turn. Obama has refused interviews with Fox for that very reason. He breaks his silence with the interview with O’Reilly and you see what I mean. Obama’s celebrity status evaporates and Obama comes on as a pretender instead of a contender. O’Reilly uses him to boost the Factor ratings by challenging him on issue after issue. Parts of the interview are going to be on Monday and Tuesday. It will be interesting to see if Barry improves as the interview progresses. Obama has been coasting for 18 months and it shows.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s time to treat them like terrorists: No negotiation. And no warning when she strikes.

Jim Treacher on September 5, 2008 at 10:17 AM

A+

Also, maybe give them just enough access to whet their insatiable appetites, but not so much to stop them from foaming at the mouth?

Strategery!

Loxodonta on September 5, 2008 at 10:38 AM

NYT, WaPo, Time mag etc. are not entitled to interview S. Palin, nor is Sarah Obliged to grant any such interview. It is incumbent upon Sarah as a candidate seeking public office to “make her pitch” to the voters. How she “makes her pitch”, and what venues she uses is completely up to the McCain/Palin campaign….If they don’t do a good job, she won’t get enough votes to win. Simple as that.

The cause for the present “concern” by the liberal media is due to the fact it has finally hit home – they’ve made themselves irrelevant through years of biased “reporting”.

alwyr on September 5, 2008 at 10:39 AM

My guess is you’ll see Palin doing her first interviews by the weekend of the Sept. 14 Sunday talk shows. Of course, if she does Fox New Sunday that won’t stop the cries that she’s being “sheltered”, so she’ll probably end up doing at least one other show, most likely with Brokaw on MTP. But it would be great theater to see the McCain campaign demand Sarah be interviewed by Olbermann on “Countdown”, since what the netroots would expect their hero to do, and what his most likely action would be (locking himself in the bathroom or faking a fall down the stairs so David Gregory or Chris Matthews would have to face Palin).

Whoever does get the first “exclusive” interview with Palin is in for a ratings bonanza. Eat your heart out Oprah, Jann, Jay, Keith, Meridith, Norah, Campbell because it’s not going to be you.

Buy Danish on September 5, 2008 at 10:43 AM

Regardless, Palin does need to hit the news show circuit fast and hard. Starting ASAP.

aero on September 5, 2008 at 10:10 AM

Agreed. Look, I know how much everyone here likes to chastise the ‘liberal-elite-media-types’ for asking questions — but it’s only going to get worse until Palin hits the trail and actually ANSWERS some questions from reporters, not delivers another speech via teleprompter.

I think the fervor with which the media is asking questions will die down when she starts to have a dialogue with the American people. The more she talks (which is a GOOD thing for the McCain campaign) the less ravenous the media will be.

Thinking about this in terms of past elections is ludicrous. This is uncharted territory… and she’s the governor of Alaska.

Jim Treacher on September 5, 2008 at 10:44 AM

Screw the MSM. The more annoyed they get, the more outrageous their idiocy gets. Let them bury themselves.

It seems that this hack, Carney, is trying to carry on Pissy Chrissy Matthews’ psychotic break from his Lardball show and this exact claim that the spitting fool was trying to put in the mouth of Pat Buchanan. Too funny and too sad.

A bit OT:

Out of [t]his, Carney launches a meme that the McCain campaign will put Palin in a bubble —

No offense, Ed. Great post. But I find it hard to express how much I hate this word ‘meme’. I have yet to see it used anywhere that normal English would not suffice. Would it have been too terribly old-fashioned to have just written, “Out of this, Carney launches the notion that the McCain campaign will put Palin in a bubble —” I don’t see any difference. Sorry about the mini-rant, but that meme word gets to me like nails on a blackboard.

Good post.

– Barack Obama has refused to release the names of clients he represented as a “civil rights lawyer”

There may be privilege issues belonging to the client(s) and/or the defendant(s) unless the case was filed – and then it is public record. my friend (a lawyer) went through a contentious divorce and the “ex” wanted a list of her clients. The Judge refused except in the cases that had already been filed. I don’t know if there is a privilege in the BO case or suggest that there is. The list on your post is enough without this one.

There’s an interesting link within the Jazz Shaw link

http://community.adn.com/adn/node/130537

Also, Jazz Shaw’s swipe at Palin seems more like what he hopes than what he is predicting.

I’ll slip on my prognosticator’s hat for a moment and give you a prediction. Sarah Palin will eventually show up for such questioning, but she’s going to look much more tired and haggard.

Brat on September 5, 2008 at 10:46 AM

George Steponopolus(sp) is taking questions to ask Obama on his show this Sunday, I told him to ask what is his favorite martini and color… I think EVERYONE should comment, maybe they’ll get the hint that they only ever ask him softball questions.

reshas1 on September 5, 2008 at 10:12 AM

Excellent idea. But FWIW, don’t be an idiot like me. If you’re not alread registered, register first. Yeah, I know. Believe me, I’m not happy that my comment was eaten.

BuckeyeSam on September 5, 2008 at 10:47 AM

I think Mrs. Palin should go right at them and grant interviews to anyone – she can handle it. One precondition – her campaign gets the full unedited tape of the interview afterwards, and that fact is widely publicized.

If anyone asks her why, she should just say “Because everyone knows you are biased in favor of Democrats, and that you have a track record of misrepresenting things we Republicans say to make us look either foolish or evil. Are those enough reasons?”

drunyan8315 on September 5, 2008 at 10:48 AM

Screw the MSM. The more annoyed they get, the more outrageous their idiocy gets.

And the higher her poll numbers will rise.

Jim Treacher on September 5, 2008 at 10:49 AM

But it would be great theater to see the McCain campaign demand Sarah be interviewed by Olbermann on “Countdown”, since what the netroots would expect their hero to do, and what his most likely action would be (locking himself in the bathroom or faking a fall down the stairs so David Gregory or Chris Matthews would have to face Palin).

On the contrary, Olbermann would love to get her on his show.

Is there any doubt in your mind, that there is any doubt in Olbermann’s mind, that he is smarter than Sarah Palin?

He would love to get her on and try to cut her up.

I don’t mind Palin taking her shots from the press, because in general I think she can handle it. But if she subjects herself to too great a fusillade, there’s the danger that she’ll catch a bullet eventually, no matter how desperate their aim.

She is great– but she is not invicible.

Just continue to play it smart, that’s all I hope for. She will have to do some tough interviews.

But probably not Olby, despite the fact that she’d eviscerate him. Might be good practice for Biden, actually.

benjamin on September 5, 2008 at 10:50 AM

I absolutely believe she should pick whomever she wants to be interviewed by but here is a sample of what they are saying on the Time comments to this a-hole’s post:

So she’s going to face unfriendly foreign leaders but can’t face unfriendly press?

That’s just a one-liner, the rest are really ugly.

Wish there was something we can do to let the press know they have gone over the line.

tru2tx on September 5, 2008 at 10:50 AM

Reagan went straight to the people. Why can’t Palin?

Media interviews are for those dullards without the gift of communication (read McCain).

TheBigOldDog on September 5, 2008 at 10:40 AM

No, I’m in the Philly suburbs. But my husband’s family is in Boston and western Mass.

rockmom on September 5, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Here’s how McCain plays this smart.

Deny interviews on MTP etc until the media begs for it and makes it an issue. Unleash her on those shows to guarantee the highest possible viewership. And laugh and laugh and laugh after she “surprises” them yet again.

lorien1973 on September 5, 2008 at 10:51 AM

She should only do live interviews.

Or interviews where the MP team gets access to the raw video/audio so they can show how dishonest the edits are. Heck, if I were her, I’d walk out there with a small digital voice recorder, set it on the desk between me and the interrogator, and pointedly turn it on, and HOPE they ask me what it’s for. Then, with the sweetest smile, say “Our webmaster will put it up when this interview airs, to make sure I’m quoted in context.”

The Monster on September 5, 2008 at 10:51 AM

We will conduct our campaign our way and on our timeline

Excellent. The MSM would love to throw the Palin-McCain team off its stride.

The Palin-McCain response points out a fundamental rule: You make your enemies fight on the field you choose, not on the field that they choose.

RJGatorEsq. on September 5, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Hey, did anybody see that other jerk from Time magazine on CNN this morning?

Some paraphrased highlights: McCain was “shooting from the hip” in picking Palin. He didn’t vet her, so “we (the media) are vetting her”. “Is this an indication of how he will run his presidency?”

Obama was “conservative” and made “the obvious pick” of Biden. And so on.

He really thinks Biden was the obvious pick? I thought he was taking a huge risk by not picking Hillary. But hey, what fo I know – he works for the Obama campaign and I don’t

forest on September 5, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Nah, Olbermann would never allow himself to get that close to a Republican.

Jim Treacher on September 5, 2008 at 10:53 AM

aero – you have made a valid point, but you need to apprehend one important concept. Sarah is on OFFENSE, not DEFENSE. She will do as you say I believe, because it is a smart thing to do. But you forget the one most important part – she already has political capital – she can dictate her own terms.

snaggletoothie on September 5, 2008 at 10:54 AM

It doesn’t matter what the pundits say anymore. The last thing McCain wants is to hide Palin from America. They’re afraid that they won’t get the interviews because of the trashing of her family. The MSM won’t ask her any questions regarding issues. That’s the last thing they want to do. They’ll focus all their questions on the scandals they made up. McCain should put her on FOX every chance he gets.

Screw NBC, CBS and ABC. McCain/Palin don’t need them.
