With over 60,000 votes cast on MSNBC, Palin is looking hot.
Go here to cast your vote:
Was VP pick Sarah Palin’s speech effective in introducing herself and boosting John McCain’s campaign?
Saltysam on September 4, 2008 at 1:13 AM
But wait, the media/Democrat campaign to force banks to be less restrictive on who they gave loans to worked out so well…didn’t it?
Well, at least Barack Obama’s good friend (and almost VP) made a few tens of millions off of it…
18-1 on September 4, 2008 at 1:13 AM
Go to the 3:55 mark of video and watch as she talks about Oil supplies, she stumbles at Venezuala. I’m guessing that is when it went out and she saw it.
jp on September 4, 2008 at 1:13 AM
They’re ganging up on her for not going deeper into policy, and quoting Harry Reid (who “cannot stand up to John McCain”) as her being “shrill”, and making a comment that she can read a teleprompter.
In short – it’s weak and reactionary.
yo on September 4, 2008 at 1:13 AM
The teleprompter ‘broke’? Obviously someone in the Obama campaign – probably Michelle – ‘tripped’ over the power cord.
Quick, get this to the NYT – surely they’ll rush to get it on page one!. No, really. I saw it happen with my own eyes – that’s enough to get on NYT page one lately, isn’t it?
Midas on September 4, 2008 at 1:14 AM
Larry King looks suicidal… poor guy…
gmoonster on September 4, 2008 at 1:15 AM
Which brings me to making a suggestion for all those who are excited… channel it! Find your local GOP office and donate your time and energy. I’ve been given a reason to do it gleefully again with Palin.
SkinnerVic on September 4, 2008 at 1:15 AM
Ok, here is the KOS and DU nutbags after the speech, just substitute “she” for “he” (but at least the basement is the same).

go to around 3:55:33 ish….she says “Discoveries” with a long pause as she looks at teleprompter.
Epic?
jp on September 4, 2008 at 1:16 AM
they are just dreaming of methaphorically screwing her as well as she just screwed them.

Ok done crying.
Bishop on September 4, 2008 at 1:17 AM
Nah, more like gave the old one an adrenaline shot. Palin, Jindal, Pawlenty et al. are the fresh legs to replace horses hobbled by fatigue and complacency.
spmat on September 4, 2008 at 1:17 AM
It’s such a circular argument. Ok, so Palin has ‘executive’ experience for 2 years in a state with a population that’s smaller than most large cities. Obama has no executive experience. But neither does McCain. So where does this lead us- Palin is the best candidate for President in either party?

IN the spirit of our campaign finally kicking off, with a chance, i will present several inspirational moments in film:

anyway if the donks tried to screw her up and that’s all they got then they are EVEN MORE SCARED NOW because they know she can flat out give good speech…
sven10077 on September 4, 2008 at 1:18 AM
Keith Olbermann said her crack about community organizers was elitist and insulting to community organizers all across the country, and surely this would bring a backlash.
ROFL

Hillary’s not going to get anywhere near the White House again.
Illinidiva on September 4, 2008 at 1:19 AM
Rerun of Palin’s speech in 8 minutes on, of all channels…. MSNBC.
I tell you… I have never experienced so much schadenfreude watching the nitwits Olby, piss-is-running-down-his-leg Matthews and the other crackerjacks, desperately trying to upstage Palin’s speech!!
God that was hilarious!!!
So I’m treating myself to a repeat of this history making speech…. talk to you later…
Mcguyver on September 4, 2008 at 1:19 AM
That’s classic. There is one meagerly positive vote option- yes it was effective- and 1 that attacks her for going after poor little Obambi and 1 that feeds back the Obama
campaign line about speeches written for her and teleprompters.
Damiano on September 4, 2008 at 1:19 AM
yeah, the CSPAN in this thread. Go to 3:55:30ish
jp on September 4, 2008 at 1:19 AM
correct but the peoiple who first advanced the 2 specious notions that:
1) a “community organizer” is a serious job in politics
and
2) running for the office is the same as having experience for the office
is Team Barry.
sven10077 on September 4, 2008 at 1:20 AM
2 things
1) I am very much certain that she will miss $harpton and Jack$on voting for her
2) Keef “elitist” doesn’t fit well with your “hick mayor from wasilly” mem does it?
sven10077 on September 4, 2008 at 1:21 AM
It’s obvious she appeals to the 29% who are Bush dead enders, sven.
We’ll see if she can appeal to regular Americans.
Obama currently leads McCain by about 8,000,000 votes…the polls are open.
alphie on September 4, 2008 at 1:22 AM
Roland Martin was LIVID on this one. His already protruding and red eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head. He threaten a revolt amongst the community organizer crowd and seems on the verge of threatening riots and violence.
I will see if I can find it on YouTube. It was a sight to behold.

By that argument the Dems should have chosen that other stalwart of theirs – Lyndon LaRouche. He’s run for President for decades…

Rudy just HAMMERING Baracky on his state senate no votes was comedy gold; his eyes got all big and his clawed hands…LOL.
I just wish he had worked in a line about paygrades, that would have been a killer, in fact I’m surprised no one mentioned it.
Bishop on September 4, 2008 at 1:23 AM
when Barry reads from a prompter it is “majestic-a symphony”
Palin-well she didn’t write the speech and she should have wonked out the whole time

I’m watching Rudy for the second time on MSNBC. He just beat Obama like a rug.
I watched the original on PBS. Here, somewhere in the middle, Olby “tried” to cut away for a break and the network must have cut him off because he got cut off and they never left the speech. It’s funny all the same–as if Olby were trying to unplug the sound system!

Alphie, primary votes are worthless for comparison, they aren’t even applicable to the Nov. elections. 100,000,000+ people vote in Presidential elections. Obama got slightly less than 18 Million.
Obama obviously appeals to the 10% of die-hard liberals who blindingly will vote Dem every time. My whole family (of which I am the most right-wing, to be sure) find his attitude to be of a smarmy elitist. Obama has neither the temperament or the intelligence to remove that stink from himself. He wears it proudly.
BKennedy on September 4, 2008 at 1:29 AM
Palin replay on MSNBC. Olby whining that Rudy chewed into her video time. I’m sure he was concerned.
BuckeyeSam on September 4, 2008 at 1:29 AM

Immediately 2 words came to mind…
1) SCHADENFREUDE !!!
2) MAVERICK !!!
RocketmanBob on September 4, 2008 at 1:30 AM
One he!! of a good start.
Now McCain has to step up tomorrow and then ride this horse into November.
I hope her relaxed but strong demeanor and confidence shows up in the debates as well, because there is going to be a lot riding on them.
The liberal activists in the press will go even further over the top knowing that Palin is showing the world where the soft spot is on the dragon that has become the Obama campaign.
He is nothing but a show boat American idol candidate playing the puppet for powerful leftist groups to push their
ideology with the power of the oval office.
Never in my life have I seen so much said and written about someone who has done so little.
Thank God that the GOP has someone like Palin who can show
America what a fraud Obama is without vitriol and over the top rhetoric.
Great job Barracuda!

Okay, I was getting frustrated hearing about how “Obama was a leader in getting ethics reform passed in the Senate.”
Uh no. Senate 230 was in the 2007 legislative calendar and he was one of 3 co-sponsors. It was referred to a subcommittee and never passed. Granted, Harry Reid brought a similar bill forward for Senate bill 1 in 2008, but co-sponsor Obama’s bill never even made it out of committee.
Frustrate me to no end. He has done nothing! But taken all of the credit!

Watching Larry King right now.
All his panelists are deeply committed worshipers at the church of the Obama Messiah, and are doing their best to trash Palin.
But watching King, seeing his face, hearing his voice . . . he knows that huge damage was done, and that Palin is formidable.

Correction: Harry Reid introduced his version of an ethics bill on Jan 4, 2007. Obama’s supposed claim to fame was introduced on Jan 9, 2007. His co sponsored bill never made it out of committee though. It was all talk.
