Prediction tomorrow the Obiden Camp drops the Palin experience attack and goes back to the stale McCain = Bush mantra

William Amos on September 4, 2008 at 12:22 AM

Does “Meet The Press” REALLY want to meet her?

SouthernGent on September 4, 2008 at 12:22 AM

By the way Allah, your pal Rudy gave a damn fine runner-up speech.

MadisonConservative on September 4, 2008 at 12:22 AM

How is McCain supposed to follow that?

Who write’s Obama’s speeches? The Wizard of Oz?

thecountofincognito on September 4, 2008 at 12:22 AM

But…..but…..she has a pregnant daughter! What about the HYPOCRISY?!?!

It's Vintage, Duh on September 4, 2008 at 12:22 AM

Comcast utterly failed me tonight. I lost cable and internet the moment her speech started and it came back as soon as she was finished. I would consider some sort of conspiracy but that would assume too much competence on their part.

Wow! When is the Palin Biden debate? I can’t wait!

I propose a knife fight, instead.

At least that would be more merciful to Biden.

Prediction tomorrow the Obiden Camp drops the Palin experience attack and goes back to the stale McCain = Bush mantra

William Amos on September 4, 2008 at 12:22 AM

dunno…thing is the McCain camp can safely and slowly distance themselves from the administration’s less well-recieved policies from a positon of strength now.

Nobody in their right mind will ever confuse Bush and McCain…not even on foreign policy.

sven10077 on September 4, 2008 at 12:24 AM

Great, great delivery by Palin. You have to be very comfortable with yourself, your subject and speaking to audiences to have that kind of connection with people.

She’s has a wonderful personal one-to-one style that comes across even in a huge arena. She’s talking right to you.

She’s one of the best political speakers that I’ve heard since Reagan.

I like the skirted suit style. It combines femininity with seriousness. Margaret Thatcher wore skirted suits. She was a lady and no one messed with her.

INC on September 4, 2008 at 12:24 AM

Screechy and Preachy…otherwise, not bad.

alphie on September 4, 2008 at 12:14 AM

But enough about you. I despise O’Reilly, but I have to watch tomorrow just to see the strain on Obama’s face.

sven10077 on September 4, 2008 at 12:24 AM

That is the only attack Obama has in his arsenal. He has to feed off the Bush hate.

William Amos on September 4, 2008 at 12:25 AM

The MSNBC crowd looked like they were attending a funeral. A Superstar is born and boy did we need one.

rightonamerica on September 4, 2008 at 12:23 AM

They had deluded themselves into browbeating McCain into dropping the Arctic Fox…..that would have let them coronate O’bama the next day in essence.

sven10077 on September 4, 2008 at 12:25 AM

The best line:

“To the most powerful office on earth, [John McCain] would bring the compassion that comes from having once been powerless”

That was the best part of the speech, in a speech that was filled with good things, and had no bad parts.

Still, that is the line that should be repeated over and over again.

Sackett on September 4, 2008 at 12:25 AM

The speech was well written, but there was too much sarcasm in the delivery at times. And too much self-congratulations. Came off a little bit arrogant in parts (too much patting-oneself-on-the-back), which is just what our side doesn’t need when we’re trying to contrast Obama’s notorious arrogance. Also, once was enough about the community organizer, the first time was great in its conext comparing her to being mayor, but the second time will be seen as disrespectful to Obama because she left out the fact that he is an elected Senator. I suppose that this is what VPs do, however, Guliani’s speech coming directly before I think is the better way to deliver attack lines: with a friendly chuckle.

There were some great lines, though. Loved the part about smalltown folks not liking being spoken about behind our backs. And anytime McCain was mentioned. Loved the POW tribute as well. The story that went along with that was inspiring, I hadn’t heard it before.

Aslans Girl on September 4, 2008 at 12:25 AM

Grand slam home run. Biden is sweating bullets about the debate. The elites go into another gear to try and bring her down. A new generation of conservatives are ready to carry the Reagan Banner.

The liberals are fighting for their political lives. If McCain/Palin win in November, liberalism is going down. It will show that Americans are proud of our country and are tired of same old big government spending and higher taxes.

Mallard T. Drake on September 4, 2008 at 12:26 AM

Sarah Barracuda didn’t serve up your typical red-meat faire; she served up Steak Tartare, finely filleted and with just enough spice.

Schmo on September 4, 2008 at 12:26 AM

I had to chuckle after the speech when Donna Brazil said Palin’s speech displayed “style over substance.” So sayeth a spokesperson for the candidate of style over substance.

raybaron on September 4, 2008 at 12:26 AM

Man, look for huge media coverage on Thursday of that National Enquirer report about Palin allegedly having an affair to take the focus off tonight (you know, the same way they immediately jumped on and publicized the paper’s reports about John Edwards having an affair last December).

Well…will people love Sarah Palin and optomism and a plan for the future energy needs of this nation beyond unicorn fats and tire gauges, or does the middle hate Bush more than they love the prospect of fresh growth and harder strategic thinkers?

I know what my answer is, but admittedly you know me rather well Famous…I am with Sarah.

jon1979 on September 4, 2008 at 12:26 AM

Let it…that feeds into a good scenario for us if we push Sarah in our personal outside the net lives and encourage people to watch/read the speech. The harder they try to slime her the bigger an opening they give to non-rabid partisan’s desire to see what she is about. I seriously have not, allowing for this perfomance, ever seen ANY downside to her as a pick and much upside.

The “real minds” of the party leadership made the same judgement.

William Amos on September 4, 2008 at 12:22 AM

Yep. Unless Roland Martin’s Army of Offended Community Organizers challenge Sarah Palin to a fight (I’d bet on the lady), the Democrats new motto will be “Palin who?” All that completely ludicrous Eagleton garbage was a psychopathological projection, a wish fullfilment. Except for a few truly demented cases (Andrew Sullivan?), it will be for the Democrats as if it all never occurred, and as if the Republicans haven’t even made their VP choice yet. The media won’t be able to cooperate as much as it might like to, however, because Sarah! is going to be a big tabloid seller.

Memo to Obama and the Chicago thugs: YOU WILL NOT MAKE SARAH PALIN CRY.

SouthernGent on September 4, 2008 at 12:33 AM

Great job from Sarah. No big shocker except it took at least an hour for MSM to regroup. Keith Olberdork just quoted a new AP article that made it sound like if the press should leave the kids alone than the kids shouldn’t have been on the tarmac today. Even Keith didn’t look happy about quoting it.
Life is good tonight. Let’s get ready for tomorrow because everyday it’s going to be something else.

Palin made the pillars in Rome shake with just her speech.

MadisonConservative on September 4, 2008 at 12:34 AM

The speech was well written, but there was too much sarcasm in the delivery at times. [...] Guliani’s speech coming directly before I think is the better way to deliver attack lines: with a friendly chuckle.

You can never have too much sarcasm…. Giuliani has a slight advantage in experience, but I think they’re matched in raw talent. I believe we just saw the beginning of something major.

Geraghty has the following note of caution, which we should all heed, regardless of how thrilled we all are:

Tonight, we either saw a watershed in American politics, a tour de force, the most striking and graceful debut in our nation’s political life, and a national introduction that makes Barack Obama’s 2004 convention address look like small potatoes… or we saw what we wanted to see, and the country’s persuadable independents saw something else. I’m afraid to believe. If I’m wrong, I don’t really know what Americans want.

We’ll know in a couple of days. Imagine going into the stretch run with McCain actually leading Barry in the polls.

Cicero43 on September 4, 2008 at 12:36 AM

It’s not just that Sarah Palin is funny, authentic, tough, smart, commanding, and a natural communicator. She is the accessible Everyman — or Everywoman — who seems to live the conservative middle class values that so many in the GOP hierarchy give only lip service to. She is the compelling argument against class warfare and for self-determination. She is the antithesis of the conservative straw man demonized by the left since the advent of Ronald Reagan. She is the most devastating threat to the Democratic platform in 20 years.

No wonder they are scared spitless.

This prediction already came through and Fox said precisely the same thing- stale and likely to be revised soon.

I cheered.

I suspended my boycott to watch the lefties squirm on CNN and MSNBC. Olby and whatever his ugly blonde floor lacky’s name is look and sound like they want to hang themselves. They are all but shoving negative statements in peoples mouths and getting shut down each time. Roland Martin and the angry black superdelegate woman (forget her name too) are visibly furious. Campbell Brown seems to be going out of her way to backpedal on her “unfit mom/ trash Palin’s experience” mantra.

Sarah should head up to the media booth and put them all out of their misery with a swift roundhouse kick to the head… the same kick she taught Chuck Norris.

Barack Obama’s campaign responds to Sarah Palin’s speech:

Obama Team Response:

“The speech that Governor Palin gave was well delivered, but it was written by George Bush’s speechwriter and sounds exactly like the same divisive, partisan attacks we’ve heard from George Bush for the last eight years. If Governor Palin and John McCain want to define ‘change’ as voting with George Bush 90% of the time, that’s their choice, but we don’t think the American people are ready to take a 10% chance on change,” said Bill Burton, Obama campaign spokesman.

Posted at 11:16 PM

Of course the Bush people wrote her speech bit was dutifully repeated my Obama’s media parrots as often as possible. At least AC360 and Hume had the stones to call out the blatant hypocrisy of this before returning to the same line.
