Man who ignored Palin’s status as Governor aggrieved at lack of recognition as Senator

Someone call Barack Obama a wahhhmbulance. In a statement today following Sarah Palin’s tough speech, Obama complained that she ignored the work he did as a legislator in the Illinois and US Senates (via Brian Faughnan):

This is work I did three [sic] years ago They haven’t talked about the fact that I was a civil rights lawyer. They haven’t talked about the fact that I taught constitutional law. They haven’t talked about my work in the state legislature or the United States Senate. They’re talking about the three years of work that I did right out of college, as if I’m making the leap from 2 or 3 years out of college into the presidency.

First, Barack Obama himself has held out his community-organizing work on many occasions as one of the touchstones of experience that prepares him now to be President. But more to the point, he’s also the same person who forgot that Palin has been Governor of Alaska for two years in ridiculing her as the Mayor of “Wasilly”:

BO: Well, you know, my understanding is that, uh, Governor Palin’s town of Wasilly [sic] has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we’ve got 2500, uh, in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that I’ve passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates to extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.

One more point. Sarah Palin refused to act like a victim last night, although everyone who has followed the smears and the sneers of her critics know that she certainly could have legitimately claimed that status. Palin instead answered her critics with tough criticism of their own. Obama, on the other hand, whines that he didn’t get enough respect when he himself didn’t bother to provide that respect first.

Listen, Obama, sweetie … maybe you should just get over it.

To be completely honest, I am stunned at how badly the Left has handled every single aspect of the Palin selection. They have made every single mistake I could possibly imagine and even a few I wasn;t smart enough to even imagine. Statistically, what they have accomplished (hitting every land mine) should have been impossible. They should have at least done something right….

TheBigOldDog on September 4, 2008 at 6:40 PM

If the media did its freakin’ job and went after this empty suit like they’ve gone after Palin’s CHILDREN, McCain/Palin would win with 80%+ of the vote.

Disgusting, anti-American lamestream media.

ex-Democrat on September 4, 2008 at 6:41 PM

Did you ever notice John McCain always refer to him as, Senator Obama, while he refers to his opponent as John McCain. Someone should also buy him a copy of “Elements of Style”. Today he said he didn’t think Palen would really matter as he thought it would come down to voters considering “himself and John McCain.” Do they teach grammar at Harvard?

flyoverland on September 4, 2008 at 6:41 PM

Clear sign that the narrative changed and Obama is lost. His whole story was that he was The Chosen One, the lord of Hope and Change who would bring a new bi-partisanship to the White House.

Unfortunately, he let the nutroots and MSM take control of the fight against Sarah Palin, and they opened him up to being savaged in a way that will resound in middle america, And I’m sure his internal polling (he spends millions on polling) shows that while the MSM still loves him, he’s losing the 20% or so of the voters who will decide. He’s also lost the young. They saw the enthusiasm that Sarah Palin brought and with their naturally limited attention spans are already starting to wonder why they loved Obama back in February and March. Without that groundswell of support, he falls back on the typical liberal rank and file, and even there, Sarah Palin’s husband is a union member, which will hurt him with union rank-and-file.

He really needs to get the story back to being the inevitable choice of a Democratic tsunami in Nov, but I don’t think he can anymore, and without that, at best it will be close. (I think that several states that the pollsters still show as Obama leans are now McCain leans, and McCain has likely locked in most of his leaners, and can now fight for Obama’s weaker states.)

Did you ever notice that when Obama talks about the major problems that face America, he always talks about affording education and better health-care, and he never brings up defending America against terrorists and other thugs?

Dear Barry,

While you remembered to remind voters that you taught Constitutional Law, why did you leave out your work as Chairman of the Board with the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and all the great work you did for the Woods Fund and the Joyce Foundation?

Just a friendly reminder!

I love this. Bambi and the Dems are so confused that they don’t know who they’re running against.

“Should we attack Palin even though she’s just running for veep? Well, she gob-smacked Barry, so, yeah, let’s get her. But then again, we’re not running against the GOP #2 slot, right? We hate, hate, hate Bush. That’s really the ticket because everyone hates Bush like we do. The only problem is that he’s not running for anything. So, errr…. who’s this McCain dude? Forgot about him….. He’s kind of old and inconsequential, isn’t he? Well, never mind. Let’s pick on Palin because the Repugs seem to like her… at least that’s what the last poll showed. ”

Obama is playing checkers, McCain is playing chess.

Obama makes a move, McCain/Palin counters in such a way that gets Obama to make a stupid move. We’ve seen it over and over again.

Obama mocks her term as mayor without recognizing her current term as governor.

She counters by mocking his “community organizer” days in comparison to her term as mayor.

Obama cries foul in a way that makes him look like a hypocritical crybaby.

Barry, bubbola; from the provided quote:

Didn’t you say the files were not kept? Alternatively, make them available, and we’ll start talking about them.

I bet Rezko (Convict-Ill.) will start talking too,

They haven’t talked about the fact that I taught constitutional law.”

It’s been mentioned. But you have a campaign staff and the media in your pocket … perhaps if we asked Zeus nicely for the use of his styrofoam Greek Columns again …

They haven’t talked about my work in the state legislature or the United States Senate.”

Everyone talks about it: lots of “present votes and “two memoirs” (“but not a single major law or reform – not even in the state senate” – Gov. S. P. mentioned this on TV, before about 37 million viewers).

They’re talking about the three years of work that I did right out of college, as if I’m making the leap from 2 or 3 years out of college into the presidency.”

But wait: isn’t “This is work I did three [sic] years ago”?

I’m sure she’s exceeded his expectations by a wide margin but I think it’s also true they he was thinking several moves a a head when he selected her. It was a beautiful thing to watch Govenor Palin not play a victim last night. Do any democrats ever consider that his only come back to people questioning him is whining??? It is beyond annoying. This is an excellent point that Obama makes, and we owe him the respect that his achievements deserve. So, if he would simply unshred the documentation from his time in the Illinois general assembly, and his time at Harvard Law, there are surely a number of important achievements that he could share with us.

However, up until now –

- There is no record of him having done anything at all in the Illinois general assembly, according to journalists who have inquired of the party and the campaign. Nothing. No files, no work papers, no copies of his schedule and appointments.

- There is not a single article from the Harvard Law Review that anyone has produced in support of the Senator’s work there among the best and brightest young legal minds in our educational system. Not one.

- His time in the Senate has been devoted almost entirely to running for President, despite his declaration upon election that he was simply unqualified to even think about running. Nothing there. A vote against John Roberts.

- His former law firm must surely be able to document his many wondrous victories against the forces of injustice and to the benefit of the victims of civil rights violations all over this great state. Surely.

- The radical liberals at the University of Chicago must be champing at the bit to release their treasure trove of historic writing at the august law school. Why is his campaign holding them back?!

For the benefit of his campaign, I call on his campaign to bring forth the records of his accomplishments, that they are inexplicably hiding.

They haven’t talked about the fact that I was a civil rights lawyer.

OK, let’s see your bar application and your client list.

They haven’t talked about my work in the state legislature or the United States Senate.

OK, let’s talk about it. Obama served in the Illinois Senate for seven years, he built his entire legislative record in Illinois in a single year, when Illinois Senate Majority Leader Emil Jones appointed Obama sponsor of virtually every high-profile piece of legislation, angering many rank-and-file state legislators who had more seniority than Obama and had spent years championing the bills.

In the Senate, Obama points mostly to his role in the 2007 overhaul of Congressional lobbying and ethics rules — a role he has repeatedly overstated. Indeed, Obama was called out publicly by his colleagues for trying to take undeserved credit on the recent immigration reform and housing bills.

Obama also points to the Lugar-Obama nuclear non-proliferation bill — a bill so non-controversial that it was passed into law by unanimous consent. Indeed, when not trying to take credit for the work of others, Obama’s Senate record is almost entirely minor legislation, usually passed by unanimous consent or voice vote.

Happy now, Barack?

-Aslan’s Girl

Aslans Girl on September 4, 2008 at 7:00 PM

The main argument against Obama and his “Community Organizer” job is that he’s NEVER said what he ever did.

He was working with ACRN – the ‘group’ caught forging voter registrations and nabbed for voter fraud. THAT’S why he never mentions it.

If Obama came out and explained what he did (he won’t), it would stop all this. The problem is, he doesn’t want people to know.

Obama was not one of the people out there looking to help people find jobs, he was just there to enlarge voter rolls with a group convicted of voter fraud.
He was political operative – organizing the people in a community to support the local candidate/organization he was working for.
Community organizing in Chicago is old-fashioned, bare-knuckle politics for the little guy.

Community organizing is an entry-level job into the corrupt political machines that tend to dominate politics on a municipal or regional level. Through community organizing, novice pre-politicians gain experience in keeping people helpless and paranoid. Only by proving themselves through top-notch community organizing can these wanna-be politicians gain access to more lucrative opportunities such as sitting on boards to distribute other people’s money to political allies. The best community organizers are given opportunities to run for office, where their prime responsibility is to compliantly do the bidding of the party bosses.

OK. I’m going to be the bad guy and state the obvious, at least what has always been obvious to me about Obama.

Barry seems to think that his “work”, his “efforts” somehow translate into an acceptable platform for national election. They do not.

Anyone who researched Obama after the 2004 Dem convention, knowing that he would be one of their up and coming stars would have found, as I did after only a few hours of digging, that Obama should never, ever be seriously considered for POTUS

His “base” is the South Side of Chicago. And it’s not only the South Side of Chicago, it’s Chicago with all the accompanying sleaze and slime that those of us with a Midwestern background can understand.

Take the TUCC for example. They have scrubbed their website, but when I first looked at it in 2005 I was not shocked. It only confirmed what I already suspected. There was really no surprise with the TUCC philosophy given its location and demographic. I know a bit about Black Liberation Theology. What was a surprise to me later was the notion that Obama and his supporters could hope to translate his experience into something acceptable to mainstream America.

Obama truly is a media creation. He is a Soros, Lewis, et al creation which only points out the lunacy of the Left. They hoped to present the American public with the image of something they couldn’t refuse because of their guilt, “America’s Original Sin”.

Well, what the spin meisters didn’t factor in is that millions of Americans are tired of being brow-beaten, and most of us feel no guilt. We’re not buying into the tired theme of paying for the past.

When this election is over I’m looking forward to Soros and his pals claiming that they will never, ever bother with politics again as they did in 2004. They will, and I’ll look for them the next time around.

So, go Sarah! Talk to the American people, ALL of them, every single one. We’re proud, and we’re not stepping down for Obama.

Observations

No humor
No smile!
Extremely Defensive

Actually, they took it easy on him last night. For example, there is one other little difference between a mayor and a “community organizer”…a mayor has an opportunity to stand for re-election, and be accountable for her achievements.

And at the end of the day, McCain/Biden will win this election on their combined records of accountability over the years. That is, if they even need to go there…based on this little impromptu interaction, Obama may melt down before Election Day…and then we’ll be asking:

“Who’s Eagleton now?”

The Wild Duck on September 4, 2008 at 7:16 PM

So — my secularist conservative allies — have you yet noticed how SATANIC the whole donk attack meme is?
I find very humorous how the secularist MSM is clueless on Palin’s positions. They literally do not understand them.
(a) They thought so called “Christian Conservatives” would condemn her for her daughters unmarried pregnancy. Which shows they are totally clueless on the Christian concept of sin.
(b) They stomped her for her hair style, mooseburgers, and “white trash” snowmobile racing husband. Which shows they are foolish urbanites who think food is made by magic and plastic wrapped for the store.

So this is “helping” the people? Turning the neighborhood into vacant lots? Turning South Chicago into the Bronx, circa 1970? Yet, Obama’s main meme is that he worked so hard to help the people, citing images of food kitchens, and all sorts of rehabilitative efforts?

BTW, saw this this morning. Seems like Obama’s district has turned into a combat zone reminiscent of Baghdad circa 2003.

Yet, Obama has the audacity to base his entire run for the White House on this success story? And nearly half the Electorate has the stupidity to believe him?

Cicero43 on September 4, 2008 at 8:13 PM

We have all been starving for a conservative somewhere to stand up and turn on a light! Finally, one did!
What is so great about Palin, is that she has reminded us, that one does not have to have a Harvard degree, one does not have to be accepted and anointed by the mainstream media, one does not have to come from New York or Boston or be from the right family to shake things up. Palin is proof that in America ordinary people can shape a nation. She is just a mom who started down this road because she cared about her kids education. She wasn’t satisfied with leaving everything up to the experts. She took her parental responsibility seriously.
The threat she poses to the liberal elites goes beyond this election. The threat is also about the example she sets that others may be inspired to follow.
Like little Dorothy pulling the curtain away to reveal the inept man behind the image of the mighty Wizard, she has stripped liberal elites naked for all to see.
Mighty liberal walls and fortifications crumbled last night. They crumbled not by some mighty army, but, by a mother. Just a mother who cared enough about her kids education to get involved, to show up and to speak out.
.

JellyToast on September 4, 2008 at 8:15 PM

It’s amazing. John McCain has been at the center of all kinds of masterful maneuvers in the Senate (Example: I still believe that Roberts and Alito would have been much harder to confirm without the horribly-named “Gang of 14″ deal.)

And he managed to fight his way back from nearly dead in the Republican primaries all the way to a stunning victory.

And I still didn’t expect him to be playing the game at this level.

Another thing he and Palin have in common: they are consistently underestimated.

You and a couple of others have done a fine job of giving Osama Obama a few points to ponder.

May I, in the spirit of the current Democrat lust to look inside Sarah Palin’s dresser drawers (figuratively, if not literally) may I add a postscript?

Senator (part-time) Obama,

Would you please respond to the following:

1. One of the first attacks on Palin when she was chosen (now apparently dead due to lack of anyone who would anonymously confirm it) related to marijuana use. Would you tell us the last date you used illegal substances, as you have admitted you did? Blood test results to confirm, please;

2. Your people have attacked Palin’s ties to some off-center Alaskan political party. Would you please discuss your own ties to political figures Ayers, Dohrn and Razko?

3. Some of your followers attack Palin for her religious convictions, would you please discuss your relationship with “Minister” Farrakhan and Rev. Wright.

Yours for accuracy,

MrScribbler on September 4, 2008 at 8:52 PM

Hey Obama, it’s been what, two years now? Aren’t you due for another autobiography?
Cicero43 on September 4, 2008 at 8:13 PM

Well, since Obama is gaining presidential experience while he’s running for president …. apparently, he might just come out with a new book that will be published on the day he is sworn into office by the honorary chief justice Jeremiah Wright. It’s titled: I didn’t lose the presidency to John McCain. But if I did, here’s how I did it.

wise_man on September 4, 2008 at 9:00 PM

Hey, Barry? I’m crying on the inside for you.

Perhaps the Obamanation missed Rudy’s speech where Rudy acknowledged his State Senate career 130 PRESENT votes. The only thing Rudy didn’t hit was Obama’s infanticide protection vote. Surely Obama doesn’t want to go there but he’s so stupid or arrogant he just may do so.

eaglewingz08 on September 4, 2008 at 9:13 PM

Arrogance…

d1carter on September 4, 2008 at 9:45 PM

You realize, if Obama had taken the time to run for and serve as Governor before trying for President, he might be in good shape. As it is, he has no experience to point to.

I find it interesting that so many of the candidates running for the Democratic nomination ran for the Senate purely as a stepping stone to run for President. (Hillary, Edwards, and Obama: all 3 were clearly not interested in serving as Senator) Their own ambition to reach the Presidency with thin experience seems to be helping the presidency to stay in Republican hands.

Kind of reminds me of Pat Robertson who jumped into politics by running for the Leader of the Free World. You would think he would have tried to start as Representative or Senator, preferably at the state level.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, has really started at the bottom and worked her way up: PTA, City Council, Mayor, executive branch of Alaska government, then governor.

There’s way too much hype around about Sarah Palin right now, but even her detractors ought to admit she’s had an impressive career up to this point. How many times does someone run for governor against an incumbent from their own party, and win?

OMG I could not believe the double talk in here. Lets start with his claim they are not talking about his accomplishments in the US Senate. Here is the list Bills and resolutions Sen. Obama has sponsored and take note of the ones that pass and the rest that were not even worth of a vote.

http://www.opencongress.org/people/sponsoredbills/400629_barack_obama

Heck lets give him credit, he got resolutions like:

S.Res.268 A resolution designating July 12, 2007, as “National Summer Learning Day”.

passed :-)

Forget get the PR “I co-sponsored” a bill records because co-sponsors have noting to do with the drafting and language of a bill but just decide after reading it they will jump on board. There is no “accomplishment” doing that.

Then he get hit with comparing her accomplishments to his by the reporter and he throws back at the reporter by stating it is not Gov. Palin he is running against, but Sen. McCain. I guess Sen. Obama forgot WHO brought up comparing his accomplishments to Gov. Palin or is Sen. Obama short term memory completely shot now?

I must say that I enjoyed that post!

Stevel on September 4, 2008 at 11:47 PM

One thing the selection of Sarah Palin has done, which is not to be underestimated, is completely swiped the “fresh face” mantle. I’ve never liked Barack Obama, but today, now, more than ever, he just looks old and bitter.

The average person can’t help but compare and contrast… he is no longer the fresh faced cherub, next to the old tried politicians… Hillary, then McCain. He’s familiar. And he looks tired. And angry.

Many of us have always seen him as angry… but “undecideds” are automatically going to have a different subliminal take on the guy, when compared to the vibrant Republican star. It’s going to hurt and hurt bad.
