Gee… in 18 months of Obama gaining his vast executive experience to President the media and singularly avoided ANYTHING about his background. But since he’s been on Meet the Press, he’s fine.

Obama was supposed to be a “transformational” candidate. But he turned out to be conventional with transformational packaging. Palin is truly transformational. And she, like Reagan, is likely to change what “conservative” means in a significant way. Along with this change would be the possibility that people who could never have imagined themselves as conservatives before, will be able to see themselves as conservatives, once they’ve seen what the mantle of conservativism looks like, as worn by Sarah Palin. In ed school I learned this term “possible selves.” It is used in finding ways to show students the many different selves that they might become. Many don’t need this sort of thing, but some do. I would say the same is true in our society, where a benighted educational system, and stunted intellectual exchange (stunted by things like PC, and the relentless distortion of reality by the MSM), have left many people yellow dog Democrats, who by their natures ought to be conservative Republicans. When Sarah Palin shows them, by example—that being an evangelical Christian doesn’t mean you’ve checked your brains at the church door, that being a conservative doesn’t mean you hate gays, or blacks, or anyone else a priori for that matter, that being a Republican doesn’t mean you are rich fat cat—then some of those who thought they were yellow dog Democrats will be saying, “You mean THAT’S what it is to be a Republican? Hey, I can get to that. And

I forgot they support Palin’s right to run without enduring sexist treatment…Even if they qualify it by asserting that her beliefs will spell the end of enlightened, multicultural, and diverse society…

Well if that’s the case, I CAN’T WAIT !

You know that Obama is suddenly running TV ads about abortion? Do you think they had planned to do that when this campaign started? They are scared sh!tless about Sarah Palin. For years, liberals have been able to scare women and convince them that pro-life politicians are either men who do not know what it is like to have an unplanned pregnancy, or women who were so wealthy or “kept” by their husbands that they could not understand either. Sarah Palin just completely screws their narrative.

Campbell Brown of CNN wonders why the campaign did not let the media vet Palin before. Since when does the media vet candidates!! They are beside themselves–McCain threw them for a loop.

I know O’Reilly isn’t popular here, but he did a total takedown of Sally Quinn on the same subject last night. And he did ask why the media have not vetterd Barack Obama.

Wasn’t that part of his belief that the state is the parent? As for today’s reality, current tax policy (and the wants of most consumers) cannot abide a single-income household.

I mention this because one aspect that has been little noticed is part of that narrative is the assertion that having an inconvenient pregnancy does not destine a women to a life unfulfilled. The asserted truth shouted from the roof tops for decades has been that becoming pregnant at any time other than the precise timing a woman decides, will leave the woman with career lost, plans put on hold, achievements postponed and prosperity forever denied.

This, of course, was partly true, but only so in the matter of society’s having been accustomed, for the most part, in traditional roles of women. Those radical feminists who wanted to change that tradition used their fight against it to assert that abortion of an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy was the only way to break off the traditional barriers and prevent the loss of the career, plans, achievements and prosperity. For whatever individual or collective reasons, they meant to implant this as a truth and largely succeeded.

Sarah Palin has shown it is not a truth. Abortion is not a necessity. Career, plans, achievements, and prosperity can still be had with children in tow and, though life will be different, it will still be grand. Hillary may be the most visible woman now to have added millions of cracks in the glass ceiling in society, but Sarah is going to put millions of cracks in the mirror society holds up for women now. She will change attitudes and possibly a great many votes this election.

The so-called 4th Estate has an important role to play in our country–ergo the various shield laws that protect reporters in some ways from having to reveal confidential sources. If the media is not corrupted, they report/reveal/expose what our government is up to. How else would we know?

So Brown wants the traditional role respected. The problem is, of course, is that the media is corrupted, beyond repair, and doesn’t deserve the respect and role they were previously allowed. She won’t acknowledge that, but many have already voted on that issue by abandoning tv and newspapers.

Others have already, and rightly, pointed out that this election is Republicans vs. MSM. It will be stunningly beautiful to see them lose (Barack Obama’s fate doesn’t interest me at all.)

Of course, they aren’t running against each other, though you would be hard-pressed to notice that in most mainstream media/liberal blogosphere reactions to her speech last night. Jonathan Alter of Newsweek tries to argue that Obama’s longer exposure…
