RNCC, Day 3: The Ustream feed and chat room, plus Alert the Media!

posted at 7:45 pm on September 3, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Once again, through the magic of my partners at Ustream, Hot Air readers can watch the entire event live right here on this blog. The show starts at about 8 pm ET/7 pm CT, so be sure to get the stream going and keep it live right on your browser:

Free video streaming by Ustream

And we will open the chat room again, too, since it proved so popular last night. I’ll be in and out, and this time I’ll try to get a moderator assigned as soon as possible:

I’ll be broadcasting, live, from Radio Row between 8 – 10 pm CT tonight at AM 1280 The Patriot. Tune in on the stream to hear Mitch Berg, King Banaian, and me discuss the speeches in real time!

Thank you! Ustream is very cool–I’ve never seen it before it came to HotAir.

I should mention I don’t have TV and haven’t for years (no I don’t hate TV, I just don’t have one. I am Amish. Shhh, don’t tell the elders I am using a computer…).

GO SARAH!

Knock it out of the park. Don’t worry about Keith O… he won’t like you anyway. You won’t get the tingle up the leg from Matthews either..

The Sarah Palin bikini pics have finally been located.

Does anyone else have trouble with ustream dying after a couple of minutes?

DaveS on September 3, 2008 at 7:55 PM

Chris Matthews is unhinged today.

CanadianGuy on September 3, 2008 at 7:55 PM

What venue does everyone recommend? I have been watching Fox for the coverage but I am not happy about O’Reilly interviewing Chicagobama on McCain’s night.

AAAAAAAAAAACK. Why can’t it be 4:30 already!!!!
Alaska time people, Alaska time.

upinak on September 3, 2008 at 7:58 PM

Does it have to stay on top or something?

DaveS on September 3, 2008 at 7:59 PM

I need some online streaming video for Palin that doesn’t crash. UStream and MSNBC, both, crash arbitrarily for me.

DaveS on September 3, 2008 at 8:00 PM

I go C-Span…no interfering talking heads, just me evaluating the speeches myself. Don’t that make the pundits heads espolde!

THIS is the convention lineup tonight???

8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Speaker: Former Gov. Mitt Romney (Mass.)
Speaker: Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (Ark.)

Really? Lingle? THAT’s your intro? You have a former baptist preacher, the guy who brought down the NY mob, and one of the most telegenic pols in history…… and we pick….. the rather ‘average’ speaker Lingle as the lead-in????????????????????/

GIMME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!

carbon_footprint on September 3, 2008 at 7:57 PM

I just saw that and am so disgusted, I understand the disrespect from Obama, but it seems to be that Bill O’Reilly is really about Bill O Reilly I hope he takes a hit in viewer numbers. Bill’s the only show I refuse to watch on Fox to begin with, and if it weren’t for Brit I would block the entire channel.

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 8:08 PM

The Sarah Palin bikini pics have finally been located.

For a second there I thought you were going to have some cheap photoshop pic, but wow I can’t believe someone finally located these.

battleoflepanto1571 on September 3, 2008 at 8:07 PM

You must have missed the rather obvious title and gender of Lingle, as well as the state she represents.

Perfect choice in so many ways.

Me, either. But Bill lost all credibility with me last year when he refused to stand up for Michelle against Geraldo Rivera’s despicable comments.

Dariaanne on September 3, 2008 at 8:15 PM

I just muted FOX because Bill O. is now on the air. May switch over to C-SPAN because, aside from Brit Hume and Bill Kristol, my patience has worn thin with the panel, too!

Dariaanne on September 3, 2008 at 8:17 PM

Is Sally Quinn serious? She can’t possibly be this stupid.

SouthernGent on September 3, 2008 at 8:17 PM

carbon_footprint on September 3, 2008 at 8:21 PM

battleoflepanto1571 on September 3, 2008 at 8:14 PM

Yes. Female, governor, from Baracky’s home state and it’s not as if they are going to take a two hour break between Rudy and Lingle. Lingle will come in as Rudy leaves, the crowd sufficiently fired up by RG and knowing that Lingle will be presenting Palin.

Man, I just got goosebumps thinking about that, the Xcel Center is going to be frickin’ RUMBLING when Palin appears. There is nothing in the world quite like a convention center packed with pissed-off, energized people.

Bishop on September 3, 2008 at 8:23 PM

I thought the only time I would miss having TV was on NFL game days and when Arizona State plays…

Who knew?

Oh well, Dishnet prolly can’t be out and intall in the nest half hour…so Thanks again for this feed.

Duane1947 on September 3, 2008 at 8:26 PM

O’Reilly, Hannity, most all of them have lost me when they started shifting from discussing the news to being icons and firebrands that we should watch just for their histrionics.

Even before the Malkin/Geraldo incident (which did finally make me conclude that Fox News had as little credibility as the rest), I got sick of the loudmouth blowhards yelling over each other and shouting each other down with witty one-liners.

Michelle was always appreciated, and I get her views from the web now. I respect the opinion of a very few others and find that my blood pressure is much calmer now that I have taken to ignoring the screeching media.

Of course, HotAir and especially AllahPundit will be a daily read; they respect their members.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 8:34 PM

Thanks for the live link Michelle, Allah and Ed. It is really appreciated.

I think Michael Steele is the best speaker yet!

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:00 PM

Oh sure, now that we have karioke out here, you guys show up.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:01 PM

Ha! I love Steele’s “Drill,baby, drill!” line!

Put that to some Barry White and there you are.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:02 PM

Michael Steele is the future of our party.

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:03 PM

I WILL be supporting this man o’ Steele when he runs for President.

He IS the real deal.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:04 PM

Ha! I love Steele’s “Drill,baby, drill!” line!

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:05 PM

I love you too, PiggieSez.

’sides, we can see what we’re saying out here…nothing gets lost in the scroll.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:06 PM

Tonight speakers sure are on fire compared to last night! Fred nor Joe impressed me last night, so far the previous few speakers seem to have fire in their belly I hope this is indicitive of Palin’s speech.

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:11 PM

The problem with McCain/Palin, if they truly are reformers (and I have no reason to doubt them yet) I fear that if they are elected, that they will be smothered and shut down by both of the entrenched power structures.

Corruption-comfortable Republicans and Democrats in Washington will work together to stonewall any effort to cut into their gravy trains.

If McCain/Palin gets in and if they can resist being stifled or bought off, maybe we’ll have a chance to get our government back or at least on track.

Makes me want it. I know it ain’t coming from Obama/Biden.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:15 PM

I’ll say this about all of the spittin’ and cussin’ over both Mr. McCain and Mrs. Palin…like an old friend of mine has said for a great many years, “They must be alright, all the wrong people hate them.”

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:18 PM

Ha! “Build the Fence” sign waving in the crowd!

Read that John McCain! Please!

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:19 PM

McCain picked up 2 points in Gallup. The tide is starting to turn….Go Palin…..

unseen on September 3, 2008 at 9:19 PM

Barry White and Micheal Steele.

MAGIC.

I needed RITALIN to keep up in the chat…but it was FUUUUUUUUUN!!!

seejanemom on September 3, 2008 at 9:20 PM

I appreciate this about Mrs. Palin subjecting herself to this mess;

even if they lose, they provided a great service.

Never has the bias in media been more blatent. Never have so many RINOS and false friends been so exposed. Republicans who were phonies are showing their true colors.

This is a good thing.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:22 PM

Texan
I see your point but I am gonna be more optimistic that the GOP will take this as a lesson if they are elected Republicans have no reason to win this election if they do, that is saying alot about McCain/Palin! I think it is funny they hijacked(justifiably) the term reform(change) from the dems it is what the public will be DEMANDING when they win so any corrupt republican represenative should rethink before stonewall this team.
But this is just my lil opinion. I will say having heard Steele and Romney tonight I feel good about the future as a republican.

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:24 PM

This convention is proving one thing…us white folks can’t dance for diddly.

Well, some are getting their groove thang on, but for he most part, it’s like watching your folks dance to your music. Kinda cringe-y.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:24 PM

I tell you, Lady Piggie, I got this growing pit of excitement in my belly too. I pray you are right and the party takes this as a sign of what the people really want.

You may be right.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:26 PM

Okay, Huck’s funny.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:27 PM

LOL I myself can dance have won contests. However you are correct it is funny watching them.

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:27 PM

I can only dance with lovely ladies such as yourself. I stand in the middle and kinda bop to the beat while you ladies swirl and dance around me. When we’re done, people tell me, “I didn’t know you could dance so good!”

Having just written that, I wonder if that doesn’t have some bearing on the McCain/Palin ticket?

Maybe she gives him some perceived “moves” we failed to notice before?

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:30 PM

The Huckster must be under the weather today.

He was a much better speaker during the primaries.

Elizabetty on September 3, 2008 at 9:32 PM

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:43 PM

Good to see Huck swallow his pride and then nail that speech for the team.

darclon on September 3, 2008 at 9:45 PM

I like how they totally own the supposed “negatives” in Mrs. Palin’s background. These are just the things that happen to families, we aren’t all Brady Bunch zombies. They ain’t hiding anything and ain’t apologizing for anything either.

This is what I like about her. She is more real than the polished phonies we usually get to choose from.

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:46 PM

I would like to trade up my Gov. Crist for this woman!

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:54 PM

PiggieSez on September 3, 2008 at 9:59 PM

Ha! “Punch the Midget”!

That used to cost an extra $20.00 a long time ago, to get her to “punch the midget”….

just sayin’

Texan on September 3, 2008 at 9:59 PM

OMG we need a thread for the Ustream comments alone! Comedy Gold.

The cameras were on Todd Palin and one poster typed: “Can’t wait until Todd becomes the First Dude of America.

Hah! Comedy Gold! Or maybe my idea of funny isn’t so refined…
