Giuliani: Just give her a chance, for god’s sake

In which Rudy voices to the second-most frequent reaction to the Palin pick by conservatives. Two clips for you here actually, the common thread being his very cynical suggestion that our caring media doesn’t really give a wet shinola about Palin’s kids being neglected while she’s on the trail or else they would have made the same point about Obama’s daughters once or twice during the past 18 months. (Maybe they’re just racist?) “Where are the feminists?” he asks in the second clip, a good question that can, thankfully, be ignored given that he’s both male and conservative(-ish) and therefore lacking — or almost lacking — the authenticity needed to challenge the sisterhood on this point. Although if he’s sincerely looking for lefty feminists willing to defend Palin, he can start right here.

Gotta say: I don’t know whether it’s something specific to Rudy or just my own doubts about whether Palin’s not ready, but the first two minutes or so of the ABC clip are singularly unconvincing. Especially the unblinking assertion about her being president on 9/11. Click the image to watch.

Governor Palin needs to do well tonight. I suspect she will. The question of whether or not it will be portrayed positively by the MSM I leave as an exercise to the read- who am I kidding? They’ll say that she’s an inexperienced, inbred country bumpkin.

I’m quite interested to see what the polls show come next Monday. The game was essentially tied going into the donkey convention. Obambi gained a 4-5 point bounce, taking the same number of points away from McCain. Let’s say that McCain gets a 5 point bounce this week and is up 2%-4% early next week. Expect the shinola to really hit the fan in the MSM. Headlines like the following will abound:

1) Sarah Palin eats live babies for breakfast!

2) Zodiac Killer found in Juneau?

I’ve long been opposed to a Maverick presidency. Palin is the only thing that’s actually making me consider voting for the GOP ticket this fall. Well, that and the possibility of showing the BS merchants in the MSM and Democratic party [redundancy alert!] that the people are actually in charge.

One final thought: I’m actually worried at what a complete Dem takeover in DC would portend for this country. Extremely worried. When the Democrats won big after Watergate, a large number of the Dems were fairly sane. Not so anymore. Giving unfettered power to that group seems like a suicidal choice for the country. And I’m amazed that it’s a strong possibility.

Go, Sarah. Kick some ass tonight. Make Eeyore and the rest of us proud.

Or the fact that Nancy Pelosi has 5 kids and left her house to run the house. Notice the GOP never attacked her for that.

Or that Biden neglected his 2 little boys, ages 3 years and 2 years, recovering both from the death of their mother and baby sister in a car crash and their own serious injuries from the crash.

Or, that Michele Obama chose to keep her job in her high powered law firm and board at U of C instead of staying at home with her two little girls.

At least the Palin children have one stay at home parent.

Also, I love how they say she should stay home and raise her 5 children. Hello!!! One is an adult and in Iraq. Another is ready to get married and will be moving to her own home. The nutroots/msm is all about lies, spin, exaggeration etc.

Be very worried.

The Dems with all three branches of government and the MSM as their lickspittle errand boys?

Juggernaut.

Anyone who thinks that it will be a cakewalk to pry the power from their hands at that point, is delusional.

These are not ethical people. These are not moral people. These are not intelligent people.

Democrats are power hungry and if they have enough time, they will rig it so that this is a one-party government. No doubt about it.

If you sit at home, you’re in essence voting for Democrat one-party rule. If you throw your vote away on Bob Barr, you are in essence voting for one-party Democrat rule.

There. Now maybe people will shut the hell up about Allah’s capitalization, dreariness, criticisms, doubts, and every other possible attack they seem to be levying upon him.

Rather ironic that people are expressing rage over the way the media is treating Palin, while treating AllahP(And now Ed too) in much the same fashion.

MadisonConservative on September 3, 2008 at 2:31 PM

I must admit to also being surprised when on reading last night’s family feud centered around Allah, so many people were comparing him and Ed…to me quite unnecessary and quite ill mannered.

Hey, I didn’t know OBiden sold ice cream. Maybe we should be hearing a little about his families business dealings.

LOL, that brings back a memory: When I was a kid, the “ice cream man” got into a little trouble for selling something not on the sign… I think they were called “dime bags”.

electric-rascal on September 3, 2008 at 2:57 PM

And Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn wrote: “Of course, women can be good mothers and have careers at the same time. I’ve done both. Other women in public office have children…but…a mother’s role is different from a father’s.”

The message? Sarah Palin: bad mother.

On that count we have no doubt these accusations would never be made about a man.

I saw Quinn running her mouth yesterday on CNN about Governor Palin’s family responsibilities. Where does Sally Quinn get her moral authority to talk about anyone else’s family? Why wasn’t she more concerned about family when she was a Washington Post columnist and she was having an adulterous affair with her then-boss (and now husband), the married-with-children Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee? I bet the first Mrs. Bradlee would have a few things to say about Sally Quinn and her moral high horse on “family” matters. What a hypocrite.

And why do we continuously have those beurocrates running the country? Aren’t they supposed to support the top WH executive decisions? Serve the President, not the other way around?

Sir Napsalot on September 3, 2008 at 2:45 PM

That’s one key to being a successful executive–being able to ride herd over the cabinet, communicate strategy, resolve conflicts, snuff out petty fueds, fire the underperformers. The President needs to be sharp enough to know when the advice he is getting is good and when it isn’t.

At some point voters will make this decision about Palin. It won’t be tonight, but maybe during a future interview where she’ll, hopefully, convey that she is a quick study with a sharp mind who can call BS on guys who are expert in their areas.

I think if she was a he and a tough one at that, the perception of her readiness would be quite different. I smell a subtle sexism here. Compared to Barack Obama — ready for 9/11? — she is a veteran statesman.

“Compared to Barack Obama — ready for 9/11?”

I’m sure Barry will hearken back to his days on the Harvard Law Review and his days as a Community Organizer, to pull us through the inevitable Obama 9/11.

One time at the Harvard Law Review, someone spilled coffee on an article, right before they went to press.

And as a Community Organizer, Barry organized bums to protest for more freebies. That kind of skill will be invaluable.

Giuliani is doing a good job here. McCain is fortunate to have so many passionate, intelligent and articulate supporters.

I just wish that he would have brought up Obama’s lack of travel also. Obama’s lack of travel retort is so obvious.

But hey, who am I but a “dumb alaskan hick”, right?

upinak on September 3, 2008 at 2:41 PM

They are saving her good stuff for the debates. When Biden begins pontificating about his foreign experience…has he faced the Russians and told them to back off? Well the routine of an Alaskan Governor is to keep those jackals off of our fishing grounds. They are constantly probing our defenses up there, looking for a weakness. Biden faces our enemy from 6,000, Palin faces our enemy’s from 60 miles.
Alaska is our first defense against Russia, Delaware is not.

“The next attorney general of the United States.”

You can bet the organized crime unit known as the Democrat Party is shaking in their shoes over that prospect.

Guiliani busted the mob in NYC, he sure as hell can put on trial and convict all of the criminals running around the DNC.

Absolutely. Rick Steves has all of the answer. I used his book to find a potty near the Pantheon in Rome.

When are the women of the Democratic party going to realize they are the ones being controlled by the men of their own party? I have heard over the past several days liberal female commentators from the media saying that the Hillary voters will not come over and vote for Sarah Palin and John McCain because of the abortion issue.

Ladies, I got news for you. The main reason the men of the Democratic party keep tossing out “But they will overturn Roe v. Wade” when they think you might be wandering away from the party line is because those same men are irresponsible and selfish, and they want to have their cake and eat it, too, if you get my meaning. If you have an abortion, they don’t have to pay child support. Think about it. It’s not you or your reproductive rights they really care about. It’s their wallet! Really, why should they? It’s a free love world now. Who cares what you do as far as they’re concerned? Plus there’s the “I don’t want a commitment, get married” thing too. And you fall for it every time. You’re the ones that are being subjugated by men, not conservative women. And, no, I’m not saying every man is like that. I’m not attacking all men, just the Democratic party men who are so concerned that you don’t lose your right to abort their baby.

The second part of this theme is that, more likely than not, with all of the problems in this country and around the world, the last thing McCain and Palin are going to do when they get into office is try to overturn Roe v. Wade. That’s just silly! There are too many more important things to accomplish. I’m not belittling the whole issue of abortion here. What I’m trying to get across is you are being used, and you don’t even realize it. But we out here who watch and listen, we know. We see it. Start thinking about your country with your minds and not your reproductive organs for a change.

lsbblack on September 3, 2008 at 7:35 PM

Joy Behar needs, among other things, to get her facts straight. Which party is for abortion?????
Most conservatives are against abortion in any case, maybe she should listen to the tapes that were released not too long ago about a reporter calling a planned parenthood to give money before she opens her mouth and inserts her foot.
Conservatives are also anti-women, right???? I must have missed who nominated a women for the VP.
