Video: “How can a woman run a state and bring up … five children at the same time?”

This should go a long way towards redeeming Trotta on the left for once joking about Obama being assassinated. They’re arguing at cross-purposes here: Kelly’s clearly right in principle that the argument’s sexist but Trotta’s point is that whether it is or not, some voters are going to be persuaded by it and act accordingly. Probably true, but is she sure they’re conservatives? As Goldstein notes, the “new feminism” takes a dim view of Republican women straying too far from the nursery.

trolls operate under “true until proven false” methodology

Grue in the Attic on September 2, 2008 at 4:57 PM

But they’re such FUN!!!! I love their fantasies.

LOL

Well whatever floats your boat.

To call others “dummies” on a blog is the easiest and most ‘curageous’ thing in today’s e-world.

The Race Care, whether you are a monologue, a duologue, or a dialogue, all among yourselves (you and you, and sometimes a third you), you’re always fun :)

Entelechy on September 2, 2008 at 5:05 PM

Gee, I wonder why Gallup has Obama now winning by 8 points. His likly voting scenario is at its strongest point. Allyrs, its on Drudge right now.

Gee, I wonder what happened? Maybe the prospect of a 72 year old man picking the undeniably unqualified Mayor Palin as his VP had something to do with it?

Ya think???

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 5:10 PM

Maybe somebody needs to remind that 8% that is now supporting Obama that although Palin doesnt have any relevant experience or knowledge…she is TOUGH AS NAILS!!!

That’ll do the trick. Yay! Go McCain. I heard he was a POW.

Sad, but funny….but very sad.

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 5:13 PM

Well how the hell did we win WWII, exactly?

Sir Andrew on September 2, 2008 at 5:16 PM

Wow. That was some real bigotry on display.

AbaddonsReign on September 2, 2008 at 5:18 PM

By the way, Liz (Trotta), how did Mitt Romney run a state and raise his five children?

Oh, he’s a man, that explains it.

Steve Z on September 2, 2008 at 5:25 PM

Roger Waters even gives trolls a bad name. What a puke!

Buford Gooch on September 2, 2008 at 5:25 PM

“By the way, Liz (Trotta), how did Mitt Romney run a state and raise his five children?

Oh, he’s a man, that explains it.”

I know that I have heard Mitt refer to how wonderfully his wife raised his children. She did a hell of a job, I bet. I bet she knew where the were and stuff.

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 5:29 PM

I call on Governor Granholm to resign. For the sake of Cecelia and little Jack.

CourtZero on September 2, 2008 at 5:45 PM

Wow, Roger Waters. You are unbelievable. If you are voting for McCain how about a little support?

By the way, my mom watched over me, I couldnt date until I was 18 and guess what? I had a little too much fun with a bad boy, but here we are married 16 years later with beautiful wonderful kids. I hope you are as supportive as my mom and family were for me.

God Bless GOVERNOR Palin and her family and Senator McCain and his.

If you are a conservative middle-aged father why do you use the parlance of a teenager?

Disturb the Universe on September 2, 2008 at 5:53 PM

but we agree it was a political choice, not a meritocracy choice. That is good enough for me.

I just have to laugh at the dummies here who actually think McCain chose Palin for reasons not political (she is tough as nails etc).

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 4:56 PM

No, we don’t agree, Roger. McCain might have chosen her for political reasons, but he stumbled upon something real. And yes, she is as tough as nails.

Go look at the tracking device for your daughters you are “watching like a hawk” sir — oops — maybe one just slipped away? (And, BTW, if you are watching them like hawks, expect them to hate you for it, down the road.)

Nichevo on September 2, 2008 at 5:55 PM

Nichevo, believe as you will.

So you dont believe parents should be watching their underage chilren like hawks?? My wife and I do….which is why the self-described “bad-boy” hockey player that was just kicked out of his last high school wont get anywhere near my daughter…unlike Palin’s daughter.

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 6:00 PM

And sure, sometimes my girls would rather they do as they please, but they will thank my wife and I for our strict upbringing down the road. And they will hopefully also watch their children like hawks and on and on and on…

“why do you use the parlance of a teenager?”

Just a clever stylistic technique. Much more clever than saying *eats*. Thats for sure.

Where does this Liz chick live? What conservatives does she know? I bet…ZERO.

I do not know the context of this statement, but holy christ what adult COULD POSSIBLY BELIEVE MEN AND WOMEN ARE THE SAME??? O well ok a leftie could be that nieve I spose.

allrsn on September 2, 2008 at 3:38 PM

Did you listen to the segment? That’s where the issue came up. Geez.

Againfolks, Liz Trotta is not a liberal and she has a regular segment on FOX News every Sunday morning where she regularly criticizes the MSM for its liberal bias. Just because someone disagrees with you on a single issue does not magically turn them into a liberal.

baldilocks on September 2, 2008 at 6:29 PM

I certainly hope that you’re joking.

baldilocks on September 2, 2008 at 6:30 PM

the prospect of a 72 year old man

What is it with these dementia and death wishes wishes for old people?

Do you have no decency, no respect for life?

Loxodonta on September 2, 2008 at 6:31 PM

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 6:00 and 6:01 PM

So, Roger, where’s the trust? If you raised them right, why do they have to be monitored “like hawks?”

Teenagers put a whole lot of store in “trust.” The more you “watch like hawks,” the more you signal that you — in spite of your righteous upbringing — don’t trust them.

What’s up with that?

Nichevo on September 2, 2008 at 6:34 PM

Nichevo, its called trust but verify. I think one of my heros made up that phrase.

Even wonderful underage children can be naive, stupid, uninformed, etc. Thats why God gave them parents to help them “negotiate the minefields in the brier”(R. waters, The Final Cut, The Final Cut).

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 6:41 PM

baldilocks on September 2, 2008 at 6:29 PM

And the converse is true: just because someone agrees with you on a single issue — or even several issues — does not magically, require your agreement on every issue.

Nichevo on September 2, 2008 at 6:43 PM

Petunia, you are correct.

If I vote, I will be forced to vote for McCain. But I dont have to like it and I dont have to pretend that either McCain or Palin are even close to being reasonable candidates.

And, we will lose this one anyway.

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 4:37 PM

I have talked to others that your point of view. And I understand. But it is what is is.

Actually, I think Allahpundit is not unsympathtic to your point of view.

I understand the frustration of electing what could be seen as a bad example. But people do make mistakes. And even the very best of Father’s lost 1/3 of His children. And will not see all of the rest home safely.

We can’t judge a person’s parenting by the mistake of one very young girl. And in fact we shouldn’t be judging her parenting at all. That is not our job. We can judge her politics and her ability but not her parenting. One of the best champions of conservative causes was not a very good parent–Ronald Reagan.

Yesterday, I was outraged that this made Palin “more authentic” not to me. She has my sympathy but I do not consider this normal or to be expected or authentic.

But we Roger are not in a majority. And who is to say if we were we would do any better?

Politically, Palin measures up. She hits all the right bases. She is in fact more conservative than I am personally.

petunia on September 2, 2008 at 6:46 PM

Just a clever stylistic technique.
Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 6:05 PM

Might be biased, but I call shenanigans.

Grue in the Attic on September 2, 2008 at 6:46 PM

Good post Petunia. I generally agree with you.

I am venting that other candidates for VP would clearly be more ready to step in and lead should something happen to McCain.

The real problem of course is that the republicans chose McCain. I believe they will lose this election. I also believe it will be painful for the country short term but may be better, MAY BE BETTER, long term.

I think McCain is going to give us another Dole experience. We shall see.

I am venting that other candidates for VP would clearly be more ready to step in and lead should something happen to McCain.

I actually have done my share of venting here as well… I’m actually a bit embarrassed by some of the stuff I wrote early on.

Maybe McCain was afraid that if the VP was too qualified the country might figure they could do without him. Palin is life insurance…

I think McCain is in good health and by the time Palin has been VP for very long she will be up to speed. She already has more experience and definitely more common sense than Obama. After a couple of years as VP she will be twice as qualified as Obama would be if he took office in 2010.

petunia on September 2, 2008 at 7:05 PM

What year is it again. Oh yeah ….if he took office in 2009. My senior moments started early…

Roger Waters on September 2, 2008 at 6:41 PM

A band. Well, thanks, we’ve finally narrowed your philosophy/theology of childrearing down, per Wikipedia:

“The Final Cut is a rock album by Pink Floyd recorded at various studios in the UK from July to December 1982. It is the final Pink Floyd studio album to feature the band’s bassist and primary songwriter Roger Waters. The album is predominantly the work of Waters, this being the only Pink Floyd album on which the composers’ credit on every track is given to Waters alone, with no songwriting credits given to any other member of the band. Keyboardist Rick Wright played no part in the recording of The Final Cut having been sacked by Waters during recording of The Wall, meaning that this is the only Pink Floyd album on which Wright does not feature at all. David Gilmour meanwhile sings lead vocals on only one of the album’s twelve songs, the rest being sung entirely by Waters. The recording of The Final Cut was marred by tension between Waters and his bandmates, particularly Gilmour, who has since expressed his dislike for much of the album. For these and other reasons, it is sometimes regarded as a Roger Waters solo album rather than a true Pink Floyd album. None of the album’s songs has ever been performed live by Pink Floyd, though some have been performed live by Waters during solo tours. Waters’ dominance on the album is most clearly seen on the back cover, which reads: The Final Cut: A Requiem for the Post-War Dream – by Roger Waters, performed by Pink Floyd.”

Whatever, dude — but I’d hope to be attending to the serious business of raising children on something more, oh, I don’t know, maybe — meaningful or substantial — than a rock band bassist.

Trotta is a typical lib. They don’t really debate they simply pontificate. If you start with the wrong presumptions you’ll always get to the wrong conclusions. I see this at work with my lib teacher friends.

Mojave Mark on September 2, 2008 at 8:08 PM

Liz has the Trots; Another stick on the back of the next civil war camel. Back to checking the dates on all my ammo.

Too many trolls on this site.

Sorry Ed but I will not post with so many DNC members posting here they can take their foul language back to the DNC.

Please ban the uncivil like Free Republic and all respectable sites do.

Please ban the uncivil like Free Republic and all respectable sites do.

Steveangell on September 3, 2008 at 12:36 AM

Oh, that struck a nerve with me. Free Republic doesn’t just ban trolls. They ban anyone who does not share their point of view. Case in point…me. I am a true blue conservative in every way, but I posted one time disagreeing with a poster and I am banned for life. I would hate to see HA go that far.
