His detailed account of McCain’s torture was odd, given he supports the use of it.

crr6 on September 3, 2008 at 7:35 AM

Well, look at that. Crr6 can’t tell the difference between breaking bones and playing loud music. Mother, why are Lefties so stupid?

S. Weasel on September 3, 2008 at 7:41 AM

Fred was great, except for of course the annoying throat clearing thing he does.

justtim2 on September 3, 2008 at 7:55 AM

He was great. Jo-mentum too, to a lesser extent. Too bad the censors at the MSM (ministry of socialist media) decided to do an exposé on the Rohrshach blocks in baby Trig’s diapers.

Well, tonight, please G-d, will be speech that will rally free-thinking people to vote McCain Palin!

J.J. Sefton on September 3, 2008 at 8:01 AM

I know I’m a little late, but I really liked Fred!’s speech last night. If I hadn’t decided on Friday to finally vote McCain, this speech might have convinced me outright.

Anna on September 3, 2008 at 8:05 AM

Fred Thompson knocked it out of the park last night. He did a spectacular job. Great job Fred!

sinsing on September 3, 2008 at 8:11 AM

Good speech by Fred. Too many empty seats in that hall, however. Get those seats filled up.

james23 on September 3, 2008 at 8:15 AM

Fred is going to be on Fox and Friends in a few minutes.

forest on September 3, 2008 at 8:16 AM

The comparison between John McCain and the O! couldn’t have been clearer Tuesday nite. Look at the caliber of the people who stood up and attested to the character of John McCain compared with Denver last week. The difference couldn’t be more stunning. Fred! was at his best! I’m looking forward to Attorney General Fred Thompson.

JimK on September 3, 2008 at 8:19 AM

Ditto on all of the Fred! kudos. He was my first choice for president.

I am glad that Fred spelled out McCain’s experiences during and after the Forrestal fire. Most people are only aware of the generic outline. It was time to present that amazing heroism in detail since the media give it short shrift.

Did anyone else notice that the MSNBC bozo interviewing Newt claimed that Palin has a thin resume for a presidential candidate. Newt did a terrific smack down, but he should have corrected that gaffe by the interviewer in order to further highlight Palin’s executive experience over Obama’s.

onlineanalyst on September 3, 2008 at 8:19 AM

What a brave stance. He probably will, too, the iron-fisted tyrant.

Jim Treacher on September 3, 2008 at 6:25 AM

Not that getting banned would pop a single bubble in my beer, but, new as I still am, I’m not sure how thin-skinned he may be. I would imagine not very, as the job seems to require a modicum of psychological armor-plating. BTW, your snark is noted and I look forward to returning the favor.

QFT

While I am not naive enough to believe much of anything that any politician says, last’s nights speeches demonstrated a level of sincerity and conviction that I have never before witnessed in any campaign. In contrast to overtly scripted dog and pony show last week and it’s parade of hypocrites going back on their prior bashing of Obama, the Republicans outdid themselves.

I fear, however, that our American Idol culture will by showmanship over sincerity and speeches over quality, character and achievement.

Allah,

Video: Fred rocks Minneapolis

As a former resident of the great city, St Paul, MN… please give it the respect it deserves. Fred was speaking from the Xcel Arena in ST PAUL, MN. He was not speaking from Minneapolis last night. Believe me, people from the twin cities know the difference.

Thank you.

jbh45 on September 3, 2008 at 8:42 AM

Wow… listening to that speech…

I disagree with alot of what McCain has done and said, but I have tremendous respect for what he has sacrificed for our country.

Whether he wins this election or not, he truly is one of America’s great heros and a true patriot.

That was a fantastic reminder of the difference between John McCain and Obama. A stark difference…

Nineball on September 3, 2008 at 8:59 AM

Field dress a moose?….think of how she will field dress a donkey(s)!

grapeknutz on September 3, 2008 at 8:59 AM

You know, why would the media mess with a woman, and her family, when they can shoot a rifle and be accurate from a long distance away??

Mazztek on September 3, 2008 at 9:00 AM

I also wanted to add, now that I’ve read the thread, that I bawled during the Monsoor video and during the account of McCain’s torture. I went to language school with a few SEALs, and I think they’re the coolest people eveh. It also hit me hard because Monsoor would say ‘roger that,’ just like my Navy husband does – it made the story a little more personal. McCain went through hell for our country, and anytime I hear of such dedication it reminds me that we are free Americans due to the actions of these heroes.

I am grateful that the RNC put these stories out there. I watched a great deal of the Democrat’s convention, and I do not recall any such gesture to our troops (I could be wrong). That says a lot about both parties. And now I have to go find a tissue.

Anna on September 3, 2008 at 9:05 AM

I wonder how many, if any, of his very well articulated shots at BO and the liberals will be shown on the lame stream media news. My guess is very few if any because they were dead on.

libhater on September 3, 2008 at 9:06 AM

Field dress a moose?….think of how she will field dress a donkey(s)!
grapeknutz on September 3, 2008 at 8:59 AM

Wonderful line, grapeknutz!

wise_man on September 3, 2008 at 9:11 AM

Great speech.

and yeah that throat clearing thing was annoying lol

YellowDawg on September 3, 2008 at 9:22 AM

I loved the speech. I never heard McCain’s story told in detail and I felt guilty about the times I’ve been angry at him for different things. I’ve always respected his service, but its a deeper respect now. I think that speech will help him. The lefty’s will probably rip it apart, which will be their mistake.

Stevel on September 3, 2008 at 10:15 AM

I knew all about the Forrestal fire, having been in the Navy.

Or, I thought I did…

I never knew John McCain was there.

Wow.

TheCulturalist on September 3, 2008 at 10:30 AM

My hat is off to Fred even though he wasn’t my guy in the primary
I do love the venom he has for the mainstream media and how he is willing to buck the fake narrative they put out.
He gets it, i think he likes telling them to stick it.

That stuff about Mcain I never heard before especially the way he said. I have a whole new respect Mcain because of it and it may expalain a lot about why and how he choses the way he does.
You push him and he pushes back

kangjie on September 3, 2008 at 10:37 AM

Damn, Fred! was on fire last night. The dems are so boned.

thekingtut on September 3, 2008 at 10:37 AM

money! being President is way above Obama’s pay grade. Biden too for that matter.

Fred nailed it.

jdsmith0021 on September 3, 2008 at 10:48 AM

His speech really painted Nobama and Biden for WHO they really are. It was an extremely intelligent speech, for intelligent people. It captured what the Democrats are all about beautifully. It told us ALL I need to know about John AND Sarah.

That’s the WHOLE problem with the Democrat’s, they appeal to people who aren’t as intelligent and grossly uninformed.
That’s WHAT the DUMBOCRATS count on, or else WHO would vote for them.

Fred was BRILLIANT!

Conservaboomer on September 3, 2008 at 11:14 AM

I wonder if the Dem’s are getting together tonight to go over and TP Lieberman’s house?

Seems like something they would be capable of doing.

TheCulturalist on September 3, 2008 at 11:15 AM

I would argue that if Fred had spoken this way during HIS campaign, there might be some major differences in the Republican ticket.

That, or at the very least he would have been a candidate for longer than ten minutes…

thePajamaPundit on September 3, 2008 at 12:33 PM

Fred rocked the hiz-ouse

McCain/Palin baby!!!!

MechEng5by5 on September 3, 2008 at 5:12 PM

Bradky:

That is absurd. Fred’s speech was not boring. And while we might need some anger, we don’t need raving.

Terrye on September 3, 2008 at 7:02 AM

A fredhead are you? I like Fred but not for POTUS

I watched the RNC last night with my twelve-year-old daughter. It’s her first convention and she thought Fred was awesome. Good taste, she has.

Mrs. Happy Housewife on September 3, 2008 at 7:28 AM

The first thing I thought of when reading this was Carter talking about how he had talked with daughter Amy about world affairs…
