New McCain video: Introducing Sarah Palin

posted at 6:20 pm on September 2, 2008 by Allahpundit

Lord knows McCain has his faults, but let’s please acknowledge that a man with the stones to pull a quote from Hillary’s pro forma congratulations to Palin and use it a quasi-endorsement can’t be all bad. Shameless, sir. Utterly shameless. And magnificent.

Further evidence of stones: The fact that they included Palin’s line about taking on the lobbyists, on the very day that WaPo published that story about her having retained a lobbyist of her own as mayor. Why do that? Because maybe one in a hundred voters will ever see that story and only one in a hundred of those who do will remember it on Election Day, but the speech will abide. I wonder how much of the Palin news over the last 48 hours falls into that same category. The story about her daughter has legs because it’s so vivid and easy to grasp, but the timeline on when she supported the bridge to nowhere versus when she opposed it? Not so much, not so much. Hence the lefty emphasis on smears. The fake dirt is so much more interesting than the real kind. Click the image to watch.

Whose side are you on? Obama’s?
Terrye on September 2, 2008 at 7:22 PM

NO WAY! I’m just really worried that Hussein MIGHT actually win(God forbid).

Who told Mccain that playing the Dems lame-game of gender politics would be worth losing the experience advantage?

sven10077 on September 2, 2008 at 7:27 PM

That’s classic….I love it..

Static21 on September 2, 2008 at 7:29 PM

a great many people will vote for him because they do not want to be considered racist
jmarcure on September 2, 2008 at 7:24 PM

People don’t have to tell others who they voted for.

DarkeningCloud on September 2, 2008 at 7:29 PM

SaintOlaf:

You could have fooled me. I actually got the impression that since your guy did not win the VP contest you were more interested in trashing the person who did than actually supporting the ticket. silly me.

Still waiting for my permit to hunt stupid people.

Browncoatone on September 2, 2008 at 7:02 PM

Spoken like a true Browncoat. You guys lost the war for independence or did you forget? Don’t really matter no way cause the BO Alliance will make sort work of stragglers.

I know people who lie to their Democratic friends, saying they will vote for Obama, but who have no intention of doing so.

Remember Truman, know one understood how he could win because Dewey was supposed to win. But when push came to shove…

I think Obama has a better than even chance, but he is not a shoe in.

Terrye on September 2, 2008 at 7:33 PM

I like Palin, but she needs to do something about that voice of hers. Hillary had the same problem, and to her credit she trained herself to mitigate it. And if Hillary can do it, so can Sarah.

Maybe it’s sexist to say that, but presidential politics is ugly.

NorthernCross on September 2, 2008 at 7:33 PM

jmarcure on September 2, 2008 at 7:24 PM

Wow.

That is my worst nightmare.

You are right, the dems REALLY do call everyone who is voting for Mccain a straight up racist!

That is literally the first thing they say.
I hope they can’t pull that off in such a widescale fashion as you describe though….the voting booths ARE private you know..

SaintOlaf on September 2, 2008 at 7:35 PM

Disturb the Universe on September 2, 2008 at 7:31 PM

If even a small part of that larger picture is true, then Baracky has a problem on his hands. Eight points just became six or four or maybe even less.

Terrye on September 2, 2008 at 7:33 PM

Better than even chance due to the MSM help. I feel the rest of the convention and the debates will only help us. Unfettered access to the people-won’t get filtered by the media…

Static21 on September 2, 2008 at 7:37 PM

Seems to working even better at this point. McCain gets to move on to other topics and let Barry and machine put a spotlight on the topic, which is still very unfavorable to Jo’bama. Sarah still has better executive experience, and a better understanding of Americans than Obama and Biden combined.

Her regional accent is sexy and like a piece of home….it sounds fine in OHIO, MICHIGAN, WISCONSIN, MINNESOOTA, etc etc

notice anything there?

sven10077 on September 2, 2008 at 7:40 PM

I said in a different post-I love that accent-lived in Anchorage for 3 years-can’t get enough of it…

Static21 on September 2, 2008 at 7:41 PM

Palin could always just affect the local urban patois, ala Hillary and Baracky.

I still say Rove must be working behind the scenes because, like a fool, Baracky is spending all his time trying to point out that we would make a better vice president than Palin.

Bishop on September 2, 2008 at 7:46 PM

Static21 on September 2, 2008 at 7:25 PM

You will be sorry you asked that one. StOlaf is a Huckabee loving fool. There is NO ONE equal to Huckabee.

phreshone on September 2, 2008 at 7:37 PM

Maybe you’re right.

I hope Americans can overcome the brainwashing of the MSM and the dems hideous racial politics enough to at least stop obama.

With Mccain well into his “golden years” at 720…Biden almost seems like the safe pick experience wise.

We all know that if obama does win, he may get assassinated.. there has already been one KKK attempt on his life.

Of course the media glossed over that story because they don’t want obama to lose any support…

The important question we should all be asking is: who would the public pick in a one on one presidential race…..Joe Biden or Sarah Palin?

SaintOlaf on September 2, 2008 at 7:56 PM

Cindy Munford on September 2, 2008 at 7:50 PM

My bad-I don’t get on here as much as I would like-I just recently was able to register and to reply on here-I guess my point is-in my humble opinion, McCain has a much better shot w/ Palin than any other established person…

Static21 on September 2, 2008 at 7:57 PM

We shall see. I think there is a strong urge to make history. People also want to believe that Obama can actually deliver on all the crap he is selling. He can’t, but since he can spend the first 2 or 3 years blaming everything on Bush he might not have to.

Terrye on September 2, 2008 at 7:29 PM

They know he can’t deliver and it doesn’t matter because he as a symbol and proof that they and we as a country are not racist. Just look at what people say about the world loving us because we will break the race barrier and elect a black or woman. Do you really think England, Germany or India give a rat’s behind if we elect a woman? Do you think African countries care if we elect a black? They all have had woman and blacks in positions of power for years. No we will do it to prove to ourselves that we are not racist. In fact I think that BO is the perfect pick because he is so inexperienced and is an empty suit. He represent a safe black without all the radical baggage people like Jackson and Sharpton bring to the table. Keeping his promises is the last thing they expect or care about.

Welcome! I was hoping it would stop once Gov. Palin had been selected AND Huckabee is campaigning for the ticket but as you can see, dreams die hard for StOlaf. Have fun this is a great sight.

Cindy Munford on September 2, 2008 at 8:07 PM

SaintOlaf, you were tiring when you were pushing Huck. You’ve become tiresome now.

Buford Gooch on September 2, 2008 at 8:09 PM

People don’t have to tell others who they voted for.

DarkeningCloud on September 2, 2008 at 7:29 PM

No they don’t but they will because it will define them. Some will say they voted for him but will pull the lever for McCain but I think they will be few and far between. I live in MA where people just can’t get enough BO and I’ve had complete strangers ask if I will vote for him and complete the sentence with something about only a racist wouldn’t. What am I to say? To one guy I said no that I plan to sit out the race because I was a Clinton supporter and I was instantly branded a racist by him. So what happens if everyone I know says they voted for BO and he doesn’t win? I think the accusations start and people start calling each other traitors and closet racists. People just want to fit in and be liked and they really think voting for BO is their ticket off of the racist plantation.

sven10077 on September 2, 2008 at 7:37 PM

It doesn’t matter because I was teasing him/her about being a Firefly fan. The Browncoats are the rebels that fought for independence from the oppressive and overbearing Alliance and lost. The kids were taught that the Alliance didn’t want to tell people what to think only how to think.

jmarcure on September 2, 2008 at 8:15 PM

jmarcure on September 2, 2008 at 8:09 PM

That may work well in the dem primaries but in the general election…it’s a whole different ballgame.

SaintOlaf on September 2, 2008 at 8:17 PM

jmarcure on September 2, 2008 at 8:09 PM

Terrye on September 2, 2008 at 8:26 PM

Try hard to point them to the correct choice. I know two people here in MA that will vote McCain not counting my wife and me. I think last election my wife and I were the only ones we knew that voted Bush. My son has “forgotten” to register to vote because he is afraid he might slip at collage and say he voted for McCain and he’s worried he may not make it out alive. At least by “forgetting” he can be “honest” and say he would have voted BO if he was registered. Sad isn’t it?

jmarcure on September 2, 2008 at 9:08 PM

Whenever I think of Huck it reminds me of the Monks from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, chanting and slapping their heads with a board.

sven10077 on September 2, 2008 at 7:40 PM

It’s not her accent. It’s the fact that her voice is so high-pitched. I’m aware that to a large extent this isn’t something that it would be fair to fault her for, since everyone is born with their own unique voice box. That said, it’s difficult for a lot of people, both men and women, to listen to her speak because of her voice. All I’m saying is that it would be in her best interests to put some effort into mitigate this problem. It can be done.

I am an Alaskan resident and I approve Sarah Palin

Sven on September 2, 2008 at 11:58 PM

Palin is the only interesting person in this campaign. If she can convert and redirect on this opening salvo from the left, she’ll have won it for McCain.

spmat on September 3, 2008 at 1:06 AM

Picking Palin is not gender politics. She ran an $11 Billion (yes, with a B) budget with over 24,000 employees. She’s a tax cuter, an ethics reformer, a gas and oil expert, and she ROCKS.

I’d vote for her over Biden or Obama any day of the week…she has more executive experience than either one of them, who haven’t ever run anything other than their mouths.
