I think at the end of the day nobody is really going to care that Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant. Rather they are going to look at how the Palin's dealt with the issue. In this case Sarah's daughter had to keep the baby and raise him/her.

Now you look at how Obama would handle the situation. A certain quote from him comes to mind; "I don't want my daughters punished with a baby." After what has happened with Sarah and what, presumably, would have happened if Obama was in this situation I would say Sarah handled it the best.

Hey, I have a few hypothetical scenarios I’d like to throw out that would demonstrate the media reactions to very different approaches from the Palins, Conservatives and the Republican Party. Long, bear with me.

Scenario 1: Mere days after accepting the Republican Vice-Presidential position on the McCain ticket, Governor Palin releases statement saying 17 year old pregnant daughter Bristol has decided to terminate her pregnancy. (God forbid)

CNN: This is a clear example of the hypocrisy of the Conservative Wing of the Republican Party and certainly demonstrates how Governor Palin is now an impediment to Senator McCain. It also demonstrates the irresponsible approach that the McCain camp has taken in their VP selection process. This is the end for Senator McCain’s meteoric run.

ABC: One wonders how within just two generations of the same family it’s possible that the phenomena of motherhood could be approached so haphazardly. Clearly the daughter has followed the mother in her footsteps by not using sensible birth control methods. The McCain campaign is going to have serious trouble recovering from this setback. Clearly this election is now Senator Obama’s to lose.

CBS: This evening we have a very difficult story that just has to be analyzed because of the monumental importance of this 2008 Presidential Election. Can Governor Palin be trusted in the position of Vice-President after her seemingly abysmal performance as a parent? In failing to supervise her daughter, it’s obvious she provided an environment that allowed this to happen. McCain is finished.

NBC or MSNBC: These classless, extreme right loons, who I hate, are the reason the rest of the decent world hates and has no respect for us. Tonight we have the worse, the daughter (that I care nothing about as long as I make my political point) worser, the mother who isn’t fit to even serve out her time as governor, and worstest, Senator McCain who I hate most of all because I just hate him. Did I mention I hate him? That bastard is done, stick a fork in him!

The Bigoted Right: "Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have.” Doctor James Dobson

Scenario 2: Mere days after accepting the Republican Vice-Presidential position on the McCain ticket, Governor Palin releases statement saying 17 year old pregnant daughter Bristol has decided to have her child but will offer the child up for adoption.

CNN: Tonight on Larry King. Several school-mates who knew someone, that heard from other friends, who may be able to quote other teens that hung around friends of Bristol, are ready to state unequivocally that this awful situation with the Governor’s daughter is different from other teens that have gotten pregnant in high school because they totally wanted to hook up with Levi themselves. Listen to them in their own young voices state that their parents all agree that these are the coffin nails in the McCain Campaign.

ABC: Tonight! The Edwards scandal pales compared to this sordid tale of a Conservative family in a complete tailspin. One can only wonder how Governor Palin could even expect to serve an administration after such a complete meltdown. How could the McCain team allow this to happen? Most pundits, to include some “we” consider Conservative, now collectively agree it’s over for the maverick from Arizona.

CBS: This evening, as much as we hate to stoop to the level of the Conservative Trash we chronicle, we have a sad report just has to be analyzed because of the monumental importance of this 2008 Presidential Election. Can Governor Palin be trusted in the position of Vice-President after her seemingly abysmal performance as a parent? In failing to supervise her daughter, it’s obvious she provided an environment that allowed this to happen and against all her convictions, allowed her poor child to terminate a pregnancy out of convenience to her career.

NBC or MSNBC: These monsters are roadblocks to progressive society, who I hate, are the reason God, (who Michael Moore and I only believe in when we wish to evoke him to smite Conservatives), will curse the very fabric of our nation. Tonight we have the worse, the daughter (that I care nothing about as long as I make my political point) worser, the father who wasn’t man or mature enough to talk her into terminating the pregnancy, and worstest, Senator McCain who I hate most of all because I just hate him. Did I mention I hate him? That bastard is done; don’t let the door hit you in the ass!

Scenario 3: (The truth). Mere days after accepting the Republican Vice-Presidential position on the McCain ticket, Governor Palin releases statement saying 17 year old pregnant daughter Bristol was indeed pregnant in order to deflect the outrageous claims on prominent liberal blogs that her 4 month old Downs Syndrome child Trig was actually her granddaughter. The theory asserts that then 16 year old Bristol was the actual mother. The family stated the young couple will have the child are planning to wed.

The media reports…

Just read the “real” news and see how close the vitriolic dialog by these “in-the-tank” media types are. It was hard to even kid about the subject to post here and these soulless reprobates in the media pursue their target like heartless wolves. My God, how did we ever get this far. Can people see now what is in store for us after the Fairness Doctrine is passed and there isn’t a voice for Conservatives? This only makes me more determined to help elect Senator McCain and Governor Palin. This same family on Obama’s ticket and in the same family situation would be completely isolated by the main stream media. They would be held up for the very honor in what they do even by liberal standards; respecting a woman’s right to choose life and understanding none of us are perfect.

I set up a monthly McCain/Palin contribution this morning before I came to work.

From what I've read thus far, Dems who can actually see through the emotional hype of The One are collectively sh*tting themselves over Palin.

A little projection, if you please:

* 2008, the McCain/Palin ticket obliterates the "Hopeychange" meme run by The One and his Chicagomon hordes (with apologies to Iowahawk), especially after The One chose perhaps the most egregious example of Beltway politics to run as his Veep;

* 2012 is likely to be a McCain/Palin re-election, IF they manage to DRILL!!! and hold the line on foreign threats and immigration crap (and Palin brings the hope that McAmnesty will back off a bit) - new domestic sources of oil will, in one fell swoop, bring a boon to the economy AND weaken our enemies (by retaining American capital within our country, rather than funding those who would position themselves against us); and

* 2016 brings the possibility of the first woman president of the US, as a solid conservative.

I realize such thinking is still a very, very long shot (and although I don't agree with AP's pessimism, I do understand it), but if you are a thinking Dem strategist right now - and there are a few who do think beyond their own hype - you have to consider those points. If I am correct, there is no place for a Dem in the White House for the next four administrations.

And that thought HAS to have them freaking out hard right about now.

One last item, as a related side issue: on Wizbang earlier this morning, Kim linked to Blackfive in regards to Palin's exposure to national defense issues.

From the quote from Blackfive:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.
As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

Given how in the tank the press is for him it should be 55% or so, add in the libtard's fear of the Bradley effect and I am not nervous at all. Anxious yes, nervous no?

The democrats better pick how hard they are gonna cheat their asses off this year and run with it.
