Comedy gold: Explosive video of, um, “Palin’s husband” emerges

I can’t tell you how many times as a child my own father held impromptu psychotherapy sessions like this while I stood by his bedside with a videocamera. How lucky the left is to have it emerge two days after Palin was named to a national ticket, and in spectacularly good condition notwithstanding the fact that the tape’s 12 years old and had to be transferred to a different format for uploading to YouTube.
Do note: “Todd Palin” is supposed to be 32 years old here.
Yes, there really are liberals who are treating this first-take, America’s-Funniest-Videos quality attempt at improv as plausible. Exit question challenge: Just try not to laugh when he starts talking about fishing nets.
Update: Via Ace, something I totally missed the first around just because I’m so used to seeing it: “Palin” appears to be talking on a small cell phone. In 1996.

This is just going to get worse if it’s encouraged. That’s just how it is. I guess they decided they can’t attack Sarah Palin, so they’ll just attack her daughter and her husband instead.
Since Todd is probably going to be almost as popular as Sarah this will make as much difference as a fly ramming my car on the highway. (When is the last time any of the principles or spouses were not just the child of a blue collar worker, but was an actual blue collar worker!).

Why bother pointing these things out?
It doesn’t look like Palin.
For a 1996 camera the quality and low light capability was fantastic as was the sound. I had a very low light level VHS camera about that time and it was way too big for a 5 year old to handle.
Onward to the phone.
Tiny and when he turned it off you could hear a click as if he was closing it. Sorry that technology was years away.
I could almost over look all of that but the one thing I just can’t put aside is this simple little thing. Why would a teacher hang on to the video tape for 12 years? That in itself is just too fantastic to believe. How the teacher could have known Mrs. Palin would ever amount to anything and that the video would be of value is beyond belief. Why would any self respecting person keep such a boring tape of unknowns. The voyeur aspect is absolutely worthless. If it was sex I could somewhat understand because at lest that would be amusing to show others after all these years. The way I see it is that over the last few days the liberals have been complete morons taken in by everything from earrings to fake pregnancies and this is an attempt to sucker us. This has got to be a troll to get our hackles up and it isn’t even a good one.

Was she elected in June? If so they wouldn’t be taking a “snow mobile” out since the sun is up nearly all day. The solstace is June 21 and they probably have daylight for 24 hours that day. If that is the case there would be now snow for them to go on. If she was elected in November what is up with the lighting? Is that common to have lighting in the winter in Alaska?

Mmmm, snowmobiling in a thunderstorm. Thunder snowstorms are not impossible, but… It’s supposed to be cold enough for winter sports, but an Alaskan is sleeping shirtless… And he’s a commercial fisherman, but sleeps late and plans to go snowmobiling after he gets back… uh, huh.

Now I was reading the comments to the post on Huffington Post, to the guest Alaskan Blogger, explaining as best he could, using small words, that yes Sarah Palin was pregnant with and the mother of her child Trig..but when you read the comments, well those have to be the same folks who comment on Daily Kos, they must be keeping the traffic going on both sites. I tell you, I thought while I was reading those comments, this must be what it is like being in the twilight zone or a homeless shelter with internet access.

Unbelievably bad. A Todd who looks as old as I do (:P!), who is mysogynst to the point of no return, being filmed with a camera that shows a digital error near the beginning, by a supposedly 5 yo girl who says next to nothing (I guess so the cameraman’s identity won’t be blown)

Ours was more like the field phones in the TV show Combat.

Absolutely staggering that anyone with an IQ above room temperature could think that vid is real. I did think it was hilarious as a sort of MadTV skit. Anyone working as a “pundit” who thinks that vid is legit needs to quit and start a new career as a speed bump in a parking lot.

I completely agree on the snowmobile/snowmachine part. In ALASKA it’s a SNOWMACHINE, always! If you start talking about a SNOWMOBILE and SNOWMOBILING, people will ALWAYS do one of two things. 1. correct you about it., or, 2. look at you kind of sideways, as if to say,”what, are you retarded?”. It’s not quite as obvious as saying car-park ,bonnet, boot or petrol, but it’s right next door to it . Personally, I’m originally from CANADA, where we would be the ones to give the LOOK, cause in CANADA, it’s SKIDOO or SNOWMOBILE. The guys face in the video is wrong, the first dude, has a flatter face especially at the temples, and the guys hairline is receded past where Todd Palin’s is now. REALLY, is that BRUCE CAMPBELL’s brother???

Unconvincing dialog: a real Alaskan fisherman who was part eskimo would not talk like that, and he would be up way earlier than the Mayor or the City Council and almost everyone else.

If you hold down the mouse on the streaming feed you get names of the phone and who the guy is his name is Norm Augustinus it is satire. If you go to you tube they say it is an ericson phone but I doubt from 1996. “Deep Private Fisherman Thoughts”
