That is, by far, the best bit of subtle sarcasm in answer to the Donks I have seen in quite some time. I had to copy and email that to myself so I could save it before the thread scrolls down. Would it be OK with you if I were to email it to others?

Damiano this is brilliance.....on August 31, 2008 and at 3:52 AM!!?

Successfully holding Big Oil accountable and negotiating mutually productive agreements with them shows that she does not understand their true purpose.

Seriously, you need to write a book, or maybe even better, an online part book/part journal and get your own blog hits with ads and get mentions from major broadcasters for your stroke of genius.

This is a major stroke of inspiration, highlighting truth laced in humor, thereby making it so much more palatable and impressionable on the mind.

Like I said last night, the Ivy leaguers, generally speaking, haven't come up with anything novel since the birth of our country, instead they have sought to ruin it with so many boneheaded socialist ideas wrapped in compassion.

Now a stroke of brilliance like yours is needed to reverse all the horse shit ideas/teachings that permeated our culture (and the world at large)......for a proof of this, take note that even Sean Hannity believes that in extreme cases the government should step in and help people.

I couldn't disagree more with Hannity.

A very simple novel idea here.... give citizens excellent tax credit/incentives for helping their own relatives and friends in need medically and for practicing a healthy life, which would eliminate the need for Medicare.

I for one will give you a $100.00 for your first published signed/autographed hardcover book.

How's that for an incentive, Damiano?

All we have to do here is provide for and encourage self-empowerment in all situations and we will have solved all the challenges we face and stay true to our country's founding principles.

Real simple stuff here.

Polls, Schmolls.

How many respondants were in this poll? Oh yeah, here it is:

    2,020 likely voters nationwide

Likely. As in “may vote”. Not even registered voters (which fall under category of “likelier than likely voters”).

The questions usually go "Are you registered to vote" " did you vote in the last presidential election" and "how likely are you to vote in this presidential election"

This is not about illegal ect. This is about people's actions as they state them at the minute. At this minute these over 2000 are saying they either will vote or probably vote in the next election. Anyone else doesn't finish the study.

Rasmussen has Obama’s lead narrowing from the convention bounce: The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday—the day before the Republican National Convention is scheduled to begin—shows Barack Obama ahead of John McCain by three percentage points both with and without leaners. That’s exactly the same edge Obama enjoyed a week ago on the eve of the Democratic National Convention.Today’s numbers show a one-point improvement for McCain, but Obama still leads 47% to 44%. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 49%, McCain 46%

And Rasmussen shows good numbers on Palin: Palin herself made a good first impression and is now viewed favorably by 53% of voters nationwide. Her counterpart, Joe Biden, is viewed favorably by 48%.

I panicked when McCain won the nomination. I'm feeling much better now though. Palin is successful because she is conservative and no one's victim. As long as she sticks to her conservative principals and doesn't go "wobbly" on us, she'll be just fine. It's easy for her to have a battle of ideas with Biden, he's a dud.

I don't know how it is there in the 'States, but here in Australia, they generally put rusted-on party support at around 30%, for either main party.

All these polls are saying 29% say it would hurt, thats the rusted on segment, if the same fact holds true over there, so you can pretty much ignore that number, and just look at the other numbers, which are encouraging.

Anyone else got thoughts on that?

McCain's selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate has already had a number of effects on the campaign. Mainly, I won't need to be stinking drunk to pull the lever for McCain. The base, which has been pretty cheesed off at McCain, is now enthused....

Here's the way I see it, AP: At the beginning of the race, everybody assumed that whatever Democrat ran would be elected because of the economy, war, whatever. When it got down to Obama vs. McCain, it did not change. Then, the polls started getting close. McCain has been fighting an uphill battle, and appears to be getting there.

Palin is a Hail Mary pass. Like all Hail Mary passes, if it succeeds, you're a hero. If it fails, it was a desperate move but perhaps the only move left to you.

McCain was never expected to win. If he manages to pull it off, I wonder what history will say was the reason. Here are some possibilities:

1. Racism
2. Obama's inexperience
3. Palin
4. McCain's tenacity
5. Biden's idiocy
6. ???

I share Allahpundit's hesitation on relying on ZI's polling. That's why I did a bunch of digging to see if it was supported elsewhere. Not only did I find supporting anecdotal evidence, I found gobs of it, which I posted about here.

There's tons of fresh new support for the McCain ticket that I found apart from ZI's poll. Follow the above link & read all about it.

McCain/Palin '08 FTW.

I had a little doubt there the Mav would fall back, but after seeing Barry O slight his change for a bit of more of the same, I was pretty confident the ol' Johnny Mac would pull one out of left field. And he picked a gun-totin, child-bearin, administration-runnin guv'nuh. God if only this was an alternate universe, where she wasn't married and I wasn't... I kid. But seriosuly, this hard ass Alaskan lady (my uncle lives there, and if my aunt is any indication...) knows how to wait for the kill. Let the lefties underestimate her, like quadripeds following the easy path... while she sits in her hide, controlling her breath, waiting for the perfect shot. I wonder if Biden knows he's a moose, ready for the kill shot.

I was already a McCain kool-aid drinker, Palin just goddamn ices the cake. My wife is fervently anti-abortion (as am I but for other reasons), we're both gun-nuts (me prior service, her from former soviet republic) and if we can get all the neccesary paperwork done and fees filed, count 2 in for McCain/Palin.

Exit question: Acknowledging that hard drugs are illegal and therefore shouldn’t be used, couldn’t one make a moral claim that using them while watching the vice-presidential debate to avert a nervous breakdown is better on balance for society?

Polls, Schmolls.

How many respondants were in this poll? Oh yeah, here it is:

2,020 likely voters nationwide

Likely. As in "may vote". Not even registered voters (which fall under category of "likelier than likely voters"). Given that there will be 100,000,000 voters participate (give/take), think about the pecentage of 2,020 of that number.

Besides, it says nationwide. What about states? Individual state numbers are kind of important in a race that is won or lost by states.

Likely. As in “may vote”. Not even registered voters (which fall under category of “likelier than likely voters”). Given that there will be 100,000,000 voters participate (give/take), think about the pecentage of 2,020 of that number.

Besides, it says nationwide. What about states? Individual state numbers are kind of important in a race that is won or lost by states.

Hmm

Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll Aug 30

Obama currently leads by thirteen points among women while McCain leads by six among men. Among white women, the candidates are essentially even while McCain holds a substantial lead among white men.

The white women aspect ... G Ferraro hit upon a point I thought accurate. The married/unmarried split here. The unmarried hippy chicks, living at home, mom and or dad paying room and board, plenty of down time to attend anarchist rallies love Obammer.

Those who actually work, pay bills, raise children .. seem to have a natural affinity toward a woman leader regardless of party.

And SHE hasn't even begun to fight.

The Obama offensive has been blunted and stopped like the Wehrmacht being stopped by the Red Army and the Russian winter with the spires of the Kremlin in the distance. Let the grueling, but inevitable rollback commence.

This woman INSPIRES! I just sent McCain $2,300 and I'm thinking of turning down a great job opportunity to volunteer for two months.

Heck, I'll babysit Trig for free.

Palin should challenge Biden to an additional, townhall-style debate. In fact, she and McCain could issue the same challenge.

At any rate, one bit of advice I'd give Palin in the debate is to use the phrase "my administration" early and often. It's powerful.

None of this hand-wringing means a thing. Wait a week and all the dust will settle, we'll get back to the monotonous plod to election day.

The ONLY polls that matter, if polls ever do matter, are the ones done the week or even the day before election day.

And I tell you what you have said yourselves; polls are very often inaccurate.

This is mostly because of people like me who do not give the pollsters our true answers. I resent being bothered by the SOB's and then maneuvered with "styled" questions into choosing what they want to hear, then seeing the results manipulated to reflect whatever agenda paid for the poll.

Same goes with professional commentaters and analysts. So far this weekend I have been told I am very racist, very stupid, my vote is easily bought by a moderately attractive woman, scared of change, don't know what's good for me and I can't reason for myself.

Tell ya what, guys. Y'all go on and sit in the middle of the floor, ball up your fists and clench every orifice real good, get some primal scream going and let 'er rip. Have a real good, full-blown hissy fit.

When that blows your ass into a new reality where Reagan or Washington or whoever the hell you really wanted to come back from the dead and take the VP slot, then mybe you can relax.

Back here on Earth Prime, I'm still changing my vote from "None of the above" to "McCain/Palin".

So how about we worry about the Hurricane instead of trying to change something that is already set?

back by popular demand:

Further evidence of Palin's political inexperience

- Only an amateur would attain political office by actually defeating opposing candidates. Conducting a campaign in this naive manner wastes donated funds that could be better used in having your seat embroidered to read "President", holding rock concerts or constructing temples to honor your greatness. An experience politician would have simply remove opposing candidates by protesting ballots. In the unlikely event that this doesn't work, you should petition to change party rules on how votes are counted in primary elections and hire groups like ACORN to register all 14 people with the same name and different birth dates. These voters are easy to find, since they usually all reside at the same abandoned and boarded up restaurant.
- An experienced politician knows that once you hold an actual job, you are no longer a prime candidate for office. The lower classes are best learned about from the safety of Harvard or by observing them in their native environment, such as Whole Foods. Community organizing is a prime method of learning about the lower classes, since you have the opportunity to observe long term poverty and have fundraisers contribute to building additional slums to study.
- If Palin has sufficient experience in government, she would have known that the job of Ethics Commissioner is SUPPOSED to be corrupt, thus saving her from the trouble of resigning in protest of it.
- Successfully holding Big Oil accountable and negotiating mutually productive agreements with them shows that she does not understand their true purpose. The resulting problem is two fold- If you work with them to the benefit of your State, who will you have left to hold up as a faceless villain to scare people?
- Creating jobs means people will be self reliant and may develop wealth of their own. This negatively impacts the Democratic voter pool. Plus, if people have jobs, they will be too busy to protest corporations and your opposing candidates.
- Palin created a budget surplus and mailed in back to people. Taxpayer money is made to be spent. If you haven't spent it all, then you've missed something and need to create a new agency. The only time you should show a budget surplus is if you are ending your final term and borrow the extra money from China. Alternatively, you can cut spending for Constitutional responsibilities of the government, like defense budgets and expenditures like going after terrorists that blow up embassies and ships. Doesnt' she know that the government is a non-profit entity? If it actually makes money, it's doing something wrong.

Acknowledging that hard drugs are illegal and therefore shouldn’t be used, couldn’t one make a moral claim that using them while watching the vice-presidential debate to avert a nervous breakdown is better on balance for society?
