Palin: Let’s shatter that glass ceiling that Hillary cracked; Update: Full video added

posted at 1:30 pm on August 29, 2008 by Allahpundit

The shameless yet thrilling Wolfsonesque crescendo from a momentous debut. Full video to follow. I’m pessimistic (as always) about the pick and will explain why in a post to follow, but I’m glad he chose her anyway. She’s irresistible, and in this year of all years we’ve got nothing to lose. Put the election on the table and roll the dice.

Don’t forget to show your gratitude to the man who made it possible. Thanks, Barry!

Update: Obama tries to manage the instant backfire from his campaign’s moronic attack this morning on her inexperience by congratulating her for busting barriers.

Update: Here’s the full video.

Blowback

She WILL be the nations first POTUS – I predict it today.

I heard someone on the radio say she could become America’s Margaret Thatcher. I would have to agree with that. The potential is there.
guitarplayer on August 29, 2008 at 1:46 PM

How wonderful would that be to see such a thing as that. To see this woman who was elected mayor, and then governor, to maybe be Vice President, and keep climbing that ladder on her own merits and skill. Keep strong, Sarah, you will definitely need to be so much more stronger than what your previous challenges that you’ve faced. I wish for you (and us all) only the best.

Fox just interviewed a Gloomy Gus who was criticizing Palin. The first thing out of his mouth was her pro-life position. The commentator pointed out that abortion is the top issue for 3% of women. “Wuuuuuullll.”

Beyond that, this clown was identified as a former Edwards spokesman. Why would anyone want to listen to a toad who couldn’t figure out what his boss was all about?

Spare me, Dems.

I’m pessimistic (as always)

One of the unfortunate side-effects of a weltanshauung that embraces empiricism and rejects that for which there is no empirical proof. In such a context, life is indeed (to paraphrase Hobbes)nasty, brutish, short…and pointless.

I hope you join our ranks one day, AP. What a magnificent apologist you would make!

ManlyRash on August 29, 2008 at 1:51 PM

In a way, her inexperience is a big help for McCain. The Obama campaign is questioning her experience, which brings the topic to the table, and Obama loses.

gmoonster on August 29, 2008 at 1:51 PM

Michelle Obama, in her cheesy Jackie pearls and goofy grin, looks like a shallow little Stepford Wifey next to the gun toting, Jesus loving, POWER FORWARD, SEXY, AUTHENTIC Sarah Palin.

But, like so many OTHER Democrat wives who are asked to stand in the back and wait their turn , Michelle, too, will come to regret that little **choice**.

Nothing to lose in this ‘Democrat’ year.

From the reactions I’m hearing on talk radio and reading around the web, the overall reaction ranges from positive to AMERICA – F*CK YEAH!

I think McCain will get a bounce out of this pick from conservative men and women who were tepid on coming all out for him.

I may not actually be American, but for what it’s worth this is political genius. MCain may well just have gone and won the election. On so many levels this is brilliant. Young, dare I say “hottie”, vs. Obama’s undoubted charisma. A woman, to appeal to disenchanted Hillary supporters. A mother. All the right conservative boxes ticked on the big moral issues. And it reflects well on McCain himself as it indicates political nous.

Sheer genius.

I hope GOP image consultants don’t make her change her hair. I noticed the picture of the Palin family had her daughter in a pretty red party dress…and a tiara. My niece went through the tiara stage in grade school.

That her mother would let her wear it for such an important event shows more authenticity. Although that WaPo columnist who snarked at Justice Roberts’ kids’ clothes at his swearing-in will no doubt see it as a fashion blooper.

Sarah Palin was married to a commerical fisherman.

In Dayton, she introduced him as a member of the United Steel Workers Union, and I thought she said he worked on a pipeline in some capacity. Could he have been a commercial fisherman? Or is he merely a recreational fisherman?

Whatever the case, I heard that union leaders have had trouble in some areas of Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania selling Obama to their members. I say it’s time to get some naughty librarians posters made. How about a calendar with Palin hunting, fishing, shooting, and driving a truck? The union guys will love it. The poster will be a bigger seller than the Farrah Fawcett poster.

BuckeyeSam on August 29, 2008 at 1:57 PM

My longstanding belief: Only the Republicans could ever elect a black or a female to the office of President or Vice President. The reason: The only black or female candidates the Democrats could offer would be too liberal and out of touch with mainstream America to win the swing voters.

A lady who birfs babies, shoots BIG guns, rides motorcycles, shoots free throws and goes to church on Sunday is MRS. F’ING AMERICA.

Rush is ecstatic about this, and so are his callers. Mixed reaction from NRO, one of them is worried about potential gaffes from Palin. He needn’t worry. ABC’s Jake Tapper once described Obama as a “one man gaffe machine” and the less said about Joe Biden the better. Out of the four principles in this election, I have a feeling Palin will make the least mistakes.
And she’s a hell of lot more attractive than Joe Biden.

J, it isn’t Sarah’s divorce. Wooten tased his own Son and has been sexist towards females while giving tickets.

I don’t know if I should even bother right now.

I imagine Chris Matthews has a tingling feeling running DOWN his leg today…

Along with some considerably large brown stains. Time for a change of pants, Chris.

He wore all his black suits early this week for convention, so he’s wearing brown anyway.

Update: Obama tries to manage the instant backfire from his campaign’s moronic attack this morning on her inexperience by congratulating her for busting barriers.

Heh. I keep asking how they could be so effing stupid, but who cares why? Viva The LibTards!

In Dayton, she introduced him as a member of the United Steel Workers Union, and I thought she said he worked on a pipeline in some capacity. Could he have been a commercial fisherman? Or is he merely a recreational fisherman?

Seasonal work. When the fishing season is over, he works on the oil pipeline. A lot of Americans will relate to that.

Obama/Biden = lawyers
McCain/Palin = not lawyers

bayam – Palin will help win PA. Trust me, I’m from PA and PA voters between Pittsburgh and Philly are blue-collar, Reagan Democrats. They have much more in common with Palin than the effete Obama.

DerKrieger on August 29, 2008 at 2:07 PM

I can picture it now. Every college guy with a big poster of Vice President Palin on their dorm room wall.
