Michael Moore: This hurricane is proof that there is a god in heaven

Via the Autopsy, it comes about a minute in. Not the first “progressive” to admit to rooting for a hurricane, but the setting alone makes this special. Rest assured, had a conservative offered something like this about the Democratic convention, it would have earned a 28-minute speshul komment replete with light show and opening act. Coming from Michael Moore, it earns nothing more terrible than an oafish, shinola-eating grin followed by a moment of incandescent ironic beauty as Olby sneers at the viscerally distasteful prayer for rain during Obama’s speech made by one of James Dobson’s spokesmen, blissfully oblivious to the fact that Moore delivered the secular equivalent to the “Countdown” faithful assembled not 30 seconds earlier.

Moore does say he hopes no one dies; all he’s after is a heap of destruction and demoralization that can be exploited for political advantage. Exit question: Does that sound familiar?

Speaking as a Louisianan who spent the better part of the day evacuating to Tenn. ahead of the surge tomorrow, I am not amused that this tub of lard is politicizing Gustav when

1) there is real fear out there with the first real storm since Katrinia/Rita is bearing down on coastal Louisiana. Even if Moore hates Repubicans he should be more sensitive to what is going on. Bobby Jindal, BTW is doing an awesome job of taking care of all the stuff Blanco was too stupid to understand needed to be done. 1500 troops are in the city ready to keep order and help evacuations. My only criticism so far is that the LSU football opener seems to be more important than setting contraflow early enough to get people out- especially from the lower Parishes.

2) If Moore cares about this so much why hasn’t tubby been down here donating all that propaganda loot? Brad Pitt’s also a liberal idiot but he does put his money where his mouth is.

I am so glad you registered. Proud to have you here.

I’m honored to be here and happy the party is gelling.

When the GOP is unified we don’t just break down walls…..we move mountains.

We toppled the Evil Empire folks….we’ll handle Messiah the Lightworker.

Go out and show your communities what “we” can do all of us.

Michael Moore: This hurricane is proof that there is a god in heaven…

What a freak-n pig of a human. Lets see now, this hurricane has already killed 50 something people, and this pig wants it to hit New Orleans during the Republican convention. POS pig.

Keep telling yourselves…he’s not human.

whitetop on August 29, 2008 at 10:50 PM

It’s true that I haven’t been through a hurricane with a Dem governor, but I’ve been through at least 5 of them. They are part of life and aren’t anything new to the Gulf Coast. The State of Florida is a particularly proficient first responder and understands the roles of state and federal responses.

Mississippi and Alabama were also torn apart by Katrina, but their executives knew how to handle disasters. As a matter of a fact, New Orleans survived Katrina very well, it was the failure of the levees, after decades of misuse of federal funds, that killed the city.

My family is very close to the projected Gustav path now. We’re used to bad weather, we’re prepared for a storm and we’ll do just fine. There’s a big difference between preparing and sitting around waiting for the help that you forgot to request. We’ll take care of ourselves and our neighbors.

obladioblada on August 29, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Immediately after this appearance, Moore was rushed to a free clinic for a booger transplant.

That’s not necessary. He can go on for many years until he’s extremely old and crusty … all the while thinking that he’s doing the liberal cause so much good. He and Olbermann both think that they are helping their cause, and it’s really the opposite.

I dunno…
I’m thinkin’ that Moore getting mowed down, during a driveby, by a gang of noble immigrants illegals fightin’ for turf with the, ahem, persecuted minority indigenous populace in Obama T-shirts, while going into a starbucks for a mochaccino latte–now that would prove beyond a doubt there is a God in heaven

Of course only because his immenseness would mean he would take all the rounds, saving any innocents that might have otherwise been in the line of fire!!!

Now what was that Larry the Cable guy act of contrition???

“Forgive me lord for what I said, and all the little pygmies in Africa…”

I managed to get through the whole video (I feel sick now, thanks) and find it incomprehensible that this dillweed was laughing because the people on MSNBC couldn’t pronounce her name this morning because “no one knew who she was”.

I mean… “Sarah“… and… “Palin“.

Is there any other way to pronounce it? And if so, why would you? Dumb, dopey libs. Leave it to the party of “education” to hold up illiteracy as some shining example of something other than pure unadulterated stupidity.

By the end of next week, Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin are going to be the two most talked-about young political figures in America.

rockmom on August 29, 2008 at 11:30 PM

Laura on August 29, 2008 at 11:33 PM

Yes….rockmom…but you know the loony left will still be drudging up the whole victimization of N.O. during Katrina…comparing and constrasting…and then they will say that the “REAL VICTIMS” are still scattered all over the country.

HornetSting on August 29, 2008 at 11:33 PM

What an incredibly stupid thing to say, even for this guy. I am sure the people who live on the Gulf appreciate the sympathy. But then this is the same guy who made some stupid comment about how the terrorists should have hit Dallas instead of NYC.

That sort of thing drives me up a wall. Lacking a Rovian Weather Controller ™ there’s nothing he can do. Might as well go – but politics being what they are, you’re right, he’d get roasted for it.

Laura on August 29, 2008 at 11:40 PM

Didn’t Karl Rove create this hurricane…Hanna too!

HornetSting on August 29, 2008 at 11:42 PM

I can’t even bring myself to watch anything with him in it. I can’t wait for An American Carol; a parody of him is priceless to see, even if the rest of the movie stinks (though it looks pretty funny) and is worth the 7.50 or so I’ll shell out.

Good luck to all my southshore neighbors. I used to be in St. Bernard, but I couldn’t bear the thought of just what’s going on now and moved north of the lake. Our house is going to be full over the weekend with friends and family who chose to stay down there. I’ll be down there again, cleaning up others’ homes, after this is all over. Sad, because I think if Gustav pulls a Katrina and swerves East, it will be the last nail in the coffin for a lot of familiar places.

I’ll put on a smile and use it as an excuse to have a party with my loved ones.

The engineering mistakes that led to the canal levee failures that flooded most of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina were found and then dismissed in the Army Corps of Engineers’ design review process in 1990, an investigative team reviewing the failures says.

He’d be lucky if he returns home with one functioning eye.

This could also be a godsend for McCain if President Bush has to cancel his convention speech. I’m sure the geniuses at the Obama campaign are all ready with a crapload of speakers and TV ads and talking points to go after Bush speaks. Really? Do the Dems REALLY want to make jokes about the weather? THIS YEAR? REALLY? Ok. Let’s have it…

Obama had sunny skies for his convention because he hangs out with the Weathermen.

“Hurricane Gustav hit NOLA today with the explosive force of 10 of his closest associate’s nail bombs. Obama had no comment. S. Kurtz is a racist”

Obama said the only way to solve the problem with the weather in NOLA is to drown Chocolate city in federal dollars. “I have no executive experience, but I do know which way the wind is blowin’”

REALLY?

Americano on August 30, 2008 at 4:56 AM

Those of us enduring drought conditions appreciate the rain that only arrive with storms.

The high pressure heading south through Texas might either drive this storm west towards the border or just deflate the destructive winds leaving us with blessed rain.

New Orleans proved itself the nation’s political boil when its own Governor and Mayor refused to follow federal advice and evacuate before the storm arrived. Now, the media are fixated as if every hurricane is heading straight for New Orleans every time. “Wolf!”
