CNN: Hey, won’t Palin be neglecting her Down’s syndrome baby?

This is phase one. Phase two will be, “Wouldn’t a strong, responsible, authentic feminist woman have aborted it?” Man, I’m downright giddy at the thought of where the next eight weeks are going to take us.
Ace helpfully offers the left a new campaign slogan. Exit question: Sure, Palin’s running for VP while raising a family of five that includes a special needs baby, but has she “walked through fire” the way Hillary Clinton has? Click the image to watch.

What am I missing? Palin is #2 on our ticket, and she’s probably more experienced for than their #1 guy.
BuckeyeSam on August 29, 2008 at 4:52 PM
The DU and dKos mental midgets only have to Google her name and you can find the pictures of her conducting Alaska state business when she was 9 months pregnant.
Totally laughable. Totally despicable.

Many of them will complain that she had too many children already and was taking up more than her fair share of our precious resources. Sarah Palin: Planet killer.

So she is a bad mother because she is working? All those cracks in the ceiling were made by childless women?
Did he really say “she unfortunately had a baby with downs syndrome”? I bet we start hearing from the parents of down syndrome children about how unfortunate they don’t feel!

These are the same

May God give Sarah the strength to withstand the ciriticisms
of those with such callous attitudes. They are pro-choice but would deny her the choice to have and love this innocent child. Down’s children are without guile and demonstrate the purist form of love. The Palin family is blessed and we as a nation are blessed to have her as a candidate. What an example for young women and for all of us.

Palin is my kind of Feminist. She has every which way she wants. Mother, Leader, Executor (as in egg zec u tor), Hunter, Reformer, Wife…etc
She is what the feminists of old were fighting for. She is the highest leader of her state and more than likely soon to become the first vice president and soon thereafter the first woman president of the United States of America.
How is she any less capable of taking care of her child as the vice-president than should would be to maintain her post as Governor???
leftists sicken me. They should be praising this woman for overcoming such insurmountable odds…as a woman.

HornetSting on August 29, 2008 at 5:17 PM
Well, the MSM have finally done it.
They have reached the depths of cruelty in their comments about Palin as regards her personal life.
Apparently, the fact that many of them wont be around after the election hasn’t yet sunk in.
So, I say, enjoy the ride through your malice while the suits at your jobs are now discussing when to pink slip you.
pocomoco on August 29, 2008 at 5:18 PM
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t liberals the ones who argue that a woman should be able to work and raise a family at the same time? Are they going to start knocking single working mothers too?
DarkeningCloud on August 29, 2008 at 5:19 PM
Interesting, I emailed some friends that I was wondering how long it would take before whispers of this kind started. Then I go and run some errands and come back and I see this. These bastards are like clock work. What absolute weasels, CNN should be ashamed…well if they had any shame.

I hope the next 8 weeks expose the media and dems, for what they really are, to those who don’t regularly follow this stuff. On this blog, we know what they’re about, but millions of people don’t pay that much attention. Instead of being sucked in by the one’s speeches and empty platitudes, I hope America realizes that it’s hard-working, principled, no-nonsense people like Sarah Palin (and McCain too) that this country needs.
Muletrain on August 29, 2008 at 5:20 PM
The Left always has a problem with coordinating their attacks. Rather than have a reasoned discussion about the merits of selecting Palin, they grasp at the first thing they can think of and run it into the ground. They cannot afford to do this with this enigma, Obama, as their candidate. Once again, his campaign is going to be accused of beating up on a white woman. Once the country gets to see Palin and how she isn’t a scumbag like Biden, they will tune out all of this nonsense.
grdred944 on August 29, 2008 at 5:21 PM
Phase #3: The “tolerant” among the left start screaming that Palin would be better off in the kitchen.

Michelle Obama doesn’t stay home with her kids. Her mom raises them while she was at her $1 million dollar a year job. The Palin kids have a stay-at-home dad. The old farts over at CNN have to get with it. I live in SoCal and there are many dads who stay home with the kids or work from home so they can take care of them (there are 3 on my street alone).

This drives me absolutely crazy. I have friends who have a Downs Syndrome kid and the he just blends right in with their busy family. His older sister even takes him out with her on “dates” with her friends. The Donk’s approach would be to kill the child (aka human, boy, brother, lover of peanut butter sandwhiches, etc) rather than love him.

This is a child, a gift from God, just like any other child. I am not a mother, but I helped raise my brother and I thank everyday for him. My mom had him late in life and the doctors feared he would be a down’s baby…he was fine, beat the odds, but if he was a down’s baby, I would love him just the same…
Shame on these scumbags at CNN. I hope they are shamed, publicly and with great scorn.
HornetSting on August 29, 2008 at 5:54 PM
Despicable! I have an older brother who was born with Down’s syndrome in 1959, at a time when many of these children were placed in institutions. My parents were advised to do that, given the fact that my dad was a medical resident. The pediatrician said he would be a “stigma” on the family and my father’s career. My parents promptly got a new pediatrician, and with the help of family, pushed Ralph to reach his full potential. Today he’s a happy, productive human being who has worked in material services at a local hospital for 25 years. I can’t imagine my life without him. Oh, and I should mention I am the youngest of five. Ralph was the second-born; but even though my mom sweated out the next three pregnancies, she never would have considered herself “unfortunate” if any of us had been born with Down’s or any other challenge. It makes me sick the way some of these people on the Left think!

Just for the record I tried to bring this story to people’s attention at multiple blogs (including here) when it happened this morning at 810am PT. Btw, whoever told Obama to come out and attack Palin’s experience (even before they congratulated her) should be fired immediately. All the Obama campaign has managed to do is showcase how even the bottom of the McCain/Palin ticket has more experience than the top of the Obama/Biden ticket. Too funny!

Guys and gals, I have a baby son with Down Syndrome. He is 2 years old now and, as you’d expect, slower to develop than other kids his age. But that’s the limit of his pull on my time. He is walking now at age 2 when his sister walked at one. He is saying his first words at 2 when his sister started at 1. But in actual fact he’s an easygoing kid, much less fussy than his sister was and *much* more obedient. I wish there wasn’t so much misinformation about Downs babies out there. They are slower, yes, but ultimately they are just kids. Sarah Palin will be fine as a mom raising Trig. He will require no more time than any other kid his age. I speak with authority!

I’m writing from Grue’s stomach, having just been feasted upon. No fork used, I was swallowed whole like a crocodile devours his prey.
It is unfortunate that John Langdon Down, the man who first described Trisomy 21 (the medical name), had a surname that lends people to think the “Down” in Down syndrome is a descriptive adjective (i.e. what a downer!). In British English they say “Down’s baby”, in US English it’s Down syndrome baby.
I don’t want fawning and cooing over Trig or any Down syndrome kid. I just want to say that ultimately we all love our own kids first and foremost(because of biology or dare-I-say-it evolution). Your kid might be smarter than mine, but he’s my flesh and blood, and deserves a shot at a good life that Democrats would happily deny him in the name of “Women’s rights.”

Just a couple of comments from a newbie. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a strong Romney supporter, I will have NO PROBLEM voting for a McCain/Palin ticket. She seems like a strong, sensible, competent woman. Good for her.
I have a grandson with Down Syndrome. No child in the world has more sheer joy in living than our little Noah. Our whole family is so glad that he did not meet the fate of more than 80% of children in that situation, who are aborted. Of course, for his family that was never a consideration.
What I am about to say will probably sound “politically correct,” but please think about it. Rather than saying a “Down Syndrome baby,” his mother would prefer that you think of him as a CHILD first. Noah is not a Down Syndrome child, but a child with Down Syndrome, as is Trig Palin.

In just a few days we’ll be back to business as usual: slogging through an endlessly tangled morass of liberal lies.
The progress is made in little fits and starts just like this one. When the liberal media is thrown a curve, they resort to their core values: class hatred and utterly mindless stereotyping.
Once the liberals get their act together and all start saying the same slander (no matter how incredibly asinine, or even psychotic that slander happens to be) to millions of people, it will sound perfectly reasonable solely because they have heard it so many times and from so many sources.
But every time a transition occurs, a few thousand more people snap out of the daze, shake their heads and start questioning the constant buzz of media noise they had previously given no more thought to than the air they breathe.
