Off-topic, mostly, I think, but I think it’s worth saying something.

Agreed. There is a time and place for everything, and one must be mindful of the company one is keeping when deciding what words to use (and not just “bad” vs. “good” words), just as in deciding what topics to bring up.

You hear this one often, but that doesn’t make it true. Many would argue that some ideas can be better expressed using words often regarded as “bad.”

cussers usually don’t even use profane words according to their definitions

The meaning of words in modern context is determined by usage, not derivation. By your logic, I could declare your use of profane in that sentence to be incorrect, because it’s primary meaning is “secular” in a broad sense, not vulgar (the primary/original meaning of which, by the way, is “of the common people,” and not profane per se). Very little you hear today would make any sense if we allowed only original definitions of words to be considered legitimate.

And such behavior is rightfully counted as blasphemy, which should have no place in a Christian’s life. And basic manners dictate that, even if not a believer, it’s impolite to use such terms when one is (or might be) nearby. It’s also, however, not a believer’s job to change a nonbeliever’s outward behavior, but to hope instead for inward change that would, consequentially, be reflected on the outside.

A lot of words on a silly subject. Maybe I’m just bored tonight, despite the ongoing spectacle in Denver.

Oh, uh, and the movie looks funny. I hope it really is.
