I’m sorry but Olbermann is an absolute embarrassment to “political commentary.” … The man is an emotional reactionary and has no business that requires critical thinking.

I’m with you on Olbermann being an embarrassment to political commentary, and a complete lightweight. And “emotional reactionary” is a perfect description.

But I’ve seen very few journalists capable of even reasonable thought, much less critical thinking. So the contrast between Olbermann and others is not as sharp as it should be.

Basically, he’s an airhead among airheads. The only way he can hold up his end of an argument is to control the microphone. And then I wouldn’t count on it.

Wasn’t he the other idiot with Matthews that attacked Michelle Malkin over the “Swift Boat Vets” ads? They agreed she was “self-loathing” since she had defended to a degree the Japanese internment of World War 2, but was herself “Asian.” The boy geniuses didn’t seem to realize that Michelle Malkin was from the Philippines, which was horribly mistreated by the Japanese during World War 2, so there was no particular reason to expect her to identify with the Japanese. Apparently they figured that all “Asians” are a single ethnic group: a rather racist world view, frankly. It would have been interesting to confront them with their own racism, if you could have made them realize it.

That was right before the last Republican Convention, and led to Zell Miller’s famous telling off of Matthews.

When they start feeling it in to pocket book they will react.

KO is setting himself up for a BIG fall here soon. I see bad things happening to him and he will have only himself to blame.

Love the unity shown by the hacks at MSNBC.

There’s a choice there and the demographic is far different from the sorry loners and young dorks who watch the Olby show.

NBC believes in Olby, I conclude.

Whatever did they do to deserve us?

The media deserves better. They deserve people who will vote for whomever the media tells them to. Because they media knows better.

I mean, after four years of J-school and five years covering city council meetings, you know pretty much all there is to know, don’t you?

MSNBC has giving Olbermann too much power for short term gains. Long term his tenure at MSNBC is going to destroy the channel.

That’s exactly right. They are getting short term (albeit still third place overall) gains from Olbermann. But in the long run they are absolutely destroying their credibility, not only with conservatives but with Clinton-Dems. And the irony is that it’s Olbermann who despises O’Reilly for his partisanship and Fox for their lack of being fair and balanced, but MSNBC is doing that exact same thing on the liberal side twice as intensely. It’s been like that on the channel now for quite some time, but this convention coverage – and I use the term “coverage” lightly – has taken it to whole new extremes, the way that Olbermann (the anchor, not the commentator) has slobbered all over himself with Obama-partisanship and sychophantism.

But it’s bizarre to see Olby and Matthews get into their little lover’s spat like this.

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that they both think they are MSNBC’s it guy. They also think that they are MSNBC’s Bill O’Reilly, only they don’t get that Bill doesn’t run FOXNEWS.
