Video: Michelle on the Alex Jones confrontation and levitating the Mint

“Never was so much hype created by so few to simulate the appearance of so many,” begins her column today, but for obvious reasons Doocy’s more interested in hearing about her run-in with the Truther pope. You’ll find raw footage of that embedded below; if you’re still hungry afterwards, try PJM’s video report from the scene. My one question has to do with her reference to Jones as fringe. He’s longstanding chat buddies with a presidential candidate turned cult leader (no, the other one) and he’s been known to host the occasional New York Times number-one bestselling author on his radio show. How fringe can he really be? Answer: This fringe.

How come the party of peace, love, and hope doesn’t need folks to guard their spokesmen? You never see conservatives physically threatening lefty speakers.

Vashta.Nerada on August 27, 2008 at 11:16 AM

Ms. Malkin is brave, witty, and absolutely beautiful.

I am glad you are well and did such a good job exposing the democrat “moderate voices” Michelle.

all the best,

Beautiful, intelligent women with poise and charm have true conservative values. Then there nancy pelosi.

He’s also had Lou Dobbs on his show talking about the NAu, and Pat Buchanan has had articles posted on Jones’ web sites.

MadisonConservative on August 27, 2008 at 11:19 AM

The way he stomped after Michelle like that is rather disturbing. Huffing and screeching the entire time. What an absolutely disgusting human being (and I use the term loosely here) he is. Utterly unable to foster any form of civilized discourse. I was genuinely fearful for Michelle there for a few seconds, looked like something out of 28 Days Later. Bunch of rabid, snarling animals.

Alex Jones fringe? No, dangerous.

It seems the calmest person in that whole situation was and continues to be Michelle. I don’t see how she does it. That guy made himself a lot of enemies that day. Unfortunately, nuts like that never seem to realize how much they hurt their cause by acting like that.

This Alex Jones character needs incarceration. I can’t believe he got away with trying to incite the crowd by screaming “Kill Michelle Malkin!” over and over.

Towash on August 27, 2008 at 11:30 AM

Funny she hardly mentioned in her piece today getting verbally abused and stalked by Alex Jones when that was in fact a very intense confrontation, and well-documented on tape. I have to conclude what she writes is not “all about her”. In fact she makes an effort to put herself into the background when reporting. She’d probably have to sustain serious physical injuries to even mention it in her writings. Which I hope doesn’t happen! Just saying.

Paul-Cincy on August 27, 2008 at 11:30 AM

What I want to know is — why is Michelle covering fringe goofballs on the street instead of providing commentary on what’s going on IN the convention?

Outlander on August 27, 2008 at 11:35 AM

That guy really needs a good old fashion ass whoopin’ for speaking to a lady like that.

That would apply to a conservative that spoke that way to a lib.

TheSitRep on August 27, 2008 at 11:35 AM

My blood was boiling watching that video.

Ms. Malkin, I may not be the biggest guy around, but I’d happily volunteer to make sure you’re able to walk wherever you wanted to, untouched…or go down trying.

Consider that a standing offer.

Michelle, you should know that you have many people willing to cover your back. You be careful out there!

Dollayo on August 27, 2008 at 11:38 AM

If I was there, I believe that counter confrontation would have been demonstrated. But, I wasn’t, so I guess I’ll pray for him. His mind and soul must be in constant chaos to have that much hate spewing out of him.

Rogue Traveler on August 27, 2008 at 11:40 AM

Man, the police were really on top of that episode.
Michelle is known from a national news outlet, a little blue suit help shouldn’t have been that tough to come by.

Speakup on August 27, 2008 at 11:42 AM

Was the big guy there acting as Michelle’s body guard in official capacity, or was he just watching out for her on his own?

p40tiger on August 27, 2008 at 11:43 AM

MM…I admire you

Ropera on August 27, 2008 at 11:43 AM

This is the guy who claimed the government (or the shadow government, whatever…) was trying to kill him because he knows the truth.

He even made up some story about how he was assualted by some “government” thugs. Certifiable, indeed.

Of course none of his minions seem to notice that if there really was an all-powerful shadow government trying to kill him, he wouldn’t be around to report it…

What got me mad about that incident wasn’t so much Jones’ phony tirade, but the fact that he was pretty much acting and trying to stir up the losers around him to do something. That’s far more cowardly, and more dangerous.

Also, he knew there were cops around, so if someone did lay a hand on him, I’m sure they would have finally reacted and taken that person into custody.

Alex Jones is beneath contempt, a coward in every sense of the word.

reaganaut on August 27, 2008 at 11:48 AM

Outlander on August 27, 2008 at 11:35 AM

What I want to know is — why is Michelle covering fringe goofballs on the street instead of providing commentary on what’s going on IN the convention?

As shown in her book “Unhinged”, it seems to me Michelle has a lot of trouble getting over the fact there are such people as the crazy, fringe left, “moonbats”. I can sympathize, there are things I have trouble getting over too. My mouth is agape, and I say “I can’t believe [fill in the blank]“. It’s like a loop in my head, pondering the personal psychology of the loony left. Michelle has respect for everyone. Then when you encounter an Alex Jones, you have to think, what is his problem, why is he like that. Can anyone help him. He’s so sick. She wants to highlight them, as if to say, LOOK AT YOURSELVES. Come on. You’re destructive, you’re wrong, you’re silly. Do yourselves a favor and stop it.

Michelle seems bored by the convention speeches. Hard to blame her there. But I too would prefer a focus on inside the hall, rather than outside.

Paul-Cincy on August 27, 2008 at 11:49 AM

Alex Jones id a troofer doofus

RocketmanBob on August 27, 2008 at 11:52 AM

Terribly mentally ill. Hopefully this will destroy any reputation he may have.
Favorite part: Jones shouldering into Malkin’s bodyguard then saying “Don’t you touch me again” at 45 seconds. Classic.

This Alex Jones character needs incarceration. I can’t believe he got away with trying to incite the crowd by screaming “Kill Michelle Malkin!” over and over.
Towash on August 27, 2008 at 11:30 AM

To be fair, it was some dude next to Jones, not Jones himself. Unless you saw something I didn’t.

SouthernDem on August 27, 2008 at 11:52 AM

I can’t believe what I just saw in the video. Michelle Malkin did not deserve this treatment. People surrounding her chanting “kill Malkin”. My God what is happening to these lefty looneys? The last time I remember seeing this kind of mindless frenzy was in Germany for Adolf Hitler. We know how that turned out.

Whether or not you agree with Michelle Malkin’s politics her right to express her opinion is one of our fundamental rights in this country. This guy mentions free speech as though only he is entitled to it. This is truly scarey. I know Ms. Malkin did the right thing in leaving the scene, but I was very concerned that she would be harmed physically before she could get away.

I am appalled that the MSM has not exposed this lunacy. What is wrong with this picture?

Do these so called “truthers” really think they can shout down Michele and others like her? I am simply too dumbfounded right now to describe my feelings adequately. I only hope that we find a way as a nation to prevent these truther nuts from gaining political control.

Thank God Michelle Malkin is safe.

kanda on August 27, 2008 at 11:53 AM

Was the guy in green screaming “Kill MM” charged with incitement to violence?

If not, why not?

MadisonConservative on August 27, 2008 at 11:53 AM

I believe “the big guy” is “Charlie (Colorado)”. He showed great restraint as well.

If I were the one Alex tried to push around, I’m afraid he’d have gone to the hospital to repair broken fingers, and I’d have gone to jail.

The Monster on August 27, 2008 at 11:56 AM

I think the left has finally completely “jumped the shark”. They act like they have the moral authority of the civil rights movement, but act like the 1960’s state police of alabama. I know it’s not in our conservative nature(we fight back) but maybe we should emulate MLK.

This looks bad to anyone regardless of politics. Imagine if he had layed a hand on Michelle? Death Knell that even the MSM couldn’t ignore.

I’m not advocating MM getting hurt, but maybe if we proved we are the one who wanted peace (through strength) even the MSM couldn’t ignore us anymore. The only thing the hard left has left has is their supposed “high ground” and what seems the last 10 years, intimidation.

I’m sure that she was there for some comedic relief/fresh air break.

Having watched some of the mindless drivel on the convention floor, I can’t imagine physically being there. At home I can change the channel. If I was there, I would have physically escape the convention to get a break from the from the nausea of watching some of the people.

All that is missing are the whips so that the flagellation can begin.

I’m happy Michele is safe.

morganfrost on August 27, 2008 at 12:12 PM

Michelle coulda done a running count of “McCain’s houses” references. I didn’t watch much, but it amazed me how many times respected Dem govs and senators and others mentioned McCain’s houses. I felt sorry for them that they had to carry water on such a lame talking point.

Paul-Cincy on August 27, 2008 at 12:15 PM

I wanted to touch that guy about 40 times to his head. How can people not see the evil in the far left. Free speech but only for those that yell. Truly remarkable footage. Her restraint should be admired, not one punk in the group has 1/10 of her intelligence and insight.

Michelle handled it with complete class.

Some of you, however, need to look at the hypocrisy of your comments. You are pounding on this guy for his call to violence (rightfully so) yet your responses include some form of physical violence to be leveled upon him. Pot, meet kettle.

grdred944 on August 27, 2008 at 12:25 PM

Whats interesting to me is that Alex Jone’s modus operandi in this moment caught on camera is nothing more than a microcosm of his “career”. That is to say, scream loud and wildly at a truly unthreatening recipient. In this case its cute, little Michelle. In his “career” its the US Government/President Bush. Incite the moronic masses into a mindless rage. Encourage the mindless masses to lash out against the unthreatening recipient. Self promote by shouting out your name and website at every opportunity. Discourage any open discourse while incessantly ranting about the supposed enemy as being facist and evil. Not much new here folks. Its the way he is. Its the way he does business. Disgusting cowardace.

Zetterson on August 27, 2008 at 12:26 PM

Some of you, however, need to look at the hypocrisy of your comments. You are pounding on this guy for his call to violence (rightfully so) yet your responses include some form of physical violence to be leveled upon him. Pot, meet kettle.

grdred944 on August 27, 2008 at 12:25 PM

Well, in their defense, the call to violence against this clown is at least in response to death threats, “Kill Michelle Malkin”. Alex Jones, by contrast, knows Michelle doesn’t pose any form of physical threat to him. Where I come from even threatening a woman with violence is justification for a beat down. Especially unprovoked threats of violence.

Zetterson on August 27, 2008 at 12:30 PM

Pot meets Kettle. What? Well that is all nice and fuzzy but threatening should not go unpunished. This guy needs a wake up call and if that means getting a taste of his own medicine, I will just call it karma.

riccangolf on August 27, 2008 at 12:39 PM

Alex Jones is a truther nut that should not be taken seriously. This is why I think way less of Jerome Corsi since he went on Jones’ radio show.

christene on August 27, 2008 at 12:47 PM

As amusing as all this is, it’s really very significant. This kind of stuff didn’t used to get covered. Somebody once traced the roots of the modern media’s rabidly leftist policies back to the 1968 Democratic National Convention. That was the first time the so-called “activists” were portrayed as heroes.

The media still uses these nutjobs’ manic energy to fuel their agitprop agenda. But there’s a very big difference today. Back then the liberal media could just carefully edit out all the totally psychotic episodes, and portray the moonbats as just normal people who happened to be way, WAY more concerned about life, the Universe and everything else than the rest of us.

But now – thanks to Fox and REAL heroes like Michelle Malkin – the camera stays on.

grdred944 on August 27, 2008 at 12:25 PM

No hypocrisy at all. It’s the difference between a provoked and an unprovoked attack. That guy was asking for a whipping; Michelle wasn’t. If the cops had intervened, I wouldn’t have considered it hypocrisy if they physically removed him from the premises. I would have wanted them to do whatever was necessary to get him out of there.

The tools of good and evil are sometimes the same. The difference is in the intent and the results they aim to achieve.

These unhinged moonbats need to be tied to Fauxbama like the proverbial albatross. Scenes shown again and again on T.V. and internet linking the far left to the far left Marxist that Obama is. If enough people realize these nuts are socialist, Progressive, communists, or just college kids trying to piss off mommy and daddy, and tie them to the entire Democrat party, maybe we can purge this country of socialism once and for all. Living well(or free) is the best revenge…..

adamsmith on August 27, 2008 at 12:55 PM

For quarter past 5 in the morning, that was great Michelle. I would love for Grif to attempt an interview with that He-Man, Woman Hater, Alex “no brain” Jones. First question would be “why do you hate Freedom of Speech?”

cannonball on August 27, 2008 at 1:01 PM

Great job, Michelle! I wish I could keep my cool as well as you did.

I hope there will be more media coverage on the intimidation going on in this election. I know that sounds like the other camp’s tactic, but many of my neighbors, especially the seniors, have been hesitant to display their support for our candidate out of fear of reprisal. One neighbor who did put up a McCain sign found his yard littered with trash that had been thrown at the sign each morning. It disappeared the other day so at least he doesn’t have to pick up the trash anymore. Neighbors have told me that there is no way they will put a McCain sticker on their car because they are afraid their property will be damaged. Others have said they are afraid they would be labeled as racist. Can you imagine, being afraid you’ll be branded as a racist simply because you chose to support your republican candidate for president?!
I’m all for lively debate, but the this level of intimidation is shameful and absurd.

dinobalz on August 27, 2008 at 1:01 PM

Interesting editorial choice by FNC to not run with the “Kill MM” meme that ran through the raw feed, and they didn’t ask Michelle about it either. Did they disuss that in an earlier segment or did they just choose to not reward that level of behavior by giving it any TV time?

It’s difficult to tell from the raw feed, but it seemed to me that only a couple of these idiots were screaming death threats, while others were quick to put a stop to it.

(Not that they actually cared for MM’s safety, it simply makes it harder to levitate the Mint while you’re calling for someone’s death).

max1 on August 27, 2008 at 1:31 PM

The other thing that commenters should know (before they embarass themselves) is that Alex Jones is not known for being a leftist. According to what I’ve been able to dig up on him on the internet, he claims to be (and most people view him) a paleo-conservative.

My collie says:

Of course, he IS a deranged truther — and as you pointed out yesterday on MichelleMalkin.com, he needs to be HEAVILY sedated, put in a straight jacket, and placed under 24-hour watch.

We didn’t see what was going on behind the scenes, but shouting for others to “kill” any identifiable and present person is a blatant incitement. There is no possible question about that. If that guy didn’t get put in a chokehold, the police were not doing their jobs.

Jones is a degenerate who’s been pulling this crap since the 90s. He’s a conman who doesn’t believe half of what he says and makes a good living milking truthers but it’s a living made possible by all of us tolerating it. Michelle please file charges against this guy. And file a complaint with the cops for them allowing this situation to happen.

It’s time people stood up to Jones and his ilk instead of laughing of his idocy. Everyone smirked and laughed at hippies in the 60s, and that got us the Tate-Lablanca murders. Jones is dangerous and needs to be thrown in jail. Or into a mob as hateful as the one he tried to get to attack Malkin.

Is it safe to say AJ is a bit ‘unhinged’?

oakpack on August 27, 2008 at 3:35 PM

Apparently the “peace” crowd isn’t getting any traction, so they’re going to ram peace down our throats!!!

Shocker of the Day: The Troofers claim that the Alex Jones fiasco was a…INSIDE JOB!!!

This is an APB!!

Do you know these men?

OBAMA HAT and GREEN SHIRT!

Maybe you went to school with them/him?
Maybe you are friends with them/him on Myspace?
Maybe you work with them/him?

If so please let us know!
We Are Change Alabama

These men tried to incite a riot while
Alex Jones was confronting Michelle Malkin!
These men started yelling “Kill Michelle Malkin! Kill Michelle Malkin!”
This Attempt didn’t seem to work, so the man in green starts to yell
“Alex Jones is a Corporate Stooge” at which point one of the leftists got involved.

That guy made himself a lot of enemies that day. Unfortunately, nuts like that never seem to realize how much they hurt their cause by acting like that.

Making enemies is his cause. He’s like the Truther Fred Phelps.

assault

A crime that occurs when one person tries to physically harm another in a way that makes the person under attack feel immediately threatened. Actual physical contact is not necessary; threatening gestures that would alarm any reasonable person can constitute an assault. Compare battery.

………… ladies and gentlemen of the jury, after reveiwing the video in evidence, how do you find for the defendant?

Michelle is AWESOME. Alex Jones is a fat, no talent load. What a great spokeman for the left! He’s fit in quite nicely on MessNBC.

farleyman on August 27, 2008 at 4:25 PM

Wow. Alex Jones is quite a brave man. It takes real guts to rouse up a crowd of fellow lunatics and harass a small woman. He’s an American hero!

Seriously, though, I wonder if the police would have let this go on if the woman was Nancy Pelosi or even Katie Couric?

Your honor, we the jury find the defendant to be a complete and utter D**KHEAD.
