Video: Convention music after Clinton leaves the stage? “Addicted to Love”

posted at 10:48 pm on August 27, 2008 by Allahpundit

Too good to check, but check it I did. Contrary to reports, it wasn’t the song playing while he was leaving; that was “Beautiful Day” by U2. Only after he had safely gone did they kick into “Love” … just as the camera panned to Hillary. Oy.

Exit question: One last middle finger from Team Barry? Keep Chaos alive!

>O<‘s theme song should be …

“Dreeeeeamer, nothing but a dreeeeamer”

or maybe …

“Daydreamer believer and a, homecomin’ queeeeeen”

or perhaps …

“Dreeeeeeeeeeeeam weaver, I believe you can get me through the ni-iiiiight”

Tony737 on August 27, 2008 at 10:53 PM

A reliable source tells me that Pawlenty is the choice.

He recently was seen with SS detail.

Bill wishes he was a dog…..”because I can”

dmann on August 27, 2008 at 10:53 PM

I’m not sure I understand the significance.

On another note, however, Hill and Chelsea look like they’re having so much fun. Awwwwww.

OneGyT on August 27, 2008 at 10:54 PM

I swear if its Pawlenty im out…..he is a HORRIBLE choice although he will make McCain look conservative by comparison. It makes perfect sense for McCain to pick a liberal guy but i hoped he would throw us a bone…..if it is Pawlenty….no check or support from me….and i bet im not alone….is MCain trying to lose….

Sure looked like it to me. And a pretty funny one at that!

Clinton came out to the lyrics “Yesterdays gone, yesterdays gone.” Even better.

Was that Chevy Chase,as the camera’s panned?

I’m not sure I understand the significance.

You don’t find it ironic that the most notorious philanderer in American political life is being saluted with “Addicted to Love” at his own convention?

Allahpundit on August 27, 2008 at 11:03 PM

If McCain picks Pawlenty it means he suffers from GW Bush’s greatest fault, picking friendship and loyalty over competence and strategy.

Very Interesting, even with the symbolic meaning of
“Addicted to Love” with the Bill Sexual Clinton
Predator,it appears no matter what you do,the
Liberals within their own party will foregive you,
unless ahem,your name is Silky!

Here’s some better tunes they should of played!

Cat Scratch Fever Ted Nugent

Weight of Glory on August 27, 2008 at 11:07 PM

“Addicted to Love”

At least for Bill Clinton it’s true.

They played “Isn’t she lovely” on the night Michelle Obama was finished speaking.

Pinocchio was indignant.

Entelechy on August 27, 2008 at 11:11 PM

Your lights are on, but you’re not home
Your mind is not your own

Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another kiss is what it takes

You can’t sleep, you can’t eat
There’s no doubt, you’re in deep
Your throat is tight, you can’t breathe
Another kiss is all you need

Whoa, you like to think that you’re immune to the stuff, oh yeah

It’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough, you know you’re

Gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to love

Pretty accurate description, eh?

btw, Nice “who’s ure daddy” move by The One at the end of the evening. . .

Wind Rider on August 27, 2008 at 11:13 PM

Anyone catch the look on Biden’s daughter’s face when he kissed her?

Sort of funny. She was not feeling the family PDA shot for the cameras.

Allahpundit on August 27, 2008 at 11:03 PM

A’ight, I see it now. I was thinking more about the “unity” and “peace and love” kinds of things than, er, that aspect of love.

Maybe we need a visual.

Weight of Glory on August 27, 2008 at 11:07 PM

Whew, I thought it was going to be something of Bill and Monica. Anyway, yeah, I suppose that makes the implications of the song a bit clearer.

OneGyT on August 27, 2008 at 11:14 PM

After Hillary decoupled herself from him last night, not having mentioned that she came as a wife, nor that she was speaking of “my husband, the forme president”, but just “the president”, maybe this is his new reality, in the open this time.

Maybe they thought “Pop That Coochie” by 2 Live Crew was too subtle.

Jim Treacher on August 27, 2008 at 11:21 PM

It’s even ironic to play this song, given his absolute hatred and disgust at nobody/novice Obama for jumping ahead of Hillary when it was her time.

It was even nastier than that. During and after Clinton-Lewinsky, there were the usual Dem victicrats filling up the media with suggestions that he was a “sex addict”.

Yeah.

Jaibones on August 27, 2008 at 11:36 PM

Could have been worse. They could have played Clinton off the stage to “Mambo No. 5” (“A little Monica in my life…”)

Why on earth would a convention play “Addicted to Love” unless there was a subliminal message? And if it was a message from “Team Barry” to the Clintons, I find it interesting because during the Clinton scandal, every Democrat defended his dalliances. Now, suddenly, it’s a bad thing?

Lavrenti Beria was a beloved hero of the soviet union…right up until Khruschev had him killed. Not to imply Barry Doc will do such a thing but the point is that sometimes the best thing a Marxist feels the old guard can do is retire for the good of the party.

Blue Velvet by Bobby Vinton

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars
She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours
Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left, gone was the glow of
Blue velvet
But in my heart there’ll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears

Good Night Monica, wherever you are.

That I thought was a huge slap.

I didn’t watch the whole thing. The first half was answering the criticisms of what Hillary didn’t do in her speech. I started to fall asleep during the second half.

A cheap shot at Hillary yet again. The ZZ Top songs would have been worse, even though I like ZZ Top.

Obama really believes his press if he doesn’t think he needs Clinton supporters to win this election.

A crappier song has never been written, except for that other Fleetwood Mac two-chord thing…gack, I’ve blocked the name of it.

Fitting that Clinton would adopt that stupid thing for his personal anthem.

which makes Billy’s actions clinical and Teddy’s extracurricular.

All you young whippersnappers must not remember the 1992 election, when “don’t stop thinking about tomorrow” was the Clinton/Gore theme.

Clinton’s personal anthem seemed to be “Fat Bottom Girls” by Queen, though.

There was a song done by the late Harry Nielson called “You’re Breaking My Heart”, where the opening went like this:

You’re breakin’ my heart
You’re tearin’ it apart
So f**k you

Now you would think that if there was ANY song Bubba Billy would want to play as he exited the stage, as his own personal message to B.O., this would be the song!

pilamaye on August 28, 2008 at 9:03 AM

I was jumping around with 3 different channels, but noticed something when President Clinton came on stage and there was flag waving by everyone, including Hillary and Chelsea that I saw on TV except one person, which was Michelle Obama. Maybe I missed it with my channel changing, but can anyone confirm or not if this was the case?
